Afternoon
Also popping in to say Hi, booked a private scan for a week tomorrow when should be 9 weeks, hopefully if baby has grown etc I can stop worrying, who am I kidding! at least worry a bit less, worried tons less with my older 2 because had no internet then (eek that makes me sound old).
Hugs to everyone who needs one.. Gently to avoid hurty boobies

alita7 · 06/04/2014 13:35

anyone else found that at about 9 weeks their boobs stopped hurting, they hurt for a bit if Isqueezed too hard but not as much as before? Although now my nipples are so yellow and crusty I'm not worried.

Amyrose82 · 06/04/2014 14:03

Hi all! Just checking in on the shiny new thread, thanks Barmy!

Hugs to all who need them and fingers crossed we all get to the 12 week mark with positive scans and sticky beans Grin

Hello all! I seem to have reached the "headache" part of the proceedings.

I did see it listed as a symptom somewhere but paid no heed. But I've had splitting unrelenting headaches for the past three days and I presume it's hormonal as I haven't been that stressed (other than the normal anxiety) and its mot lack of sleep.

So whilst its painful, am trying to be Zen about it. I had to take 1 paracetamol at 11am yesterday, was forced to take another around 5, and I've just had to take another one now. They really are horrendously sharp headaches, so have to take something.

Any paracetamol experts on? Is 3 tablets in 24 26 hours ok in pregnancy? I may have to take another later, and may have to take them all next week, so need to know my levels.

PosyFossilsShoes · 06/04/2014 14:15

Alita I was worrying about whining too much (DP is the only person I can whine to!) and also that I am really not pulling my weight in terms of housework, pet care etc. I think it may be easier for another woman to empathise, but when I asked DP if she was struggling with me being so needy she said she thinks I get the harder end of the bargain growing the baby and if "all she needs to do" is extra housework and listening to whining then she has it easy. I hadn't thought of it like that but actually she's right.

MrsWombat · 06/04/2014 14:16

We're off on holiday tomorrow, and in my usual procrastination, I've not packed yet. I have however dusted off my hospital list from last time and uploaded it to Google drive (which didn't exists when DS was born) so now I can access the one list from work, home, phone, iPad etc to make updates. A very urgent thing Hmm now crossed off my list. Shame the procrastinating doesn't extend to cleaning. Grin

Nessalina · 06/04/2014 14:19

Anna, you're fine so long as you don't exceed 4 doses in 24hrs, and keep your doses at least 4hrs apart. Smile
If you're getting migraine-like headaches it's worth chatting to GP and seeing if you could get something codeine based - might hit the spot a little better, and it's ok during pregnancy.

HRMumness · 06/04/2014 14:30

I am really started to feel pregnant if that makes sense, like even pushing the pram leaves me out of breath, quite an obvious bump and my body desparately wants me to waddle. I didn't feel like this until about 5 months last time around.

Anyone else starting to feel a bit blimpish or have I just been eating too much haribo and crap

alita7 · 06/04/2014 15:06

Anna you can take paracetamol as normal it doesn't affect baby but ibuprofen does.

posy, this Is one time in my life when I wish I was with a woman or at least a more feminine man, he is a stereo typical man and doesn't get it at all.
I think even women who haven't been pregnant get it to an extent due to periods and pms. I too haven't been doing so much housework ans I have hidden away in bed a lot and I do moan a lot. But let's be honest the only people I can moan to us him and you guys really :p I feel I have the right to moan tbh! A good half of my moaning has been about him anyway!

Getyourflipflopson · 06/04/2014 15:17

Is everyone else super dooper tired? I'm struggling to stay awake past 8.30pm! The midwife hasn't called to arrange my booking in appointment yet, so I'm guessing that I'm 8 weeks today.

blamber · 06/04/2014 15:18

Yay, shiny new thread Smile

Had a crap day yesterday. Spotting got worse and turned into dark brown. I thought it was the beginning of the end and was really scared Sad. Luckily, today it has disappeared. I don't know what it was, but I was wondering if the transvaginal scan maybe aggravated things? Anyway, feeling more optimistic today.

Annarose2014 · 06/04/2014 15:19

HRMumness I definately get out of breath a lot. Climbing the stairs in work is getting to be a pain.

I don't really know if these headaches are migraines or not as I've never had migraines. They're very sharp, over the forehead, when I touch my forehead they're worse....but I can function and don't need to lie down in a darkened room or anything.

Mind you, the paracetamol doesn't really touch them much, if I'm honest. Turns it from OOOOOWWWWW!!! to ooooowwwww!! but thats about it.

I have Solpadeine which is paracetamol+codeine but am afraid to take it even though its fucking amazing. Might ask the midwife at my antenatal next week - I can last till then.

Greenstone · 06/04/2014 15:22

Just marking place, back later when I get a sec :)

amy83firsttimer · 06/04/2014 15:25

alita there's only me, DH and 2 male friends going to the festival and I'm planning on telling them a few days beforehand just so they can get their heads round it.they know we've been trying so it shouldn't be a total shock! Anyway I'm due to see them next Saturday too for a gig that I'd usually be getting rather rowdy at so they'll probably figure it our next week regardless. I guess I'm scared that I'll tell them, be sensible, then have scan and it not show a baby and I'll look silly and have missed out on rowdyness for no reason

Tigsy · 06/04/2014 15:28

So after a few days of the sickness seeming a bit better, hubby and I went for a pub lunch. I just had a jacket potato as struggling to eat big meals. After eating half of it, I was in the toilets throwing it up! Grim Blush

RandomInternetStranger · 06/04/2014 15:34

HRMumness Yes!!! Last time I was 11 weeks before I even had the slightest tiniest rounded tummy, this time at 6 weeks I had a little pot belly, at 10 weeks now I am definitely a full on proper pregnant bump blimp! At Christmas when I visited my parents I was taking their 2 big dogs on 2 mile walks twice a day and little 20 minute walks another 2 or 3 times a day no problem, last week I tried the 20 minute one and I was gasping and having to stop to catch my breath! I was huge last time by the end, I dread to think how big I'll be this time if I'm already this noticeable at 10 weeks!

Hopeful83 · 06/04/2014 15:38

Just checking in on the new thread. My scan is 24th April, so not long now. I'll be 12+5 I think.

Thinking of all the ladies who have had bad news.

Random - my back also looks like that. It's horrible and I'm off on holiday on Tuesday and have no idea what I'm going to wear. Fx that it clears up soon and does not last the whole pregnancy! I hope you're feeling better soon and less stressed.

I know I'm very lucky to be going away but am actually quite anxious about long haul flights, having no control over what I eat (I have mainly been living off of salt and vinegar squares and know that they won't have those on the all inclusive menu!). I know it sounds very spoilt as I'm so lucky but in many ways I'd rather be staying at home. We booked this before I was pregnant and I didn't know how I'd feel then. Hopefully I will relax when I get there.

Has anyone got any tips for how to hide a pregnancy when away from a hen weekend? There will be plentiful Prosecco and normally I'd be guzzling away. It's going to look so suspicious. My DH is insistent that I can't tell anyone, and also wouldn't want to on a hen weekend as I wouldn't want to 'steal her thunder'.

alita7 · 06/04/2014 15:48

hugs to anyone with problems!

well it turns out I've vomited twice today so it must be the next stage...

MrsWombat · 06/04/2014 15:52

Just had a phone call from the midwife (on a Sunday!) to tell me my blood results. Apparently I have a low platelet count. It's 91 and they like it to be over 100. It came with a note saying that it might be higher but they don't know as the cells clumped together or didn't - can't remember. Anyway, she is coming around to my house to take my bloods again first thing tomorrow morning before we go on holiday to see if the results are better. If they are not I will be referred to hospital. Asking doctor Google it's quite common in pregnancy and nothing too major to worry about.

Good job I've already packed! Hmm Grin

PosyFossilsShoes · 06/04/2014 15:52

Hopeful - no idea but if you find out let me know as I've got one in a few weeks too! Although at an event the other week I held a glass of wine all evening. Nobody noticed that it was the same glass all night and eventually I handed it to my best friend who happily drank it for me (she knows). It's also possible if someone clinks glasses with you to look as though you're taking a sip but not actually take any into your mouth!

PosyFossilsShoes · 06/04/2014 15:53

Oooh Alita hope you feel better soon.

caravela · 06/04/2014 16:29

Amy - nothing lost in phoning them. The worst case scenario is that they say it isn't possible, and then you're where you are now anyway. I had to phone to change the scan date because it clashed with me being away at a work conference. On the official letter they wrote all these warnings about how it's impossible to change the date except in a real emergency, but when I phoned they were super-helpful and there was no problem at all, and they pretty much asked when I wanted the scan and then told me what appointments were available that day (though I was asking for it to be a few days later rather than earlier, which might be easier).

I feel like my belly has suddenly ballooned in the last 2 days, and trousers that were fine last week are now digging in. Not that I look pg though - I just look fat, which is a bit depressing. But at least it hopefully shows the baby is growing...

annatha · 06/04/2014 16:54

Hi everyone, just wondering how far along you were when you got your scan date? I had my booking app. at exactly 8 weeks, and had my bloods done a week later at 9 weeks because the midwife couldn't find a vein. I'm 9+5 today and still haven't had any news on the scan. I'm assuming that having to wait for my blood tests has pushed it back a bit, but I'm panicking that I haven't heard anything. I never got a letter or paperwork through about my booking appointment, so I'm hoping this isn't going to be a regular thing!

9+5, eating nothing but fruit, ice lollies and baked potatoes x

alita7 · 06/04/2014 17:01

annatha are you certain you don't have to ring and book? I was so glad that's what I had to do as I could pick the day and I got in quite early so I had plenty of choice :)

I'm feeling bigger than before definitely but as I've had problems with bloating on ans off for a while its not looking hugely different to my old belly except I hadn't been bloated for a while before :p

chirpchirp · 06/04/2014 17:32

I feel so shit. Haven't kept any food down all weekend. DH is being a superstar and very sympathetic. Tried to pitch in with some house work and almost collapsed, he sent me back to bed. Dreading work tomorrow. Just going to tell my boss in the morning, as it's so obvious.

Got a congratulations text from a neighbour after DS went over to play with their little boy and let the cat out of the bag. This is the worst kept secret in history.
