Also, just following on from earlier discussion about labour...

Mine was about 5 hours all in from contractions starting and waters breaking. I had meconium in my waters so had to go down the medical route rather than midwife led (had originally planned to go to the birth centre) but I felt so much happier being monitored. Was able to move around fairly easily, but in the end things happened so fast that there wasn't time for an epidural! DD's heartbeat kept slowing so they wanted to fit a probe and were preparing me to have an emergency c section when all of a sudden they realised I was 10cm dilated! So little but faster than I expected, yes it hurt but it was a good sort of pain if that makes sense, every spasm brought DD closer to me.

I'm going down medical route again this time. Just want to be sure I have doctors on standby if I need them!

sebsmummy1 · 20/01/2014 17:11

Pregnantberry I think the timelines you are talking about sound fine. I think the only reason it seems as though lots of people are getting scanned early on this thread is because a) this thread is HUGE and b) lots of women on here have had problems previously and the scans are precautionary.

I wouldn't go clogging up EPAU if I were you, leave that to the women who are bleeding and scared. Just try and enjoy the early stages of pregnancy and be grateful that so far you are problem free xx

Fairypants · 20/01/2014 17:12

Hi all, I'm struggling to keep up after a weekend off MN focussing on the family.
Hi newbiesSmile
Kicks, I hope you get to see a nice HB for all you waiting.
On the subject of birth, both of mine were fine, no drama and didn't want anything more than g & a and tens. 2nd was a home and offered home for first. I'm hoping for a home waterbirth this time.
We have only told our dd's as it was really difficult telling people after I lost the last one. Also, my md has basically sidelined me after having a mc so god knows what he'd do if he knew I'm expecting again.
Those of you who've had early scans, was it with the dildo cam? I had those when I had my mc but remember having a dating scan with dd1 at 6 weeks (16years ago) that was a normal abdominal one- I may need to prepare DH for a bit of a sight!!

marie1w · 20/01/2014 17:20

Oh my God I feel so sick all day every day! Do not want 2 eat although I feel better 4 5 mins when I do. Am driving DH mad as I never know what I want. Got first appt with mw 2Moro so will have 2 ask her about it. Really struggling at work, think my class think I have gone mad as they are getting so much busy book time. Will probably have 2 speak to my head teacher this week and ask for less playground duty so I have a chance to sit for 5 mins. 8 weeks Thursday and all I can think is oh no at least 4 more weeks of this...!
...and breath (thanks for reading) x

broodylicious · 20/01/2014 17:34

I. Cannot. Stop. Eating. This is going to be an issue if it continues for the next 35 weeks!

Cindy5389 · 20/01/2014 17:42

Pregnantberry. My first appt with mw is 11th feb making me neary 9weeks. I think it's pretty normal. When I rang the doctors they didn't suggest seeing the doctor beforehand.. I am taking mum to be tablets from the supermarket. They have all vitamins and folic acid in them and it says to take up to ur 12 weeks.

CumbrianExile · 20/01/2014 17:49

Hi All
Checking in on this thread too, thanks rockin Thanks
My boobs are huge, and increadibly sore! But, funnily, feel better when I am wearing my underwired bra! Does this make me odd!?

broodylicious · 20/01/2014 18:16

Re bras - mothercare were not good for me and measured me all wrong so I wouldn't recommend them. Good old m&s worked well though and I will go to them again soon. I read that if you're intending to breastfeed, it's advisable to stay away from underwired as it could affect supply or tissue or something (I'm sure your mw will advise). First time around, my boobs were very sore anyway so I swapped to non wired pretty early on just for that reason, even though I wanted to breastfeed (and still do now!) God only knows what dd will be like if she's going to be sharing boobs with new baby. Daren't even think!

Metalhead · 20/01/2014 18:28

Well I was wearing underwired bras for as long as I could last time and had no problems with milk supply, so not sure that's true, certainly not this early on. I only swapped to (horrible) non-wired ones once my bump got too big.

LH1981 · 20/01/2014 18:34

I agree with the other ladies pregnantberry the only reason I went early was because I skipped a period (so didn't know if I was 8 weeks or 4 weeks pregnant). Turns out I was only 4.

fairy how old are you dds? My boys are starting to look at my tummy a lot and ask questions but not sure I should tell them til 12 weeks? Plus thinking they'll tell their friends and teachers too which would be awkward if things went wrong.

littlemissy1234 · 20/01/2014 18:45

Just popping in to say healthy nine months to everyone. After a really faint test last night (don't know why I tested) started to bleed heavily today. Scan tomorrow but I have no hope at all. Hopefully be back soon but this is my second miscarriage in a row so getting worried now.

Jemma2907 · 20/01/2014 18:48

Pregnantberry, I have my MW appointment next Monday when I should be just under 9 weeks.
I haven't had any bloods or anything taken yet. Is that normal? I went to the docs and all they did was sort my MAT Exemptipms cert out. Seems a bit weird considering they haven't even checked I'm pregnant at that point! I have a second scan booked in for this Thursday (I had a private scan at 5w 5d). Getting totally worked up that after the first one which went well that now I'm going to be hit with bad news.
My boobs are soooo painful when I'm trying to sleep. Don't seem to be a problem during the day but as soon as I take my bra of it feels like someone has punched them and tweaked my nips all day!!!

Jemma2907 · 20/01/2014 18:57

So sorry Littlemissy, I didn't see your post before posting mine. Hope you have lots of support in RL. Big hugs x

sebsmummy1 · 20/01/2014 18:57

Littlemissy I am so sorry to hear that Sad

LH1981 · 20/01/2014 19:08

littlemissy hope you're ok and you get your sticky bean when you're ready to try again xx

Honeybear30 · 20/01/2014 19:24

Can I join in please? Got my bfp on Saturday. Think I'm approx 4+1 so very very early. charlieis30 your post rang true for me, early days and worried about possible chem as I've found out so early. But trying to keep positive and not fret. Also my first!

Spoke to doctors today, have to wait to be 6-8 weeks before seeing anyone which thanks to some prompt mnetters I now know this is normal. Will prob be 21st feb I get to go now due to holidays and various commitments. Got a mini break coming up so might just call doctors for advice re flying?

I'm so sorry littlemissy, sending you a hug.

Cindy5389 · 20/01/2014 19:29

Sorry to hear ur news littlemissy.

rockin20s · 20/01/2014 19:32

Sorry to hear that littlekmissy hope your okay.
Thanks for the new thread rockin, back to your post about hypnobirthing, my DM does this so I will be booking it in too :) to everyone with sore boobs, I'm the same, I'm not the biggest of sizes, so feels really weird having bigger heavier boobs!
Hello to more newbies too! There's lots of babies due Sept!

cookielove · 20/01/2014 20:30

little sorry to hear that ((hugs)) fix it will be okay.

Feel ok but it's still early days for me!

ExquisiteChristmasCakes · 20/01/2014 20:39

Sorry my EDD is 14th (for the list). Boobs are mega sore. No HG yet but feeling pretty sick, just no vomming which is a rather nice change. I need to get me some bras! 32 GG pre pregnancy so I shan't hold my breath for anything delightful.

LittleMissy; I'm sorry to hear it, I hope everything is fine, feel better soon :(

ExquisiteChristmasCakes · 20/01/2014 20:44

PregnantBerry, also my MW unit don't see you until you're 10 weeks, I think this gives people a chance to POAS and also you're further on from the miscarriage stage...they then "check you in" and book you in with the sonographer. To be truthful, if you want to know what's safe etc you can see your GP you needn't tell the receptionist it's pregnancy related...but apart from sickness, not much will happen between 0-10 weeks :)

kicksandgiggles · 20/01/2014 20:49

Thank you for the kind wishes earlier, and so sorry to those who also have gone through chemical pregnancy in the past.

I was at the EPU for five hours today, but it was totally worth it. I got to see a heartbeat…and not just one heartbeat, but two! They dated me at 6+3 with identical twins! I actually burst out laughing when the doctor told me, as it was such a relief and somehow struck me as hilarious!

There are greater risks with twins, so I am still nervous that something could go wrong, but also so freaking excited! I can't believe that DS could have two little sisters or brothers this year!

isitme1 · 20/01/2014 20:52

Awww brilliant! !
congratulations!!
wow. Thats amazing! ! Kicksandgiggles!!

Flowers Is this our first set of twins then?? X
rockin20s · 20/01/2014 20:54
