Hi I'm here and fine. sorry for not logging on and rabbiting on (as is my wont), but have spent most of week in bed. Nothing serious, though when I went to see my lurverly reflex/cold stone/reiki therapist she tested my back against a plumb line and the bottom of my spine had gone out by over an inch and a half from where it should be, mostly because the baby is lying quite far over to one side and seems to have grown quite large in last couple of weeks. So everything was pulling to one side and causing the pain (I know Marthahm will be nodding sagely at all of this!).
so anyway, had some kind of voodoo treatment called spinal relief (aparantly acupuncture without the pins) which has really really helped but more or less put me to sleep for three days. Am feeling miles better which is a relief as I'd been getting a bit worried about not having the osteo centre close by to keep straightening me out (now I've finally stopped working I don't think I'll be heading back to London any time soon...). Have booked a weekly session with voodoo practitioner to do a combination of spinal relied, reflex & hot stones for two hours every week form now on. Bliss.
Horrible times for your friend, Marthahm, will keep fingers crossed for her.
Good to know everyone is OK, though I feel desperately happy and sad at same time for Kat: must have been very scary to go through all of that and then to get grief from other people on top of everything. Pleased that her baby is a good weight though I guess it will be a while before she can bring her home and fully take over the mum side of things. Hope the baby blues aren't too cruel to her and she sails through next few weeks. Makes it all seem so real now that one of us has done the dead (and so early!!).
Mind you, given Kat's news I am now contemplating in a rather worreid fashion the piles of pink things I have already bought in expectaton of a girl....hope Kat's surprise is a rarity as otherwise I've an awful lot of returns to make....
On the travel system side I also went for one of those ones where the cot bit slots straight into a base in the car - very handy. However I agree with everyone else that you should go for the lightest version you can find otherwise you'll end up dumping everythign in favour of a lightweight mcClaren buggy before you know it...
all that talk of chocolate on the thread, by the way, had bad repurcussions in this household. I'd bought myself some bitter chocolate/ameretto cherry things form M&S as special post-natel treat... had to go swipe them out of my maternity bag and scoff the lot
am in for interesting weekend.... tis my big 4-oh birthday tomorrow and I found out this morning that DH has organised a surprise party for me (well, not much of a surprise any more)...whilst am very touched at thought, he has forgotten to invite some of my very good friends (so will have to be very surreptitious and ensure they dont subsequently find out about it) and he also he hadn't thought about catering much beyond buying a few steaks for the barbie. I now face the prospect of 2 dozen mates coming round when I was really rather anticipating a quiet day with maybe a pizza express raid in the evening. Still, the good news for the guests is that have spent best part of two hours going through recipe books, and will be spending the evening barking out recipe instructions to DH from comfort of living room whilst sipping from a chilled bottle of gasviscon - will be the most effortless party I ever hold, though guess DH will think again before repeating this, once I've finished with him in the kitchen
