ThistletoeAndWine · 28/12/2013 18:58

mrsmummytobe · 28/12/2013 19:03

Omg Irish & kally, that sounds awful! Glad I'm not the only one with tricky in laws! Irish those comments would have driven me mad! Hope you have a great birthday to make up for it :)

We're off tomorrow for Christmas round 2 with my family so really looking forward to that! My mum is really excited about going baby shopping with me so I'm sure we'll get a few more bits. I'm def going to check out the toys r us sale too.

mumof2aimingfor4 · 28/12/2013 19:26

Hello gorgeous ladies. Just checking in whilst I've nabbed wifi connection off of a lovely waiter in the restaurant. blue im in Gran Canaria at the moment, weather is good some cloudy days and rained a couple of times during night. Bring warm clothes for evening as it gets chilly. Where in GC are you staying? We fly home the day before you come out. Puerto de Mogan is beautiful and great for when little one arrives, dd's (9 & 3) love it here (2nd time here this year, we come out at least annually).
Hello, and welcome clearly and moomin35 thank you for new thread mrsfoo

Xavielli · 28/12/2013 19:44

Thistle - yes it will be fine. I've not stopped lactating since DS2 was born over 3 years ago and DD2's (23mths) colostrum was just the same as all the others.

dobedobedo · 28/12/2013 19:54

Thistle you'll be grand. I've been leaking milk since 14 weeks, same with ds. Breastfeeding was fine.

I'm eating ds's chocolate thorntons football boot. I am a bad mother Grin

Irisheyessmiling · 28/12/2013 21:51

Thanks for advice xavielli, good to have an idea of what to look/beg for! And thanks too mrsmummy planning on cinema trip for hunger games and Mexican restaurant. I may clear their kitchen as I am RAVENOUS ALL THE TIME! Going to put mil to back of mind, she is a very difficult lady but trying to stay calm and rise above!

Squiffie · 29/12/2013 00:22

Wow, just took me aaaaages to catch up!

Welcome new people, congrats on scans and thanks for new thread.

Had a lovely Christmas and currently in London with DH - my Christmas present. My parents have DS and DD so been great to have a break, missing them like mad though!

I'm 18+4 today, got my 20 week scan on 8th Jan, I'll be 20 weeks exactly. Still being sick at least once a day; trying to see if there's a particular trigger as its just getting beyond a joke now.

ISawNannyPlumKissingSantaClaus · 29/12/2013 00:26

Marking place- will pop back tomorrow. :)

LongTailedTit · 29/12/2013 00:51

Agree with those that have said to borrow a Moses basket off a friend - they don't last long, esp for bigger babies, most are out by 4 months old. I have a solid wicker one that will eventually serve as a toy basket, but has already housed a newborn niece as well as DS!
You will need to buy a new mattress but they aren't expensive (new ones recommended due to SIDS risk I believe?).
You def don't need expensive fitted sheets for Moses baskets either (unless of course you want them!) as normal pillow cases work well tucked in properly.

Kiddicare are a really good supplier - price is good etc but what makes them great is their delivery service; they text you to let you confirm/choose delivery dates/deliver to neighbour etc, then on the day they text again to say what time they'll deliver. Sooooo bloody helpful, why doesn't everyone else offer this?!

Also good to note that John Lewis do Click'n'Collect for free to Waitrose stores, so you don't have to wait in for deliveries from them either.

I'm sorry you're still suffering with the sickness Squiffie, horrid for you. Virtual ginger tea in case it helps -> Brew

bluestone85 · 29/12/2013 01:07

mum we are staying in Puerto de Mogan Hehehe. Never been before, but can't wait! Thanks for the advice weather :) x

coffeepot99 · 29/12/2013 09:23

Hi all, it's a rather warm 35 degrees here today in Australia and I am sat in the house In front of a fan! :)

mumof2aimingfor4 · 29/12/2013 09:34

blue puerto mogan is my second home, its so relaxing and beautiful. There is a great restaurant called la bruschetta, the waiter with glasses (Antonio) knows us and speaks perfect English, not to mention that their food is gorgeous. Also the guys in fragatta II (both restaurants are on the beach front) know us and manolo (young one behind bar) is a guy I've grown up with if you need help or advice whilst your here he will help you as he's half English. By the way im Louisa.

mumof2aimingfor4 · 29/12/2013 09:35

Oh and don't use the tap water, not even to wash salad.

ThistletoeAndWine · 29/12/2013 09:58

I need to pack for my holidays today but I'm glued to bed !!!Wink

bluestone85 · 29/12/2013 10:01

Brilliant. Thank you :) I'm so excited! x

Xavielli · 29/12/2013 10:14

Happy Birthday Irish my PFB is 9 today too :)

bluestone85 · 29/12/2013 10:51

Has anyone had our getting the mothercare orb pram/pushchair? The husband and I went to have a look at pushchairs yesterday and really liked it. It seemed so easy to use and I loved the one handed rotation to move from parent facing to forward facing. Most reviews seem positive too. But just wondered if anyone on here had direct knowledge? X

dobedobedo · 29/12/2013 11:07

blue no experience, no, but I'm checking some baby stuff out on which later, I'll see if it says anything about it.

Today dh and I are making our baby stuff to buy list. FIL has very generously given us money for Xmas, almost a months wages for one of us! We have to get everything from scratch as ds is nearly 9 now so I have none of his baby stuff left and we don't know anyone who can hand us stuff down. So the main purchases:

Car seat
Isofix base
Pram (without carry cot, will get car seat to fit on it)
Sling
Cot
Moses basket and stand
Chest of drawers for baby clothes
Baby bath
Changing mats
Changing bag
Baby monitor
Nappy bin
Muslims
Blankets
Sheets

Am I forgetting anything? I'm not bothering with clothes at this point, that can wait until later.

dobedobedo · 29/12/2013 11:08

MUSLINS! Not Muslims. Grin

Spirael · 29/12/2013 11:48

Feeding stuff, dobedobedo? :) Either accessories for BFing or the paraphernalia for bottle feeding.

I know some lovely Muslims if you particularly fancy a visit from them after the birth. Grin They may not appreciate being used to mop up spills, however!

randdom · 29/12/2013 11:55

Has anyone booked/going to book NCT classes?

dobedobedo · 29/12/2013 12:28

Haha stupid autocorrect!
Not going to buy any feeding stuff. I didn't use any of the feeding stuff I bought for ds. I'm going to breastfeed and I hated pumping!
random I'm not going to do the nct classes. I might if this was my first though.

rebeccax2 · 29/12/2013 12:33

Not yet randdom

Oooohhhh everyone buying things is getting me excited. I feel a bit overwhelmed by all the things I have to get. The advice I've had across the board is to not bother too much with clothes because of all the gifts from family etc.

I want to, but I'm worried about waiting for the 20 week scan. Is it a nerve wracking thing? I'm thinking that it's pretty straight forward - at least, that is my hope!

MrsFooCough · 29/12/2013 12:47

Hey all!
Sorry for absence, we've had guests for the past two days so I've been a bit frazzled, it's hard being a perfect hostess when you're coughing your guts up constantly. Sigh. But bacon butties this morning were appreciated by them so I think I did good Xmas Grin
All the comments about what to buy have been brill, soon as DH is paid next month I think I'll be all over the sales like a rash, I need me some retail therapy! I'm unemployed y'see which makes buying anything for myself/baby a bit of a challenge. Sigh again.
