But will make sure no-one's left on the old one.

Hope everyone is blooming and not too hot!

kat, dont let the age thing worry you...from what you said on your other thread you have lots of support and your family behind you so you'll be fine. sorry that this has only been a short chat, but i really do have to go and sort out some boring laundry lol. im on and off mumsnet loads tho, so i'll catch you later i expect bye xox

XxXKatXxX · 21/08/2006 14:04

nowanearlyNicemum · 21/08/2006 14:22

have a lovely time tonight at the uber-udder convention - gutted I can't be there too.
haven't got a check up for ages now but am fairly sure that baby hasn't got himself ready for take off. haven't got that feeling of his head pressing down yet.... still time though [fingers crossed emoticon]
glad to hear your antenatal classes are all going well - have met a couple of nice lasses at mine which is fab as we've recently moved and I don't know that many people around here.
clon and xkatx - welcome to the gang
I like your attitude jmcmugwump!! I don't think the birth is to be dreaded either - even though I didn't have a great experience last time. Can't wait to see how this baby decides to enter the world!!

DogMum · 21/08/2006 14:22

Welcome to the thread, Kat. It's my first time too (I'm young at 39), due on 21 October - don't know whether it's a boy or a girl. I saw your other thread and am also pleased to hear you have lots of support. When you feel able to and if you have enough help available, it's worth picking up your schooling again in some form or another. You'll definitely appreciate it in the longer term. (Lecture over, but honestly it will you more options!)

Let other people worry about your age - think you're silly, whatever they like, it's not your problem. You don't need to worry about it. You're in the situation you're in and you will cope. Most of the feelings, problems etc. are the same however old you are. You'll find the mums on here really supportive I'm sure. I know I do.

Swizzler · 21/08/2006 14:24

Welcome Kat! Hope everything is going well so far.

Looking forward to tonight. Though maybe I should hold back on the pizza as just troughed my way through a load of Green and Black's ice cream (the choc and orange is very good. In fact, they're all very good). I sorted through all the baby clothes etc. we've bought at the weekend and I have more than I thought. Just a few bits and pieces, plus the pram and crib, to sort out now. Will be trying one of those Wilkinet slings as well.

Still finding it difficult to get settled at night, but making uo for it by sleeping loads at the weekend. I've managed to get through work so far without an afternoon nap, but may start sneaking off to the first aid room for a bit of kip

News reports are talking about the end of summer - hurrah!

Gingeme: we promise not to give your DH any funny looks tonight. I mentioned to my DS that someone's partner was coming along and he looked horrified! He's convinced that being in the same room with more than 1 pg woman would make his hair fall out due to us oozing oestogen...

jmcmugwump: not sure I'm looking forward to the birth bit, but def looking forward to actually meeting this baby. As is DH - in fact, he's getting v. imaptient and keeps hoping the baby will turn up really early. I'd prefer not to have it at work myself

DogMum · 21/08/2006 14:26

Nowanearly, also gutted that you can't be there. My m'wife said it's early yet for the baby to be in position (and frankly I can do without it for a bit longer, apparently the buggers really press down on your bladder!) In one of the many books I've read, it said rocking on a birth ball (exercise ball) can help the baby get into position, PARTICULARLY if you do it when the baby is active. Hope it helps.

Also, lying on your left side rather than your right is supposed to be better (but I think this is for getting the baby facing the right way rather than head-down.)

XxXKatXxX · 21/08/2006 14:27

Hey guys thanks for the welcoming form you all yea DM i am im going to do half days at school after couple of months so hoping to get it all back on track mums agrred to look after him while having half days although teachers wernt best pleased about hearing i was expecting!
Yes the age thing its horrible that so many people throw you into that stereotyping 'young useless mother who doesnt know what shes doing'
but screw em! its my problem not theres nosy buggers!
x

nowanearlyNicemum · 21/08/2006 14:30

hadn't heard that before, about lying on your left side DogMum - will concentrate more when I'm trying to get comfy in bed tonight

Tigerlion · 21/08/2006 14:36

Really sorry but won't be able to make it tonight as looks as though DS has got chickenpox. Going to the doctor's surgery this afternoon. We have been to lots of first bday parties recently and I would not be surprised if he picked it up there. Great timing! Rather than risking spreading it to everyone else, I am going to stay at home. If it is chickenpox, PIL have kindly offered to take him for a few days to look after him to give me some rest. They are FAB!

Have nice pizzas and enjoy! Thanks so much for organising it all Swizzler.

nowanearlyNicemum · 21/08/2006 14:58

poor you Tigerlion - and poor ds. hope he's not feeling too rotten. lucky you for having such great pils though

clon · 21/08/2006 15:19

Good afternoon all

Welcome to the thread Kat, I'm an oldie but on here we are all the same just trying to face motherhood in the best way we can and it's great to chat to people in the same situation.

Tigerlion, sorry to hear you won't be coming tonight and the pox situation.

Gingeme sorry to hear about your anniversary, blokes hey! No evil stares tonight though.

Really looking forward to meeting those that can make it.

majormoo · 21/08/2006 16:46

Hi All. Sorry but not going to make it tonight. Realised we are skint til payday on Friday plus cannot face the thought of the trek up to London and back tonight. Just about managed to drag myself into Brighton this afternoon!

Have a great time all

whiffy · 21/08/2006 17:15

Oh no, this is so embarassing but I have to cry off too. I was feeling rough so went down for a nap earlier hoping I would feel refreshed but have just come out of shower and am still feeling really lousy and tired. Really annoyed with myself as this was probably last chance to meet some of you before we all have our babies. Apologies to all and hope you have a good time....

emzickle · 21/08/2006 17:26

I'm 19... so I think I maybe younger than most.

BENDYB · 21/08/2006 17:36
