I am sadly getting quite excited at the thought of my sponge being delivered Grin

Sniff sniff chew chew

lol

olivo · 02/06/2006 11:17

must pick one up next time i'm shopping Yellow, just in case I'm missing out on something Wink

YellowFeathers · 02/06/2006 11:19

Its the smell and the overwhelming urge to bite it lol Grin

Forgot to ask, is anyone practising their breathing techniques when they get BH's? I'm trying to get back into it again and I have to say it does help.

Also those of you who were going to ante-natal classes, have you done them all yet or are you still waiting to go?
If you've been, what did you think?

BigHotMama · 02/06/2006 11:27

Thanks girls, its the not knowing what the hell it is thats annoying me? Am seeing my midwife next week so will bring it up (if I remember???) Was having crazy thoughts about being bed-ridden until the birth, really hope it dont happen again. I sit at a desk all day and sometimes when I get up belly just feels likes it gonna drop. Do often get up for a walk and am now considering doing some strecthes and mini-squats in the loo's just to keep flexible.
Havent really suffered with any pains so far so maybe its my turn now to get some. Wink

Imagining mad thoughts of you lot with ya sponges/soaps & am PSML Grin

Am addicted to the Jools Oliver book BTW, she's wicked!

YellowFeathers · 02/06/2006 11:30

Sounds like baby has engaged BHM.

BigHotMama · 02/06/2006 11:38

Oh forgot to add Yellow, not having Braxtons yet and am starting my antenatal class on Tuesday evening so can let you know then and when I get'em. Are they quick breaths your doing? How often are you getting them?

YellowFeathers · 02/06/2006 11:41

I'm getting loads but MW said thats normal for second pregnancies.

It's long breaths. A big breath in and slowly release making like a whoosing noise.
It helped when I had dd.

Micku5 · 02/06/2006 11:51

Morning all.... just found out that I am an aunty again. GrinMy sister gave birth this morning to her second child a little girl.

BigHotMama · 02/06/2006 11:52

Oops crossed posts! Do you think so yellow? I thought it would be too early for baba to have turned at nearly 31 weeks? I'll ask midwife to have a good feel of bump and see what she says. That would explain the heaviness below though? Ah pregnancy, dont ya just love it! Grin

dressedupnowheretogo · 02/06/2006 11:56

hi ya im jealous ive not had any braxton hicks at all have spent the morning ironing the babys bedding oh the fun

i spent all night cuddling a lovely five month lil boy who was 8 weeks early he was sick on me and i did nt blink normally id throw a strop and throw the baby back at the mum but i just calmly picked up a baby wipe and wiped it up must be the hormones my dh nearly fell ont he floor as i dont do sick or lil babies normally i wanted to bring him home

on an even better note my dh mentioned i was gonna bf and his mate told him get her the avent isis duo its only [90] quid Shock best thing going and he said to me on way home well at least if you get from boots you'll get loads of points oh my god Shock what is happening to him

glad to know everyone is well has any one started there ante natal classes yet mine arent til last week in june

YellowFeathers · 02/06/2006 11:57

Awww congratulations Micku Grin
Thats lovely news!

BHM, my dd engaged at 31/32 weeks.

dressedupnowheretogo · 02/06/2006 12:05

micku is it your first time as an auntie

olivo · 02/06/2006 12:11

congrats micku!Smile

Yelow -I've started antenatal - have had 5 nct ones out of 8. i have to say that a lot of it is stuff i already knew through reading ( and I teach some GCSE childcare so know quite a bit of the 'factual' stuff!) and of course, from mumsnet! yesterday was a breastfeeding one and thought the lady was lovely and I wouldnt hesitate to phone her if i needed help, i didnt feel i learnt that much that i couldnt have read in my own time. they also kept recommending your partner go and poor dh was really bored!!Grin

on the upside though, its great to be able to meet some real lifers who are going through the same - we are all first timers too so i'll go to the rest - i've told dh he doesnt have to go as long as he's nice to me Wink

sorry - end of essay!

olivo · 02/06/2006 12:13

by the way, i havent had any braxton hicks yet - I'm only 28 weeks is that normal?

dressedupnowheretogo · 02/06/2006 12:16

me too olivio oooh 16 yr olds poor you

YellowFeathers · 02/06/2006 12:18

They sound good!

When I attended them with dd, I think BF was the only one I found informative and useful. Especially the positioning part of it.

Bh's I wouldn't worry about. You'll know when you get them. Your bump will go all hard and you'll feel a pulling sort of sensation.
I think I got these a bit later last time.
I do remember going down to Hayling Island for a week away and during the car journey down I had loads. Dh went in to total panic mode as he thought I was going in to labour lol Grin

PinkTulips · 02/06/2006 12:37

BHM, my bump has been head down since 25 weeks so 31 definitely isn't too soon! his head is definitely very low too as he's making it very difficult to pee (sorry TMI) and i can feel him between my legs when i'm standing. what you had definitely sounds like the baby turning, i was in agony the nights this baby and dd decided to go for it and they both did it sooner than 31 weeks so can't have been taking up as much space as your fella. take it as a good sign he's getting ready for action!

Yellow, the breathing excercises are what keep me sane with the BHs, i force myself to stop and do them everytime to stop myself getting as stressed and frustrated. pmsl at your sponge btw!

dressedupnowheretogo · 02/06/2006 12:39

does it have to be a natural sponge or a synthetic one

PinkTulips · 02/06/2006 12:43

you girls remind me of dd, she sits in her bath every night sucking all the water out of her sponge and drinking it, if i try and remove it she throws a fit!

Micku5 · 02/06/2006 12:58

No am already an aunty to niece and nephew. She had to have another c-section because her last baby was big and they were afraid that this one would be big again if she went full term.

Just convinced dh to take me dd and I to Bluewater Grin have pleaded poverty so may get treated to lunch lol.

At 27 weeks now and just realised that in 12 weeks times i could be holding my baby in my arms.. that's scary considering our house is still a building site and neither dd's room or nursery are ready. So in August i'm going to have both children in our room. Need to get the bathroom done as well because I am getting too big to fit into the downstairs shower. Blush

YellowFeathers · 02/06/2006 13:11

I HAVE MY SPONGE!

Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

A nice lovely synthetic sponge to sniff and chew all day Grin

Never mind the £90 worth of shopping thats now sat waiting to be eaten!

PinkTulips · 02/06/2006 13:15

Thats good to know Pinky/Yellow, I'll hopefully get it confirmed with midwife and let you know! Pinky, that must be hard when your walking feeling it between your legs hun? Mine just feels like its touching my bits and must say my bits are starting to look as big as the forest of dean (sorry if tmi!). Must get waxed.

Congrats Micku5, your baba will have a cousin to play with around same age, how lovely!

Booby, I got a dvd demo on the Isis IQ Duo with my breastfeeding kit and it looks fab, think they're around £250. You start off the pumping yourself press a button and it takes over automatically for you at the same pace and can do 2 boobs at once - bonus! Grin

sarahlou1uk · 02/06/2006 18:14

BHM - I've just had a look for that breast pump and the cheapest I could find was on kiddicare at £239!!! Think I'll make do with a manual one!!!

Arabica · 02/06/2006 20:51

I wouldn't recommend a manual pump, I got really fed up using my Avent last time as it took forever to get any milk. If you're going to be expressing loads I'd go for an electric.
Going to collect my buggy on Sunday!
