Ooh ooh Rumpel baby on the way eh? Good luck girl. Hope all goes well. Keep us posted. Water birth excelent. xx

Rumpel - how exciting! That's exactly how my first started - I can remember sitting up all night reading a book (was v good - Lance Armstrong autobiography!) to see what happened before waking DH at 6am. Good luck!

DashingRedhead · 03/10/2006 17:18

Good luck Rumpel!

I feel as though I've missed so much - I've been in hideously busy handover at work and couldn't keep up with everyone's news. I am now finally on maternity leave. Feeling miles better through not having to commute and work every day. Am probably being ridiculously optimistic, unrealistic first timer, but feel quite happy and am able to potter around the house but not having mad nesting desire to clean everything!

After the fibroid issue, the registrar at the hospital started making noises about gestational diabetes, I could have screamed. But I had the test at the end of last week and everything is fine.

I have ordered my birthpool in a box today! Is everyone feeling more comfortable now that autumn has suddenly made an appearance?

WELL - after my last post on Sunday afternoon my contractions got stronger and stronger. Woke up DH to say I was in labour at three, went in the bath and then went to hospital at five. 5cm dilated when I got there, used the gas and air, waters broke at seven and baby born at 10 past seven! All hell broke loose at the end because his shoulders wouldn't come out but I was out of it on gas/air at this point and don't remember much - MW and two docs rolled me onto my back and pushed about a bit and out he came. Needed a bit of oxygen cos he'd been a bit shocked by it all but was fine. He was 9lb 5oz and amazingly I haven't torn!
We've named him Edward, and he is just absolutely GORGEOUS. Just got home this afternoon - he's been jaundiced so needed his bloods checking - and he's feeding well although my boobs are SORE - I'd forgotten how much hard work starting BFing is.
Going to go and cuddle him now, hope you're all well

congratulations. Really like the name Edward (BIL's name or may well have chosen it ourselves.) Great you had no tearing with such a big baby. Hope you are both doing well. Will copy your post over to the latest Oct thread as Tigerlion started a new one while you were otherwise engaged giving birth!!!!

whiffy · 04/10/2006 12:04

congratulations Bensmum/Sallyrosie. Will see you over on the post natel thread. Good luck Rumpel. Gemmity - did anything happen after your show at the weekend???? So exciting seeing everything gearing up for everybody.

NowNice, I was exactly the same just before DD arrived - convinced I woulod never cope with two. And sure enough I can't I had hardly any sleep last night but never mind. At one point in the early hours I had them both crying their eyes out either side of me on the bed - DD needed feeding but was too upset to latch on and DS was all clingy and upset because he didn't want DD eating mummys' boobies..... rather wished I was in the spare room with DH....

Oh and by the way, Nownice, am hoping to catch up with you in November.... our holiday apartment in Nice is FINALLY complete (have been waiting, oooooh, 2 years now....) so we are coming out to fit it all out next mth, perfect opportunity for exotic meet-up in the sunshine if you fancy? The apartment is at the top of corniche bellevue if you know the area... we are hoping to enjoy the place in the few weeks between now and going bankrupt, thanks to measly SMP levels.

Oh, and Emzickle, I can top your tesco experience. went out for my first trip out since I got home from hospital (bloody C-sections! Can't drive anywahere by myself at mo). Checkout woman at Tescos took one look at me and asked when the baby was due. harumph.

whiffy · 04/10/2006 12:05

oh have just seen theres a new thread... will hop over there...

LeilaB · 12/10/2006 16:48

I wonder if any of you may be able to help me.

My name is Leila and as well as working at Great Ormond Street Hospital I am beginning my child psychotherapy training at the Tavistock Clinic. A requirement of this NHS training course is to observe a baby and mother (or father) for 1 hour per week for 2 years. The purpose is to observe the development of the baby and to train me in observation skills.

It is important that I observe a very new-born baby, which means that I am looking for a baby due in October or November and living in North London.

If anyone would be interested or has any questions they can contact me on: [email protected] or I can give you my phone number.

Thank you
Leila

Leila, this thread isn't being used any more.
You might have more luck trying the thread called Overtired, overemotional, it's October - or something like that.
Sorry, I'm of no use to you, I live in France.
