Might see about the sick bands for home, don't want to be wearing them at work. Used to have to wear them when I was young as I got horrific travel sickness (although I would doubt that they actually worked back then).

trying29 · 02/05/2014 07:47

ok thanks for the advice! i did two the day i found out, a digital and a normal which both showed pregnant. im off to the doctors for my first appointment next wednesday so i wont test more. i guess they will do a test there?

SassehMonsta · 02/05/2014 07:55

bighairy I'm going to steal point 3 please ;-)

Travel sickness bands helped for a couple of weeks but taken them of for a bit as got bruising on my wrists :( Thought of another aim today - successfully host dinner without wanting to vomit into the spaghetti Bolognese....

HI trying, generally the docs don't test as home tests are very reliable, they will probably just tell you a bit about antenatal care and remind you to take vitamins!

At work and so pleased it is Friday. Nausea is a nightmare. Can't remember how long it lasted last time, think it hung about until early in the second trimester but hoping it buggers off sooner this time!

On the up side I have learned to do chain stitch and double crochet which looks kinda right so quite pleased. Next step is the magic circle!

I saw my mum on Wednesday and she asked if I was pregnant, I know you want another baby, she said, are you pregnant now? I lied Blush. Just not ready to blurt it out (especially on my own with no dh or my sisters), I said maybe next year and she seemed resigned. "Think about it carefully" she said, and then, "but it's your life". So, she won't be too shocked at least when I do admit the truth but feel bad about not fessing up there and then.

Oh I have found some hot water and lemon helps a bit with nausea but nothing works for long annoyingly!

Natasha - I didn't have much sickness in my first pregnancy so don't worry, some folk are just lucky that way!

Ohhdaddy have a great time at the wedding, and spider hope you manage a poo the day!

Ladylel · 02/05/2014 08:06

Well this morning was not pleasant. Started retching midwalk with the dog as well as get gurgly stomach.
warning TMI Made it back home in time to majorly vom, followed by diarrhoea (quick movement to sit in time)
It's not even 9am, is it home time yet?

CallingAllEngels · 02/05/2014 08:21

Oh no ladyl . Sorry to everyone who's suffering. Still only mild nausea here, not enough to put me off any food, but tiredness is kicking my arse and my skin is hideous. Still on holiday, no work till Tuesday but I have a stack of marking and no idea when it's goign to get done. Must haul myself out mm to the supermarket in a minute...lots of fruit and veg on the menu!

worrier24 · 02/05/2014 08:30

Is it normal to be nauseous the whole day through- wreching abt 3 to 4 times a day and vomit when there is something to exit ? Everything makes me feel sick- its it just the first time pregnant that does this?

Pepsiaddict · 02/05/2014 09:00

Hi worrier, morning sickness is a misnomer and you can be nauseous 24/7. Last pregnancy the only time I got relief was when I was asleep. If it is really bad worth a phonecall to your GP as may be worth trying antiemetics, particularly if you can't eat or drink

Somersetgirl1990 · 02/05/2014 09:14

Worrier I'm the same! But I find that eating little snacks all the time really helps. But anything sets me off Hmm can't even feed the cat and dog without retching Confused

ffallada · 02/05/2014 09:43

Hello ladies,
Popping back in - seems ages since I was last here - glad to see so many peps are doing well.
I had a nhs early scan last week and saw the wee blighters heart beating like an unstoppable train.
Oddly, I am still experiencing daily some brown spotting (sorry if that's tmi) but I thought I'd mention it incase any other ladies had the same and were worried.
Can't wait until the twelve week mark and we can start discussing practical things insted of symptoms - I'm really looking forward to sorting out some of the niggiling worries building in the backof my head.

I feel so aweful the gp gave me anti-nausea tablets but told me they hadn't been tested on pregnant women so it was really best not to take them / so now I am too scared to!
Don't you think you could ignore these symptoms better if we could sort out practical things like nappies?

SassehMonsta · 02/05/2014 09:47

Im also the same worrier. Today has been awful so far - dh in bed with migraine, feeling shit all round Tesco, home to vomit up nothing, then off to work, late as usual! Looked severly bloated/pregnant round Tesco, really uncomfortable.

Walking the dog helped with my nausea but made me more likely tp vomit? Weird.

7+4. (Hurrrrry up!)

ffallada · 02/05/2014 10:05

How is everyone coping with hair dye? My roots are showing but I read that hair dye (am I spelling that right?) should be avoided in the first tri.
Surely not? It's not just vanity (it's a little bit of vanity) people will notice!

EmilyPinkOrBlue · 02/05/2014 10:07

Hi ladylel I've been constipated most of the week and then all of a sudden on the way home yesterday I could feel diarrhoea coming on luckily I managed to get home just in time! It was horrible! I suppose it could just have been a coincidence but I am putting it down to pregnancy symtoms being constipated one minute and then having diarrhoea the next!
Has anyone else not been physically sick? I've wretched while brushing teeth a few times and generally feel sicky/not 100 percent all day but I've not been sick yet. Perhaps that's why I am getting the other ended problems!

A bit late but so sorry to hear your news kidneybean, all the best to you.

Treacle, I had a scan last week at 8+1 for bleeding and they still needed to use the dildo cam to see the heartbeat, I hope you get good news soon.

Sorry to hear people are suffering with ms. I am queasy a lot now, it goes if I eat but I seem to have lost my appetite. Fizzy water is great though, getting through tonnes of the stuff.

Littlesarah, I took up crochet a couple years ago and did a sunburst granny square blanket first, just expect to do a few rubbish squares first as you get the hang of tension. I highly recommend the blog called attic24, she has lovely crochet patterns and most importantly writes her patterns really nice and clearly. Also ravelry.com but you may know that one already from knitting. I haven't crochet for 2 months since finishing an epic stripes double blanket, but you have motivated me to start something new.

Emily I'm not sick either, and I seem to suffer diarrhoea in 1st and 3rd trimester. One of those pregnancy symptoms I completely forgot about until it kicked in a few weeks ago! Joy!

CallingAllEngels · 02/05/2014 10:30

emily I never threw up with ds despite feeling nauseous all the time from 6-12 weeks.

ffallada I found the 1st trimester the most stressful, because you're trying not to worry, feeling shit, trying to hide it from people etc.

My biggest practical issue is going to be decluttering our house and reorganising to make room for the baby. We have everything from ds so not planning to buy much more.

PolytheneGirl · 02/05/2014 10:30

I've just been sick for the first time Sad Strangely today was the first morning I got up without feeling too sick and have felt fine since breakfast then all of a sudden.... Vom! Where the heck did that come from? Fx it's a one off! who am I kidding!

Somersetgirl1990 · 02/05/2014 11:14

Ffallda I had my hair dyed the other day, there's no evidence to suggest it isn't safe, but your hair can take differently to the dye because of hormones. Apparently that's where the myth of not being allowed to dye hair has come from, but my hairdresser assured me it's perfectly safe Smile I couldn't wait another month, it's been 6 months as it is and it was awful! X

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 02/05/2014 11:27

Feeling so so grim and at ILs all day and just want to lie on the sofa moaning!

Knottyknitter · 02/05/2014 11:47

Not been sick; felt pretty awful most of last week....Much better the last 2 days though. Possibly because I'm not fretting about the reaction of the gp2b anymore!

Popped into town on a random day off and sitting in a cafe with a small but incredibly good decaf surrounded by pushchairs. Think I've stumbled on the right caff!!

DrewsWife · 02/05/2014 12:55

Woke up, posted inane crap on fb, are weetabix, back in bed.

What I meant to do...

What's one more. Don't be hard on yourself. You are pregnant. Your body is creating life. Your husband needs a smack on the back of the head for even daring to agree with you.

Peace, poly, drews and anyone else feeling shit, hope you feel better soon.

whatsonemore I don't think there's anything wrong with trying to m a ke healthy choices but don't beat yourself up about eating junk mumbling through left over chocolate eggs right now , don't feel pressured by others (your dh doesn't know how you fell and what you're craving), and don't try to reduce calorie intake too much.

I have resigned myself to eating shit this trimester (nausea's not enough to put me off my chow atm) but hoping my 2nd trimester will be like last time...craving fresh fruit!

I have been a rubbish mum today. We have had Dumbo followed by a double installment of Ice Age. Have just pulled myself off the sofa to make Ds a den and make pizza dough for this evening. I have to do something!!
