Hi All, thought I would start a 3rd trimester thread, as most are past 23 weeks now!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Calmriver · 10/09/2006 22:17

Jabs, thats exactly what it feels like!!!

Tight for me to take a deep breath in too.

I have got so much going on in my head at the moment re.routines, sleep patterns for DD,nursery start times etc...I just want to make it as easy as I possibly can for when new DD arrives!

Yeay for the photoshoot, Magnolia! And thanks for your lovely post on the other thread, was just what I needed.
Low tightness, yes - me, too. Combined with extreme wriggling on both sides of belly (very odd feeling when sleeping on either side, like a hamster on a wheel in there).
Just watched the Full Monty again, and the baby seemed to like it - felt like she was laughing as much as I was
Good luck to all the new school-ers and nursery-ers tomorrow: will think of you as I head for the nursery gates for the first time [nervous grin icon]

Elibean · 10/09/2006 22:46

Forgot - has anyone else developed a pregnancy cough/wheeze? I mostly feel it in the evenings, and only if lying down - might be to do with reflux, or hormones, or neither??

jabberwocky · 10/09/2006 23:39

Well, I'm coughing with my cold right now, so we'll see if it lasts longer than the cold. Of course, I cough when my asthma acts up too, so I may never know if any of it is pregnancy related or not.

castlesintheair · 11/09/2006 10:04

How did it go this morning Elibean? Was thinking about you So far so good here for DS on his 1st morning at school. I jumped when the phone rang though! DD is very quiet, missing her brother. I'm trying to be jolly but it is SOOOOOO quiet without him, what will it be like when they are both at school/nursery? I know what it must have been like for my mum now when we got packed off to boarding school as babies (seemed like it anyway) and I'm getting my DS back at lunchtime!!!

Yes, Jabber, my bump is like a bag of cement too. Brilliant description - will tell DH tonight!

Well done on the photoshoot Magnolia btw. You are a brave woman in my opinion.

Elibean · 11/09/2006 10:22

It was Chaos (deliberate use of capital) with stressed teachers/helpers, anxious Mums miling around, and all the kids looking dazed and pale faced. But dd kissed me goodbye and got on with some playdough...my guess is she'll be ok for an hour or so till the novelty wears off, then get overwhelmed and upset (she's really tired, think she's coming down with another cold).
And I just jumped when the phone rang!
I'm glad your ds is ok, Castles, fingers crossed they all settle down and love it...(us included, in fact ).
Jabber, hope you feel better soon - is it a real stinker?

Elibean · 11/09/2006 10:23

And thanks for asking!

castlesintheair · 11/09/2006 10:41

Yes, Elibean, someone reassuringly (where is the sarcasm emoticon??) said to me that after a couple of days the novelty wears off and that's when they get upset! Well, I am going to remain positive and have decided that won't happen to us ! My DD starts on Friday at nursery - I think that will be more of challenge!

Elibean · 11/09/2006 10:48

Good for you! Blimey, two in one week...you are going to be one strong woman by the weekend
Unfortunately for me, I have experienced the second/third day backlash thing with dd twice before - at Easter and Summer playschool, at my friend's little nursery. She loved the first day, tolerated the second, and point blank refused the third
That said, I've not yet had the experience of ploughing through to the fourth - because the holiday playschools were just three mornings each - and maybe thats the breakthrough brilliant one? Am going to hang onto that thought!

Elibean · 11/09/2006 10:51

And maybe the backlash thing, if it happens at all, only happens with nursery age and not reception....and then not with all kids, surely....and much more manageable with a five year old...(ie please don't let my dd's pattern spoil your positivity for ds!)

castlesintheair · 11/09/2006 10:58

Well if it's any consolation I never had any trouble with DS at nursery except for when he was ill (which is quite often at nursery unfortunately) and he was classed as SN last year. He has a few problems but he is a very friendly, happy little chap so it's not surprising really. Girls are different though but I think once they find a friend they are usually ok. Here's hoping anyway

castlesintheair · 11/09/2006 11:00

Yes, EB, I think there is a huge difference between a 2.5 year old and a 4.5 year old, even boys versus girls! And that is why (so far) it has been so easy for DS.

castlesintheair · 11/09/2006 11:02

DS's teacher told me some children starting reception this year haven't even been to nursery Surely that must be hard?

Wa-hay! 3 posts in a row!

Elibean · 11/09/2006 11:06

Next time, go for four - it would be a record
Can you tell I'm hanging around anxiously, instead of doing something useful this morning?!
Your ds sounds lovely, if he had such an easy time with nursery I bet he'll be the same with primary.

castlesintheair · 11/09/2006 11:14

Just like me EB, I could be out enjoying the sunshine with DD but instead I'm moping about at home achieving very little!! Thank you, yes DS is lovely! I think your DD will be fine too. They are a constant surprise and it is harder with the 1st (for us) but I think they are braver than we give them credit for.

I'm turning into a sentimental old fool, I better get off before I start blubbing!

jabberwocky · 11/09/2006 11:28

Hi everyone, I've decided to clean our home office while MNing so as to feel productive [insert smug feeling emoticon here] I wonder how long this little energy burst will last? 10 minutes? 15?

Elibean, it seems that the worst is over. I think it was a horrid, horrid, but mostly 48 hour thing. Dh has it now.On Saturday I was honestly thinking it felt like the flu. But, much better today, thank goodness as I go in for my diabetes test. Got to drink that orange stuff. Is it very bad tasting?

Elibean · 11/09/2006 13:38

Orange stuff...might not be exactly the same for you (its Lucozade for us, at least mine was - a sort of energy drink) but mine was fairly small (300mls) and not too bad as it turned out. Probably because I was really really thirsty when I drank it - would advise trying for the same! Glad you're feeling better, Jabber, sounds nasty.
Castles, dd lasted the whole morning - unlike me, I turned up at the gates 15 minutes early with a couple of other anxious Mums and got ticked off 'you haven't had a phone call, ladies' dd was fine, if a bit hyper, told me she cried once then ate her snack (seemed to be her favourite activity) and played with PINK playdough. So you were right, you wise second time Mum you. Thanks for bearing with my neurotic waffles this morning and I hope ds had a good time, and continues to.

castlesintheair · 11/09/2006 15:01

Glad the morning went well Elibean. Your comment about the snack being your DD's favourite activity made me laugh. For about a term whenever I asked DS what he had done that morning at nursery he'd say "ate a chocolate biscuit". You aren't neurotic at all, it's all normal. You wait, in a few weeks, I'll be posting desperately on the education threads!

We had a mixed report (which I was expecting and dreading ) but he seems happy enough and to me that's what is important. We shall see how it goes tomorrow ...

Glad you are feeling better Jabber. I had the diabetes test with DS. Took all morning which was a bit tedious. I turned out to be borderline and obstetrician told me it was because I was eating too much fruit! So much for being healthy, I gave up with DD

Calmriver · 11/09/2006 16:38

FYbogel rules!!!!

OP posts:
Loulou000 · 11/09/2006 16:45

Leaking? Argh! No sign yet. There's one pregnancy symptom I didn't know you could even have. I wonder what else is waiting round the corner for me. So far I've only had sickness, lots of tiredness, a brain that has turned to fluff, sleeplessness and swollen ankles. Unless you count developing breasts that are so big they have their own gravitational field.

Does anyone else feel amazed at how far we've come already? When I started posting here I couldn't really imagine being in the third trimester. Seems like yesterday.

jabberwocky · 11/09/2006 18:37

No gestational diabetes and I only gained 3 1/2 pounds this month!

magnolia1 · 11/09/2006 19:00

I have awful Sciatica can't get out of bed or up from a chair without crying out in pain. Going to docs tomorrow in the hope that she will give me codiene (had this with previous pg)
Have physio next monday and she wants me to wear a maternity support belt

I have 6 school runs a day and walking hurts!!

Ok thats my moan for now sorry

lucy5 · 11/09/2006 20:27

Hello, I am going to have a moan too! I had to go for GTT at the hospitial today and a scan. I ended up having four lots of blood taken with an hour weight between each! I had the scan appointment at the same time, so had to keep going between the two, great for someone with high blood pressure!!!!!!! Anyway, scan was fine and actually got a good view of the baby, s/he was blowing bubbles, it was so cute. They have told me that I am having a big baby but I don't know if that is by Spanish standards. at 27 weeks s/he is 1.530 kgs or 3.37lbs on the 90th percentile. I am a bit panicked as dh is 1 of 7 all weighing no less than 10 lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!

Elibean · 11/09/2006 20:29

Ouch, Magnolia, you poor love...I've had sciatica in early pregnancy, and it was awful. I am sure you've tried all the usual tricks (frozen peas alternated with hot water bottle, etc) perhaps the maternity belt will help?? Here's wishing you codeine, if that helped last time...
Congrats on the no gd (and low weight gain!) Jabber....you just reminded me I forgot again to ring and get my gd results..
Am retiring early, as has dd, both of us apparently exhausted by the stress of first day at nursery, even though it went fine. Can't belive how knackered I am, in fact.

Elibean · 11/09/2006 20:31

X post Lucy - just a quick congrats on your bonny big baby yes, I think thats fairly big by UK standards too, mine was just under 2lbs at 26 weeks which was average?
Blowing bubbles, so sweet....
