staceym11 · 24/05/2006 09:16

oh and as for weird dreams, i dreamt about our wedding but dp drove me there in a limo and we were late coz dd wouldnt get dressed and they did it without us, how odd!!!

NatalieJane · 24/05/2006 09:17

Morning all :)

Is anyone else getting any pain in their pelvis? Those of you who have had babies before will know where I am on about, it is right at the bottom of my pelvic bone, but all around, you know where the baby passes through? It is hard to explain exactly where it is, but it is killing me, I could feel it a bit over the last few days, thought it was because I had slept funny or something, but have woken up this morning and can't walk straight, I am having to sort of swing my hips about to get anywhere, sure it looks very funny, but it bloody hurts!! It isn't anywhere near the baby so I am not worried as such, just wanted to know if anyone knows of anything I can do to stop it hurting?!!

Hope everyone is OK :o

mygirllolipop · 24/05/2006 09:21

Too much housework needed here too but can't muster energy!
Stacey my DD1 was the same when we moved into our own house, but it worked itself out in the end.

HopingCat · 24/05/2006 09:29

Hi,
Can't help you NJ, sorry. I've had pain at the back of my pelvis which midwife said was just muscles stretching, but it sounds like yours it worse. Is it your scan soon? You might be able to ask about it then.

I had 16 week check yesterday and all is fine. Hearing baby's heartbeat was great Smile and it took mw less than 1 second to find it. It was really strong and regular. I've still not felt baby move but at least I know everything is ok now. I asked about whether the weird dreams are normal and mw said a lot of people do get this, and from what people have said on here it seems quite common, so at least I know I am relatively normal (although I suppose this is a matter of opinion!)

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

MeAndMyBoy · 24/05/2006 09:41

Stacey nice to have you back congrats on your new home :)

HopingCat glad your 16week appointment went well, hearing the heartbeat is great isn't it. I see my midwife for the first time today :). Figured out I will probably see the midwife maybe 5 times this pg.

NJ sounds like SPD - lots on various threads about it as quite a few people suffer to various degress during pg, it's the ligaments and tendons softening and your pelvic bones moving. Go and see the doc or your M/W you can get various supports and physio to help if it gets any more serious.

NatalieJane · 24/05/2006 09:42

Yes it is more than everything stretching out, it is an ache rather than a quick pang IYKWIM? My scan is next week so will hopefully either be better by then or will find out what it is.

NatalieJane · 24/05/2006 09:45

MAMB, no way am I going to try and get hold of my midwife again, not after last time!! It isn't too bad, just uncomfortable, it's only bad when I am walking, can put up with it for now!! Good luck at the midwifes today :)

Sorry Stacey, congrats on the new house from me as well :o

saralou100 · 24/05/2006 09:58

morning all....

stacey, congrats on your new home, it's a wonderful feeling isn't it owning your own place!! i'm sure dd will get used to it in time!

nj - yesterday ihad a bit of a flea up my bum, major housework overload, which rather stupidly on my part involved moving sofa's to hoover under... anyway last night and today i am in serious pain, can't stand straight and keep getting pains around my pelvis aswell as the constant ache, i think i've done something to a ligament or something!! i'm walking like a 96 year old woman all bent over and can't staighten my legs for the pain... meandmyboy is right, their are supports to help the ligaments you'll just need your madwife to refer you to mat physio's... my sister had spd poor thing, it looked very uncomfortable!

MeAndMyBoy · 24/05/2006 09:58

Oh heavens of course sorry silly suggestion. Maybe worth a visit to the doc's though.

does this sound like what your feeling?

H x

saralou100 · 24/05/2006 10:02

nj, if your that against your madwife you can ask to see somebody else!!! i really did not like mine last time round and i put up with her but i really wish i hadn't by the end of it... their was no compassion.. not even friendly towards me... if i had a question she always assumed i should know the answer... was just mean!! she was even getting me to refer myself for things so she didn't have to!! i'm not sure how to go about this but their should be a team of community madwives, just ask to see another one perhaps... don't put up with bad care or it will never change!!!

NatalieJane · 24/05/2006 10:06

That sounds about right MAMB. And having read that I am now wondering if I had it ever so slightly in my first pregnancy, I could never put my knickers/trousers on with out sitting down to do it, because I couldn't stand on one leg, I thought it was just a normal pregnancy thing at the time and haven't thought about it as being actually something 'wrong'. Like I said I wait and see if I have just pulled something as SaraLou suggested or if it gets any worse I will eee my GP, but if it just stays the same I will wait till next week, I am having my bloods done by a midwife at the hospital at the same time as my scan so she should know what to do.

Thanks for the info though :)

And SaraJane, take it easy for the next few days, don't push yourself too much!

Delia · 24/05/2006 10:59

Hi NJ

i know how you feel, i have been getting pains for the last 5 weeks and have now been signed off work as i can't sit for more than 15 mins and can't walk properley. Am waiting for phisio to call me with an appointment.

Just don't overdo it, i kept ignoring it which is apparently why i'am now in this state! It will all be worth it when i finally get the baby though!, will let you know how i get on at physio.... got to go and lie down now!

MeAndMyBoy · 24/05/2006 14:10

Hi just got back from my madwives appointment and she was a madwife - mad as a hatter but lovely too. she's pg 26 weeks and the same size as me 10 weeks less than her!!!!

Bit cheesed off to be honest just been told that I have to be on a drip during my labour because of previous pph and will have to have syntocin after the birth to prevent pph this time - bang goes no intervention :(.

NatalieJane · 24/05/2006 16:26

Oh no Delia, maybe we can waddle around in pain together?!

MAMB, it is a shame you have had your hopes dashed. The main thing is though that you and the baby will be fine, well OK, as fine as any woman is after giving birth!! I can imagine you are dissapointed though. At least you have a while to get your head around it all, and hopefully everything except what you mention will be with no other interventions. Why don't you plan something nice to do over the weekend that will cheer you up a bit?

staceym11 · 24/05/2006 17:12

hi everyone, thanks for the lovely messages, shes just having to get used to not being centre of attention constantly which is a hard lesson!!

iv had some pain after moving boxes so it may be a strain etc nj, but if it really bad id go docs.

to all those on their 2nd + when is the next m/w appointment, havnt got mine till after my 20 week scan!!

NatalieJane · 24/05/2006 17:15

Stacey I have my scan and bloods next week (I will be 14+5 by my dates then), then I see the midwife at 17 weeks mainly because we hadn't decided if we were going to go ahead with the triple test or not, so she has booked me in then just incase we decide we do want to, as that is the lastest it can be done.

spinach · 24/05/2006 18:01

stacey, you need to see your mw at 16 weeks if you want the triple test/. I'm seeing mw every 6-8 weeks i think, so not that often. Have another scan app tomorrow to check up on baby, bleeding stopped a week ago so i'm sure that measns all is well. can't wait to have another peek though.

Mummy2Toby · 24/05/2006 18:20

Hiya everyone,
Stacey congrats on your new home GrinI have to book to see the midwife at 24 weeks and then I think it is every 4 weeks from then. HTH

HopingCat · 25/05/2006 08:48

My mw appointments are every 4 weeks. The 16 wk was for tests if I wanted them or just a check up. Then scan is 20 wk and I've already been booked in to see mw at 24 weeks. After 32 weeks I have to go every 2 weeks, then eventually every week I think.

mygirllolipop · 25/05/2006 08:52

I'm seeing my MW 2moro (15+6 according to scan) but we're not opting for the triple test. I'm being seen a little more often than low risk women tho.
Hope everyone is well today, I'm not bad.

MommyUpNorth · 25/05/2006 10:49

MeandMyBoy did you lose a lot of blood last time? I had a pph after my 3rd and went onto an IV as I started to pass out from extremely low blood pressure, but they said that there wasn't any reason why it happened and they weren't concerned about it for this birth. In fact they asked me if I was going to have another homebirth (my 2nd was born at home) so I'm hoping for minimal intervention!
Sara

fatbetty · 25/05/2006 11:39

Everyone keeps mentioning this triple test and I don't remember if I've ever had one. Do they offer it when you go in for your check up with the midwife or do you have to schedule it? I've probably had it done in the past but it doesn't sound familiar.

mygirllolipop · 25/05/2006 13:55

You have to get a scan and bloods done FB AFAIK, I've never been offered it before but new NHS trust offered it me but we turned it down. It's for Down's and Spina Bifida.

HopingCat · 25/05/2006 13:58

I was sent an appointment for the triple test, although I don't know if it was called the triple test on the letter. I was just told I could turn up if I wanted it but it was up to me.

HopingCat · 25/05/2006 15:08

I've just been to something called 'Fit for Labour' at the maternity unit at the hospital. It's in addition to parentcraft sessions, which are at the end of pregnancy for me. It was really good. A physiotherapist ran the session and she was telling us how to try and avoid the problems of pregnancy, like leg cramps, swollen ankles, sleeping problems, varicose veins and constipation. She also taught us tummy exercises and pelvic floor exercises. If anyone else gets a chance to do something like this I would recommend it. It was only 30mins but it will make me think about what I'm doing, particularly my posture.
