Hi All, thought I would start a 3rd trimester thread, as most are past 23 weeks now!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Redlorry75 · 11/09/2006 20:31

Thought I broke toe yesterday by stubbing it hard on couch as it swelled and turned purple. Doc said it was just badly bruised. However he has threatened to sign me off work for 2 weeks unless work are nicer to me and fix the air/con - looking forward to threatening boss with that tomorrow!

lucy5 · 11/09/2006 20:37

Well done Eli on getting through the first day! It's emotionally exhausting.

Sorry for everyone elses aches and pains. Rest up if you can!

Morningnewspaper · 11/09/2006 20:54

I had my 28 week appointment today and she didn't say anything about the size of baby - oh no - have I missed out?? Spain sounds great . My moan today is that I forgot to ask and she didn't offer me a MATB1 cert so that i can claim maternity leave!!! Disaster!!!! Does anyone know if we can get them from our GP?? It's closer than me going back to the hospital. Or should I just wait until my 34 week appointment? So cross with myself!

Redlorry75 · 11/09/2006 21:09

Morningnewspaper - ask them to post you your MATB1, wlse you will loose out - your G might be able to help!

Now can anyone help me - no shoes fit me, even my flipflops, with my bruised tow and blister from flipflops, plus swollen feet I am resigned to comy old slippers or bare feet - neither are any good for work!

Morningnewspaper · 11/09/2006 21:31

Good idea - I will attempt to get through to them tomorrow. Your toe sounds SO sore - horribly painful things when they go wrong aren't they?!?!

I would advise a couple of days off work at least - don't you think Can you hire a set of crutches from the hospital??

jabberwocky · 12/09/2006 00:39

So sorry to hear about sore toes, sciatica and general tiredness. I was so tired for the first 5 months I feel like I'm just now getting that 2nd trimester buzz, even though it's the 3rd. Probably will be gone after this week, though.

I have no idea what to do for sciatica, magnolia, but does it help if you lie in a certain position? I think baby's position can certainly make it worse.

As for shoes, with ds my feet were so swollen that Birkenstocks were the only thing I could wear. They are very comfy, you might give them a try.

Morningnewspaper · 12/09/2006 08:39

Hi Magnolia - congrats on doing the shoot!! When is it out - I want to see what I missed . I'm sorry about your sciatica - miserable! Try lying on your side with a pillow between your knees, putting an ice pack on your low back for 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off, doing some knee hugs (belly permitting!) and going to see an osteopath if none of that seems to help. They will gently unwind you and decompress the nerve without any harm to you or baby!

accessorizequeen · 12/09/2006 08:44

Goodness, you're all having a rough week! I'm just suffering from insomnia, up until 2, but glad to hear fuzzy brain is general symptom of pg as I cannot think straight at all & it's driving me crazy. Fed up with dp as he didn't come to bed until midnight despite my asking twice (I can't sleep when I know he's going to wake me up). Actually not speaking to him, am so cross.

Redlorry, why not try crocs, seem popular for pg? I just bought some, they seem megacomfy but mine were too big so have to send them back. Try ebay, I got some professional ones for 29 quid (look a bit smarter than cayman).

M1 (fantastic on the photo shoot btw!), there are 2 threads on maternity belts in products at the mo' but I also saw some v.stretchy support vests on mothersbliss.com which might help (and look nicer?).

MNP, I too went to gp specifically for MatB1 thingy and forgot (in my haste to get giant gaviscon bottle on prescription), but gp can definitely do it for you, she did mine last time.

End of typical librarian-type post from AQ.

Loulou000 · 12/09/2006 09:42

Sorry to hear of everyone's aches and pains this morning!

Redlorry, I can't get into anything but Birkies either. Don't know what I will do when the weather really turns. Buy some big comfy unattractive shoes, I guess. What are crocs??

Loulou000 · 12/09/2006 09:43

Oh I forgot what I actually meant to post about. Has anyone used the biodegradable disposable nappies? People keep telling me washable nappies are horrid and just as bad for the environment as disposables, so maybe this third way is the way. A friend of mine has bought some Moltex ones - any reports?

Morningnewspaper · 12/09/2006 09:51

oooh I'd be interested in hearing about those too - I shall wait with baited breath....!

Redlorry75 · 12/09/2006 09:54

Thanks for the suggestion of Crocs, I had looked at them longingly, but DH pulled a face - however I am pregnant after all and my feet come first - besides I kind of like them!

Had a look on e-bay but am a bit concerned in case I get a wrong size - worth a trip to the shops I think just to make sure I get a really comfy pair. Thinking of pink or bright orange!

Redlorry75 · 12/09/2006 09:58

Just read the question about the nappies. My friend uses those and they are just like disposable ones - but they are made from maize so they breakdown easily in the enviornment. - The sole reason I did'nt use them was that I shop at Tesco's and I am only aware of Sainsbury's selling them, which I cant get to. - I think they ar made by Organix? I am sure they were made by one of the babyfood companies.
She gave me one to try and I saw absolutley no difference in performance. Perhpas we should petition Tesco to stock them.

Devongirl · 12/09/2006 10:19

Bleuuuugh am off work today, my cold is not getting any better and at midwife's this morning she just went "Blimey, you look awful" which made me feel even worse if possible. She reckons the cold may have turned to infected sinuses as my eyes and nose are all puffy.

I am sooo fed up of whinging when I just want to enjoy my pregnancy.

Gonna lie on the sofa and watch rubbish tv all day, for the first time since I was at uni I think!

Sorry for everyone else's moans, we're a happy old bunch aren't we?

x

Elibean · 12/09/2006 10:50

Oooh, the season of mists and mellow fruitfullness and horrible snotty colds....sorry to hear you're suffering Devongirl, hope its a shortlived one. Might join you with some rubbish tv in a minute, not suffering but still knackered from yesterday and dh, bless him, has taken dd to park
Re biodegradable nappies...I was thinking of them too, but read an article pointing out that unless they are composted in your own compost heap/wormery, they will sit and do nothing in a landfill as much as any other sort, 'cos no air or rain can get to them there. I've decided to try 'real' nappies this time - but friends have advised me to be gentle with myself, let myself use disposables (biodegradable or not) for the first couple of weeks if needs be, for outings, etc. In other words, to not overwhelm myself. So I'm stocked up - to dh's utter disbelief
Hope the toes and other ills get better soon xxx
And Castles, thinking of your ds again today - glad he enjoyed it, and I wouldn't worry too much about mixed reports either (better to start mixed than to start perfect then swing wildly in t'other direction). Hope he enjoys today too!

Elibean · 12/09/2006 10:52

Unless the Organix nappies biodegrade somewhere other than in a rubbish bin?? If I'm missing something, I'd love to know - not that stocked up on real ones yet!

lucy5 · 12/09/2006 11:04

Hello, i'm going to watch rubbish tv today too, am feeling tired today after yesterdays meeting with Dracula

Elibean · 12/09/2006 11:09

Hows the heartburn Lucy? Did you find some Zantac?
Right, off to grab tv for ten minutes now before its too late...

lucy5 · 12/09/2006 11:10

Thanks elibean, heartburn seems ok this week! One less thing to moan about!

Elibean · 12/09/2006 11:12
Smile
Elibean · 12/09/2006 11:12

And, come to think of it,

accessorizequeen · 12/09/2006 12:09

devong, sounds like you've got same thing I had, I went on antibiotics to sort out the sinuses so perhaps go see the gp? I couldn't function, it was awful but ab's fixed it in 2 days.
Will have to come back to this nappy discussion later, we've seriously discussed buying wormery already! There was review in Junior last month, I shall look it up as there's more than 1 brand of biodegradable out now.

Loulou000 · 12/09/2006 12:18

Hehe maybe this is the answer for the super-environmentally friendly mum - biodegradables and a wormery! Shall do some research.

accessorizequeen · 12/09/2006 12:52

Must find the thread on this from a couple of months ago, it was brilliant! It's just that biodegradables are so expensive compared to tesco own brand + cost of wormery. Meant to be getting lady round to show me cloth nappies, I'm absolutely committed to not using disposables again. DP says I'll give up in a month, but I really think I'll give it a go although perhaps the first few weeks are not ideal to start. Newborn poo so runny!!

Calmriver · 12/09/2006 12:54

Got myself some sexy panties and had my hair done today!...somehow, doing nothing but watching rubbish TV sounds even better!!! Going to do that with you guys for the rest of the day.

In a few weeks, when everyone is on maternity leave, we are all going to get so bored and anxious! Do nothing but post on MN and wait to here exciting birth stories!

What do you guys think? I remember with DD1, we all thought we were in labour all the time, it was very funny now thinking back!
