Christelle2207 · 05/08/2013 10:48

+3 rather, getting rather ahead of myself.

Bakingabubba · 05/08/2013 11:40

Hi all

Just returned from the midwife and head is now 3/5 palpable so finally starting to move down - hurrah! (Well aware this may mean nothing in terms of things starting any sooner but was convinced it wasn't going to engage EVER!)

I need some of this cleaning instinct that you lot seem to be describing - none at all so far except for wanting to permanently empty the washing basket! Unfortunately this seems to just create a larger and larger mountain of ironing...hmmm...

Congratulations to all who have had their babies - enjoy getting to know your little additi

Bakingabubba · 05/08/2013 11:42

Oops - not sure what happened there! Should say ... Enjoy getting to know your little additions!

Hope everyone is doing ok and those struggling with sleep and aches and pains are managing to get a little bit of rest during the day.

38+6

GaryBuseysTeeth · 05/08/2013 21:44

Congrats send & Trixie! Flowers

Been very lazy in updating (and telling everyone in RL) but DS2 arrived last Tuesday at 38+3wks, just under 7lb 4.
They wanted to induce me because I had low amnotic fluid levels & reduced movements (believe my waters started leaking on the Friday night) but I was 3cm by the time they started, so they just had to fully pop my waters, 1hr 39m labour & a far nicer experience all round than DS1's induction!

to MrsPennyapple and anyother fed up ladies...at least the weather has cooled down a bit.

BrieMonster · 05/08/2013 22:44

Yaaaaaay gary!!!! Congratulations. Xx

PurpleDana · 05/08/2013 22:47

Congrats gary!! I'm 38+3 tomorrow so the same would be nice pls ;-)

Gerty1002 · 06/08/2013 06:54

Congratulations gary!

I behaved like a paranoid pregnant lady last night and rang delivery suite to ask if too much movement could be a sign of distress... I have a very active baby generally but last night was ridiculous, I was crying out in pain from kicks to my cervix and pelvis, and I could see every movement of every limb! I was actually worried my waters might have gone without me realising. Midwife just told me movement is usually good but to keep an eye on it, which I expected.

Once crazy alien movements subsided I actually managed to get some sleep! I had forgotten how wonderful it is Smile

RuckAndRoll · 06/08/2013 08:38

Morning all.
I've been awol for a bit, busy having a baby!
Ds was born Sunday 28th at 38wks weighing 6lb 15.5oz.
My waters went Saturday afternoon, I spent a few hours wondering if I had lost total bladder control though. Got checked out sat evening, confirmed it was waters and they wanted to induce me straight away due to my bp. We had a chat and agreed I could go home but go in first thing Sunday.
Spent the night bouncing and resting but nothing started. They went to do the pessary to find I was 3cm so told me to walk until a bed on labour ward could be found.
Drip was attached, nothing for 1.5hrs. Then things changed. I had 1.5hrs of contractions, with about 4 or 5 contractions worth of gas and air.
I then spent over 2 hrs in theatre being repaired. It's been a tough week as ds had a bad tongue tie so had to syringe fed, he's getting better now though.

Gonnabmummy · 06/08/2013 10:19

Congrats everyone on your babies Flowers

Any sign of yours yet mrspennyapple

Midwife app in 45 mins apparently checking for engagement which has defiantly happened somewhat this last three days I can't close my legs on the sofa! Will let you all know when I'm back.

Just out of curiosity does anyone have slightly different edd from scan to LMP, if I go by LMP I would be 4 days further on, it just plays on my mid a bit I sort of give my self two due dates lol

Gerty1002 · 06/08/2013 10:51

Yes I do gonnabmummy, originally it was 5th Sept by LMP but scan brought it forward to 30th August. I had v irregular cycles though in the 9 months it took to conceive, so I knew my LMP date was likely to be out.

Christelle2207 · 06/08/2013 12:50

ah well done to the new arrivals!! Hope there are more soon.
I have three different due dates. My EDD is the 2nd (so am officially overdue), by LMP is the 8th. However I was charting my cycles and know when I ovulated so my actual due date is today.

PurpleDana · 06/08/2013 13:43

My original edd based on lmp was 20th, then scan brought it forward 3days to 17th.

Gerty1002 · 06/08/2013 14:24

Currently in antenatal clinic waiting to be strapped up to a monitor - baby is having a very lazy day after his monumental movements last night! I'm sure it's nothing but I knew I wouldn't relax until I know for sure he's ok.

I'm going to be a nervous wreck for -the next 18 years rest of my life aren't I?!

Gonnabmummy · 06/08/2013 14:45

Definitely the rest of gerty

LO is 3/5 engaged :D he may rock up before his due date, knew he was because this last 3 days have changed a lot. Can't put feet up and cross them over on sofa anymore

Everything else spot on. Diff midwife as mine away was looking forward to seeing someone else as didn't think mine was fab but after that app I'm glad I've got the one I have.
She was rather rude and I had discussed with my midwife about water birth, cut off point is 35 bmi and mines 34 so close but my midwife said she'd be happy to let me as I'm very able of getting in and out plus I'm below guideline.
Even if slightly above she said it isn't exactly set in stone.
But this midwife insisted it was 32 and showed my old guidlines from 2012 and has defaced my notes saying that I wouldn't be able to due to it being 32!

It's upset me more than I realised even after coming home and seeing that the guidelines now say 35 :(

Gerty1002 · 06/08/2013 15:44

Well of course baby decided to do hia usual gymnastics as soon aa rhe monitor was on! They were a little worried about his high heart rate when active at first but as it kept returning to normal they said it's fine.

Also said baby's head is 'way down' and wrote 3/5 palpable in my notes, am I right in thinking that's 2/5 engaged? Having more cramps and BH too, all positive signs :)

Gerty1002 · 06/08/2013 15:55

oops typos... bloody phone!

PurpleDana · 06/08/2013 16:21

Shock gonnab that's awful! So insensitive. And u would think that she would respect your usual midwife a bit more than that!
I'm seeing another midwife next week as mine is away again, hope she doesn't pee all over my parade! That's if I make it that far, I'm sure I was having contractions last night, but then they just stopped & nothing so far today :-(
Yes gerty that's right, 3/5 palpable is equivalent to 2/5 engaged. :-)

Gonnabmummy · 06/08/2013 18:41

I know purple it's really wound me up! What's really bothering me is itpf I don't make it to 39 week, 2 weeks time the last thing you can see in my notes!
And I've checked 3 different lots of info including a booklet my midwife gave me and its 35. I suppose the hospital will no this.
It also winds me up because I'm only a size 14 not a truck! She even said she thinks its still 32 when I said 35 but she would have to check with hospital next time she's there!
If she wasn't sure she shouldn't of wrote it in my notes :( x

MrsPennyapple · 06/08/2013 21:59

Hello, thanks for the baby-inducing vibes everyone, but nothing doing. Got my normal mw appointment tomorrow, and an appointment to see the consultant next Tuesday if nothing's happened by then.

Congratulations Gary and Ruck!

I went out for a good walk this evening, it was not a long one but quite steep and physically tiring, but I did enjoy the exertion, was nice to get some decent exercise whilst my hips were behaving themselves.

Gonnab I'd be tempted to write on my own notes in that situation. Just so that it's there for all to see, that you have already been told water birth is fine, and that your BMI is acceptable. Size 14 is nothing, I don't know anything about water births and the guidelines but I would be really surprised if that was enough to rule it out completely.

40+1.... come on baby.

PurpleDana · 06/08/2013 22:07

gonnab just a thought, have u got your birth plan in your notes & does it say water birth in there? Me & my midwife both signed my birth plan, so if yours is the same then that should be your record of your wishes for a water birth & your midwife discussing it & agreeing it with u

LouiseD29 · 06/08/2013 23:04

Congrats RucknRoll! That's wonderful news.

gonnabamummy - yes, I have two EDDs - 10th August by scan, 16th by LMP. Here's hoping it's closer to 10th.

IJustWoreMyTrenchcoat · 06/08/2013 23:05

Out of interest has anybody not done a birth plan? I have firm ideas of what I want but haven't committed anything to paper yet. Is this really bad or do they just tend to be ignored anyway?

I am so lazy I am just thinking of getting the suggested ones from my hypnobirthing course and crossing out the things I'm not bothered about!
