WELCOME! Thanks This thread is for all Mums-to-be expecting Maybies babies in (and around) May 2014! Please come and join the fun.

Put your feet up, get yourself a (decaf?) cuppa Brew and settle in to hear the aches and pains, trials and tribulations, shopping excitement and hospital bag woes of those in their third trimester.

Hopefully you'll find a listening ear and a wealth of knowledge. Everyone welcome, especially if you're new to MN and are just peeking in as you start your maternity leave.

If you'd like to know how big your baby is this week the check out The Bump

If you'd like to mark your place perhaps you could tell us who you are and how long you've got to go!

Happy chatting Maybies!

Well I think we're going to need a new thread before our next baby comes ;-) .... Provided Isean is behaving WinkWinkWink

Bornin1984 · 27/03/2014 13:54

Isean!!!! You have a word with your baby and tell them to behave!!!!

Glad the hospital are looking after you!!xxx

Squiffie · 27/03/2014 14:08

Pleased you're being looked after iSean. Good luck and fingers crossed for you. X x

dobedobedo · 27/03/2014 14:17

isean OHMYGOSH! Your baby will be the next thread baby! You must be very nervous and excited. How far along are you now?

Fingers crossed baby stays put as long as possible though. But I'm sure at this stage, we're not likely to have many issues if baby comes a bit early. SQUEEEEE!

SarahJinx · 27/03/2014 14:23

Ooh Isean!! God I know it must be a nerve wracking time, and that you arent feeling great but echoing that 'Squeeeeeeee!' from Dobedo . Truly hope you're ok and bearing up well, that you can try to relax and cook that baby for as long as poss an that you know we're all rooting for you. Shout at any time if you need us!

sambababy · 27/03/2014 15:30

Glad to hear they're looking after you isean. Sounds like your LO just can't wait much longer to meet you! Smile

My mum had pre-eclampsia so my sis was born at 32wks. This was 30+ yrs ago and after a stay in ICU she was fine. I'm sure medicine has come along way since then, so even if your baby comes soon, the chances are everything will be fine. Look at amazing Gabriel!

loopylou52 · 27/03/2014 15:41

Glad you're being looked after well isean. Take care and keep us posted. Thanks I'm sure it's all really scary but, as others have said, the odds are very much in favour of baby being absolutely fine even if they do have do deliver it soon. Thinking of you lots.

MrsFooCough · 27/03/2014 16:15

isean my mum was born at 36wks after grandma had Asian flu and haemorrhaged everywhere because of coughing, waaaay back in 1957, and she was just put in an incubator for a week or so. MiniSean will be fine my love, don't be worried!! The most important thing is the steroids so they're bang on giving them to you so swiftly.

I was about to echo loopy with the Big Event at 36wks (we're godparents to BestMan and gf's daughter) and that's in Walsall, a 4hr journey away. I'm due an induction at the earliest at 38wks, unless my sugars get worse. I'm on metformin now twice a day, first dose last night and sugars today have been really high - is this normal?!

Squiffie · 27/03/2014 16:27

MrsFoo I think metformin takes a while to work in the first instance, I'm not 100% certain but sure I read it somewhere. I'm sure one of the other GD ladies will confirm or deny. X

bushprincess · 27/03/2014 16:44

So glad you're feeling looked after there Sean and echoing the others, hope you manage to give little one as long in there as posts, but everything is on your side now if they do need to intervene earlier. Thinking of you and hope tonight u get some rest while the tightenings have let up. Thanks

ClearlyMoo · 27/03/2014 16:53

Oooh Isean! Hang on in there! One of my NCT friends had her baby today under similar circumstances - OC & suspected PE she was induced at 38+2, baby arrived within 12hrs!!

As for new thread ladies I'm VERY EXCITED about the new thread... if it's ok for me to start the next one again I'm already amusing myself with titles...

rubs hands together in glee I think "drop zone" will feature!

Watch this space... Not quite time yet, but soon. Soon!

Bornin1984 · 27/03/2014 17:17

Go on moo'!! Enlighten us;-)

kally195 · 27/03/2014 17:36

Isean thinking of you!

OH just had to haul me out of the bath. Think it might be showers from now on.

I also got very frustrated earlier when I realised that there was no physical way I could angle myself to be able to reach the back of the inside of the oven when cleaning it. Grrr.

In more positive news, we finally finished decorating the downstairs lounge today! We get the first bit of furniture tomorrow. I may bore you all with before and after pictures at some point.....

moobaloo · 27/03/2014 19:47

How exciting Isean! Try and see it as exciting instead of nerve wracking anyway, you're in very good hands Smile all the very best to you!

MasterFlea · 27/03/2014 20:06

Thinking of you Isean. Hope they are looking after you well.

LTT I won't go anywhere more than 1 hour away now and I'm only 33 weeks! The last visit to the PIL, (they are 2.5 hours drive away), I had braxton hicks the whole drive back. My body was not pleased about the seat and position. Very painful.

Plus, I worry that if I got caught so far away and had to deliver in a different hospital, then I would have to travel home with a new baby in tow. So many practical reasons not to travel, none of them over reactions, imo.

We have visitors staying with us nearly every weekend of April. I am beginning to think even that is too much. I keep waking every night worrying that I am going into labour. So stupid but I can't stop worrying.

Oh, and the afterpains, I vaguely remember them and they were like period pains. I honestly can't remember if they only lasted a few days or was it longer. It only happened at the start of feeds for me. Those first few weeks are all a blur.

dobedobedo · 27/03/2014 20:42

No news from isean?

Just home from a long day at work and ferrying ds to theatre rehearsals and his school disco. Shattered! Especially since I've been awake since before 2am. As soon as we get through the door he says he has to make a hat for an easter bonnet parade in the morning! Angry

After brain storming the least time and effort we need to spend to get the best hat, we've decided on him wearing his swimming cap with "easter egg head" written on it in marker pen, and his cuddly toy chicken stuck to the top as if laying said egghead. He thinks it's hilarious, I think it's amazing for requiring zero work. I bet I'd never be considered for PTA!

I'm sleep writing this now so better go. Hope everyone is doing well. X

LongTailedTit · 27/03/2014 21:46

Isean how many weeks are you now?
As I may have mentioned a few times Blush DS was a bit early at 36wks, so if you have any Qs I might be able to help with just PM me!

Thanks for all the advice re visit to DMs, we've decided we're def not going. Now I just have to tell DM and listen to her over-the-phone eye rolling! She'll think I'm being pathetic. Ho-hum.

sambababy · 27/03/2014 22:19

dobe that hat sounds fab Grin

Operation collect all my wee and put it in the fridge starts tomorrow. Oh joy. I have warned DH so he doesn't suddenly think I've started buying apple juice or something Wink

Bornin1984 · 27/03/2014 22:22

Moomin quiet today too! Hope she's
Ok

hobbjobb · 27/03/2014 23:45

Sending positive thoughts out to those that need them, the drama is building as we all get closer!

I had an appointment with the consultant anaesthetist today (due to high BMI) which was brilliant, I've pretty much decided on an epidural as early as possible. She was lovely and very tactful.

And I've actually lost weight since my booking in appt, I've lost just over 2kg, so factoring in the additional baby and water weight that adds up to a fair bit.
I Was a bit worried but she seemed happy and told me it was brilliant, as long as I'm eating and baby is measuring fine then they don't worry.
I guess all the morning sickness on 1st trimester and now the strict gestational diabetes diet has shed some of my blubber!

Isean · 27/03/2014 23:52

Sorry for taking so long to update!

LTT & MrsFoo I'm 35+2 today (Thurs).

So I'm still in hospital, it's been a funny day of ups and downs. My BP was borderline this afternoon which was a good sign, I felt ok apart from a headache & spots in front of my eyes. Had a growth scan which was positive, baby's measurements are within 4 or so days of my dates, fluid is ok & estimated baby weight currently is 5lb 7oz.

Then after dinner I went downhill, the tightenings started again, I was sick a few times, had a bad headache, my temperature was high, but I was shivery, my BP was raised again & I generally felt rubbish. I was checked by the midwife, then a junior doctor, then a registrar. I got an injection for the sickness in my ass & had blood taken. The blood came back with ok levels and there isn't much they can do except monitor me.
At the moment there is no "plan", it's take it day by day, but in the first instance it's trying to get to Saturday without having to do anything to give the steroids a chance to work. It looks like I may be kept in for the weekend, but even that is uncertain.
TBH, I think I'd rather be here where I am being so closely monitored with midwives and doctors who want to know as soon as I feel anything different, than at home unsure & worried.

Thanks for your support everyone ?? I really appreciate it. Hugs.

bushprincess · 28/03/2014 06:40

Gosh isean you are going through the wringer, but so glad you're in there being closely monitored. Rooting for you getting through till sat for the steroids to have done their thing - then every day after that will be a bonus... lots of Thanks and thoughts winging your way. Keep us updated whenever you feel up to it....

Hope everyone else has a stress-free friday. Brew and Cake to you all!

ClearlyMoo · 28/03/2014 07:01

Good morning!

Just on my way to swimming pool checking the thread and eating a walnut whip before physio later. In theory day of leave today BUT three working days left and loads of work to do, so I'm going to have to log on at some point!

Isean that sounds really hard. Hope you start to feel better today. Thinking of you and others having a hard time.

Where is Moomin? Hope she's ok!
