WELCOME! Thanks This thread is for all Mums-to-be expecting Maybies babies in (and around) May 2014! Please come and join the fun.

Put your feet up, get yourself a (decaf?) cuppa Brew and settle in to hear the aches and pains, trials and tribulations, shopping excitement and hospital bag woes of those in their third trimester.

Hopefully you'll find a listening ear and a wealth of knowledge. Everyone welcome, especially if you're new to MN and are just peeking in as you start your maternity leave.

I have diabetes check today. Not looking
Gold!!

SarahJinx · 28/03/2014 07:31

Morning ladies

isean sounds like its pretty rough, you are definitely in the right place, and seems you'll likely be the Maybies baby number two deliverer! Really hope you're ok, baby is a good weight and term is 37 weeks, you aren't far off lovely. Thinking of you all the time, keep expecting to come on and read an announcement!

GTT #2 was fine thank god, shouts again to those of you making those massive changes to deal with it. On the plus side though, l do know plenty of people who lost weight with it through much better diet pre birth and looked bloody fab after birth! Every coud and all that...?

It's a sunny Norfolk Friday today, we're meeting friends for coffee first thing then off Mother's Day shopping. Hope everyone has a good day x

impatientlywaiting · 28/03/2014 07:38

Wow Isean sounds like its a really tough time for you. We are only 1 day from Saturday now, so have everything crossed mini Isean stays put til then.

Glad it sounds like you're being well monitored and definitely in the best place. Hope you are okay and thinking of you and mini-you lots.

pickletalk14 · 28/03/2014 07:44

Fingers crossed you had a good night isean!

V. jealous of all those on their last few work days... being a late maybie I've stIll got 6 weeks to go. But it's Friday and I can work from home. Hurrah!

MrsFooCough · 28/03/2014 07:55

isean keep you legs crossed! Haha but seriously do not worry about a thing, remember alyss and her little gem Gabriel? He's doing well and he was a full 9wks littler than MiniSean - so your little one is going to be fine xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Lots of love and very un-MumsNet-y hugs, I'm definitely a hugger xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

wm3010 · 28/03/2014 08:03

isean thinking of you but you are right it's probably best to be in the hospital being looked after rather than worrying yourself sick at home. Your little one will be fine if they come now - 30 weeker I mentioned the other day is doing great.

Hope everyone else is well, I am sooo looking forward to the weekend - 3 more weeks at work to go, though only one full week then a 4 day and a 3 day to ease me in! So jealous of those already finishing/finished Smile

Chip86 · 28/03/2014 09:02

bushprincess · 28/03/2014 09:20

Hope all well at scan chip!

its getting exciting/scary on here now...it really looks like we're all getting close! eeek!

Hoping bushbaby sits tight for a while longer - what passport would he get if he's born in the air on a KLM flight I wonder?!! Wink

also hoping moomin is ok - not like her to be quiet for more than a day....Hmm

Irisheyessmiling · 28/03/2014 10:21

Just popping in, hoping everyone's ok. Off to mum and dad's tonight for weekend of driving practice for dh and shopping for last bits of hospital bag for me. Will offer solace for failure to get Kate Bush tickets this morning. Gutted doesn't cover it! And just got back from midwife and baby's breech the little bigger so time to step up the birth ball in earnest!

So sorry people are having rubbish times of it, can't name check you all but massive squeezes to each of you!

MrsFooCough · 28/03/2014 10:22

Everyone, quick question - I'm 30+6 and bump has been crazy low for a week or so now. Ultrasound lady on Wednesday had to dig around under my pubic bone to get a look at Bean's head Confused OWW!
In the experience of any second/third/fourth/fifth/sixth-timers here, does this mean anything significant? As in does it signal that Bean may come early naturally? Or maybe that Bean is just tall and big and running out of space in any other position?

Worried that we may meet Bean when we're off in Walsall for the christening Shock

MasterFlea · 28/03/2014 10:50

mrsFoo, I'm no expert so can be totally wrong here, but I think everything is just worn in by the second baby. I thought there was something wrong with me during DD2. My fanjo was being pushed down so much. It felt all wrong. Same this time but I'm not worrying. Now I feel kicks down below my pelvic bone or pokes, I'm not sure, the cervix is ripe, was 2cm open at 28 weeks and the hospital says nothing to worry about; all normal for 2nd + timers.

But I still worry it will come early and have everything ready. Last baby came out at 39+1. First one 39+4. Not much of a difference.

MrsFooCough · 28/03/2014 11:02

Forgot to say I'm a 1st timer so no experience of this stuff before! Sorry masterflea I probably didn't give enough info there. I guess I'm just panicking cos Bean is big already (4lb4oz estimated) and it seems impossible to go to term or almost-term with the rate of expected growth! I'll pop! Haha

LongTailedTit · 28/03/2014 11:11

MrsFoo - in my highly unscientific opinion, some women just carry low! My DSis and cousin were pg with their first at the same time (same due date even!) and they couldn't have carried more differently. DSis carried v high, like a football up a jumper, and DCousin carried v low, like a big teardrop/pear with the bump right down by her hips. They took some comedy pics stood next to each other, it was so noticeable.

The baby being low isn't the same as the head being engaged, so if you feel it's engaged you'll really be waddling and like the head's really in the way!
Hope that makes sense? I so need more sleep but have to go watch DS's preschool Easter concert - I have to hide at the back so he doesn't see me, last time he spotted me and caused havoc!

PotatoPolly · 28/03/2014 11:24

I've just tried to catch up and read through everything!

isean thinking of you

moom thinking of you too

sorry i can't name check everyone but thinking of you all, all the time!

MrsFoo i feel like bump is very low too, i feel like a weeble most of the time!

Sorry I'm a bit sporadic at posting, 8 working days left and trying to complete my qualification before i finish- I'll be back posting properly soon!

Feeling like i've not seen any healthcare professionals for ages- in a 3 week break between my 31 and 34 week appts- this normal?

(32+5)

dobedobedo · 28/03/2014 11:37

mrsfoo In your first pregnancy the baby will often engage earlier and stay put, where as in second and subsequent pregnancies baby can engage and pop out again and engage again, and do a back flip... etc. I wouldn't worry too much. With my first, he engaged really early and I constantly worried about him just falling out as I walked down the street! LOL. Also they told me I was on track to have a 10lber at term, and I went a week over and he was only 8lbs 7oz. It's not an exact science!

Work is bloody manic today! I'm knackered, I have loads of running around to do and I won't get home until 10:30pm tonight as I am going to see ds in a play. I hope I don't snore during it too loud! Smile

MrsFooCough · 28/03/2014 12:52

Oh thank you dobe! That's the most encouraging thing I've heard, the obstetrician was basically trying to turn me round and get me out the door ASAP I think. She said the abdominal circumference and amniotic fluid depth didn't concern her, despite the technician at the ultrasound telling me they were the high end of normal Hmm, then I was straight out the door again. No real mention of her involvement except that she didn't want to see me for another 4wks...felt v hurried.

I have ridic pressure on/around my bladder constantly, and it does feel like Bean could fall out if I get up too suddenly or sneeze Shock I know he/she won't just fall out, but it's SO HEAVY IN THERE

Spirael · 28/03/2014 13:07

Very normal if you're midwife lead and considered to be low risk, PotatoPolly. Appointments are even less frequent second time around. I've only seen my MW for short 15 minute (or less) appointments at 8 weeks, 16 weeks and 28 weeks so far.

I don't see her again until 34 weeks now and I might get one more appointment after that before DD2 makes an appearance. Feel a little abandoned, but also grateful that I luckily don't seem to have any issues requiring more frequent care!

I seem to carry low, I think it just depends on your shape - inside and outside! Bit disconcerting this time around is that DD2 still seems to frequently spin round between breech and head down. DD1 was settled head down (though somewhat oblique) by now. Guess DD2 has more space to work with! Oh well, there's still time (and clearly space) for her to get herself properly positioned. 31 weeks today!

Rigbyroo · 28/03/2014 13:08

Isean, glad you are being looked after.
I changed my appointment for an easy life but raging about it! I've just ordered my snuzpod, crazily excited and now just packing baby boys hospital bag!

ClearlyMoo · 28/03/2014 13:26

MrsFC I've been reading quite a bit about "engaged head" this week. MW appt I was 2/5 head palpable ie 3/5 head is burrowing down/engaged already. Seems this is
a) a good sign
b) the reason both my trapped nerve and pelvis issues have improved (yay!)
c) reason why I'm weeing like crazy and d) no indication that baby will arrive early just part of the thing!

MasterFlea · 28/03/2014 13:51

The estimated weights I have been given have always been over what I actually gave birth to. Even the estimate on the day of labour. You'd think they would be somewhere in the ballpark then.

PIL arrived and have now taken the two dcs out and left me to rest. I luffs them! They are staying until Sunday. Yipee!

My feet feel like they could pop out of my skin. Anyone get sore toes alongside bloatedness?

Choppa · 28/03/2014 14:02

Hey everyone...just checking in as haven't posted for ages (although always try to keep up with the thread)

Went for growth scan last week and baby is perfect size wise but is sitting breech. Another scan planned for 2 weeks time when I will be 36 weeks. Seems like my homebirth could be out the window...just hoping the little chops turns on his own. Really really want to avoid CS if I can...gah. So different to DS1 who was head down rigt through and a text book natural homebirth.

Thinking of those in hospital or having treatment. Not long for us now.

Have a great weekend everyone. I'm off to find some chocolate after the talk of Maltesters

xx

Choppa · 28/03/2014 14:03

Oh and only 12 working days left for me!

YYYYYyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

Squiffie · 28/03/2014 14:35

Have you looked at the website spinning babies Choppa? It's got some techniques for encouraging baby to go head down.

Squiffie · 28/03/2014 14:40

Although there are some reasons not to try listed on there too like high blood pressure for example - worth a read if nothing else. X

dobedobedo · 28/03/2014 15:03

OHMYGOD TODAY IS DRAGGING AND I'VE BARELY STOPPED TO PEE ALL DAY!
