Hi All, thought I would start a 3rd trimester thread, as most are past 23 weeks now!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Olihan · 17/09/2006 20:13

Lubella, hello, welcome along. I think that probably is it for antenatal classes. We get told starting date and place at our booking in appointment, then you just turn up on the day.

Redlorry, not eating enough will trigger heartburn as much as eating too much/ the wrong foods. Eating small frequent amounts is supposed to be the best way of keeping it a bit more controlled. Mine definitely gets worse when I haven't eaten for a while.

Elibean · 17/09/2006 20:31

Welcome, Lubella - my antenatal class was booked automatically by the Health Visitor. But if you're concerned about it, I'd just give them a ring and ask them - doesn't hurt to know for sure
Magnolia, dhs, honestly....I'm sorry you have a cold, I forget how crappy a cold feels till I get one and then I think one of the worst things is you can feel like death and its 'only a cold' as far as the world is concerned!
Heartburn seems to be worst for me after sweet things, so Chinese meal would probably go down better than a cupcake....guess who had chocolate cake and pizza (not in that order) for lunch today BF's dh's birthday, and lots of kids involved, so I HAD to, no??
Thank goodness for Zantac. Lucy, how's yours?

Elibean · 17/09/2006 20:32

Redlorry, sorry you have the cold too - forgot to say, my heartburn was worse with a cold, maybe because the cough??

lucy5 · 17/09/2006 22:37

Hi, my heartburn was ok today and I only threw up once. It wwas blooming boiling here today, must have been 35, i'm really looking forward to cooler weather. I'm starting to panic a bit as I haven't bought anything for the baby yet, I have dd's birthday around the same time and like everyone else Christmas. I really have got to get my act together.

magnolia1 · 18/09/2006 06:47

I though I would get organised early for Xmas but haven't actually done anything yet

My boobs have started leaking Thought I had done well as it was always early leaking with the other pg's. Bugger!!!

jabberwocky · 18/09/2006 06:51

Another night of trouble going to sleep and piles are back Sitz bath has helped, though.

Dh caught me buying an Amby bed on ebay but i got a good deal.

I guess I'm going to bed just as everyone else wakes up...

magnolia1 · 18/09/2006 07:21

I am considering the Amby bed too but over here they go for the same amount as new almost so will try to find a bargain

lubella · 18/09/2006 09:11

Thanks for your advice everyone, I am really look forward to having a "Christmas" birth - such a lovely time to have a baby I think. Although I would love to stick to my due date of the 15th, don't want to be tucking into Christmas dinner if you know what I mean!

xx

Elibean · 18/09/2006 10:56

Jabber, me too, on both counts
I've gone all relaxed about Xmas and dd's birthday, because I've done about 70% of it...probably a big mistake, as I'll stay relaxed until the end of November then it'll be too late.
That said, if I just log on and read this thread I'm sure I'll be reminded...

castlesintheair · 18/09/2006 13:16

Hi everyone, welcome newbies! Well I'm feeling shattered. My advice to anyone who is 28 weeks pregnant and thinking about moving house: don't! Could hardly walk up the hill to take DD to nursery this am. Was quite out of breath by the end of it Have to make a start on packing kitchen today and can't be bothered but unfortunately I don't have staff (as someone asked me today ) to do it for me!

Rant over. Roll on Friday I say!

Elibean · 18/09/2006 13:43

Staff! Always makes me think of a big stick and shepherds in the nativity plays at school, that word...
I feel for you, Castles - am 28 weeks and knackered without moving house. Can't imagine packing up the kitchen this afternoon (though have to imagine doing various other not too fun things) and wish you stamina and luck. Endless cups of tea and loud rock music, maybe?!

Redlorry75 · 18/09/2006 14:55

Hi everyone -

Just back from 28 wk appointment with my fav midwife. I have swelling and protein, so she's keeping her eye on me - plus the blood bank forgot to send my Anti-D, so I have to go back on Thursday and then next Monday. And if she;s not happy with my progress on Monday.....I'll be signed off!

Am not usually a lazy work-shy type, but am so tired at the moment that I would welcome some freebie days off, esp as they can't start my mat leave until 36 weeks!

I have found those fab choccy cheerio things for brekkie ..weeto's or something am having several bowls a day to keep me fed and no heartburn so far.

Jabber - I had a look at an Amby bed on e-bay from your side of the pond - they only want $7.99, but DH looked and said 'dont think much of that'. So remind me to remind him that he said that when I am on hear telling you we;ve been up all night

Loulou000 · 18/09/2006 15:20

Hi everyone, hope you all had relaxing weekends.

I am paranoid that there is a serial killer in my wardrobe, and I actually have to check before I go to sleep. But I was like that before I was pg too.

That chart says I'm having a boy, and the scans say a girl. Time will tell who is right!

Ruby, I'd really like a water birth if all goes according to plan. Just need to hope that no one else is in it at the time! You would recommend it, then?

Hi lubella. I had to ring the hospital and book in for antenatal - and even then they only do one afternoon session. So I've booked some private ones as well.

Castles, can't believe you're packing up your house yourself. I'm moving in 2 weeks (if nothing goes horribly wrong) and I'm not planning to lift more than a finger.

Olihan · 18/09/2006 15:39

Redlorry, did you chat with the mw about the HB? What do you think about it now? Would be really interested as I'm really starting to veer towards it but the mws here are just assuming it'll be a hospital birth. I know other people who have wanted homebirths round here and the same mw team have been reluctant to agree so I was wondering about the arguments FOR it that your midwife gave.

Loulou and castles, good luck with the moves, keep a big bar of chocolate to one side to keep you going!!

lubella · 18/09/2006 15:57

Thanks loulou - I am on the case, and btw the idea of a waterbirth sounds lovely; to be honest I am totally open to suggestions and wouldn't rule it out at this stage.
Good luck with your move Loulou and castles - gosh my last house move was so traumatic I never would have coped
x

castlesintheair · 18/09/2006 16:18

Managed to pack 2 (large) boxes of stuff we NEVER use and then neighbour popped round with box of chocolates. DD & I have just eaten top layer so now feel too sick to do anything! DH made me laugh when he said the removal guy will be really chuffed you've packed things in boxes as most people probably just fill a few plastic bags up. Men, they really have no idea!

weirdbird · 18/09/2006 16:57

I want a Home water Birth, am looking into the best pool to purchase / hire at the moment!

Can't believe that one week into school my DD is off sick!!

She woke up last night sounding awful, could hardly breath, she seems ok today except for the fact that she obviously has a sore throat and sounds like her voice is about to go at any second.

Calmriver · 18/09/2006 19:21

Hi WB, sorry your DD's not well, thats typical to happen though. My DD is also feeling a bit rough at the moment, with a cold, cough etc.

Is anyone else suffering with MTMS(Miss the mouth syndrome) I seem to be missing mine constantly and ouring stuff onto my bump instead.

My stomach has suddenly sprouted and people are treating me like I'm about to pop. Especially the people in busses, lifts etc.

It's a little scarey!

accessorizequeen · 18/09/2006 20:57

Evenin all, sounds as though it's all getting a bit stressed at this point. Moving house, insomnia, colds, cramps, indigestion - poor December mums!!
Congrats on the amby, jabber, I sooo want one now.

Rubystar77 · 18/09/2006 21:18

hi, i couldn't imagine the stress of moving right now, its hard enough running a house, working and having a ten month old, was out shopping today and she kept throwing dummy, i could bearly pick it up, i was shattered when i got home, roll on december.. 12 weeks and counting, yes i would recommend water birth, i had labour out of water and got in the last hour and gave birth in there, more private and clean, my mum thought it was amazing and less stressful for baby, she believes this is why my daughter is very happy!

lucy5 · 18/09/2006 21:29

Oh I'm to have the choice of a waterbirth. Here in Spain, you ask no questions, stick your feet in the stirrups and get on with it, if the baby doesn't come quickly enough, they push on your stomach!!!!!!!! How will I manage with no gas and air?????????

jabberwocky · 18/09/2006 22:43

Hi everyone, just got up from a nap but you're all probably down asleep again!

castles, I can't imagine moving right now. You have my deepest sympathy. We're remodeling and all I have to do is box up two rooms. I keep looking at it wondering how it's going to get done in time...

RedLorry, dh can be very opinionated about all things baby-related. He has really driven me nuts with ds. This time around I've just stopped asking his opinion

spinamum · 19/09/2006 10:22

castles and loulou, I tip my virtual hat to your energy to move at this point. I get out of breath climbing the stairs at work each morning and when we moved almost a year ago(so def not pg!) we got the removals guys to do our packing for us

my now INFAMOUS buggy has turned up so I'm greatly relieved as I stayed in on Friday cos she said it would be with me at the latest then. It didn't show up til 7 last night.[phew emoticon]i put it together last night and just need to work out how to change it from four to three wheel mode. DH i think is secretly admiring it but won't admit it. He just said"gosh it's BIG". He'll see I'm right in the end!!!!! I just wish I'd bought the buggy I wanted last time instead of compromising (ie deciding not to argue with DH!)

Loulou000 · 19/09/2006 10:24

Ha ha yes calmriver, I'm forever dribbling water down my front.

Oh Lucy that sounds hard. Don't they have gas and air in spain either?

castlesintheair · 19/09/2006 14:26

Thanks for all the kind words about me moving. I feel very sorry for myself and am currently doing anything to avoid packing. It is endless!

Thanks for the tip about tonic water for cramp, can't remember who it was. No cramp for 3 nights now. I really recommend it.

Weirdbird, my DS is getting a cold, 2nd week into term so sympathy for you. You forget when they have been soooo healthy all summer ...

Not suffering from MTMS Calmriver but am certainly suffering from Drop Everything Syndrome. Not helping with packing very much but certainly reducing what I have to unpack at the other end
