Hi Bex, totally normal that they send sample off to check properly whats in it and to ensure correct antibiotics. Take tomorrow off maybe even two days. Drink loads including cranberry juice.

Stay off caffine and eat well, you should feel better in a day or two xx

oh and rest!

whiteblossom · 03/02/2014 17:24

Has anyone tried Hypnobirthing? Looking at katherine Graves, any thoughts?

weebairn · 03/02/2014 17:28

Tiredness was so bad today. I mostly lay on the sofa while my baby destroyed my house. Normally we do loads of stuff. I feel so guilty. Thank god not back at work till next week - when I am rota-ed for 52 hours… (it's a part time job!!!) I have no idea how I am going to survive that.

whiteblossom I listened to this hypnotherapy cd a lot last time. It made me very relaxed leading up to labour and I got a lovely nap listening to it every day. I listened to it in early labour too and my boyfriend tried to talk me through some of it in full blown labour.

It did not stop it being incredibly painful.

It might have stopped me panicking - not sure.

I had a lengthy but straightforward home birth, for what it's worth.

Kt1991 · 03/02/2014 17:40

whiteblossom my mum does hypno birthing so I will be giving it a go :) As my labour got quite stressful last time, I am hoping this will help relax me more, as I also get panic attacks too.

Missingcaffeine · 03/02/2014 17:56

Hi all!

Can I join?! I'm 6+2, our first baby too and very excited and scared too. Haven't told family yet. I'm very close with my siblings and parents and they are just going to be so excited, I want to tell them face to face and think I might leave it a bit longer.

I saw my GP today, who said I need to choose my hospital already. I wasn't ready for that, and not sure how to choose as I don't know anyone who has experience of any of my local options (I'm in the middle of 3 hospitals).

I'm 33, boyfriend is 27, been together 5 years. Sort of trying since September.

Nausea started about a week ago, but thankfully no vomiting. Definitely have an increased sense of smell and gone off chocolate. Threw my dinner in the bin the other day convinced that it was 'off'. Was a bit awkward, as was sat with my work colleagues who I haven't told and they all thought I was mad! Craving yoghurt, custard and salty things. Feeling thirsty all the time. Peeing lots. Today was the first day of total exhaustion. Luckily today was a day off (I work shifts). Don't know how I would have coped with a busy 12 and half hour shift! Let's see how tomorrow goes....

BexBoo12 · 03/02/2014 18:16

Welcome missing, and congratulations!!

Thanks whiteblossom, must admit I freaked out even more when he said he would send it off to the lab - no idea why I freaked out lol. Hopefully these antibiotics will see it off - not sure about tomorrow yet, will decide later I think.

Re hypnobirthing, I like the idea of it, not sure if it'd work for me, will still look into it though. Anything to calm me down come D Day!!

whiteblossom · 03/02/2014 18:20

kt I don't suppose your mum lives up north? Grin which one do you recommend then? Any tips you can pass on?

welcome to the newbies, there's loads of us piling in Smile

whiteblossom · 03/02/2014 18:22

I just want something to ease my nerves, I panic and the stress hormone floods by blood and I start to shake. I want to avoid that this time as I want to be able to kneel/go on all fours in case of back to back delivery again. Plus gravity helps. so im willing to give it a go.

BexBoo12 · 03/02/2014 18:25

Whiteblossom will this be dc2 for you?

Newlywed2013 · 03/02/2014 18:27

Hi ladies, sorry I've been a bit rubbish! Still suffering from hg and sleeping most of the time!
I had a scan today to check if there was an underlying issue to the hg but there isn't! Only one baby in there with a strong heartbeat and my dates are spot on! Feels so real now! I meet with the midwife on Thursday now! My aim is to try stay out of hosp! Not a fan of being on drips!

whiteblossom · 03/02/2014 18:58

bex, yes this will be by second.

Newly you poor thing, you really are being put through it. Glad all is well, put your feet up and relax Smile hopefully we will all in improve in 3 weeks or so -sob-

Monstersaurus · 03/02/2014 19:39

Hi all,

Can I join? I'm 7 weeks with our second DC, EDD is currently 22 Sept. Last time I read a book called 'birth skills' which had some useful visualisation techniques for labour. Not quite hypnobirthing but got me through a back-to-back labour. I'm hoping that this one behaves and settles in a better position!

I'm another in the 'nausea but no vomiting' camp, have gone off tea (which is totally out of character) and some food tastes funny. Booking appointment was last week, just waiting for our scan now.

topmammy · 03/02/2014 20:19

Poor you Bex re. water infection. My mum keeps asking me 'are your water works ok?' I'm like... uhm..yes Confused . so UTIs must be pretty common in pregnancy. Hope I don't get one though as getting an on the day appt at my docs is about as likely as pigs flying or this cold shitty weather leaving the British Isles

Really annoyed with my midwife/docs actually as the midwife told me I need to make an appt with my gp for a flu jab, so I rang last Monday. But the person who does them was on holiday so was told to ring back today, which I did only to be told that the midwifery team are responsible for doing the flu jabs for pregnant women. So I told them I have been told the opposite and that I was unimpressed that I've waited a week to be told this when I could've caught the flu in that time! Argh being passed from pillar to post, why should I be caught in the middle of their carp communication. Anyway my rant is over, thankyou for letting me vent and well done if you got to the end :) Have some Cake

Lottiedoubtie · 03/02/2014 21:02

Hi, can I join I tried before, then lost the thread and am not on list
Smile

EDD 9th Sept so 9 weeks tomorrow. Had my booking appt. today and got referred to GP as MS extreme.

Been signed off for next 2 weeks and prescribed anti emetics - which I think I'm too scared to take Sad

Fairypants · 03/02/2014 22:31

Wow, quite a few newbies, hello!

Charlie- I have no idea about timings for that hospital but usually mw's will try to be flexible where poss so I'm sure it will work out.
Top- my mw said its the end of the flue season now so not to bother with the jab (which I'm glad about as the one time I had the jab I felt awful).
In other news, dd2 felt the need to adjust my wii person today - adding a bit of tummy!! No tact even at 11.

rockin20s · 04/02/2014 09:25

feeling better today, got about 6 hours sleep which is becoming a record! Shock

but im developing a cough, DH has a cough too but it seems to be developing into flu, hope i don't get that!!!

Hubbythecatandme · 04/02/2014 10:55

Hi everyone!
Sorry I haven't been much on. More sickness here (smelling everything and anything all the time and puking at the Coop - yup it's been fun!). Sickness seems gone now but on Sunday night I wiped a tiny little bit of dark brown blood discharge, went hysterical... and now sent to EPU for an internal scan for reassurance says midwife. I had lots of cramps yesterday (totally panicked and cried buckets of tears all day, convinced I was having a M/C) but I have been wearing panty liners and definitely no more blood since Sunday night. Today cramps seem gone so I am starting to feel a bit more positive again. Soooo stressful and worrying when something like that happens :(
Hope all is well with you all xx

Hubbythecatandme · 04/02/2014 11:08

Re: no symptoms hippyjess yup same here. I went from being sick as a dog spending a whole weekend in bed with window open and making hubby sleep in spare room because his shower gel + natural BO was making me violently sick (I am sure he didn't smell at all lol, thank you preggers woman's nose!), really bad constipation, to no food aversion, slightly deflated boobs and my energy back :s I am trying not to freak out and to remember it's done this before and symptoms come and go... First trimester = a worrying time argh!!!

LH1981 · 04/02/2014 12:16

Hi Ladies!
Had my dating scan this morning. Went really well and we saw baby's heart beat!! I'm 7+2 and due on 21st Sept.

Feeling so so ill. Got a few kids coming round for a play date after school so must get up and get tidying!

rockin20s · 04/02/2014 13:07

lh thats great!! im only a few days ahead of you, 7w5ds today. i have my midwife booking in appointment tomorrow, really looking forward to it yet. have you gotton a 12 week scan appointment yet?

Hubby you poor thing! get well soon

waybuloony · 04/02/2014 13:16

Hi all,
Sorry I've dropped off the radar too recently. MS has really cranked up, just opening the fridge door makes me retch...nice!
I think I've possibly had a stomach bug too as Sun afternoon the vomiting started and continued all through Sun night, was pukey most of the day yesterday and only started to feel more 'with it' today.
DH is off on a week long business trip so somehow I've been doing school runs, preparing kids meals and plonking them in front of CBeebies in between hurling. At one point yesterday I wanted to call my mum to say please come and look after me!!
In both my other pregnancies I didn't suffer with MS so this is completely new territory and now I understand why some women can't stand pregnancy!
Still, scan on Valentines day so not long to wait now.
Newly - how are things? I feel so sorry for you!
X

Hubbythecatandme · 04/02/2014 13:51

thank you rockin20s cramping completely gone today so I feel a bit more relaxed, I was convinced I was about to M/C yesterday :s
waybulloony yup opening the fridge = disgusting here too. Elderly father in law had an accident on the way to toilets yesterday. Hubby cleaned it up while I gagged and retched all the way to the kitchen whilst half peeing myself at the same time. I am a dream come true at the minute. Think I should have to be washed with a pressure hose at the end of each day!
I too thought I had bug two weeks ago, I was in bed all weekend, unable to do anything, had to keep my head still and open all windows whilst groaning.... that's the day I was sick in a bakery bag at the co-op, do embrassing :s told my mum it was a bug maybe but made my mum laugh and she said "erm no.. that's MS for you!"

waybuloony · 04/02/2014 13:59

How very considerate of you to use a bakery bag Hubby Grin

Newlywed2013 · 04/02/2014 14:01

I feel for all you ladies suffering with sickness! I don't think I will be able to have another child after this! I can't even look after myself at the mo let alone anyone else! Called in sick again today but starting to feel a bit better today!
Had to go public yesterday as someone posted on my fb about me being in hospital and someone else who knew mentioned morning sickness but don't mind too much as had a scan yesterday so not too bad! Rather ppl hear it from me and hubby!
I let hubby do the reveal as he has been feeling useless not being able to do much with me being ill!

waybuloony · 04/02/2014 14:06

Glad you're feeling better today Newly. Just to have one day's relief helps massively doesn't it. I've been living on apple juice for the last two days but have finally found the appetite for a jacket potato so must be feeling better!
