Hi everyone. Its been a very long time since I have posted on mumsnet, but today I have found out that I am expecting baby number 2. My ds1 is just over three years old. Bit shocked to be having another baby but very pleased too.
It would be great to get a thread going as people join me with their April 2007 due dates!!
Very nervous as ds1 had group b strep and birth and was v poorly but forewarned is forearmed as they say!
Look forward to chatting with anyone who feels like posting!

Babycakes - very sorry to hear your news. Hope you are getting lots of TLC and being kind to yourself.

Hope everyone else is doing okay. I am exhausted these days. DH is being great with breakfast in bed and such things.

I am usually one of those people who drink water at every opportunity - prefer it to most other drinks. However, now, I'm just not that interested in either water or fruit (and a whole bunch of other things). I want carbs. and certain veggies - mainly tomatoes. This isn't very good as I am probably a bit dehydrated. Poor bean...I keep reading that every bite counts during pregnancy and you have to make each morsel as nutritious as possible. I'm not eating really poorly but between weird cravings, an over-sensitive nose, and nausea, you hope enough good stuff is getting to the baby.
Hang in there everyone. Hope you've all had a good weekend and been able to rest a bit.
This MS will hopefully be a vague and distant memory in a couple months.

liath · 03/09/2006 20:12

Hollyhobbie & Westcountrylass - I might pick your brains later on if that's Ok, you both being experienced homebirthers and all! DH seems to think we'll have to line the whole interior of the house in plastic sheeting ! No doubt he'll just be running round like a headless chicken again like he did last time, poor sod.

liath · 03/09/2006 20:14

Oh, and at the breakfast in bed - DH booted me out at 6am when dd started wailing this morning despite it being his turn because he apparenty needed the extra sleep because he had to go to work & I "only" had to look after dd all day. Grrr .

WestCountryLass · 03/09/2006 21:01

Liath, pick away!

You can rest assured that it was not a blood bath, and anyway, the midwives cleared up

mammyjo · 04/09/2006 09:18

Morning all! Ms (although more like all day) still here with a vengeance. Tried the preggie pops which didnt do much unfortunately and now the very thought of them makes me feel nauseous.
Hope everyone is ok, have a good day xx

EllieMayW · 04/09/2006 11:05

Hi everyone, I have just found this site and this is my first message. You all seem so much nicer than on the other ones.

I am not sure whether I am 6 or 7 weeks pregnant because of erratic cycles. I paid for a scan last week to try and relieve the general worry and they thought I was 7 from my dates but then said that there was no heartbeat and that its survival chances were 50/50 (rather than re-assessing the dates)! Absolute nightmare. Anyway, we have another scan tomorrow morning at the EPU at Hosp and are hoping for a better experience (and, fingers crossed, possibly a hearbeat).

I feel soooooooo sick (although have not been), am having vivid dreams every night, have porn star boobs, horrible constipation, and generally feel totally blobby and completely pregnant. This will be my first though so am not sure what to expect.

Until I am told there is a heartbeat I am trying very hard to enjoy all the symptoms as being positive signs. To be honest I now wish that we had not been so impatient and waited for the 12 week one (date recd 6th Oct) as the last week has been awful and very worrying. If it is all okay then I will just be ecstatic (and probably cry as I seem to be doing a lot of that) and get back to enjoying being pregnant again.

bubbaloo · 04/09/2006 11:17

Morning All,

Welcome Elliemayw-Hope you get better results tomorrow at your scan.x

Feel a little bit guilty that everyone seems to be suffering from MS,when I've had none at all.Never had any with Ds either,so perhaps it's another boy.

Hope everyone is reasonably well though and I'm another one thinking of you,Babycakes-take care.x

CaptainDippy · 04/09/2006 11:32

Hello EllieMayW - Welcome! Praying that your scan goes much better tomorrow - what an awful thing to say to you - That is terrible - praying for much better results for your scan tomorrow - do let us know how it went honey - It could just be a dates mix-up - I went for an early scan with my 2nd cos I wasn't sure of my dates. They said from the scan I was 7 weeks and there was no heartbeat, they didn't seem concerned at all. Returned two weeks later - healthy little baby with a strong heartbeat! They are scare-mongering a bit, imho - Praying all will be ok honey! xxxx

emmymummy · 04/09/2006 13:35

Hello all & welcome EllieMay. DD got sent home from nursery today as she was sick twice this morning. I picked her up thinking 'Oh no, how am I going to cope with a voming 4 year old', as if she voms I will too as everything seems to be making me feel like heaving right now. Touch wood so far, she seems fine - she's just scoffed 2 pieces of toast and is demanding macaroni cheese. I'm trying to persuade her that as she's been sick she really should have a snooze this afternoon (obviously for selfish reasons so I can have one too). Am at that horrid state of ms where I feel sick all the time, the smell of food makes me feel sick, although if I don't eat I feel even more sick, and am craving certain things (like olives and Pringles). And when I do eat I can't eat much, but feel hungry about 5 mins later. Arrggh can't win, roll on 12 weeks.

Am also a complete emotional wreck at the mo. DD starts big school on Friday and I know I'm going to be blubbing from the moment she puts on her uniform - my baby's all grown up. Good job I'm having another one .

zazas · 04/09/2006 16:12

Hello all. Just got back from a 2 week holiday and seemed to have caught up with all the new postings. Welcome to all the new ones!

Reassuring to hear others describe their ms has kicked in... mine is a killer this time round and it has been a rough 2 weeks on holiday. In retrospect not the best time to be pregnant! I know exactly what everyone means about needing food but nothing appeals and then nothing tastes good anyway.

Actually have no more energy to post - need to lie down again -- not sure how I will cope with school run and work tomorrow - can't see me being able to hide this from anyone! If i am not in the loo, I am trying to lie my head down - I hate wishing time away but I really want these weeks to pass!

Greengirlforever · 04/09/2006 16:52

Zazas - ikwym - I have just had a sickie from work today because I'm just too damn tired - and my office smells funny! They don't know yet nor will they for some time if I can manage. It's not ms per se but I do have a "funny" feeling tummy and god - the tiredness!

Ellie May - welcome and hopefully you will stay with us all the way through.

Liath - I had a home water birth with DS2 which was absolutely wonderful for DH and I - but DS2 was not impressed and screamed for 48 hours solid! Poor lamb ended up in SCBU the next day anyway with an unidentified fever which might have been contracted in the womb, during the birth or after. All well now. I have to say if you are unlucky enough to have a screamer it is nice to have a midwife to hand him to - even if it's just for a little while. I am aiming this time for the midwife unit - we have a lovely one right here in my little town, walking distance from our house so it would be ideal. Good luck with the home birth though - seriously the only problem with ours was little DS2. It turned out that he had not mellowed out from the birth and was a very cross baby until he started walking at 10 months at which point he miraculously transformed into a very happy toddler!

Bugmum - I'm worried about the amnio but it has to be done for me if there is any doubt on the nuchal. I look to be about a week ahead of you from the stats so (of course!) I'll let you know what happens.

Oops - bugger!

CornflakeKid · 04/09/2006 17:11

Hello everyone and welcome new mn'ers!

I still feel terrible - it doesn't ease up at all - even feel sick when wake up in night - the news at the moment is so awful have clicked out of feeling sorry for myself and am just kind of getting on with feeling ill.

New bedtime 7.30pm!

Take care xx

Buckfyans · 04/09/2006 18:26

Hi everyone, hope everyone stops feeling yukky soon....

My dc saga continues, I rang the doctor again today as getting concerned now...I mentioned it to the doctor at last week's appointment (the cough scenario) and he said not to be too concerned. I spoke to another doctor on the phone today and she completely freaked and rang the EPU immediately . She rang me back to say she had mixed up dates so they should ring me tomorrow as she had to resubmit her form, but it sounds like its a scan for me . Now I AM getting worried . The dc isn't any worse... she just said it had been going on a bit long?

Other than that I only have super growing boobs (upto a 34D now) and no other symptons, I feel quite guilty about this also as you all seem to be suffering.

Going to eat dinner now...seeya.

IsabellaMoi · 04/09/2006 18:54

A big welcome to you EllieMay! Really hoping that your scan tomorrow reveals a heartbeat and sets your mind at rest. Let us know how it goes. As you say, all the horrible symptoms are a good sign!

Bugmum · 04/09/2006 19:26

Hello new peeps! Hope everyone is feeling...well, that it's bearable

Greengirlforever - Oh, I'm certainly not saying I wouldn't have the amnio, only that I wouldn't if the results of the nuchal and triple test look like they did last time, so fingers and toes crossed! Will be very interested to hear how you get on, as we are the oldies of the bunch

I am so fat and washed-out looking (usually quite fit and rosy), that like a lot of you, not sure how I'll keep this a secret, although the aim is not to tell work, most friends, even parents, until after the nuchal and triple test. My best friend knows and two other close pals, but that's it (other than DP, of course). Remind me - when does this get fun again?

oooggs · 04/09/2006 19:32

Babycakes hun so sorry

Still feeling sick and now being sick about 6pm everynight. Had to get on all fours in Debenhams resturant yesterday as blood pressure plumeted and I was just about to pass out.

Glad DH was there to grab DS. Not safe for me to go out unsupervised.

Seeing the midwife tomorrow for booking in.

Hope everyone ok Take Care xx

zazas · 04/09/2006 19:43

Bugmum - being 'older' I am too trying to hold off telling anyone until I get through the tests. So far anyone who has spent longer than 15 minutes with me has guessed! Other couple where we were on holiday figured it out pretty quick as did my sister-in-law when we stopped in to say hi - yesterday! My DS 5 thought I was maybe 'homesick' while we were away but then decided it was definitely a baby! Dreading work tomorrow - I am actually leaving the job but are supposed to be on a 1 day a week consultant contract with them for 6 months from November which isn't quite going to happen!

Anyway better get back to preparing the kids a 'ready meal' and myself some mash potatoes - LOL about advice to eat loads vege / fruit etc - I'm off everything including water so a nice plate of steamed veges has no appeal!

Fun????? What is that?!

WestCountryLass · 04/09/2006 19:48

I had my booking in appointment today which went well.

My midwife is supportive aobut decision not to have triple test and for homebirth and has booked me a scan "for reassurance" on October 3rd so not too long to wait.

Other than that it was all routine, besides my kids creating merry hell that is

WestCountryLass · 04/09/2006 19:50

Ooops, forgot to say, she has given me due date of March 31st but i'm not going to change over because baby could come anytime between 38 and 42 weeks so not a lot of point.

sleepingbag · 04/09/2006 20:14

Hi everybody, just wondered if i could join, haven't been on MN for ages, and have just logged on to see this thread. Am due around 15th april, this is 2nd baby for me, ds is just 2. Feeling really sick mainly afrternoon and evening and so knackered, my ds dvd watching has increased some what...feeling very guilty. Also hoping for a home birth, just need to persuade DH and everyone else first,as had forceps and bleed alot with ds.

CaptainDippy · 04/09/2006 20:25

Welcome sleepingbag!! Don't feel guilty - I wish my DD's would watch more DVDs so I could feel sick in private a bit more!! I'm on my third and hoping for a homebirth this time too!!

Bugmum · 04/09/2006 20:48

liath at your DH, btw: his turn means HIS turn. We also do turns in our house, and it is fine to swap (swap, note, not wuss out) if you have had a rotten night or have a heavy day ahead or feel terrible with - oh, I don't know - say MS, but for his reasons...!!!! I hope you find a way to get your revenge
