WELCOME! Thanks This thread is for all Mums-to-be expecting Maybies babies in (and around) May 2014! Please come and join the fun.

Put your feet up, get yourself a (decaf?) cuppa Brew and settle in to hear the aches and pains, trials and tribulations, shopping excitement and hospital bag woes of those in their third trimester.

Hopefully you'll find a listening ear and a wealth of knowledge. Everyone welcome, especially if you're new to MN and are just peeking in as you start your maternity leave.

If you'd like to know how big your baby is this week the check out The Bump

If you'd like to mark your place perhaps you could tell us who you are and how long you've got to go!

Happy chatting Maybies!

Aw Moomin! I'm sorry you're feeling shitty, but honestly I doubt they're disgusted! Thanks to ye olde Facebooke we all know you're a very attractive woman, so ner!
And Grin at rolling you in glitter, honestly, glitter makes makes happy. :)

Re your headshots, if you're doing makeup, practise it at home and get DP to take photos - don't judge it in the mirror. You will be able to see what needs doing better from pics than a reflection.
I know it sounds daft, but pencilling/eye shadowing in your eyebrows can really strengthen your face in photos - give it a go. If it looks daft in person just wipe it all off as soon as the pics are done!

moobaloo · 26/03/2014 17:21

Ahh hugs Moomin it's not petty and you won't feel this way forever! It's not limited to age, but I do feel very weird being pregnant and the things that come with it (massive belly, bending down weirdly, hair not deciding if it's shiny or dull etc) when other 21 years olds are flirting about in full slap with skimpy outfits on their skinny bodies... Grr haha

The thing that helps me is I'm really looking forward to losing the baby weight and getting out and about in the summer sun with my gorgeous baby and doing lots of walking etc which I wouldn't have time for if I hadn't been pregnant because I'd be at work all summer!

Those girls aren't looking at you funny because you're pregnant - they want your malt erasers! Grin

moobaloo · 26/03/2014 17:22

Malt erasers????

Stoopid autocorrect. Malteasers!

dobedobedo · 26/03/2014 17:45

If I saw someone eating malteasers right now I'd be giving them evils because I want some malteasers damn it! moom sorry you feel so shit, but LTT gives good advice for the pics! I'm sure you'll look lovely in them.

Work is starting to make me very tired this week. My boss is off so I'm running the office, and doing both our jobs so I'm knackered now. Just want to go home and crawl into bed.

On a good note, our car seat base and cot mattress arrived, so now it's just a sling and some bedding we need!

CbeebiesIsAboutToPop · 26/03/2014 17:55

Oh moomin, I know that feeling. I was 21 when I had my first, despite baby being planned and very much wanted what it did to my body horrified me. It contributed partly to my AND and left me lacking in confidence for a long time after. In fairness, I was only just getting used to my 'new' body after dd2 when I fell pregnant again. You probably don't look as bad as you feel, there is so much thy no one tells you about pregnancy, it all just sucks Sad

As for head shots I feel for you, I've been putting off having photos taken for a couple of features on my blog, and I stopped taking bump pictures a few weeks ago as I just can't face the camera anymore. I don't doubt you look beautiful, even if you just don't feel it right now xx

mamapants · 26/03/2014 18:02

When do you finish dobe?
I am also knackered this week and really regretting not stoPping work earlier.
I was up all night with heartburn and reflux and DShad a disturbed night and wouldn't settle for DP only wanted mum.

My experience of afterpains was cramps during breastfeeding and no other times and think lasted less than a week but did take paracetemol for the cramps and pain in stitches. Did the trick.

loopylou52 · 26/03/2014 18:10

I agree they're after your malteasers moomin! Perfectly normal to feel that way. I felt really self-consious this morning after my CEO thought it necessary that I don't need my TFL 'baby on board' badge because it's stating the obvious. Thanks for that!

Got my card and pressies from.work today (don't finish till Friday but lots of people not in then) and one of my best friends had her baby last night, so it's all feeling very real all of a sudden!

LongTailedTit · 26/03/2014 19:29

A Moomin-inspired hug for everyone feeling a bit rotten today :)
(I was given this mug by my two best work mates when preg with DS1, I luffs it)

Back at the hospital ??
Community midwife came to see me this morning & my BP was still high. Had headache & occasional spots in front of my eyes, back pain & generally felt unwell. She told me to take paracetamol & if I didn't improve or got worse to call day case.
I was ok until half 3pm when the headache started getting worse & I was sick. Phoned day case & they wanted to see me.
Baby is ok & moving about thankfully. BP still high & was sick a couple of times. Had blood taken & now waiting for results & to see a doctor.
Feeling tired & emotional & a few tears have been shed. I feel like I am rubbish at being pregnant.

35+1

bushprincess · 26/03/2014 19:49

Oh Sean i hope you're ok and they can give u some good reassurance and hopefully some answers about what is happening.

Hugs for u, moomin and anyone else feeling low Xxx

Ps. I must be hormonal as just cried at the circle of life song from the lion king!! (Had to watch it as dh told me other day that he'd never seen it, sacrilege!)
Night night and sweet dreams to all

dobedobedo · 26/03/2014 20:01

mama next week is my last week. So 7 working days to go. Thank Christ! I can't wait to have time to do all the things I want to do in the house. Like some painting and sorting, cleaning, organising and chucking stuff out. I've been dying to do this stuff for ages but have been too knackered after working 50 hours a week and being on call most weekends. I plan to spend maternity leave sleeping half the day, and organising our lives the other half!

In bed now and will probably be sleeping soon. Baby is having a right wriggle in between some pretty sore braxton hicks. They won't stop me sleeping though! I'm wrecked!

isean I hope you're okay. Keep us updated x Thanks Thanks

Night everyone! Smile

Bornin1984 · 26/03/2014 20:08

My dh volunteered my services to bake for a bake sale! And I'm inbetween painting my living room!!!

I feeling rather sick tonight so in bed
Feeling sorry for myself!Hmm

sambababy · 26/03/2014 20:46

I was really hoping that besides a sore downstairs, the pain would be finished after labour. Confused

mrsmummy not sure how I missed the news about the mortgage, congratulations! Hope the rest of the house buying process goes smoothly and quickly.

isean please keep us posted if you can. You're not rubbish at being pregnant, none of what's happening is your fault!

Who mentioned malteasers? Yum!! I have no chocolate in the house Sad

Spirael · 26/03/2014 20:59

You're on your first, aren't you samba? After pains are usually for subsequent children, AFAIK. I didn't have any with DD1, but I'm anticipating getting some this time with DD2.

The pain did stop after labour, for me at least. I mostly felt tired, achy and a bit shivery, like after doing a lot of exercise, but it wasn't too bad. I was more than capable of showering and getting myself dry and dressed afterwards, for example.

SarahJinx · 26/03/2014 21:20

Evening ladies, seems like today is a bad day for Maybies? Hugs and Brew and Thanks all round.

Bornin, 95 centile is just a size guide, it gives an 'out of 100 babies' guide, so 95th means within 'normal' range, but only 5 babies out of 100 would be bigger. There should be a chart in your notes. I hope that's what you were asking?

Moomin it's totes normal to feel like that, I say enjoy your maltesers and shoot some evils back, but I'm childish like that. Weirdly, I love how look when preggers, wouldn't dream of wearing some of the clingy tops and frocks I'm living in when not up duffel, probably due to being overweight, I just feel fabulous and like I'm doing something amazing so happily flaunting. Afterwards, not so much!! You'll probably ping right back, I won't!

I didn't have afterpains either, msomething delightful to look forward to this time!

No news yet on yesterday's repeat GTT, hoping no news is good news. Ladies With GD, you're doing amazingly well, must be such hard work!

Hope all is ok Isean xx

pickletalk14 · 26/03/2014 21:30

Can remember who mentioned floaters in their vision? But reminded me my optician said that visual disturbance often happened in the late stages (so I didn't need to think my new specs were broken!)

Obviously doesn't mean that you shouldn't get checked out but something to look out for.

31 +6 eeek!

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 26/03/2014 22:01

Hope you're ok Isean, keep us updated if you can!

I thought I was going to have to go back to hospital again, really intense pains in my scar making it hard to breathe. Waiting for the cocofamol to knock me out now, not looking forwards to the hangover tomorrow!

Thanks for the reassurance everyone. Think the problem is that I'm usually very much a tomboy so im a bit clueless wrt make up! :(

Isean · 26/03/2014 22:01

Thanks for your nice thoughts ladies ??

I'm being kept in tonight. The doctor wanted me admitted for observation due to all the various symptoms & that my BP is consistently high. So lots of blood pressure checks overnight & I'm being seen at the day case unit in the morning anyway.

Xavielli · 26/03/2014 22:16

Aw, Isean, you poor thing :( hopefully they can control your bp and baby can gang on inside for a couple more weeks xx

After pains; I didn't get any til after DC3 and they were just mild cramps with him. With DC4 I had to piggyback paracetamol and ibuprofen every 3 hours for 3 days to bear them. I'd forgotten about them tbh now it's one more thing to dread. Been having BH all evening, very unusual for me, I've only had 3-4 max. Going to have a bath then kneel on the floor for a but and hope the changing positions stop them!

loopylou52 · 26/03/2014 22:46

So sorry isean, keep your chin up if you can. Thinking of you Thanks

NannyPlumForPM · 26/03/2014 23:11

Oh isean hope you're coping ok in hosp! I know it's miserable :(

Isean · 27/03/2014 01:00

The midwife checked me a wee while ago & before I said anything about the pains I was getting low down, she said "oh I think you're having contractions", so she hooked me up to the CTG again so she could see a trace. Baby is fine & going bananas& sure enough there are regular tightenings of the cervix.
The doctor came to see me to discuss the fact it could be pre-term labour & if it is I'd need to get steroid injections for the baby's lungs & also to go on a drip to temporarily stop contractions so the steroids would have 12 hours to work! Shock
They gave me paracetamol for the pain & I've to see how things go. They said it may be Braxton hicks, but may be contractions. If I feel any changes I've to let them know immediately or if I have a show or anything like that. Especially as baby is breech.
I'm hoping it's Braxton hicks & they'll settle down! Baby & I are not ready for this yet!

dobedobedo · 27/03/2014 02:05

Gosh isean! Hope things have settled down for you now! It must be a worry! Sounds like staying in hospital was the right thing to do. Keep us updated!

I've just woken up to pee, as usual, and can't relax and get back to sleep until baby moves. Why do I do this to myself?! I should be happy he sleeps at night already Wink

Sorry to the other maybies I haven't name checked. The phone app really should let you scroll up because my memory is crap. Hope you're all okay though x

ClearlyMoo · 27/03/2014 02:37

::waves::

Hugs to those needing them. Isean - erm wow! At least they have a plan! Thinking of you.

Moomin they want your malteasers!

Penultimate day in office today. Was moving around really well. Went for a massage and now everything hurts. Honestly I think I'm my own worst enemy! I then had aqua yoga which was very calm and good.

Killer heartburn today which considering baby has dropped is annoying!

I'm so tired and yet awake!

Ummmm can't name check everyone but just read 24hrs worth of posts in one go!

Gosh isean, how are things going now? Any more signs of labour? FX for you staying in one piece for a couple more weeks yet!

bush the circle of life makes me cry even when I'm not pg Wink

Thanks for the tip on nursing bras blanket those look good! I must admit I found it hard to cope without the support of underwires, so have got an underwired nursing bra this time and am going to convert a couple of underwired bras into nursing bras to use after a couple of months.

How did your 'wee collection' go sam?

Yay for finishing work next week dobe Grin Grin Grin

Well my naughty baby has turned posterior this week, better bloody turn back before it decides to hatch! Seems to kick so much harder now it's kicking outwards! My DD was so calm when she was inside me (not anymore though!), this one is a tyrant. must be a boy Wink
