JollyHappyGiant · 06/08/2013 23:08

I haven't done one. For an ELCS it's not really necessary! "Breastfeeding is very important to me" would be all it would say.

JollyHappyGiant · 06/08/2013 23:10

Congratulations to all the babies. Look forward to seeing you all on the post natal groups :)

MrsPennyapple · 07/08/2013 00:30

When I had DD I did write a rough birth plan, but the midwives asked me lots of questions about what I wanted so I ddin't actually have to get it out of my bag. I didn't have very fixed ideas though, I was prepared to just go with whatever happened. I had read about delayed cord clamping so mentioned that, and they were fine with that.

I haven't written one this time around. I would like to be as active as possible, and would quite like DH to find out the sex first, and tell me, so I might write a quick one, but really I'm happy to just go and get baby out however it comes out.

My EDD of yesterday was based on scan, my EDD by LMP is 11th. I'm hoping baby comes before 11th!

Gerty1002 · 07/08/2013 06:55

iJustWore I haven't written one either - I intended to, and know pretty much what I want, but heard they rarely get looked at. Was supposed to discuss birth plans with midwife at last appointment but had a different midwife and she didn't even mention it.

Think I might just do one for DP in case for any reason he has to request things/be pushy on my behalf.

cakebaby · 07/08/2013 07:45

Hello everyone, just checking in. Finally finished work, some AL before ML starts, can't believe how lazy shattered I am, or how I managed to go to work! Guess I was running on adrenalin trying to get to the end.

Congrats to all those with new arrivals, exciting times for those with twinges and niggles. Nothing here, nada, nowt. Wriggly baby obviously comfy in there, which is fine by me at the moment. Finding it more uncomfortable in bed with achey hips if I stay put for too long and also bizarre pain in right shoulder. Other than that, all seems fine.

Anyone heard from babyh ?

Gerty1002 · 07/08/2013 09:06

cakebaby I was the same when I finished work - cleaned the house top to bottom on the first day, wrote a huge list of 'big jobs' to do, then pretty much just slept and ate for over a week. Into week three now and my to do list has barely been touched, but I'm not letting myself feel guilty about it.

Though I do think mine was possibly iron related at first as it seemed to improve a little when I started taking pregnacare supplements.

MrsPennyapple · 07/08/2013 09:37

Gerty I think if you know what you want, and there are certain things that are important to you, it's worth writing a birth plan. Also good for your DP to have it written down, so that you know he understands exactly what you need and want, in the event he has to answer any questions on your behalf whilst you're sucking on the G&A :)

They are not always ignored, I think it varies from hospital to hospital, and mw to mw. A lot depends on how things go at the time. If everything happens very quickly you just might not get chance to put it into action. Or if, for example, you want a water birth but when the time comes all the pools are occupied, there's not much anybody can do about it.

So, this is a bit weird, and very likely TMI. This morning when I got up, I went to the loo, and there was a sort of menstrual smell. Thought maybe something was happening, like losing my plug. But when I wiped, nothing. No plug, no discharge of any kind actually. Am about to start googling, and searching previous threads, to see if this is common. Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else has noticed similar?

Snufflebabe · 07/08/2013 14:48

So I am 38+7 and soooo ready to have this baby! I had the midwife yesterday an cold her about my painful hands and feet but I was told to just rest - errrrm, I have a near 3 year old toddler, when do I get a second to rest?!

Next appointment is next Thurs on my due date when the midwife will give me a sweep.

I'm getting lots of short, sharp pains below the bump. The kind that make you stop in your tracks.

Baby isn't engaged at all yet, but midwife says that after the first DC the baby may not engage until I go into labour.

COME ON BABY!

Gonnabmummy · 07/08/2013 15:59

purple I have a birth plan in there that my midwife okayd with me when we went through it but she hasn't signed it :/

PurpleDana · 07/08/2013 19:33

That's ok gonnab, it's just a record of discussion and wishes, it's not about permission. U will be fine :-)

GaryBuseysTeeth · 07/08/2013 20:11

Congrats Ruck, sorry to hear about the feeding issues, glad it's improving Flowers

Snuffle, sounds promising!

MrsPennyapple, I smelt like that a few days before my waters went! I examined toilet paper like a loon trying to work out what it was!

cakebaby, hurrah for finishing work!

Trenchcoat, I just had some basics on my birthplan (for both pg); no forceps if avoidable, yes to all the drugs. Just incase DH forgot what I wanted (and I was too out of it to mention things)

Gerty, glad everything is looking ok (and positive for sooner-rather-than-later labour).
I went in for reduced movements twice with DS1 & three times with DS2, every time the buggers started dancing the second monitors were attached!

MrsPennyapple · 07/08/2013 21:38

I did lose a bit of mucus about an hour after I posted. Went to my mw today as normal, she did a sweep and have now lost some more mucus and a bit of blood. I'm having contractions, not terribly painful but noticable, so will just keep on as I am and see what happens overnight.

DD has been deposited at PIL just in case anything happens overnight, just because last time around it all happened so fast, 2.5hrs from waters breaking. She was going to be spending tomorrow with them anyway, so it works out quite well.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

GaryBuseysTeeth · 07/08/2013 23:05

Oooh, good luck MrsPennyapple! And fingers crossed for another quick one.

Ditsy79 · 08/08/2013 01:58

Baby Francesca Olivia born on sun 4th August - 8lb 7oz.
Went in for planned induction on Wed, didn't get labour going until Sat when they broke my waters. Had an epidural (amazing stuff!) and laboured for 11 hrs before I was fully dilated. All looked good, but then baby's head was at a slight angle and her heart rate was getting a bit low. So she emerged following an emergency c-section. We are both fine, and came home from hospital yesterday. She is absolutely gorgeaous!
Congratulations to all the others who have had their babies. Sending good vibes to all of you who are still waiting.

Gerty1002 · 08/08/2013 06:00

congratulations ditsy!

Good luck MrsPennyApple

I just keep getting phases of uncomfortable BH, nothing dramatic so think I've got a while yet. Got midwife appt today and hoping for baby to be a little more engaged. Feeling so very full of baby!

cakebaby · 08/08/2013 08:05

Yeaaaahhhhh ditsy congratulations and yippee for epidurals!

Gary and ruck hope you are doing well, any names yet?

mrsP exciting stuff, another quick one do you think?

No birth plan here yet, have a MW appt next week so will discuss it then I guess. I did have very strong views at the start, but now I seem to have lowered my demands expectations and am more relaxed about taking it as it comes (but I reserve my right to become hysterical about it all again) Anyone using a TENS machine?

Just my luck that now I've finished work I'm waking up at 5am, fidgeting and generally driving DH bonkers. OK for me as I can veg on the sofa, but he's got stupid work to go to [manly tired face]!

Gonnabmummy · 08/08/2013 10:29

I feel ridiculous for writing this but..... Can stretch marks sort of burst?
Woke up this morn with hundreds yes hundreds of tiny wee little one, just had a few big ones before so he must of had a good shuffle.
3 of the big ones have dried blood running right along them (not loads very small amount like a scratch or shaving fopaux.
Anyone had this I'm sure he's tunnelling out ! Shock

Gonnabmummy · 08/08/2013 11:54

Also can you request a different midwife in labour? Or are you just stuck with the one that's assigned to you?
I feel terrible for feeling like this but can blame the hormones, have been having slight nightmares about having the rude midwife to labour with. I can't handle the thought it makes me so upset, I just cannot let that appointment go actually hoping I make it to 39 week just to see my midwife again.
Never been one to hold a grudge but can't seem to let this drop :'(

GaryBuseysTeeth · 08/08/2013 12:26

Congratulations Ditsy! Beautiful names...sorry labour was a long old slog.

cake, we have an Edward! Finally decided on the first name, still not a clue about the middle names, lucky they've given us a late registering appointment so we've got under a month to decide.

Is there a postnatal group yet? I couldn't find one, but didn't want to start one just incase I'm being really braindead & it's staring me in the face!

Gonna, no idea how small the team is where you were, but I didn't see any of the midwives I saw whilst pg when I was in labour/postnatal. So fingers crossed for you.
No idea about the bloody stretch marks but I hope he makes an apperance soon!

BrieMonster · 08/08/2013 13:23

Same here gonna, the community midwives are separate from the hospital ones. And usually the ones in the labour suite were different again from ones on the ward. You're bound to come across a few good 'uns along the way. Or perhaps I got them all??

Gonnabmummy · 08/08/2013 13:29

The community midwife is sep but the one I have a problem with is from the delivery suite at hosp, she was filling in as mine was on hol, it's the first time I've seen anyone else so I'm lucky that way but her whole demeanour was nt good.

And so do I gary I think I'm housing an alien or very sharp clawed human! Will keep an eye next two/three days see what happens, if it gets worse I'll give the midwife a tinkle, it's strange very strange and I thought I was doing ok on the stretch marks especially when midwife said he feel big she thinks he'll be 9 maybe 10 lbs! It's asif he's gained a foot over night!

LilPeasMama · 08/08/2013 23:04

Hello everyone,

IJustWore I haven't done a birth plan either and my midwife hasn't mentioned it.
As other's have now said I think it maybe good for DP to know exactly what I would want, even though we have discussed it in all the chaos he may panic and not remember Hmm

Congratulations Ditsy Gary and Ruck Smile

Cake I'm collecting a tens machine tomorrow, I didn't really have any intentions to use one but after reading some reviews I'll give it a go!

Been having lots more BH that take my breath away and pressure down below in the last day or two and baby is still moving round lots!
The pressure on my tail-bone has been quite bad now for the last week, my DM has made me a donut pillow bless her Blush

38+2
