Hobb yes it's normal! Well I'm sure it must be because I feel the same. But I don't feel dog zombie tired all the time. I'll have a few days where I cry because I'm so tired, and a couple where I have some energy and feel almost fine. Hope you start to feel better soon x

sambababy · 29/03/2014 13:22

Hey cbeebies, just checked out your thread. In the last Maybies thread I mentioned a similar thing with me: one doc at 30wks measuring me 29, another at 32wks measuring me 27. I agree with other pp's on that thread that there must be a huge descrepency in these measurements, not only between HCPs but depending on the baby's position, your position etc. As long as you're feeling movements like before, everything is probably ok, but I know that only a scan can really reassure you. I know it must be much easier said than done, but try to relax because the stress isn't good for the baby. Were your previous mc's very late?

In my case I suddenly became famished about a week or so ago, couldn't stop eating and my tummy has got noticeably bigger this past week (33+6). Random growth spurts might well be how it happens for some!

isean I'm very glad they kept you in. I personally wouldn't have felt at ease being discharged with those symptoms. Here's hoping the sickness clears up!

Thanks xavielli great advice Smile

chattychattyboomba · 29/03/2014 14:13

Hey cbeebies, I haven't had experience with slow growth but I do think fundal measurements are one of the most inaccurate ways of telling the size of a baby. As Pp's said there are so many factors to take into account such as babies position and your own body size and shape.
With my first DD I always measured a week or 2 behind right up until my last appointment which wasn't enough concern for a growth scan apparently. She was born at 40+4 weighing 10.5lbs (!!!)
Try not to get anxious about it. There are also discrepancies when it comes to scans too. My friend just had twins born at 37 weeks. The boy was predicted to be around 6lbs by the scan (he was 8lbs!!!) and the girl was measuring around 4lbs (she was 5lbs).

MrsFooCough · 29/03/2014 14:55

Oh cbeebies don't freak out too much, the ultrasound lady said that even though they say they can date the pregnancy by the ultrasound scan, they're given a 2 week over/under-estimation leeway! So first measurement may have been a week too long at 29, the second may have been 2 weeks too short at 27! So don't fret. Also our BestMan and his gf had a "small" baby, picked up as little on the 20wk scan so regular growth scans until birth, and she was born at 6lb10 and has been doing amazingly well, feeding and pooing and growing like a trooper! Haha

MrsFooCough · 29/03/2014 14:57

Oh and fundal measurements are almost as accurate as the Victorian idea of "the criminal face" whereby it was considered that there was a "face" that typified someone as a criminal or inclined to criminality... The only way they can know baby's size is to whip it out and measure it, which isn't feasible haha!

Making the most of having some energy to do some batch cooking and freezing! Making macaroni cheese ready for in case baby comes early and for when OH is at work!

dobedobedo · 29/03/2014 18:08

I'm gonna be batch cooking stuff when I go on mat leave moomin. That seems to be what everyone does here! Grin

Right. Have ordered the last bits we needed for the baby. Including a little comforter rabbit from the mamas and papas website with "Jesse" embroidered on it. I know that isn't necessary, but I couldn't resist!

The only thing left to buy is a sling. Has anyone got any recommendations? I'd prefer one I can breastfeed with while on the move if necessary.

chattychattyboomba · 29/03/2014 18:43

Moomin go you!
Dobe- slings- with DD1 we got the bjorn- never have I been so uncomfortable in my life! We quickly discovered the ergo... Although not fwd facing, this has shown to be not good for baby's spine/hips anyway. The ergo is so comfortable and I can still use it for DD (almost 3!) but we bought the newborn insert as well.

moomin35 · 29/03/2014 18:46

Can I join you guys? I'm 31 weeks today! Still a long way to go for me.

randdom · 29/03/2014 18:52

moomin35 you can join me at the back! I was 31 weeks yesterday!

LongTailedTit · 29/03/2014 19:10

dobe I'm with chatty on the slings - we started out with a BabyBjorn and it was awful, moved on to an Ergo and LOVE it. The weight is distributed around your waist/hips and supported by your shoulders, rather than with the. BabyBjorns where it's all on your shoulders and neck muscles. I only stopped carrying DS in it when it got uncomfortable with bump (he was 2.5 then).
Another similar to Ergo is the Manduca, but there's a whole sling topic on MN, it's really good. (Lots of tips there, and warnings about fakes - loads of fake Ergos on eBay, I found a great blog that had photos of legit and fake details to compare.)

BabyBjorn's are meant to be the worst type of slings as their legs dangle in them, hanging by the crotch, which is bad for hip development. Carriers like the Ergo have the baby sitting in a more sitting-frog-like position with the legs up, so their weight is in their bottom.

This time round I'm borrowing my SIL's Moby Wrap for the early weeks/months, it's a jersey thing you tie around. Apparently it's easy to feed in, so I'll have to learn the knack for that.
Then we'll move on to the Ergo for trips out, I've got the newborn insert too. I always found the Ergo comfier to use on my front, whereas DH far prefers using it on his back. There's a side carry too, but I've never wanted to try it.

I also have a BabaSling which is good for short trips and feeding in, and a HippyChick HipSeat which was FAB in the crawling-walking stage when they want to be up and down like a yoyo.

35 weeks today! :)

hobbjobb · 29/03/2014 19:22

I've bought a stretchy wrap sling from Victoria Slinglady to start with. We have a sling library in my area where you can go and try all different ones and then hire one that suits you, check to see if there's one in your area as it will save you money and good way to meet other mums!

impatientlywaiting · 29/03/2014 21:19

Hi all,

Just checking in to the new thread - thanks Clearly.

Hope everyone is doing well. Isean i'm really glad that you've got things sorted with the consultant that you trust and that you're in the best place. Not long for thread baby number 2 i'm sure.

Welcome Chatty and Moomin35 think we have 3 Moomins on this thread now - May is a busy month for Moomin usernames. Welcome to any other newbies who've I've forgotten too.

Dobe I echo what Hobb said about the sling library. I'm going to arrange to go when the baby arrives, so that I can test out which one my baby seems to get along with the best, and then try it at home before I buy it. I think we'll go for one of the stretchier jersey type materials though, as long as baby approves.

Finished my NCT class today. I really liked the group and think we will stay in touch. Its strange though as I had loads of things booked up, our hypnobirthing class, a course of pregnancy yoga and then the NCT, but now it's all finished and it's feeling like it's going to go so fast until the baby arrives. Celebrating another milestone down with my first cup of raspberry leaf tea.

Have a great weekend everyone.

SarahJinx · 29/03/2014 21:21

Evening ladies, hope everyone got some sunshine today?

I went with DP and DS to a vintage vehicle type show. What is efffing wrong with me? I can't walk around the bloody house without feeling like my poor pubic bone is being razored in half so why in gods name I thought I'd enjoy walking around a bloody show ground is totally beyond me. Stupid arse.

I am paying for it. I have frozen peas in my knickers. Stupid stupid stupid! I'm also cooking fricking lunch tomorrow for ma, pa and sisters, I am brainless already.

So pleased for you Isean that you we're properly advised and listened too, that note of panic has gone out of your posts. Take it easy and keep cooking that bean!

cbeebies i read your thread and wanted to send you a hug. Irrational fear and anxiety is paralysing and horrible, def insist on scans/listening in etc if it puts your mind at rest, feeling like a pain in the arse is much better than being so horribly worried, thinking of you, please talk to us whenever you need.

Choppa · 29/03/2014 21:24

Can totally sympathise with the feelings of guilt towards other children. I went ape today at DS for walking mud through the house. Like proper mental...felt awful after. Will try to be nicer tomorrow...it's Mother's Day after all.

In other news....today I was kicked into peeing in my knickers....never thought that would ever happen to me. Confused

Clocks go forward tonight...means DS won't be up until 7am...yay :)

Jellymum1 · 29/03/2014 21:27

sarahjinx what are you cooking for dinner tomorrow? I hope its not peas!

SarahJinx · 29/03/2014 21:35

Ha Choppa what fun, the pants peeling that it!! I still suspect my constant 'watery discharge' is plain old leaky pee! Super glam aren't we?!

jelly roast pork, no frozen peas (mushy peas!) Grin but I feel like I've peeled and chopped a billion veggies tonight. I did speed peeling before my pelvis gave in and crumbled to dust! Idiot.

And, meant to be 20 degrees here tomorrow! Fingers crossed for a straightforward lazy lunch and the afternoon lounging about the garden!

moas · 29/03/2014 21:43

cbeebies try to not worry and give google a miss! Judging from your growth scan everything is fine! Hold on to that thought. My DS was very small, picked up at 25weeks and regular scans confirmed he was below the 5th centile. He was induced early because of it at 37+5 weighing only 2000g (about 4,5 pounds). Now at 2,5 years he's not that much smaller than the other kids at his nursery. There's so much focus on measurements and I know it's for the best but still... All that worry it creates! There is absolutely nothing you can do about it at the moment, you be strong!

Jellymum1 · 29/03/2014 21:48

I feel your pain sarahjinx...literally. I constantly feel like ive been whacked with a cricket bat in my crotch. I did some gardening today as all I want is to feel normal and useful but im bloody crippled now!

SarahJinx · 29/03/2014 21:53

It's hideous isn't it. Kicked in the fanjo by a horse in my analogy, m feel that a hoof is the exact right shape!

I'm dreading giving birth!!

Xavielli · 29/03/2014 22:18

Well, after not very much sleep and feeling really rather poorly all day I was thrown a surprise baby shower this evening complete with a cake (a huge deal for me, considering Im usually the one that makes them so never receive one!) food, pin the dummy on the baby, baby bingo, guess who from baby pictures and many other games :) they bought all the 0-3 clothes baby will need and a good 3 weeks worth of nappies and wipes. Also chocs and toiletries for me and some money for a massage/treat after baby is here. I feel completely spoilt! I've been to so many of these things and never really understood the need for them but it's really helped me start looking forward to this baby and realise that I'm not as alone as I've been feeling recently. It was well worth waiting 5 babies for a shower like that

impatientlywaiting · 29/03/2014 22:31

Ah Xavielli your friends/family sound lovely and the shower sounds fab.

Having a small baby shower in a fortnight. Just a few friends and family, I'm doing the food alongside my mum and sister, but might need to assign a few silly games for my friends to sort.
