Hi everyone,

A new thread for us chatty bunch due in November. Could someone repost the stats? I'm on my phone so can't do it. Thank you!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

zebra I'm so sorry to hear your update. Look after yourself.

So much for finding smaller vitamin tablets here, I found new ones on Saturday which I hoped I could cope with. Took them yesterday and today and both times I've vomited within half a hour of taking them so that's another brand in the bin! I think I'm just going to switch to the small folic acid and vit D option in boots and forget anything else. Do you have to take them the whole way through or can you stop at 12 weeks?

booksshoescats · 08/04/2014 12:15

Oh, Zebra, so sorry Sad

RandomInternetStranger · 08/04/2014 13:37

Miskate and Loaf careful working it out like that, it's not necessarily accurate. My due date working it out like that would be 23rd October but because I know my conception date I know it's actually 1st November. That old way of calculating it assumes women have a 28 day cycle and ovulate on day 14. I usually have a 32 day cycle and ovulate on day 17 but Jan/Feb I didn't ovulate till day 24. Go by the days you had sex and symptoms of ovulation, not the old fashioned 28/14 calculator.

Elliekins · 08/04/2014 14:16

So sorry to hear your terrible news Zebra, thinking of you. Thanks

I find the whole due date/conception thing odd too - I had only just come off the pill when we conceived so wasn't sure of cycle length but I thought I was a bit further along than the early scan suggested.
We had sex on Wed/Thurs/Fri as OPK told us to, had sharp (ovulation?) pains on the Saturday so assumed I conceived then but scan suggested didn't actually conceive until Monday.
Extra surprising as I had my first faint + line the following Monday, which was over a week before period due!
I went to the scan thinking I was 3/4 days more pregnant than I seem to be.
Odd!
Anyone else finding the sickness easing?
Mine is definitely improving and I find that very alarming indeed!

RandomInternetStranger · 08/04/2014 14:29

Elliekins that makes sense. If you got the pain then it could have been another 12-24 hours before the egg was released and another 12-24 before it made it to the tube and the sperm met it there. I got my BFP at 8 dpo so your timing sounds right to me. Smile

My sleeping and eating pattern is all off kilter, I need to get back in a routine. I'm sleeping early evening, waking up at midnight for more food, staying awake till silly o'clock then sleeping till later morning. Not good! Going to force myself to stay awake till a normal bedtime tonight and get back to sleeping through the night and up in the morning! I can't seem to go more than a couple of hours without food though and when I get hungry it's like agonising starving pain like I've not eaten for 3 days!!

My dad made me a big bulk of soups frozen into portions (30 of them!) and it's so handy, just whacking it in the microwave for 3 minutes and I have a nutritious, filling, home cooked, yummy meal loaded with veg. Smile I shall have to put in another order for when he comes to visit next week! Grin

Miskate · 08/04/2014 14:42

yeah, my message wasn't clear at all, I meant to say that my dates of 9w+3 are per my conceived date. My doctor wasn't having any of it which is why I'm going for my 12 week scan next week when I'm er, 10 weeks.

alita7 · 08/04/2014 15:19

miskate they'll probably just have to call you back for another scan for nuchal measurements then :p how silly!

Random I'm struggling with eating too, I get starving around bed time -.-

barmybunting · 08/04/2014 15:30

miskate it's annoying they won't take your word and have put your scan at 10 weeks but it means you'll hopefully get another one slightly later on the do the nt test if you want it Smile .

Miskate · 08/04/2014 15:37

Hope so!! I didn't even think of that? I'm quite the scan hog it appears!

RandomInternetStranger · 08/04/2014 15:55

My GP and MW tried to argue my dates based on my LMP but I think my pg hormones must make me scary because when I just said nope, it's these dates, you're wrong they both kind of went oh, er, ok and accepted it. Even at the scan the lady was all "well we'll see won't we, you may be wrong, I'll tell you your dates" and then was very "Erm, oh! You were right! Absolutely spot on!! Oh." when she actually did the measurements - Erm, yes, shocking really that I should know my body, my cycles, the only day in the last 3 months anything could have at all happened unless aliens or a deity was involved and that I could possibly be right and your little cardboard wheel may be wrong. I must be some kind of oracle. Hmm It does annoy me, can you tell?? Grin

alita7 · 08/04/2014 16:20

well random in your case you only had one possible conception date! so they were silly to argue! :p

barmybunting · 08/04/2014 16:27

The midwife has accepted my word for my dates as well which were backed up by my early scan measurements. My cycle was around 42 days normally so no way LMP would be accurate for me. Will be interested to see what 12 week scan brings up.

random I can just see them trying to argue your dates without thinking, daft bunch! Wink

TeaNCakes · 08/04/2014 18:37

Zebra, so sorry to hear your news

I am, mostly simultaneously, feeling incredibly hungry and profoundly nauseous, and (TMI, sorry) I really want to have a proper poo Sad

Barmy I had to stop pregnancy multivitamins and just take folic acid with vitamin D because the ones I had (massive horse-tablets) were making the sickness worse. I have the Boots ones now and at least they are tiny tablets!

Cake (totally gone off the tea now) Confused

WinterLover · 08/04/2014 18:40

Those who are struggling to take the tablets because of sickness have you tried taking them before bed. Even when im not pregnant I have to take them just before bed because they make me sicky in a morning

barmybunting · 08/04/2014 19:07

Thanks winter and teancake. I've chucked the multi vitamins in the bin after this morning and have got the small boots folic acid and vit D ones as well, that will have to do. It's better than nothing because I'm throwing it all up anyway with the other ones!

winter early evening and bedtime is when the morning sickness really kicks in for me, I tend to be much better in the morning so have avoided eating most evenings after 5ish as I immediately throw it up so I'm avoiding the tablets then. It's a good idea to try different times though as I know what you means, some parts of the day are much easier than others!

Ladies, does anyone know anything about risks from strep throat in the early stages of pregnancy? I have just spoken to a friend who I am meant to be going to stay with in a few days who has told me she has it and is on antibiotics.

Apart from not wanting to feel worse than I already do due to morning sickness, is there any risk to the baby if I catch it from her? Google is giving me conflicting answers.

I am tempted to just cancel on trip anyway but it feels a bit precious just because of that!

OP posts:
Tigsy · 08/04/2014 20:56

Barmy it can be contagious via coughing, sneezing etc. If she's bad enough to need antibiotics I'd probably avoid seeing her, but I'm just over-cautious!

Random and anyone else who has experience with dopplers..... Tonight I'm convinced I managed to find baby's heartbeat. Was the right speed and sound etc. Anyway, it then suddenly disappeared and after spending ages I couldn't get it back. Is that normal?!

EmiliaS · 08/04/2014 21:30

Barmy, I wouldn't go. We really need to look after ourselves right now and not take chances. We have already lost too many from the Nov thread :(

RandomInternetStranger · 08/04/2014 21:34

Tigsy totally normal! Think about it this way, in the expanse that is your abdomen (relatively speaking!!! Not calling you fat!!!) there is a tiny grape that is the baby with a heart the size of a strawberry seed. He has to be laying in the right position, facing the right direction for you to find him then if he floats round or kicks himself away you lose him. It gets easier as he gets bigger, I'm 10+3 now and find him pretty much every time now but he still swims off after a minute. In a few weeks it will be far easier. But totally normal to lose him or not find him at all this early. Smile

Barmy I'm pretty over cautious and avoid anyone with even a cold. Not so much because I think it's a risk to the baby but because if I get sick I don't want to take anything and can't take most stuff anyway and just have to put up with feeling like utter crap on top of being pg and that sucks. I was pg through the winter last time and caught all the winter bugs and it's horrible not being able to knock yourself out with a Lemsip and Covonia overdose.

Tigsy · 08/04/2014 21:38

Thanks Random Smile

This place is like a breath of fresh air. I joined a Facebook antenatal group as well as coming on here and it's very different- so much drama!!

Everyone seems a lot more chilled and normal here!

barmybunting · 08/04/2014 21:41

Thanks Random, Emilia and Tigsy. I wasn't sure if it was just me fussing a bit during first pregnancy! I'm glad it's not just me. Having just been sick for the second time today, I'm not sure I can face the travel anyway so I'll phone her tomorrow and have a chat about plans. I haven't told her I'm pregnant yet so will just do that tomorrow. I've had a cold for the last few weeks and the thought of feeling worse than I do already just makes me want to cry just now so I think it's probably best avoided!

BJZebra I'm so sorry. Thanks

alita7 · 08/04/2014 21:53

Hmph grumpy as I seem to have hay fever and we can't take anti histamines. I have a very red sore nose and have been sneezing or combating relentless watery dribbles all day hibernates

violetlights · 08/04/2014 21:55

Can I be added to the list too please? DC due 3rd Nov...

Reading some of these posts, I'm a little worried. I have my booking appointment at 13 weeks... I rang them and said this doesn't leave much time to book the '12 week' scan but they said it's fine.... doesn't sound fine. Hmm

RandomInternetStranger · 08/04/2014 21:56

Try local honey. I have a lady who lives round the corner who sells jars of honey every year and it does seem to help.

Don't want to get too excited here but it's 10pm and I'm still up! As in I've not already been asleep 3 hours and due to wake up in another hour or two wanting a second dinner. Woohoo! Grin I may actually sleep through the dark hours and wake for the light ones tonight!! Grin
