Glad everything was ok euro. Even happier to hear you've managed to get rid of the infection without horrible antibiotics!

Still getting pain, feels like the only way its going to get better is if I push Confused that's how bad It is. Had me crying before.

weeza13 · 08/05/2014 16:51

Hello to newbies. Monster, I really feel for you its bad enough to be in pain or to be worried but worse to have both. I hope you get some answers soon. I finally went to doctors for gaviscon due to permenant indegestion but didn't realise until I opened it its aniseed! Stinks like sambuca. Got really achy hips today and just got letter about whooping cough jab. Not a lot of info with it so will have to hit google. Am really counting down until mat leave now, cannot believe I have 7 weeks of work left and 11 until due date omg!!!!

thatwhichwecallarose · 08/05/2014 18:12

So back from midwife. Baby is measuring big (32 weeks but I'm 28) so got to go back in 3 weeks. Got to hear lovely strong heartbeat again. Midwife thinks girl - we'll know by this time tomorrow if she's right!

Feeling a bit nervous about gtt results. There's been a trace of urine in every sample so far plus big baby = gd? Hope not! If nothing else I have tickets to a musical 11 days before due date so don't want to be early!!!

mssleepyhead · 08/05/2014 19:57

weeza - been given a leaflet about whooping cough too but thought the same thing. seems to say very little apart from: "they do it in the USA and that seems to be fine"... hmmm... anyone else decided whether to have it or not?

i also had a trace in my urine at 24 weeks appointment. was supposed to cut down on sugar a bit to see if i could fix it, but today i demolished a bag of tangfastic haribos instead. eep.

FriendofDorothy · 08/05/2014 20:04

I had the whooping cough vaccine last time I was pregnant and will definitely have it again if they say I need it.

Whooping cough is a horrible illness and if there is anyway to prevent it then I will.

topmammy · 08/05/2014 21:25

I'm going to have the whooping cough jab definitely. My mum is a MW and she recommends having it. A baby with whooping cough is just an awful thought :(

Thanks Ilove x

eurochick · 08/05/2014 22:25

I'm in two minds. Whooping cough is awful for newborns, but there seem to be doubts about whether vaccinating mothers provides the baby protection. And those doubts are stronger if the mother hasn't had WC or been vaccinated herself (which is my position - it wasn't offered when I was younger). And the baby has its own jab at I think 8 weeks, so it is only to cover that period. I'm generally pro-vaccine, but I have my doubts as to whether this one is worthwhile. On the other hand, there seems to be little downside to it.

monsters I know you were checked out by the hospital, but have you spoken to your own mw?

FriendofDorothy · 09/05/2014 08:12

It's another bank holiday for us in Guernsey today. It's Liberation Day which celebrates the anniversary of the date the island was liberated form the German occupying forces. 69 years of freedom today :)

ilovemonstersInc · 09/05/2014 08:49

Happy liberation day Dorothy
I didn't have the wc vaccine last time and probably won't this time.

euro I dont have my own mw as im 100% under the hospital for consultant care. Im going to try and get hold of her today and ask if I can see her next week. Theres no way these pains are normal. If I had these pains when I wasnt pregnant I would go to a+e thats how bad they get. Atm I have no pain. Last night I had pain a few times and couldn't sit down. Laying in bed hurt too. When I got up it still hurt but was more bearable. The closest pain ive had to it is labour pain and thats how it feels but on and off. I get the bh too which are now painful too, have to breathe through them. Sorry all I seem to do here is complain Blush

lucyfluff · 09/05/2014 09:16

Morning!! Ouch monsters, that sounds painful Sad is this baby number 4 for you?? I would say my BH have been earlier and more uncomfortable on this pregnancy so it could just be baby in an awkward position causing pain?? I would pester your MW and ask for a home visit to check you over again if its difficult to get to hospital...good luck and let us know how you get on Smile

Ive got the GP tonight, initially booked for hayfever but my armpit has flared up so want it checked over as its quite tender Sad boo hoo!!!

lucyfluff · 09/05/2014 09:17

also having the whooping jab, I would never forgive myself if bubba got poorly with it Smile

Rosie19792 · 09/05/2014 09:34

Hi All, posting for the first time, been a lurker for a while, but wanted to ask some advice on sleeping. Um, anyone else having a few problems?

I've been really lucky with my pregnancy so far, and I go to sleep fine on my left side, but wake up, routinely, every morning at 3am on my back, and then can't go back to sleep!

I spoke to my midwife about it really briefly (she was nice, but my 25 week appt was quite rushed), and she thought that it was being on my back that was making me wake up, and was nothing to worry about. But that was about as far as we got!

Anyone got any ideas as to how I can wedge myself so that I don't roll onto my back in the night and wake myself up? I think this is the problem. I've tried rolled up towels and pillows, but I still wake up on my back. Foam wedge?!! Any thoughts appreciated!

flymo79 · 09/05/2014 09:48

Hi Rosie - I just use a pillow at my back, seems to stop me rolling over.
Can I just chekc whether people who have been offered whooping cough vaccine asked about it in advance or are you just getting automatically offered it? I keep having to remind/ask my midwife things, it's quite annoying really!

Rosie19792 · 09/05/2014 10:57

Thanks Flymo - I think I just end up wiggling the pillow away in my sleep? :-(

On whooping cough, I got a letter from my surgery about it, but also my midwife mentioned it in my 25 week appt. Can only actually have it after 28 weeks I think.

eurochick · 09/05/2014 11:06

flymo it was mentioned to me at my booking in appointment (flu jab was mentioned at the same time). I was told to book in with the GP to have them if I wanted them.

I spend a bit of time on my back too, but not too much I think. I'm mostly a side sleeper anyway. Maybe a wedge pillow would help? I've just ordered a Dream Genii. Hopefully having that around the bump and between my legs will stop my hips aching in the mornings.

Happy liberation day dor.

monsters that doesn't sound right at all. Could it be an infection? I think you need to keep pressing. You shouldn't be in that much pain.

ilovemonstersInc · 09/05/2014 12:38

Id rather it be an infection which can be treated soon rather than not knowing. Ive not had much pain this morning so hopefully it stays that way.

Been very eventful here this morning

how is everyone

HungryHorace · 09/05/2014 13:50

Monsters, TMI question here: how're your bowel movements? Could you have severe constipation? As your bowels are so squashed the pain may not be where you'd expect it. But you definitely need to push for help. The midwives at the hospital will help if you call. Xx

Not sleeping is a common pregnancy thing, sadly. I agree that a wedge / pregnancy pillow may help.

ilovemonstersInc · 09/05/2014 13:54

Bm are ok, little looser than usual but not full on diarrhoea (so not overflow) from all morning ive started with a bit of pain now. Will ring the a.n mw again x

thatwhichwecallarose · 09/05/2014 17:36

Flymo - my midwife just text me because she forgot to mention it yesterday. Another choice to make!!!

Had 4d scan today. Was lovely. Baby not moving much but we did get to see her try to suck her thumb. Very cute!!!

Oh yes, and it's a girl!!!!!

weeza13 · 10/05/2014 07:45

Flymo, you cannot have jab before 28 weeks. I got letter sent from local surgery. I have been told by friends, do not have it in left arm as it hurts when you sleep on left side.

topmammy · 10/05/2014 12:53

Yum yum just had tinned kippers in sunflower oil, look gross but so tasty. Never liked them before pregnancy though!

Baby has just jabbed me or turned on the front of bump below belly button but a bit to the left, feels sooo weird like an electric shock and almost makes me wince for a second or two. Only felt this particular feeling once before about a week or so ago. Does anyone think it sounds like it could be BH?

ilovemonstersInc · 10/05/2014 18:43

Bh is like tightenings across bump.
there's baby event on at boots good offers on for bottle starter sets, wipes etc

Tc80 · 11/05/2014 18:29

Hi all what's everyone's view on how much movement you should be feeling? I'm 27 weeks today and apparently you should be feeling 10 movements/kicks per hour but I'm not feeling anything like that, I don't really know what's normal being a first timer can anyone advise?

weeza13 · 11/05/2014 19:55

TC80, don't worry about movement per hour as your baby will be sleeping and resting a lot. I was told to feel for regular patterns that form during a 12 hour awake period, ie your working day and if some time has passed when you have been busy don't panic as you may have just not noticed as you were busy or you have rocked bubba to sleep by moving about. If you feel nothing for say a morning or afternoon try a cold drink or sugar snack/drink and see if that wakes him/her up, if still no movement then call mw for advice. Hope this helps you to stress a bit less.

HungryHorace · 11/05/2014 20:30

Weeza's right...the 10 movements thing isn't current advice, it's all about knowing your baby's regular pattern and noting if it changes.

Your baby will be getting much stronger soon and you'll be seriously battered!
