Thank you shanels. I'm coming round to the idea now, and maybe getting a little excited. I have my booking apt on Tuesday, and as there is some uncertaincy with dates (could be nine by then or could be 13 - didn't have normal period in March) I'm having scan at the same time. They have said if it is earlier rather than later that I'll have to go back at 12/13 weeks.

Thing is, I've only just had my first midwife apt through and as she's said I have to meet her before I attend booking apt - it has to be on Tuesday Morning, which now means I have to take a full day off work for the two apts. I don't want work to know yet (as only half way through probabtion and I don't want to give them any excuse to sack me - which I know is illegal but they'd dress it up as something else - have seen it already in the short time I have been there) and as I've been on holiday this week, I won't be allowed holiday on Tuesday. I am thinking I am going to have to call in sick. :( Maybe I should just tell them and then cope with it if they sack me- try and get some temp work or something.

I am so nervous about the scan - I know stress isn't good for the baby but I can't help fretting.

Have been househunting too. Ours is too small for us and the DSSes at weekends - add another into the mix and we have no room. More stress!

Go to the nhs website and google shingles/ chickenpox in pregnancy.
My ex boss had shingles but where it wasn't in its infectious stage she was allowed to come to work which I thought was odd as if someone was pregnant(I wasn't at the time)or suseptable I wouldn't want to be risking it!
I always thought if you already a had chickenpox you won't get them again, but if you've never had chicken pox you could be susceptible to shingles later in life....

Havin lots of pains today. Strange sharp pains very annoying. Not too bad. So think I'm stretching out grrrr lol

mopsytop · 25/04/2014 10:28

Hi everyone. Been suffering from several migraines recently so dropped off the thread a bit. I think is a bit long to catch up, so I hope you're all doing well. Quick question: when they say you shouldn't eat any deli meats does that include sliced ham? Like no ham and cheese baguettes or whatever?

Quick

littlegreengloworm · 25/04/2014 11:05

Thank You for the advice.

monkeybaby2 · 25/04/2014 11:52

mopsy I thought it was just cured meats like prosciutto, salami and the like? The thing you need to avoid is listeria (which is rare) so if your sandwich shop is a good one I'd not be worrying about sliced ham.

Minion · 25/04/2014 12:03

I miss cured meats!

Quick question girls, am 6+2 today and seeing a bit less boob pain than previous days. Anyone else have this too?
It seems to be non existent in the morning but throughout the day gets a little more tender usually, however today is a little different.
Doesn't seem to be getting more tender. I know it's really illogical that I'm freaking out but I just cannot shake this feeling something is going wrong.

Anyone else?

monkeybaby2 · 25/04/2014 12:16

minion I have sore nipples and a 'full' feeling in the belly (although that could be the horrendous constipation) but those are my only symptoms and I am 7+2. I also have the fear especially as I've had to let on to people I don't know that well. I think it's just one of those things and I existed in a low state or permanent paranoia with my last pg. if you've no pain or bleeding everything is probably fine. If you're worried it's something else, go get an early scan (£60-75 usually). I had one just before I flew out here to confirm this pg and even at 5+6 there was a teeny tiny heartbeat to put my mind at rest. Stay strong sister, this stuff is designed to give you The Fear about pretty much everything x

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 25/04/2014 12:27

Well I've reached the emosh stage today Confused went to the post office and had the wrong label on the parcel and had a mini meltdown. Then went to get a coffee to cheer myself up and the poor trainee spilt it on my hand. Scalding hot black americano. If I didn't have employees buzzing around me (I manage a shop) I'd just sit under my desk and cry.

Minion · 25/04/2014 12:32

monkey thank you! it's what I needed to hear. They do still hurt, more so at night when I've de-bra'd and standing up. Not so much when lying down, guess that's gravity for you. Nips only hurt when hard, then they feel like needles pricking them.
I've had a little nausea, been sick 3 times but I think it cause I was so full there was no room for anything else and now since inhaling fybogel like there was no tomorrow, constipation has gone.

It's all very confusing!
Wibble.

EmilyPinkOrBlue · 25/04/2014 13:06

I want Brussels pate so badly!! With crusty baguette!! Counting down the days lol think it will be my first meal!

isambardo · 25/04/2014 14:21

Hello all, this thread moves fast!
I haven't posted for two weeks, I've had some brown spotting so didn't feel quite up to joining in. Yesterday I had a fair amount of red blood so saw the doc, and went to epu for a scan today. Never been so relieved as when she said there is a good heartbeat! Officially 8 weeks along and all is well. I'll add my details to the spreadsheet now.
I had to tell my mum so she could take ds when we went to hospital. Dh had to cancel the plumber (a woman) who managed to guess from him mentioning the hospital that I was pregnant and bleeding, so now the plumber knows before all our family, gah!

fallada and whatsonemore all the best to both of you. Also shanels who mentioned brown spotting around the time mine started x

isambardo · 25/04/2014 14:25

Minion, my boob pain varies massively, some days v tender, some days they feel normal. Same with my nausea, I don't know whether to be paranoid or grateful it's not constant.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 25/04/2014 15:03

Oh dear, just smashed a CD so I'd never have to listen to it again :/ everything is annoying me or making me want to cry.

Pickles79 · 25/04/2014 15:15

So, GP sent me for an early scan as I've had some spotting. Can't believe I'm actually typing this, but I'm having twins!!

mopsytop · 25/04/2014 15:22

congrats pickles! Exciting but daunting news!

dottytablecloth · 25/04/2014 15:25

Twins? How exciting!

Lolly84 · 25/04/2014 15:54

Hi mopsy just randomly came accross this thread and see your a migraine sufferer too! I have had my first week without one (I'm nearly 9 weeks). Totally feel your pain. Feel like one is going to strike any minute all the time. Such a horrible feeling isn't it?

Some people are lucky that they go away but mine have got very much worse xx

Treaclepie19 · 25/04/2014 16:21

Eeek pickle!!! How exciting :)

mopsytop · 25/04/2014 16:23

It is awful lolly. Exact same last pregnancy but I went off my medication that time. This time I'm staying on it (amitriptyline), consultant told me at very end of my last pregnancy that it is actually fine to stay on it (Angry wish I'd known at the start) and so far things have defs been better. The week of implantation I'd 5 days of awful kill-yourself type migraines, then in week 5 another 2 and 3 this week. Already better than last time but I'm worried this is the start of the hell. I had 5-6 awful can't-cope-with-the-pain type ones from weeks 6-16 last time. I am v nervous about a repeat Sad Sad Sad Sad So I thoroughly sympathise with you!

mopsytop · 25/04/2014 16:24

I mean 5-6 a week! Not in total. Couldn't go to work or do anything. Was hell.

EmilyPinkOrBlue · 25/04/2014 16:40

Congratulations pickles!!!!! Amazing news!!! My friend has twin boys 20 months old and they are so gorgeous!!!!

Penguin13 · 25/04/2014 16:46

Congratulations Pickles what lovely news. My H is a twin and he is best friends with his twin brother. That must have come as quite a shock!

isambardo · 25/04/2014 16:49

Congratulations pickles! Do you have other children?

Minion · 25/04/2014 16:52

Wonderful news pickles, huge congratulations!
How has your other half taken the news? I think mine would faint but I'd love it!
