Ey oop August Duebies! Thanks for the new thread (and filling the old one so well!) Foof, although no idea what you mean about this being the thread we'll meet our babies on, we've only just got positive pregnancy tests?!

I slept in the bed last night, and somehow managed to end up at foot of the bed, kicking DH in the face....I think we're all safer if I'm back on the sofa tonight Blush

Trixie, nothing to suggest about hip, long baths & as much rest as you can get!

Slw, I do not envy you moving house next month!

waves, hope everything gets easier for you soon, at the very least hope the DC's are better asap.

Ruck, hope arm isn't too achy after jab..mine's next Friday, mmm medicinal chocolate.
I have skittles, they sort of look like pills, so they must be good for you!?

FoofFighter · 22/05/2013 19:28

Gary - well if we all talk lots more than the last thread then it'll probably be on the next thread, does that help any?? Wink

Hi, haven't been on here since, ooh, week 16! But lethargy means ie got a bit more time on my hands now.

Anyone anaemic on here? It showed up at my 28-week tests and ever since I've been totally wiped out, in a barely-making-home-on-the-bus way. Have to have a nap every day and feeling generally light-headed and breathless all the time. Anyone else?

FoofFighter · 22/05/2013 20:24

Have had anaemia before when not pg, wasn't pleasant, you have my sympathy. Are they treating it medically? I was given 200mg 3x a day although was advised to work up to that as can give stomach aches, and felt a huge amount better within 3 weeks.

Hi girls.
Hip pain here too. I'm waiting for physio.
I've had horrid pain while ironing. Like period pain but worse. Braxton hix I am assuming. I feel like I have AGES to go but I can still put socks and shoes on.

BabyHMummy · 22/05/2013 23:06

Whoop managed to shave my legs today...little things I know

Have started to prepare, have packed the changing bag (ocd sorry) but have started to wonder what I need to take in the way of.number of nappies etc.

RememberingMyPFEs · 23/05/2013 07:29

Very jealous of all the leg shaving and shoe tying - they are but distant memories now. I can only do my legs in the bath and its an epic effort even then Shock

Hey Foof, yep I'm on Ferrous Fumate, been on it for 5 days and still feel pooped but I guess I need to be patient! I keep eating iron-rich foods so I hope I don't overdose!

Also anyone measuring a bit big at their MW appointments?! I don't want to give birth to a giant!!

wavesandsmiles · 23/05/2013 09:36

I have got spatone - it is a liquid iron supplement. Avoids the constipation that can arise from the iron tablets!

I can still shave my legs Grin, but tend to squat down to pick things up from the floor instead of bending over. Baths are freaking me out because everytime I sit up or lay back I see what must be the baby's spine sticking right out of my tummy!!! The DCs think it is hilarious, but the past few days he has been doing washing machine type movements which is making me sicker than usual.

FoofFighter · 23/05/2013 10:19

Waves it turns my stomach if baby rolls over when I'm walking/standing up bleurgggghh!

briarrosy - hope they warned you about the dark green/black poop ;) try taking your tablets with orange juice as vitamin c helps it be absorbed better, there are some foods you shouldn't really eat within an hour or two of taking your iron, but tbh I found it too restrictive to stick to!

Last two nights I have pretty much slept! Shock I hardly dare type it as it will jinx it, but normally I take a couple hours to drop off, doze for 2 hours, be awake for a couple hours, then doze in a light sleep again for a couple hours. Last two nights have gotten to sleep no problems, only woken for umpteen loo trips but gone straight back to sleep Grin feel so much brighter.

Some on the FB group have been saying about restless legs and cramps - can I just say to get yourselves to Holland and Barrat and buy some magnesium (the ones I have contain calcium too) - been takign them a couple of weeks now and barely getting any symptoms - have always suffered with cramps and RLS especially since damaging my back and the difference is amazing! I also read that they can help with insomnia so maybe thats why I am starting to sleep better?

beckie90 · 23/05/2013 10:24

briarrosy I measured 2wks ahead at my last appointment, but I'm kinda expecting a biggish baby cause my last was 9ib, he measured spot on though. But saying that those measurments arnt exactly reliable anyway xx

Slw8000 · 23/05/2013 11:42

Hi
I think there will be a run on magnesium, hope holland and Barrett have good supply, I only am getting the occasional cramp, it's horrible and I really feel for those of you who are getting it every night.
I can still put my shoes on and shave my legs but I get really dizzy when I stand up, hoping for some warm weather then I can just wear flip flops the whole time.
Glad you have been getting better sleep foof, I had a terrible night last night despite my pillow mountain, not helped by ds awake from 4-5.30, when will he grow out of it? He is 18 mths now & I want some undisturbed nights before no 2 arrives.
Can I join the Facebook group please, what do I need to do?

RuckAndRoll · 23/05/2013 12:05

briarrosy measurements are not exactly reliable! Friday I was measured 2cm under (mw in traige), Saturday was measured spot on (mw and consultant on ward), Monday was measured 3cm over (mw app). I doubt my baby changed its size that much in 4 days!

Slw PM me with your name and a description of your photo, make sure your account is searchable, I'll find you and add you.

Briarrosy · 24/05/2013 11:47

Thanks for the reassurance ladies. I kinda want a chunky baby anyway, one of those robust good feeders with fat wrists grin, it's just that I don't want to have to push one out!

Hope you all have lovely sunny weekends!

muddybloodypuddles · 24/05/2013 11:49

Hello - haven't been on for ages..

ruck - I had my wc vaccine on Wed too and my arm still hurts! Still, as I said to DH prob hurts an awful lot less than actual whooping cough...

Trixie - I sleep on my back (but raised with loads of pillows) so my hips are fine. I do turn over in the night to my left side but once the hip pain comes I move back onto my back. MW said back is fine as long as you're not laid flat

Waves - hope the sickness bug has gone now - that's not what you need! Good luck bargain hunting Smile

All okay here apart from just generally feeling huge and cumbersome!

FoofFighter · 24/05/2013 12:40

I mostly prefer lying on my back too - well tbh it's the baby prefers it, it's mostly transverse still and hates me lying on my sides Hmm as long as you don't feel faint on your back then there's no problem, during later stages the weight of the uterus can compress one of your veins making you feel dizzy/faint, no danger to the baby cause you'd move :)

Waves - how are the DC?

GaryBuseysTeeth · 24/05/2013 13:17

So, pubic/cervix area pain.....I know it's normal, but doubled over & can't talk/breathe, is that still normal? I've googled (and scared myself) and it's either 'nothing to worry about' or 'call your MW/OBGYN now dammit!'.

Briar, a robust feeder would be easier to dress than a skinny beanpole Nightmare buying boys trousers for a skinny long boy, his big monkey feet didn't fit any of the sleepsuits he had..at least with an August baby we can leave this one in vests all the time.

Foof, hope the good sleep continues! Thanks for the magnesium recommendations, think I'll give it a go!

babyH, I think it's something crazy like 12 nappies/sticky tar poo a day for the first few days.
We took one of the smaller multipacks for DS (25pack) & I got through that in 30hrs at hospital, so I'd say take a 25pk with you & have one in the car just incase you're in for a long stay (odd that hospital shops don't sell baby stuff)!

Slw, my DS is 17months & has been sleeping through the night since about 6 months...what have you tried to get him sleeping through?
When's bedtime/last feed before bed?
And what time/how long are his daytime naps?

Hope everyone has a lovely, comfortable weekend, preferably with cake/meringue!

BabyHMummy · 24/05/2013 13:51

Cheers gary have 1 pack so will pick up another nearer the time.

Am off on hols tomorrow and can't wait to just relax for a few days

Money is shit, am down to ssp so less than £100 a week, with rent and bills am panicking.

FoofFighter · 24/05/2013 14:30

Gary, pain like that = call to MW.

babyH - have a look on moneysavingexpert.com - great budgeting tools on there. Will be sorting ours out this weekend.

RememberingMyPFEs · 24/05/2013 17:57

Gary - I've been having similar pain and spoke to day-unit earlier. They asked about fluid, regularity and I'd it coincided with BH. They've told me to watch the timings and to call immediately if they coincide with tightenings or if I lose any fluid.
I felt 100% better for talking to them, better safe than sorry, right

MrsPennyapple · 24/05/2013 21:31

Hi folks. I am worn out today, not sleepy tired, just physically. DD is 22mo and I am trying to get her walking more rather than being in the pushchair. She's doing really well, doesn't complain (so far), and has been brilliant about holding my hand (has reins on but I insist on hand holding too) but my god it is SOOOOOO SLOW! I walked with her down to the vets to pick up some worming tablets for the dogs, it would normally be less than 30 min there and back for me, but obviously considerably longer with DD. My hips are aching loads now, and I'm sure it's because I was walking so slowly, for so long.

I prefer to sleep on my side, but as I wake up in the mornings I quite often find myself flat on my back, and it's quite comfy! I wonder if I shouldn't lie like that? There's no dizziness or anything, and it gives some welcome relief to my hips if they are achy.

Briarrosy At my mw appointment 5 weeks ago I apparently measured slightly big, but then a week ago I was spot on.

Oh yes, and the first few days' nappies are horrendous. It's bad enough learning to change a nappy on a screaming newborn when you've never done it before, but they want you to just use water and cotton wool to clean this tar-like substance off, and it does NOTHING. It's like the poo is water-resistant! Top tip: If any of the hospital staff offer to change the baby's nappy, SAY YES PLEASE!

29+4 and expanding daily. Total weight gain is now 1st 11lb.

FoofFighter · 24/05/2013 21:44

Tell them to sod off with the cotton wool, it's useless, use wipes, it's your baby not theirs. Pop some vaseline in your bag too, smear it on liberally at each change and it'll help get that tar poop off

OP posts:
MrsPennyapple · 24/05/2013 23:59

Thanks Foof I'll bear that in mind about the vaseline. Water & cotton wool really is useless against the tar-poop isn't it? I was pretty much clueless about babies when I had DD, so I did as I was told. This time I hope I'll be a bit more capable :)

Gonnabmummy · 25/05/2013 00:31

Urgh this is my third time going to loo since 11:40 pm for big wee's too this needn't start now only 26+3! Hopefully that's it for the night now *crosses fingers (and legs)!
