hello there -- it's my first ever post and i'm sitting here with a massive baby and am 2 weeks overdue..sick of raspberry leaf tea, pineapple, homeopathy..going for a sweep at 2pm and feeling anxious..last 2 weren't as late as this..any advice?

emzickle · 02/10/2006 11:04

got a MW appointment in a while, hopefully she will tell me my BP has stabalised enough for me to not have to have baby at hospital, because Im dreading it.

The Golden Hour? My sister had her baby on Friday morning at 6am, her LO was left to cuddle on her tummy, completely skin to skin for over two and a half hours just covered up with a scrummy blanket, apparently it was very nice just to get to know her without any one interfering or prodding around.

I feel huge today, and frankly, a bit miffed at DH whining like a child at me, because HE was late for work, and I hadnt hung the washing out etc... poo head.

So, everyone ok? Any one doing any thing exciting today?

Swizzler · 02/10/2006 12:37

Just cleaned the bathroom: does that count as exciting?

Rumpel: lol at giving birth to a toddler - I feel like that as well. This baby seems to have a huge bony arse and generally feels massive. Quite how it's going to come out I don't know (well, I do but am trying not to think about it ). Mw appointment on Thurs so will ask her for reassurance that it isn't a baby elephant.

Yes to the feeling emotional - irrationally depressed and weepy yesterday, though feeling a bit brighter today. Will try and get out for a walk, which usually helps.

New thread good idea, but no idea about names.

Swizzler · 02/10/2006 12:38

Joalbob: no advice but much sympathy. Do you have a sweep/inducion booked?

luboo · 02/10/2006 13:07

Nothing exciting going on here! Cleaning out my oven... already done kitchen cupboards. Have a midwife appointment in an hour so suppose I had better get dressed.
Heartburn is reaching mammoth proportions now - how about anyone else?

have just come onto Mumsnet to seek solace and am reassured by all of you complaining about being completely over-emotional.
I'm emotionally exhausted. dd decided she didn't want to go to bed last night and repeatedly got out of it until gone 10:30pm (her bedtime is 8pm). She was wide awake at 7am this morning when dp left for Paris on business for a few days. This afternoon she has refused to have a nap and I have had a complete meltdown and CAN NOT stop crying. Needless to say dd is grumpy as hell from lack of sleep and I am having to remove myself from her presence because I just want to throw her over the balcony. Have installed her in her highchair next to me to do some crayoning and she's delighting in throwing wax crayons around the room and whinging.
If you've read all this you'll probably be thinking that she gets the whinging from her mum. I'm well aware that my problems are completely insignificant but I've just about had a gut full. I must be a crap mother, not even capable of looking after a 2 yr old - what the hell am I going to do when the little one comes along? I can't reach dp to have a good blub down the phone as he's in meetings for 3 days. It'll be a miracle if he even calls us tonight to find out how we're doing.
THis is so long, I'm embarrassed to post it but it's made me feel slightly better in typing it so thanks to anyone who's bothered reading it;

hang in there! AWFUL when dh is away - know just how you feel.

If she'll let you, give dd some paracetomol - just in case she's suffering with something more than just the terrible 2's, then use TV / music for dancing / long drive in the car or pushchair walk / ANYTHING that means she's not directly dealing with you.

Have been known to go for a long walk with the pushchair just so that I'm in public and less inclined to get REALLY narky with dd's!

nowanearlyNicemum · 02/10/2006 14:26

thanks for the support!!!
really can't face leaving the flat as I'm a red -, blotchy mesS. she's now attacking the keyboard... am off to find Bob the builder dvd.

plonked dd in front of 'Bob', made myself a cuppa when what I really want is a triple G&T, and am feeling much better.
dd has fallen asleep on sofa (yes, she really did need that nap) and I don't know whether I want to crucify her or cuddle her!! they're so adorable when they're asleep aren't they?

Milliee, I found a weeny baby is dead easy to 'drag' round museums, exhibitions and the like - it's the toddler stage that changes all that...

nowanearlymum- keep smiling through it. I do not have any other children and sometimes I wonder when you get pg second time how people cope. I mean not being able to go for a 3 hour sleep in the afternoon easily. Think of it as a bad day.
I know what you mean about not wanting to leave the house- I feel like everyone is looking at me as I'm huge.

40 weeks tomorrow-I was convinced that i'd be a mum by then-still a few hours left today yet.
Raspberry leaf tablets are making me feel sick I think.

The most exciting thing I've done today is go food shopping with parents. I mean it could've been so easy for me to give them a list but its just not the same.

Luboo-heartburn is just the worse, Gaviscon has even given up working on me I swallowed so much!

joalbob- I read that you need to eat something like 7 whole pineapples to have any kind of effect. I've tried every method going (except curry as I don't eat it)

Hope everyone is ok.

pmoore · 02/10/2006 15:28

...........and nowanearlymum- I drank my first brandy since I got PG yesterday-sometimes needs must and all. Not sure about triple tho!!

luboo · 02/10/2006 16:50

Nowanearlymum, you have my sympathies. Yesterday I cried and cried and I didn't even know why. I think we've all just had enough now haven't we? It must be so much worse for those with toddlers already; at least us child-free ones have the luxury of wallowing in our misery!

emzickle · 02/10/2006 17:00

hey, I cried at the MW's, as on Friday was told baby was 3/5 engaged, now she's "free" and not engaged at all, what did I do so wrong?

walking around tesco, every clever git kept saying "havent you had that yet?"

CLEARLY NO!

Plus, my house just is never organised, I have doen 3 loads of washing today, and Im exhausted, but DP makes me feel so dissapointed if I get nothing done, all I really want to be doing right now is sleeping. Any one else feeling like this is all just TOO MUCH?

youngmum21 · 02/10/2006 17:04

yep i agree with you emzickle ive had enough and it too much to cope wit my dp thinks cuz im at home the house shud be spotless but cleaning is the last thing on my mind i just want to sit in front of the tv and relax, im feeling so huge and i still got 4 weeks to go!!!!!

emzickle · 02/10/2006 17:09

any experinced ladies that have done this before offer me any explaination as to why the baby is no longer engaged?

Getting mild contractions and feeling very sick. MW told me to rest lots and count the contractions so mother came to look after DS all day. What bliss. Hope this little one will make an appearance soon as I am feeling so uncomfortable (aren't we all?!).

Going to start a new thread and combined two of the suggestions together:

Overweight, overdue, overtired, over-emotional - It's October!!! The final countdown...

Hope you can all find it!

emmajenks · 02/10/2006 17:32

emzickle

Baby probably a boy and cant make flippin mind up, in ? out ? etc. All 3 of my angels engaged then not, didn't cause problems though . don't worry about it. Good Luck

joalbob · 02/10/2006 18:20

eww a sweep is not nice like a cervical smear with lots more wiggling about the only light moment came when the midwife asked if i was comfortable what? with you doing a full spring clean up there?! then contractions started coming every 6 minutes -- this is it! er.. then they went..so another day of strangers doing a double-take or giggling at my enormity and more walking like i have a basketball between my legs..maybe i'll stay in?..thanks for your advice

Rumpel · 03/10/2006 04:18

Hi everyone - it is ridiculous am and I have been having contractions since 12.30am. Had very busy day yesterday, was on my feet all day and really needed a good sleep. Despite listening to my hypnotherapy MP3 for about a dozen time the contractions just kept getting stronger.
So I am now up, had some toast and sitting on my gym ball. Don't want to wake my DH up just yet as I am sure as I am a first timer it will take hours and hours to come to fruition. I am just going to try to occupy myself by reading Angels and Demons and sitting on the ball. Trying not to think too far ahead!
Hoping that everything goes well and I get the waterbirth I would like.

Next time I post I could well be a Mummy!!

arfishymeau · 03/10/2006 05:14

Hi Rumpel! Not part of your ante-natal gang but I saw your early-hours-of-the-morning post in Oz and thought I'd send you lots of best wishes for your labour. Good luck! A few of us Aussies are floating around at this time, so you're not on your own if you need some hand holding. Best of luck! Hope it all goes smoothly for you
