Am going to brave CIN but let's see how far I get before having to turn it off and reduced to a blubbering mess!

Chelsealady · 15/11/2013 20:03

I cant watch children in need i get to emotional especially with my hormones. Im not on facebook i deleted it when i found out i was pregnant because i would be tempted to announce my pregnancy and i had to many people i wanted to delete before hand like stuck up school associates that would have commented on my age.

While i was in hosp i kept hearing midwifes talk about ...% effected? Or something along them lines what is this lol?

mumoftwoboysS · 15/11/2013 20:12

rose I'll be doing the same as nom, a glass or two every few days is ok I reckon- why deny yourself the little pleasures in life after 9 long months? I'm not a big drinker but love wine (in moderation!)

alyssa I haven't joined the group on fb. Sorry ladies, it's nothing personal I just need to draw the line somewhere or I'll be on my phone all day- what with this, FB and word feud!! Feel like I could be missing out but sooo much to do! Which reminds me I really need to put another coat of paint on the nursery wall but can't seem to move off the sofa!

Stom91 · 15/11/2013 20:30

I was quite happy watching CIN dp comes in says did you buy any coke I'm watching football and turns over.
Charming. We've ordered curry and he decide to go in the shower 5 mins before it needs collecting. Urgh he's jut come in and been all bossy. Get some change out the change box bla bla. Bloody do one

Chelsea so glad you and baby are OK - we were all worried.
Were they saying ..... % effaced?

TMI ALERT I went to the clinic this morning and asked them to take swabs as along with lots of discharge it smells a bit 'weird' - not foul, just weird. Didn't think my waters had gone or anything, just thought I may have had an infection of sorts. I wash all the time, I feel dirty if I go to the bathroom (for a bowel movement) and don't get in the shower for a good clean. So am really on top of the hygiene.
Anyhow, as suspected, swabs came back positive for bacterial vaginosis - lovely! They've given me antibiotics but said its up to me if I want to take them - however, turns out the cause is disruption of the natural flora from over washing - so I've basically been exasperating the problem by washing so much. I did a bit of research and pre-term delivery is a risk, but I have no history of pre-term and am 37weeks anyway on Sunday... I see the midwife tomorrow so will see what she says. The clinic said if I stopped washing so much it'd correct itself. I just have this fear of going into labour or my waters breaking and me not being 'clean'.

I can't find anything that says it'll be a risk to baby (other then the preterm stuff). Worried that takingnantibiotics causes more of a risk, as well as increasing the likelihood of me getting thrush. So think just a quick splash and dash of the fanjo is the lesser of the evils.

How are we all with CiN? I'm holding it together fine, although Casualty had me bawling constantly!

Love to all x

MrsShrubs · 15/11/2013 20:35

So far so good with CIN I have to say!!

Stom91 · 15/11/2013 20:38

If it's any consolation I think I have thrush again... :/ I'm getting that discharge and weird smell again that I had last time. But none of the usually symptoms ( had. None last time either ) x

Sammy bless you. Know how you feel especially with the poo/wipe/am I really clean situation. I have taken to wiping then using wet wipes post poo as I am not convinced I can reach properly. Gross. Then I end up in shower too just in case lol.

Are you using pads at all? Must admit I feel a lot fresher when I do. Just make sure to get non scented ones.

Maybe leave the abs for a day or two and see if things balance themselves out.

You really don't need soap down there at all. And if you go into labour chances are you will have plenty of time for a bath before hand.

So glad you are ok chelsea!

Mum I'm the same as you with fb lol. Not enough hours in the day to keep up with everything lol.

Feel a bit odd today. Hoping it's nothing dramatic happening. Have had backache on and off, feel a bit sick, really bad acid reflux and just feel a bit anxious and edgy. Baby fine and kicking away. Just me that feels rough.

Think I am over tired. And dp snoring already so I may have to kill him lol.

NomDeClavier · 15/11/2013 20:54

chelsea I suspect they were saying effaced, which refers to how thinned out your cervix is. It goes from long and thick to short and thinned out before labour really starts.

5ammy · 15/11/2013 20:55

frouby. Will get done panty liners tomorrow. The worst thing is, I really really want to wash. Hate feeling dirty. DH is aware of the situation though so he may have to put up with dodgy smells for a few days 'til the natural balance restores. Then I'll just give it a quick splash in the shower as opposed to trying to get it all fresh.

Irony is, knowing I have a 'fanny infection' makes me feel dirtier then ever.

Ha ha oh well. Could be worse I guess. At least it's as a result of washing too much as opposed to not enough.

AngryByrd · 15/11/2013 21:07

Hi everyone!

37+1 today! so super excited!

went to the doctors today and ran into a couple who had lost their baby in late term pregnancy (at 7 months). I just sat down next to them and cried MY heart out. Then the lady who had lost her baby started crying and we just sat there crying till it was time for her to go into her appointment.

(they must think I am the most selfish a$$hole ever).

My c-section has been moved up by 5 hours, so instead of 11am; I'll be going in at 6am and hopefully in theatre by 7am next Friday!!!

My mother who is a triple specialised surgeon is arriving on the 21st with her 7 other doctor sisters+all their doctor husbands. My mil who is a lawyer is already in town and her 6 over achieving sisters and their super ridiculously over achieving husbands will also be in town. The neighbours have started joking about how all the local hotels have been taken over by our relatives...the sad thing is, it would be funny if it wasn't true. My mother is also getting quite upset that I won't let her into my op to 'observe'.

Not sure what day my dad is flying in, but I know he wants to come in with my mom. Together though, they are a tornado of affectionate disapproval.

froubylou · 15/11/2013 21:08

The glamorous bits of pregnancy Sammy. Its all good fun!

Just try and use water for a while. You won't smell I promise. I am sensitive to most soap and bubble bath and suffered awfully with cystitis for a few years post dd until my nurse friend told me to stop anything soapy coming into contact with my fanjo.

Haven't had it since! Try some cranberry juice as well. I used it a lot as if I caught any signs of burning I could avoid medication if I got a couple of pints down me. Check it is suitable for pgy and the infection you already have first but it may vlear everything up quickly without using the anti bs.

Chelsealady · 15/11/2013 21:20

Yep thats the one! Had an internal before i left hosp they said alot thinner and stretchy and babys head was lower than the day before but still 2cm...:s

Because iv lost my mucus already and had the drugs to hold back my labour im abit worried because im still getting the contractions and not everyones waters break so i dont no how im going to tell im in actual labour? Especially being on such strong pain killers....been trying not to take the tablets incase i dont notice the pain increasing but i just cant sleep with out them!

LadyMedea · 15/11/2013 21:34

chelsea are you going to be monitored on a regular basis? I.e. Do you have to go back to hospital or see your community midwife for extra check ups? I would have thought their input would have been important.

I was also wondering have you met a young persons midwife? Lots of areas have them and they give extra support to younger Mums. I think it would be good for you as all this medical speak must be completely overwhelming if you are your own.

5ammy if you can get hold of it I recommend lactacyd shower gel - www.boots.com/en/Lactacyd-Femina-daily-wash-200ml_1133397/

I used this all over instead of shower gel for years to avoid thrush as even run off from the rest of me would set it off. You can still wash your furry very outer bits and bum once a day, just give your inner fanjo area a break - it's self cleaning!

mumoftwoboysS · 15/11/2013 21:55

I'm having a good blub- CIN- a couple lost their two young kids to a horrible disease..heartbreaking..

Chelsealady · 15/11/2013 21:58

lady yes iv got to go back every week until the baby is born...on strict bed rest and also must go straight back in if i feel worse even in the slightest way!

Yes very confusing i didnt know you could be tested for prem labour or that there was a drug to try and stop it!

Know one has mentioned young persons midwife may have to look at that. Thanks x

WhisperMen · 15/11/2013 22:04

oh god I am sobbing at that mum especially that the second child died so soon after the first. dp said it was probably because of a broken heart.

mumoftwoboysS · 15/11/2013 22:10

I know whisper can't believe they died so close together- absolutely heartbreaking- cannot comprehend what the parents went through. Makes me want to go upstairs and smother my boys in kisses. Also makes me scared that I'm going to have another precious little child to look after....

mumoftwoboysS · 15/11/2013 22:11

God angry that's heartbreaking too. Don't feel bad for crying I think I would have found it hard not to- I'm sure they just thought you were very empathetic!

Onesliceortwo · 15/11/2013 22:14

Rose - we used reusable nappies last time and they were great! We didn't use them until DD was about eight weeks old and I only used them by day - they don't last as long as disposables so you have to change them more frequently (and I did everything I could NOT to change her at night as she always woke up!). Not sure if you are based in the UK, but if you are, many councils do an incentive scheme to promote their use - in Devon, you can borrow a trial kit of all the main brands for a month and then get 20% off the total cost should you choose to buy. We used two sorts - both a similar idea, but each on offer at different times! Hope these links work .......
www.totsbots.com/ (TOTS BOTS)
www.bgnappies.com/ (BUM GENIUS)
We stopped using them when she hit about 16 months as she wet through them, but there are all sorts of boosters etc you can get to overcome this problem - we just took the lazy option!
We will certainly be using them again this time - they saved us a fortune and were not a lot of work!
Hope that's helpful x

Deya · 15/11/2013 22:15

5ammy I was diagnosed with BV some four weeks ago during a routine swab. I didn't really have any symptoms, maybe a bit of ammonia smell to my discharge. Anyways, I was prescribed antibiotics and am very glad I did some research before taking them.
Firstly, without obvious symptoms it is recommended not taking antibiotics. Secondly, why would I want to take anything that can be potentially harmful to my baby, is known to cause cancer in mice and could give me a thrush ( and other secondary infections ).
I bought over the counter lactic acid suppositories ( called Balance Activ I think ). Use the cream every night for 5 days and it should restore your healthy balance. It did the job for me! infection tests have been negative ever since. Happy days and no nasty meds involved!

beth27123 · 16/11/2013 06:07

Awh ladies looks like you're all in the wars, I do hope you all get well soon!
I cant complain much tonight I've been up twice at 2am and now to use the toilet but (sorry for the TMI) for the first time in just under two weeks it's solid. I was so happy at 2am I went and raided the fridge. DP assumed something was wrong and came looking for me, only to find a pile of chocolate/yoghurt/orange wrappers/peels.
I'm going to pick up a birthing ball today after our Facebook discussion, DP insists using him would work the vile git so Im paying on his card!
Chelsea it's definitely worth checking out the midwife, I had one and while she was the last thing I personally needed (she took a quick and strong dislike to DP which caused issues) I'm sure most of them are far more supportive! Looking at what she should have offered it would have been great.

BohemianRaspberry · 16/11/2013 07:29

Wow the thread has moved so much already!

I find panty liners great for fou freshness and rather than washing like crazy I find changing the pad through the day is nice. Also was told by the doctor after a double episode of thrush to ditch the leggings for couple of days and go to baggy cotton pants and clothes with fou air flow. She was right that did help.

Have the parents over this weekend. The kitchen has never been so clean! And diy dad painted the whole of the kitchen and dining room. Only thing is is DM is a shopping fanatic and doesn't seem to realise that my speed is very limited so I may plant myself in the centre of town and let her bring me things. Wish me luck!

Have a good day people x

Alyssa1978 · 16/11/2013 07:47

Been sick for the third morning/night in a row now and I've got horrible cramps in my thighs at the top, going to sit in my gym ball and see if I can get comfy.

Have a goid day everyone xx
