Hello, just an update - I didn't have time for a birth plan after all! We had our baby boy on Thursday morning after labour kicked off early Wednesday morning. He is called Seamus and weighed 7 lb 6. We are still floating on cloud 9.

The pains started around half 8 and I wasn't expecting to go into labour so was convinced it was false labour. After trying to distract myself all day I finally couldn't cope anymore and went in to be checked just before 9pm. I was 8-9 cm dilated so was expecting a quick and easy birth from then on in.

I got to use the birthing pool which was wonderful but unfortunately my contractions ground to a halt in the early hours and despite hanging on for a while I eventually had to get out because baby was getting tired and they wanted to start me on a drip. I was on a time limit to get the baby out or else they were going to move to an instrumental delivery. He finally arrived at 7 in the morning.

I can't even remember in the end if I was given syntocin, I know the cannula was sited but can vaguely remember a conversation saying I couldn't have it as had been having contractions, then the Reg saying the Consultant had said yes.

Dazed and confused, but delighted.

Gonnabmummy · 09/08/2013 21:39

Oooo congratulations trenchcoat how far were you? X

ExtremeCouponQueen · 09/08/2013 22:06

Congrats ijust!

IJustWoreMyTrenchcoat · 09/08/2013 22:26

Thank you. I would have been 40 weeks on Monday, so 4 days early. X

LilPeasMama · 09/08/2013 22:48

Gonnab that thread has made me giggle all day, just what I needed!

IJustWore congratulations!!
I hope I can distract myself that much, that I get to 8-9cm.

Had quite a bit of pain/pressure this morning, so much so that it brought tears to my eyes.
Been to see the midwife today too, baby is still 3/5 palpable, with all the ball bouncing I would have thought baby would have moved down a bit more Hmm
Midwife has said they can do a sweep at 40weeks so I have booked for the 23rd....I will then be 40+3. Eeeekkk

PurpleDana · 09/08/2013 22:54

39wks today, even my midwife didn't expect me to get this far!
Got a family party tonight and a bit apprehensive cos its nearly 20miles from home. But we are gonna go cos so sick of putting our lives on hold in expectation.
Packing my bags in the car tho, just in case... Wink
Enjoy your hospital tour gerty

LouiseD29 · 10/08/2013 12:52

Ho hum, 40 weeks today and nothing happening. Oh baby, where are you?

Congrats to all the new arrivals! Hope to be joining you very soon.

MrsLianeB · 10/08/2013 14:31

Feeling rough today lots of aches and pains hoping its early signs but not sure 39 + 3 today and so ready for baby. Don't think I'm going to leave the house unless its for the hospital or midwife until this baby arrives!

Bakingabubba · 10/08/2013 15:13

I AM SO BORED!!!!

39+4

ExtremeCouponQueen · 10/08/2013 17:07

38+6.... Fed up of everyone telling I MUST be due now. Then when I say next week they say "well you're going to be early, you're SO big!"

First of all this is what being 9 MONTHS FRIGGIN pregnant looks like! Second of all, I was "this big" last time and you all said the same and dc was a week late and had to be induced.

Urgh, rant over.

FoofFighter · 10/08/2013 17:24

MrsB - I'm the same I don't like leaving the house now, today is the first day since this time last week I have left the house in fact as my OH was with me, other than going to the shop at the end of the road on Monday am, am too scared that my waters will go when I am on my own out somewhere and I'd be mortified and not know what to do!

made the most of it today, 4hrs pootling around town, hips are aching now but just wiped a splodge of green snotty stuff so maybe it's all been worthwhile ;) plus I got lunch out too Grin

extremecoupon good God yes! People are so annoying! I have apparently been SO big for 6 weeks now - somehow I have still managed to not go early - shocking! Keep your beaks out people! I don't pass comments on your size well not to your face anyway

Oh - and kindly stop sending me text messages asking if I've had the baby yet. It's not due till next week. And wil probably be late.

aargh!!

MrsPennyapple · 10/08/2013 18:08

Hi everyone! Congratulations to IJust and Ditsy

DS was born on Thursday morning, weighing 8lb 4oz. It was indeed another quick one, didn't even make it to the delivery room.

I'd had a sweep on Wednesday afternoon, and started with contractions around 9pm. They got stronger all evening but not regular, this carried on until around 2.30 when we set off for hospital as I wasn't dealing with the pain. Waters were still intact. We arrived at hospital 3.00am, I was 3cm dilated, so they put me in a side room, and gave me cocodamol. Still couldn't handle it as contractions were all in my back, so requested pethidine (even though I hadn't initially wanted it). Midwife examined me, my waters broke rather explosively, virtually drowned the poor woman, and DS was born at 5.06am. (20 min after I'd had the pethidine, which hadn't even taken effect yet.) Very little bleeding, no tearing whatsoever, all good!

JollyHappyGiant · 10/08/2013 19:22

CCongratulations to all the new babies!

37+2 here

Ready for baby. ELCS booked for 22nd so it'd probably be best if baby waits until then. Lots of BHs tonight though.

We are 30 miles from the hospital anyway. Not limiting my going out and about. Pretty much everywhere I go is nearer a hospital than my house anyway! I'm Just making sure my notes are with me. I figure they're the only necessary thing!

ExtremeCouponQueen · 10/08/2013 20:44

baking I hated the constant "any news yet?" Texts when pg with dc1, as if I'm going to keep the news to myself when it happened! One person texted me 4 times a day everyday from a week before I was due til 3 days overdue, until I politely told her to fuck off and I will tell her when it happened.

PurpleDana · 11/08/2013 00:25

Yay. Congratulations mrspenny

LouiseD29 · 11/08/2013 04:14

Congratulations pennyapple!

Wide awake here and bored waiting for baby. Can't lie down anymore tonight because hips are killing me but what am I supposed to do with myself at 4am?

Bakingabubba · 11/08/2013 06:10

FOUR times a day?!?!?!? That's ridiculous! Happy to say no one has reached that level of harrassment just yet...

ExtremeCouponQueen · 11/08/2013 10:43

How's everyone feeling today? My pelvis really hurts, I can feel it opening up (tmi) and fed up of shuffling about everywhere. Attempting to take my toddler swimming alone today, so that should be interesting!
