Mummytotoby - are you itching a lot ? Could it be OC?

MommyUpNorth · 19/05/2006 15:38

Afternoon all! :) Just been to give all my blood away to my lovely midwife. They're looking for high levels of the pregnancy hormones plus all the other normal tests that they do. So now I've got to wait until Tues/Weds to phone for the results. The midwife today was so lovely and reassuring even though they couldn't say what exactly was wrong. I think she's really helped to put my mind at rest. And the bonus was that I did get to hear the hearbeat even though she said it still might be a wee bit early (I'm just over 13 weeks now).

Hope everyone is doing ok. I still don't have any symptoms but I feel more worried than ever before. The midwife said to just enjoy the no sickness as it's a real luxury, but it's easier said than done!

harrogatemum · 19/05/2006 15:55

Hi ladies - just a quick drop in - I am frantically packing to go away on hols tomorrow. 13 weeks today so will be 15.5 when I get back, think I am one of the latest ones on here! I am sure some of you will be approaching 20 week scans when I get back!

Is anyone else feeling sicker than they did in the early days - its so annoying - I am feeling much worse the last fortnight - grrrrrr!

Debbsy · 19/05/2006 16:38

spinach · 19/05/2006 17:54

Hi all.... everyone sounds well, and having good news to report. I had another scan this week, cos of the bleeding. baby fine, having another scan next week. I'm 15 weeks and have felt baby since about 11 weeks... can feel it every day, only when 'm sitting still or laying down though... its a very active baby... all three scans have been hilarious watching the sonographer try and get the babe on screen....

Am so tempted to find out the sex this time around... anyone going to?

OP posts:
harrogatemum · 19/05/2006 18:27

absolutely I am going to find out the sex!! I did wiht my twin boys and I will again at 20 weeks. NOt a big fan of surprises!!

velcrobott · 19/05/2006 18:40

I don't want to know the sex (but as you know Spinach I am not having a scan at all anyway).... I have a child of each sex so I am happy either way :-)

spinach · 19/05/2006 18:41

i am happy either way, i always wanted a dd, and i have one so not at all bothered if this one is a boy or girl, just healthy will do me fine. My dd really wants to know, and just wondered if i found out it would be better for her to know and prepare herself. so tempted, but didnt find out last time and loved the surprise.

Mummyup north - lucky you - My symptons are showing no sign of abating

Debbsy - I'm due 27th Nov as well

Everyone else - we've decided not to ask about the sex - although by the time I have my one and only scan it'll probably be obvious

saralou100 · 20/05/2006 07:50

morning all... hope were doing well

lots of good news on scans coming through so congrats to everyone whose seen their wiggly bubba's!! i have mine tuesday not sure at the moment wether to be scared or excited... am sure i can feel this baby moving too, like everyone says only at certain times when i'm lying down, but i'm sure it is!!

i would really like a pink one this time, don't want a life dominated by dirt, football and monsters!!! so i;m trying to think pink thoughts!! would love to know, but stupid hospital won't tell, so i'm gonna get a colleague to guess by listening to the heartbeat.. she predicted ds at 12 weeks and was right!! (very experienced madwife)

had a busy couple of days.. energy levels are returning, although i abandoned all housework for so long now it's a mammoth task.. wish i was rich and could afford a cleaner.. dp is so useless with anything domestic i'm giving up the will to nag!! friends coming to stay for a couple of days so a couple of days of fun should cure any stresses!

have a fab weekend everyone!!

mummyhill · 20/05/2006 10:32

Sorry to crash popped in from Septembers post natal thread to see if Delia was around.

Velcrobot - With my second I felt movement earlier than with the first but not all day everyday iyswim. Hope this helps.

amyjade · 20/05/2006 19:43

Hi Everyone

Had my 12 week scan yesterday it was a bit nurve racking as i'd had another few days of bleeding but luckily everything looks great with the baby.
It was amazing to see how developed it is at only 12 weeks!!

Feeling a bit better than recent weeks but still exhausted running around after a 11 month old!!

It would be nice to have a little boy this time as i have my 2 beautiful girls but i'm not too worried i know how very precious children are no matter what the sex.

Take care everyone x

spinach · 20/05/2006 19:45

have been told that my triple test result may coome back as high risk because i have had bleeding... anyone know why?

good news on scan amyjade...

pinkmagic1 · 20/05/2006 22:12

I am going to ask the sex although I am convinced its a girl this time. I knew 99% it was a boy last time and I wasn't wrong. Anyone else have a strong feeling about the sex?

Debbsy · 21/05/2006 10:57

Dont know Spinach sorry, just wanted to offer my support xx

mygirllolipop · 21/05/2006 21:04

Spinach - I don't see how the bleeding should affect the result, hope you find some answers.
We are def finding out the sex, with 3 girls it's a practicality to know. I have everything for baby anyway what with DD only being 13 months. Have chosen pushchair (which wouldn't matter depending on sex of baby) but need to know if we should buy bunk beds or two seperate beds (one now for DD3 and one later for a boy). Also it would mean blue paint and clothes (none of which we have, having 3 girls!). I dunno if it's just my NHS trust but at our 20wk scan we are offered a 'sexing' scan (for want of a better word) after 23wks which we'd have to pay £50 for? ANyone else found this. I would be rather cross if it was just my trust that's doing this.
Anyhoo hope everyone is well.

spinach · 22/05/2006 14:48

i dont understand it either, the consultant said the result could be affeted though, i should have asked why really!

OP posts:
NatalieJane · 22/05/2006 17:33

Hello :D Hope everyone had a good weekend :)

I am not sure about the test either Spinach, did the consultant not give you anything with his number on, or could you get hold of him another way, maybe, if all else fails by ringing the hospital reception and asking to speak with him?

I know this sounds ridiculous, but I would like to know at the 20 week scan if it is a girl, but I am not so bothered about having to know if it is a boy! I know, I know, it doesn't work like that but I think it is because if we are having a girl then I would like the time to get used to the idea after only knowing boy babies (I have a DS, and all of my sisters who have already kids are all boys) but if it is a boy I would like to experience the whole giving birth and then discovering after nine months of wait that you have a son!!

I have just realised how crazy this pregnancy has made me!!! Did any of that last paragraph make any sence to anyone?!!

Hope everyone is OK :D

Debbsy · 22/05/2006 17:35

nj lol pg brain me thinks :)

NatalieJane · 22/05/2006 17:44

LOL DH gave me a funny look when I tried to explain it to him as well, I know what I'm on about!! And after all of that I didn't really answer the initial question though, yes we will be finding out the sex!

Jen1209 · 22/05/2006 17:56

Hi all,

Spinach - I would ring to see if you can find out what the Dr meant - it sounds v odd to me. Hope you get on ok and get some answers...

We won't be finding out the sex. My mother and DP's step mother are convinced it is a girl anyway and I really don't mind! Have spent most of the weekend in Mothercare, playing with the Loola pram and looking at the cot I want. I went with DP on Saturday and then with my Mum on Sunday so she could see as she has offered to buy the cot. Mothercare are really expensive though!

My big bundle of maternity clothes from Ebay arrived today - I am sooooo much more comfortable and actually have things to wear for work, not just our Installer t-shirts!

Sorry to ramble on, must remember to catch up more often!

saralou100 · 22/05/2006 18:28

hi everybody!!

nj - that made sense to me, i completely understand, everyone i know has boys too so i'm familiar with their work!! but you can't really say to the sonographer i only want to know if it's a girl cause if she doesn't tell you you'll know :o ... i've been looking into private sexing scan today but no-one mentions prices, does anyone have any idea on how much it would cost? mygirl lollypop, was it you who's hospital offers you the opportunity to pay? i think this is a crap idea, my hospital has a policy of not telling anyone which i think is wrong, but others will tell you for free, darn postcode lottery!!

spinach - ring your consultant's secretary, hospital switch board can put you through and ask her about how you can speak to someone... or ring your madwife and ask her, their's no point in worrying yourself when you can ask someone!!!

friend came at the weekend with her 2 kiddies, her ds was the same age as my ds will be when her dd was born, she's left me feeling a bit, well, horrified really!! her ds is doing the terrible 2's thing and was horrible!!! he kept hitting and pushing my ds and wouldn't let him play with any of his own toys.. as i say iwas horrified, kept a grin on my face saying it didn't matter it was just his age blah blah blah but i could not wait for them to leave... it's got me abit panicked about how i'm gonna cope, will ds get jealous how will he cope blah blah blah!!!! any mums of more than one who can reassure me!! ds will be 21 months in nov.

xx

fatbetty · 22/05/2006 18:33

NJ, I completely understand your crazy thinking. I am in the same boat. I already have two lovely ds, and would love to have a dd. We didn't find out the sex with ds1 or ds2, and feel like I should carry on with tradition (?)and not find out the sex this time either. But the temptation is really great. While most of our baby clothes are unisex, it would be so nice to go out and buy loads of pink and girlie things. Of course not finding out means that we wouldn't go into debt! lol.

Hope the rest of you are doing well. Feeling a bit more energetic today. Actually went to the grocery store and cooked a meal tonight!! I think dh will pass out as he walks through the door when he gets home.

fatbetty · 22/05/2006 18:40

Saralou, don't get too stressed about it!! I remember feeling the same way watching friends with two. My two were 18 months apart and were a handful at times. A friend suggested having a special box with toys that came out on special occasions when I needed to attend to the younger one. That seemed to help and just lots of praise for them helping you or for them being so well behaved.

velcrobott · 22/05/2006 21:26

Did anyone notice that Desparatehousewife (who is not on our list for some reason) but was on our previous thread has lost her baby at 16 weeks?
