WELCOME! Thanks This thread is for all Mums-to-be expecting Maybies babies in (and around) May 2014! Please come and join the fun.

Put your feet up, get yourself a (decaf?) cuppa Brew and settle in to hear the aches and pains, trials and tribulations, shopping excitement and hospital bag woes of those in their third trimester.

Hopefully you'll find a listening ear and a wealth of knowledge. Everyone welcome, especially if you're new to MN and are just peeking in as you start your maternity leave.

If you'd like to know how big your baby is this week the check out The Bump

If you'd like to mark your place perhaps you could tell us who you are and how long you've got to go!

Happy chatting Maybies!

Hi all, I'm still here reading but struggling to keep up with you chatty lot!!

SarBear1980 · 10/03/2014 12:17

Hi there...

You all seem so friendly so I thought I would get around to joining in...

I am 33...due 9th May with our first - a baby boy! We had failed IVF and then a total shock pregnancy - especially after the last talk we had with the consultant had been about donor eggs!! So been a bit stunned throughout and now just finally realising it's going to happen!! All been great up until now...sorry to everyone who has been suffering...and been moved from consultant care to midwife led now so very happy!!

I am a teacher - so aiming to get to end of term and then start maternity leave...helped by 2 weeks jury service!! So I only have 14 actual days in school!!

Look forward to hearing more from everyone!

Minions · 10/03/2014 12:24

Hello sar and welcome. What great news for you! We got pregnant naturally our last month before starting ovulation treatment, took ages for the BFP to sink in!

mrsmummy those wee pots (scuse the pun) are impossible. I use either a water bottle I've but the top off or a plastic cup. Much wider target! It can then go in the bin afterwards.

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 10/03/2014 12:24

Ooh I didn't introduce myself,

I'm 26 and due a blue suprise baby on the 10th may. I'm hoping for early induction though and will speak to consultant on Wednesday.

This will be baby number 3 and I am so not prepared! I've spent lots of time in the delivery suite already due to many health problems and really hopin the next time I go in will be to give birth, unfortunately I have a sneeking suspicion I'll be back before then.

Dd's are 3 and 2 and thrilled to be having a baby brother. Dh is 31 and we live in the south west

Minions · 10/03/2014 12:25

*cut the top off...

SarahJinx · 10/03/2014 12:26

tomkat you're Narch...?

I'm west, deepest darkest fenland!

Love Norfolk!

Tomkat79 · 10/03/2014 13:35

Ha..will it be yours or mine born with webbed feet then jinx

Actually, will probably be my DD as her brother has an 'unusual' toe Wink

MrsFooCough · 10/03/2014 14:10

Is it even possible to be moved from consultant-led to midwife-led? I'm consultant-led because of my BMI being 40+, I don't know if that can change as I suppose even if there's no issues during preg with pre-eclampsia or high BP or Gestational Diabetes etc then the birth itself could present issues...
I dunno if I'd even want to be midwife-led?! It doesn't bother me having to be on my back during labour and I'm plumping for a nice early epidural so I can be pushed and pulled and rummaged around in and all that without being in pain/discomfort (^also DH is hopeless when I'm in pain/distressed, I get so annoyed with him Blush so tbh the epidural is for his peace of mind and my sanity!!)

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 10/03/2014 14:32

If your consultant feels there are no issues they will discharge you back to midwife led care. It happened during my 1st pregnancy, however becasue of complications that happened during labour for my second and this one I wont be discharged. They do try and discharge you if at all possible.

HTH

SarBear1980 · 10/03/2014 14:35

I was really only seeing the consultant as if you have had IVF and the various array of procedures I had had you get refered for them check out in my area, as it ticks the high risk boxes at booking. It was mainly due to risk in early pregnancy...and now my cervix has proved happy and everything is normal for me the consultant and midwife did a review of the risk assessment and it came back low now! I say this now...but I am planning a natural, active, water birth in the midwife led Uni...eeekkk ask me closer and I might just be shouting for all the drugs I can get!!

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 10/03/2014 14:36

You can still give birth in the hospital and have an epidural without being consultant led. Where you give birth is your decision!
If you want an epi then stay at the hospital and go for it (I had one with both previous births, but am choosing not to this time! [nervous])

being discahrged just gives you the freedom to make more choices in labour.

Isean · 10/03/2014 15:36

When I was at the day case unit this morning for my twice weekly bloods and monitoring (for the OC) there was a lady in for monitoring as she is due in 3 weeks and only found out 2 weeks ago!!! ShockShockShock It isn't her first and she said she genuinely didn't feel any different to normal, just thought she was putting on weight! She didn't feel any movements or anything! Hmm How is this possible?! I can't get my head around it! Confused

ClearlyMoo · 10/03/2014 16:03

Isean I was talking about that today... I know I'm a bit of a whinger but the nausea/heartburn/tiredness/aches and pains/kicks and swelling belly I mean HOW? Was she (erm) chunky?

MasterFlea · 10/03/2014 16:03

Hello all.

I'm an ex-pat living in Finland. Have two dc (4&2) and I am 36.

Currently 30 weeks and have the GD test tomorrow. PGP is my constant companion.

Still a few bits to get ready but almost there. I'm having major wobbles though as the doctor said my cervix is ripe and already 2cm dilated so I keep panicking that the baby will come early. But seemingly it is normal enough and no reason to believe I will go early. I wish my brain would stop imaging otherwise.

Bloody hell Isean! Maybe she has abs of steel? Was it her first? But hey, better that reason for weight gain than something more sinister.

Good luck tomorrow Foo. Hope we both get good results.

Isean · 10/03/2014 16:11

She was a bit more on the chunky side. She was there with her husband and son. Her son looked about 7 years old and her husband said he has autism and very clingy to his mum and is very demanding. I wondered if she was in denial about the whole thing as her husband told the midwife (I wasn't meaning to eavesdrop, but she was in the bed next to me!) he had been on at her for a few months to see a doctor as he suspected something, she was saying things like "it'll just be a UTI". The husband did not stop talking and was answering all the midwife's questions while barely giving his wife a moment to answer! The midwife had to start asking the lady questions directly using her name! She said genuinely it didn't cross her mind that she could be pregnant and has only started feeling movements in the last week and she thinks thats because she now knows she's pregnant!

I was fascinated!

dobedobedo · 10/03/2014 16:34

Wow that is weird. I must say though, it must be nice to bypass all the anxiety of being pregnant!

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 10/03/2014 16:54

Another one here who doesn't understand how you can NOT know, and I wasn't expecting it at all! I was 7 weeks when I found out because the nausea and sickness had started... then again, I was just doing the test so I could tell the doctors 'no, I'm not pregnant' when they asked, I thought I had a UTI. I'm guessing I would've probably guessed at around 10 weeks even without doing a test, because I had all-day, every day sickness for about 5 weeks!

wm3010 · 10/03/2014 17:21

I had a colleague who didn't find out until 30 weeks with her first. She was on the pill and had some medical condition which meant doctors didn't think she could get pregnant. She was a larger lady, not so much fat as big and tall, and she said she hardly had any bump right to the end. Because of her other health issues most of the symptoms were put down to that, and it wasn't until she had an ultrasound for suspected cyst/possible tumour that she found there was a baby in there! She is due her second any day now and was signed off for 5 weeks with sickness so no chance of not knowing with that one!

Bornin1984 · 10/03/2014 17:39

I found out at 5 weeks as had severe abdo pain and was in hospital, they thought he was ectopic!!!! Can't believe that was August and here we are 31 plus 5!!!'

The end is nigh!!!!!!!GrinGrinGrinGrin

mumof2aimingfor3 · 10/03/2014 17:41

Sorry I've been a bit lazy for posting.

clearly fab job on the new thread, thank you :)

Ok...so I'm 29, OH is also 29 but almost a month younger than me, which he loves reminding me. We are engaged and getting married in August 2015.

We have dd1 aged 9, and dd2 aged 3.5, finally expecting a baby boy.

No pregnancy issues at present, except for the usual heartburn that I have had with all three, so don't really count that.

Everything is ready for babies arrival as both of mine came early before so need to be prepared.

Luckily both previous births were complications free and 7 hours and 5 hours (from waters breaking, which luckily happened on the loo both times!) Hoping that this labour will be just as easy.

His name will be Mateo Antony surname.

This will be my last though sadly as I had issues with a prolapse which petrified my OH, sterilisation for me and the snip for him, no stone left unturned!

mumof2aimingfor3 · 10/03/2014 17:42

Forgot to say 29+2 due 24th May, day before my birthday :)

pickletalk14 · 10/03/2014 17:47

Little pickle (first baby) is due 23rd May and team yellow. I am another one with an allergy to pale pink!

Currently 29 plus 3. Nothing packed but most things bought/ begged/ borrowed. Last thing to buy is.a chest of drawers to put it all in!

Got my fitness to fly letter from the GP this morning as I'm off to France next week :-) Not sure a group ski trip counts as a babymoon but will be our last break before LO gets here!

mamapants · 10/03/2014 18:03

Can I join you all please? I am on the due in April group as based on lmp my due date was 14th of april but scan dated me as due on 1st of may, so 32+4. Getting worried I'll be abandoned on the due on April thread as everyone gets their babies.
I'm expecting DC2, team yellow. Have a 19mth old DS.
Am almost there with hospital bag now but need to dig out DS' old stuff and wash and organise. We've also been renovating a house, moved in now but still got bits and pieces to sort out before baby arrives.

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 10/03/2014 18:03

Slightly confused... I've had a call today from my hospital, saying they've had a request for an appointment in the Acute Medical Unit, and they want me in tomorrow at half 2. My first thought was neurology, but the website for the hospital they've referred me to (different to the hospital I'm at) says "You'll receive your appointment date in a letter"... surely it wouldn't be a last-minute job?

Was wondering whether it's something to do with my iron levels, but they said I had another couple of weeks to get my iron levels up before they did anything else about it.

Confused and slightly nervous Hmm

SarahJinx · 10/03/2014 18:06

A strange toe is a given around these here parts tomkat!

Freak out Monday for me. 32 weeks, scan today, part to check growth and partmto cheek low placenta. At 20 week scan it was anterior and covering my cervix.

Soooo, it's moved and is now 4cm above (rats!!) but, I'm dating at 34+2 Shock.

The baby already weighs over five pounds, gulp and has a whacking great head, all measurements are within normal limits but at the very top. DS1 was 9,2 and remains on 91st and 99th centile so it isn't crazy, just a shock to actually 'know' iyswim?

Worse, baby is back to back. The sonographer was ace, picked up on my anxiety and explained that the shape of your pelvis sometimes dictates back to back (DS was b2b and a loooong v painful labour which ended up with episiotomy and forceps) I'm so scared of going into panic mode when labour starts, was kind of hoping the low placenta would take matters out of my hands but alas, not to be.

I haven consultant in a couple of weeks and will discuss it all then, I have a bit of latent trauma about the first birth clearly...

In super cute news though, baby has loads of hair, we could see it clearly, and was sucking its thumb the whole time! All looks perfectly normal and healthy and that is clearly the most important thing.

Shopped up a pearly white storm at mothercare afterwards, just for treats

32 weeks (bang on) today!
