Hi All, thought I would start a 3rd trimester thread, as most are past 23 weeks now!!!

Damn and blast, Magnolia - to put it politely - I'm sorry. Had hoped yours would move too
Are you being scanned again?

Castles, how's the packing going?

I'm glad I'm not the only one facing 3 yr old birthday parties in labour/postpartum/heavily pregnant

Calmriver · 21/09/2006 22:25

Lubella-

YES, she engaged, it's not all that early really, my DD1 engaged at 30 weeks. I reckon baby will be out at 36ish weeks this time. Getting some shocking cervical pains again from the pressure, but work this out....

the distance between my hip and bottom of my ribcage is 5 cm's. the baby doesn't have much place to go, other than press down.

All her lumps and bumps are so cute. This morning I was grabbing little heels or hands sticking out and a big bump which I assume is her bum....AAAH. I want to give her a huge big cuddle.

Yep being scanned again in 2 weeks hopefully when I see the consultant.

I am more worried coz they wont take under 34 weekers at my hospital but we cant get to the nearest hospital that does as its anything between 30 ins and an hour if traffic bad
So ambulance will have more chance.

Calmriver, I love the lumps and bumps to This one is lying across and his head and bum come out at the same time making my tummy look like a monkey nut!!!

jabberwocky · 22/09/2006 04:04

Another cross ways baby here, I'm pretty sure. He seems to mainly kick out on my right side. I called today and set up a 4D scan for 2 weeks from now

I have, hopefully, done my worst as far as the expensive baby stuff. I ordered a lambskin baby rug last night and I think we've got most everything else from ds - except for the layette. Have hinted to friend who "lost" my stuff that she will be giving me another baby shower to replace it

magnolia - wow, a November baby! Things are really started to move fast in our little group.

Elibean · 22/09/2006 07:54

Ah Jabberwocky....good idea, re friend who 'lost' your stuff: funny, I have one of those too
Magnolia, I'm in the same boat re hospitals - mine is maybe 20 mins away when there's no traffic, but can be easily 45 minutes plus when there is (which is often). But then again, I'm not anticipating a bleed anymore. Fingers still crossed for your scan.
And yet another monkey nut here - most of the time. She actually managed head down during my scan yesterday, but at night I can feel little feet and hands scrabbling under my sides when I lie on them

lubella · 22/09/2006 07:58

Calm River - that is amazing!

So sweet you can distinguish her little feet and bottom. I have the longest torso in the world so I think my little one is just bouncing around. The thought that they can engage at this stage makes the birth seems even more immanent

lucy5 · 22/09/2006 08:08

Hello all! I've had nothing to moan about lately, so I have possted

Not really just had a busy week! Gosh, November babies, it's all getting a bit real, isn't it?

I've managed to con my dd into having a play centre birthday party for her 6th birthday, as i'm sure I will have had the baby by then and I just can't face a home one. I do feel guilty but I think it's probably best all round.

I wish I had timed this better, xmas, school play, school fair etc it's going to be interesting.

Oh and hello newbies

Redlorry75 · 22/09/2006 08:50

Morning Everyone,

Went to MW yesterday, protien has all gone, but BP is up . Why can't it all behave itself. Bump has gone from being transverse to longline with bum in the air - am 29 weeks tomorrow so am crossing everything that it get comfy there and stays.

Both MW's and GP have told me a 2 wek sick note is just a phone call away so i can rest and they would really prefer I did. I am going to work on Monday morning and seeing MW shortly after to have BP checked. If it is high because of work I think I will ask for that note.

DD will be 3 next Thursday - where has the time gone?

Hey just noticed the new sceptical emoticon I like that! I have a feeling it will be well used!

Devongirl · 22/09/2006 13:30

Hello everyone, hi to the newbies

I woke up yesterday with excruciating lower back/buttock pain, so just been to the chiropractic. She is great, and after examining me she asked if I'd ever had an accident where I'd fallen on my pubic bone, and I did when I was about 12! Turns out that it had clicked a tiny bit out of alignment meaning that my pelvis was ever so slightly twisted, and with a bit of manipulation all the pressure has gone! It is bliss!!! It is a very clever and underrated health service IMO.

I feel the size of a large hippo and getting out of chairs, walking and generally anything is hard work. DH looks at me like I am millking it, but I am glad to hear everyone else feels about the same! I can't believe I've got 3 months to go, I can't imagine being much bigger than this! Gonna use new emoticon: So there!

Baconbaps · 22/09/2006 13:51

Hiya and thanks all for the welcomes!

Sorry to hear about the complications some of you are having. I thought I'd have a much harder time now I'm an older mum but it's all been ok apart from a few scary moments very early on. My other two pregnancies were fine apart from them both being back to back during labour. V painful!! Nobody told me until the last minute and I didn't know you could attempt to move them until I came on here! So I shall be on all fours for the last few weeks as a precaution. If there's a solar eclipse around the beginning of December you'll know it's my bum that's causing it!

I had an antenatal on Monday and the midwife asked if I had big babies which worried me as the other midwife said the same thing at my last visit (although she had looked at my notes wrong and thought I was only 18 weeks when I was 23+!).
I said 'Not really, 8lb 1 and 7lb 8', she seemed shocked that I didn't think 8lb was big. It's not though is it? Just a good size. Anyway I'm measuring 29 weeks so just over a week ahead.

And the baby is head down although it seems to be trying to push its bum as far into my lungs as possible at the moment! It's all at the top and I've had to ease a foot out from under my ribs a few times!

Sorry for the long post. Once I start I can't stop! Oh and please call me Baps, seeing Bacon makes me drool and not good for the keyboard

bewilderbeast · 22/09/2006 14:37

Oh boy I am so glad I'm not the only one who feels like and elephant (why isn't there an elephant emoticon?) and can't get up. Between being huge (even the nurse this morning expressed shock that I am only 30 weeks)having hippo ankles, badly bruised feet and carpal tunnel I am finding it very difficult to get up from any sort of sitting or lying position. Am having a sick day today apparently I've had a viral infection and its drained me, now I have to have all my vitamin and iron levels tested, more bloody needles, I feel like a pregnant pincushion. Wish I didn't have to work for another 6/7 weeks and wish I didn';t have to try and find and move into a new house before junior shows up. EEEEk. Is it just me or is the impending arrival of a small helpless screaming thing starting to get a bit scarY?

jabberwocky · 22/09/2006 15:07

BB, I had carpal tunnel last time. It's awful, isn't it? I have no idea why I was so swollen at this point last time and not so bad yet with this pg. I was doing a lot more when pg with ds and have been resting and keeping feet elevated more this time. But, then again, I'm not sure there's any rhyme or reason to the swelling sometimes. Lots of sympathy.

lubella · 22/09/2006 15:29

Sympathy to you both jabber & BB - this muggy weather dosen't help with tiredness and bloating.
I have decided to take my leave from November onwards - can't be arsed with travelling any longer, sitting at an uncomfortable chair at work - given up asking to order a maternity chair now. v important to have a bit of time dedicated to oneself at this point in time.

jabberwocky · 22/09/2006 15:50

Maternity leave in November sounds like heaven, lubella! Unfortunately, the way I've been spending money on baby things lately there's no chance of early leave for me

lubella · 22/09/2006 16:42

LOL think of it as your penance then jabby!
I have had my head in the clouds re. baby essentials so far but will start with the cot next Saturday and take it from there - John Lewis stand back here I come

jabberwocky · 22/09/2006 16:59

Dh always says there is nothing more frightening than a new mom with disposable income

weirdbird · 22/09/2006 18:13

Bought the essentials in Tesco yesterday

Packet of Newborn nappies
Maternity Pads
Pack of disposable knickers
Box of Breast Pads

Am planning to get everything down from the loft this weekend and see what has survived from the last time and what we shall replace

Redlorry75 · 22/09/2006 19:54

Eveing All,

I am so jealous of all of you who are buying things. So far I have managed to persuade DH into buying some bottles, a couple of soothers, 1 pair of Dumbo PJ's (after huge begging - almost tantrum like pleading in H&M), two packs of bibs and a pack of muslins! Was going to get comfort blanket today with DD's help as it will be her present to bump, but there is such a crap selection!! DD has a chad valley comfort blanket, silky one side soft the other with a bear in blue PJ's attached (pink rabbits were sold out). Am thinkning now of getting her a Taggy for the baby... Anyone seen where they're for sale at a reasonable price? I might have a look on e-bay!

I know the feeling of getting in and out of chairs, and off the floor after playing with DD. My DH also thinks I am milking it, esp when it comes to chainging DD's stinky nappies - which require her to lie on the floor
Then again, if something works to your advantage, why struggle

Calmriver · 23/09/2006 14:18

I remember after my section going through 4 boxes of disposable panties. They were so comfy and high, so they didn't bug my cut. As far as maternity pads, Always nights with wings are the best. Flat and very absorbant, not like wearing surf boards in between your legs!!!

Not looking forward to the bleeding for 5 weeks scenario AGAIN!

OP posts:
Redlorry75 · 23/09/2006 16:16

I have to say when I wore regular towels as opposed to maternity pads the horrible drawing sensation they gave made me ache and ache, so I went back to maternity pads. Did'nt really care about the surfboard feeling.

I do like watching new mums-to-be though - when they buy "a packet" of maternity pads - like its a token gesture and they wont really need them. I feel like saying to them "Honey I'd buy another 5 packs and make sure you're partner knows where to find them when he comes back out on day 2 to buy some more" But of course that would be mean and might scare them

Sorry any first-time -mums who read this, but you had to find out sooner or later!

spinamum · 23/09/2006 21:38

i agree with the surf board sensation, but I was so bewildered by the whole experience that my bump was empty and I had a small person staring at me that I put up with it. (ps I bought TWO packs of mat pads cos I thought I was a-know-it-all )

Gosh November babes. Obviously I always knew it could happen but it makes the whole thing more real. Actually the idea of being 6months pg at ds's birthday seemed so far away and now I wobbling between an homemade organic cake and going to Tescos and buying something in the shape of some cartoon character and pumped full of e numbers! Guess which one will win.

Now EVERYONE is saying "any day now" to me. The bra fitter in M&S corrected me when I asked for a mat bra fitting last week. "No don't you mean a nursing bra, dear?" "Erm. No I'm 26 weeks actually"." REALLY?" Don't care. Might mean that M/w,etc decide I can't possibly sit through more than 38 weeks without bursting.

spinamum · 23/09/2006 21:41

Confession: Just finished off most of a 500ml carton of Ben and Jerry's. Maybe it's not the baby that's making people gasp. i'm not the tallest of women and i have small(ish) arms so the general look is def quite comical.(like a cartoon piece of fruit.)

spinamum · 23/09/2006 21:53

OMG. There's a JUNE 07 thread!

spinamum · 23/09/2006 21:56

We'll be comparing weaning our six month olds(!!!!) by then.I'll probably be stressing about returning to work and the four year old parties will be about to begin.

Elibean · 23/09/2006 22:28

OMG, June?! I have this weird sense of disbelief if I even try and think past New Year....had the same thing when pregnant with dd, as though life stops when the baby arrives. Can't think why
Have spent the last 24 hours obsessed with whether dd has threadworm or not (she has a sore, red looking vagina and is itching it occasionally) and if so, whether I could possibly have it too. DH says I'm being utterly paranoid and obsessive (quite possible) but...having trawled the Health thread archives, I'm not so sure

Have managed to tear thoughts away from the above long enough to sort and put away loads of second hand baby clothes I was given, and to set a date for dd's 3rd birthday party: its going to be very early, and very small

Hope everyone is having a peaceful weekend...do you realize, we only have a dozen or so left, give or take?!?
