hey ladies,

how are you all, i feel awful. keep getting these headaches practically all day every day, worse if i bend down or sudden movements. Does anyone else have this? My blood pressure is okay, I am anemic but taking supplements.

Its really getting me down, i dont want to take paracetamol every bloomin day! Even that doesnt last long enough Sad

oh by the way, i look about 6/7 months, i wasnt this big with my daughter! I think its whereby i didnt lose all my weight before getting pregnant again!

Anyone else bigger than 'should' be? Please let there be someone Grin

fatbetty.... triple test is just a simple blood test, gives you an odds ratio for having a downs baby or baby with spina bifida.... loads of info on the web. Its done between 16-20 weeks, ideally at 16 weeks. You midwife should have pffered it to you, its a standard test

Hi Tam

I'm bigger than 'should be' - I've just got to 12 weeks and already I'm the same size as a girl who's a month ahead.

However - twins run in my family ... and my partner comes from a family of big babies. I'm not going to know for ages though as I only get one scan.

Good luck all

amyjade · 25/05/2006 20:50

I'm 13 weeks and look about 16 weeks!!
It's probably due to the fact that it's my third baby and according to my midwife having two cesarians causes you uteras to be more bulky.
Dd1 was 8lb 13 and 57cm long, Dd2 was 8lb 8 at 37 weeks!! this one is bound to be another big baby :)

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 26/05/2006 07:58

Just recalculated - apparently I've just got to 14 weeks - but I am getting very big. According to NHS direct site - my MS should be wearing off by now - I thought so too but it keeps returning in waves. Yesterday I didn't stop feeling sick until 4pm!

By the way - did anyone see that programme about designer babywear? I was disgusted when that spokesperson described a baby as a fashion accessory! I certainly wouldn't pay £45 for a babygro and why should a baby care if it has a designer bottle?. Any thoughts?

Morning, busy, busy today as leaving 2nite will be back tue am. Going out at the wkend and wearing normal going out clothes but methinks it's maternity wear all the way after that.

HopingCat · 26/05/2006 09:12

I saw the program about the designer baby stuff. I can't believe a babygro can cost £45, and the bib was about £17. Bibs are for catching food and sick aren't they?! At least the couple on the program didn't buy the £700 pram once they found out the Mothercare one was better.

NatalieJane · 26/05/2006 09:21

Morning all :)

Have a look at \link{http://www.harrods.co.uk\Harrods} for some price shockers!! And (needless to say) it doesn't stop at baby clothes!!

Everything fine here, am starting to get a bit nervous about the scan, but got a nice long weekend ahead to wait yet!!

Oh well, have a nice weekend everyone :o

Tinasan · 26/05/2006 10:25

Tamular - I have been having really awful headaches just as you described, since about 10 weeks. They are wearing off a bit now (I'm 17 1/2 weeks) so hopefully they will for you too. Oh - and I'm blooming huge too, it's my first so I don't have the excuse of previous pregnancies!

Morning,

Just done a quick catch up.

Spinach I'm glad the bleeding has stopped and it looks like things have settled down.

MommyUpNorth - I lost quite a bit of blood and had a blood transfusion post birth cause I was VERY aneamic - taking iron supps already to make sure that my iron levels are very good this time.
I haven't had an explination as to why I bled they have just decided that I need to be on a drip for the labour so that once I've given birth they can stop the bleeding with drugs, if I bleed again - but they aren't going to wait and see I think they'll just go ahead with the drip 'just in case'. It is a different hospital.

I'm sorry ladies but I need a rant.

Went to see a consultant yesterday - had my 16 week check at midwives day before all fine and she's quite happy with the way things are progressing. Consultant comes in and declares your DS was underweight when born therefore you need 4 extra scans to keep a close eye on this baby. DS is 3 and at no point during the last 3 years has anyone even suggested that there may have been the slightest problem with his birth weight - he was born at 39+5 weeks and I went into labour myself, he was 7lb 5oz. I am so so Angry I'm only 5"4 I weight 8 stone what the hell do they want me to do - produce an elephant? I'm at a different hospital to the last one I was at and it's a all singing and dancing new one that I have been pursuaded by friends and family to use cause it's closer than the orginal one. They have a very high rate of intervention and it just feels like they are looking for reasons to butt in and intervene between this and the drugs in my labour I am very wound up. Next will be the 'oh you can't b/feed your child they are underweight' talk.

Sorry but I need to off load hope you don't mind.

fatbetty · 26/05/2006 10:53

I'm so tired this morning. I have spent the entire morning dozing on the couch while the kids watch tv. Feel terrible for doing that but ds2 has been up the last couple of nights and lack of sleep is catching up with me. Not to mention that I'm starting to wake up to go wee all the time during the night!

I can't even justify spending loads of money on kids clothes. They are only in them for such a short amount of time. Saw a book about kids nursery rhymes yesterday that were adapted for the designer mum and it was called "This little piggie went to Prada". Have a friend who would get that if she ever has children.

NatalieJane · 26/05/2006 10:55

MAMB, that doesn't sound at all right. I always thought a baby was only thought to be underweight if it was less than 5lb? I would say if you don't want the scans then don't have them, as long as you are happy things are fine, then there is no need to anyway.

Is it too late to change back to your old hospital? In fact never mind is it too late, if you are not happy with yours then insist to go back to the old one. Or at least ask to see someone from the old hospital to confirm what you have been told is true, is it possible that the consultant had mis-read or read the the wrong file? 7lb 5 is a nice healthy weight, I have never heard of anyone thinking otherwise.

Good luck with it, and feel free to rant, that is what we are all here for!!

staceym11 · 26/05/2006 13:31

MAMB my dd was born at 38 +5 and was 6lb 14, iv never been told shes underweight, shes always been under the average line but shes in perfect proprtion etc and i aint worried, id tell them
where to stuff the extra scans etc if you dont want them. the m/w can tell if the baby is growing well enough by the size of your fundus (sp???) i wouldnt worry too much, as you're small you arent gunna have a big baby!

mygirllolipop · 26/05/2006 13:41

MAMB that sounds totally bonkers, 7lb 7oz is the average weight of a baby so two ounces under the average is not small by any means. This coupled with the drugs in labour business if u aren't happy then move your care you have the right to. It's better than being fed up and stressed all pg believe me.

MommyUpNorth · 26/05/2006 19:21

MAMB I agree with everyone else that it sounds a bit crazy. My DD was 6lbs 2oz, and one of my DS was 6lbs 9oz, and they've never mentioned about them being underweight.

I've had my 2nd scan today to check on this thing that they've seen and the current thinking is a placental infarction and it looks significant, but we haven't been told much as the consultant will be getting other opinions. So for me it's going to be blood tests every week and a scan every 3 weeks until they say otherwise. :(

cantdecide · 26/05/2006 21:38

MAMB... what rubbish! you're baby was a fine weight! go for one extra scan, find out everything is fine then politely refuse the rest if you dont want them.

mummyhill · 27/05/2006 00:50

MAMB - Tell them to go away. My DD was 7lb 10oz at birth and she was born at 41 weeks. 7lb 5oz is a perfectly respectable weight.

saralou100 · 27/05/2006 07:35

mamb - some dr's talk utter crap... go get your second opinion!! speak tour madwife and tell her what your unhappy about, if she can give you the reasons why this needs to happen and what their concerned about then i think it's fair enough, but don't belive the words of one person... remember your madwife is your advocate, she should have your best interests at heart whereas dr's dont see people, they just treat illness' and problems iyswim!!

saralou100 · 27/05/2006 07:41

morning everybody else!! how are we all...

anyone got cravings yet.. i'm obsessed with tomato's... tomato soup, tomato pasta, tomato pizza, tin tomato's & toast... and not forgetting the actual tomato (particularly cherry ones).. mmmmmmmm yummy!!! brekfast lunch and tea!!! don't want to eat anything else!!

spinach · 27/05/2006 13:05

okay, so we all say we look huge already... how much weight are you putting on? I'm nearly 17 weeks and have only put on 3lb but look enormous.... how does that work?

OP posts:
tamula · 27/05/2006 18:30

Hi Gyals,

Gosh how much have i put on? I never look atthe scales and tell the midwife to not repeat it out loud before she writes it in her log.

I haventthe foggiest how much 'actual' weight i've put on and i wouldnt want to guess Grin ignorance is bliss.

I had a craving for sweets during the first 4 months o f my first pregnancy and i have that again now, I wouldnt mind but i already have bleeding gums and your teeth are not at their best during pregnancy but does that deter me? hmmmm, nope!

Hope your all doing ok, i still have the bloomin headaches Sad and now have tonsillitis, Yay!

mower · 27/05/2006 19:37

Hi everyone, havent been on for ages, been so busy this pregnancy is flying by am 17 weeks tomorrow!

How much movement is everyone feeling? Am paranoid as went to midwife last week and couldn't hear heartbeat very stongly.

spinach · 27/05/2006 19:47

tam, poor you! i have sweets craving too especially pick and mix!

Mower, try not to worry... I'm almost 17 weeks, and for a while i felt movement everyday... if i looked for it... but last couple of weeks not everyday and i know baby is fine cos i had a scan last week and the baby moves loads... have had scans at 12, 14,15 and 16 weeks and its always movong loads...but i don't feel it all. Think it depends where the placenta is, can make movements harder to detect and a heartbeat harder to find.

Hard not to worry though isnt it? Have you had a scan recently?

OP posts:
mower · 27/05/2006 20:06

Hi Spinach, why have you had to have so many scans, is all ok?

No haven't had scan since 9 weeks, have got a scan when I am 20 weeks, so three weeks on monday. Just wish I could enjoy this pregnancy, always feels like a waiting game where I have to wait weeks to find out if all ok. Don't think I felt like this with ds.

MeAndMyBoy · 27/05/2006 20:24

Mower I am 17 weeks and at my Madwives appointment she found the heartbeat but it was very muffled because she was having to go through my pelvis bones to get it. The Tinker likes to hide down low.

Take care and hope you can relax and enjoy your pg soon.
