Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MadameJ · 05/02/2013 20:59

MrsBri I am team yellow as well and your scan picture looks exactly like mine!!

MadameJ · 05/02/2013 21:01

On the sibling thing, DD (just turned 2) is telling everyone that it's a "sister" despite us not knowing the sex of the baby.

When she saw the scan picture we said that was her brother/sister and she said "silly mummy, it's a sausage""

MrsBri · 05/02/2013 21:05

Awww, Madame, that is so cute / funny of your daughter! :-)

Do you have any thoughts about what you're having?

MadameJ · 05/02/2013 21:08

I was adament it was another girl (I have no preference) but this pregnancy has being very different in every way so I am starting to lean towards a boy, what about you, any clue?

AmIGoingMad · 05/02/2013 21:10

Laughing at your dd and sausage madamej!Grin
Congratulations mrsbri! Glad everything went well! Yes- I am very impatient right now!
Sam- good luck with test!

Suzy- thank goodness our DS is too young for that st the moment- it's something I'll have to build up to!

Withalittlesparkle · 05/02/2013 22:49

bri after having such a rubbish day at work it's super nice to be able to see the smallest glint at the end of the tunnel!!

Loving the sausage story!!

learnermummy · 05/02/2013 22:58

On the books for children front I read the usborne first experiences 'the new baby' book with ds2 tonight and he really enjoyed it. It shows mummy going to hospital, being tired when she comes home and does show breast feeding.

AlohaMama · 05/02/2013 23:12

learner does it also show mummy having a meltdown when she can't get baby to sleep, and having to spend half her day changing nappies??

MrsBri · 06/02/2013 06:29

Sparkle, that's one of the only things keeping me going at the moment, I can tell you! :-/

Withalittlesparkle · 06/02/2013 07:24

bri glad I'm not the only one!! I just can't wait to have lie ins and afternoon naps, obviously making the most of it before baby arrives!!

Starting to feel him now btw, no lt those massive prominent kicks but real flutters and pops that def not wind or normal stomach movements!!

MrsBri · 06/02/2013 07:44

God no. I work with some of the laziest and bitchy people on this earth, so I'm on a minute-by-minute countdown! :-) Almost 7 months away is what I really, really need.

Baby B has been a bit quiet since yesterday...think he's in shock from the prodding and squashing, poor thing. I felt battered after, so he must have too :-/ Feels like he's gone further back. Hiding from a further assault!

Glad you can feel baby now, sparkle. Isn't it great?!

Withalittlesparkle · 06/02/2013 08:09

Bri I felt like that after my scan, baby was tucked down behind a hip so to get him moved she rolled me on my side and started smacking me with the scanner, felt a bit like trying to get ketchup out of a glass bottle!!!!

redwellybluewelly · 06/02/2013 09:18

suzy I think its great your dd is interested enough to take notes - maybe a budding obstetrician Smile

MrsBri I think you'll have to stay team yellow - I knew at the 12 week scan what we were having, and the 20 week comfirmed I was right (and for anyone thinking i'm giving it away if you look at nub photos there are certain distinguishing features for both girl and for boy Grin )

I have my first day off work due to pregnancy today (at least i think its pg related). Woke up feeling fine, tired as I woke up cold during the night a few times but ok. Had breakfast and packed bags, got us dressed etc, got halfway to nursery and saw that I had big red patches all over my face, also started to feel really rubbish. Not queasy or faint, just exhausted. Dropped DC1 at nursery, let them know I was working at home and I'm not at home with a cup of tea and scoffed one of DH's snikers bars. Feeling better. Face still blotchy though. Went out for sushi last night and I have a horrid suspicion I might be intolerant to soya, happened when I went there earlier in the pg as well.

Sarah2506 · 06/02/2013 11:22

I am soooo sick of work right now. I want to work until 34/35 weeks but already my work is drying up as people obviously think, 'well there's no point giving that case to Sarah as she won't be around to deal with it and see if through'. This happened before when I was on secondment. I ended up coming back earlier as I just ran out of things to do. There really is only so much time you can spend on the internet at work, or having tea with colleagues. Eventually you just start to go MAD!! But i don't want to finish early unless I want to, not because there is nothing left for me to do here!

AlohaMama · 06/02/2013 17:31

sarah I think I have the opposite problem. So much to do now to get the work done that is due when I'm away. Mind you only taking 3 months off means you don't get maternity cover. Surely though the time you can spend having tea/cakes, on mnet and shopping for baby things is unlimited?!

I'm happy as friends have officially decided I finally look pregnant. I think in the last week my belly has popped out and I don't just look a little wide around the middle. Though now comes that awkward time - too small for maternity clothes, and the skinny jeans are starting to get a bit tight to do up. oh and the chafing bras from my belly pushing up. I'd forgotten about that joy!

AmIGoingMad · 06/02/2013 17:36

That sounds frustrating Sarah! It must be driving you mad! They seem to be in denial that I'm pregnant at the moment and one of my colleagues is still working at nearly 38 weeks and they've only just worked out a plan for covering her when she finishes end of this wk. in some ways I'd like the kid gloves treatment but can imagine that it would get boring after a while!

Thanks for the book suggestion learner Smile

Hope you feel better soon redwelly .

Littlemissexpecting · 06/02/2013 18:47

Sarah I wish my work would dry up. I'm going to be busier than ever over the next couple of months, no chance of taking it easy that's for sure!!
I told my boss today about my next midwife appt (in 4 weeks time) and he tutted as its at 3.30 not first thing or end of day. I try my best but that was best midwife could do on that date. I'm doing my best to work round work, antenatal classes in evening etc so I'm going to stop stressing and think stuff you. My next appt will be at lunch time and I'll make sure I take an extra long lunch!!
Sorry, rant over. I think I'm beginning to feel movement but not really sure! It feels very odd what ever it is!!

dreamydays · 06/02/2013 19:50

sarah that sounds really annoying and possibly discriminatory, can you speak to your line manager?

Congrats on all the scans, heart beats etc - lovely reading all the positive news!

suzy v funny about SEX. Really have no idea how I'll tackle that stuff in future! DD, just turning 4, is v interested in how the baby's going to come out - good question!!

Sarah2506 · 06/02/2013 22:22

Yeah it does feel discriminatory but their view would likely be that I should be grateful I don't have any pressure. They would also say that they are treating me no differently to anyone else who has given three months notice. I always thought I'd sail through work with no issues but I have so far been forced away from my usual desk because I'm not in the office as much, and been turned down for a transfer for dubious reasons when I'm sure it's just because I won't be around for a year. It sucks. And I'm a lawyer and a civil servant, so you would think I'd be a hard target to shaft but its impossible to prove what the true reasons were and honestly I have no energy to fight. Chuck in a forced move next month which I could do without and I'm just sick of it all. Next month the whole office moves so that isn't personal but then six weeks later ill disappear with no certainty as to what I will come back to as my job will def not exist in a years time. It's stress at a time I don't need it!

AlohaMama · 07/02/2013 04:24

That does sound crappy. The trouble is there are always subtle ways to discriminate and it is always difficult to prove the motive for certain decisions. I was effectively told I didn't get put forward for promotion before as I was on mat leave, but I think laws here are different. Hopefully by the time you go back things at least will have settled down. Make sure you've got someone keeping you updated when you're off so you can fight your corner if necessary. And meanwhile, hope you can try and relax and not get too stressed. I would say have a big glass of red, but I guess that's not the best advice right now!

MrsBri · 07/02/2013 07:03

It does sound discriminatory, Sarah. The thing is, whether private practice or public sector, those running legal services are seemingly the worst for employment rights issues. Just hold on to the fact your maternity pay is far superior to most people's, even though it is shitty in the meantime.

Sarah2506 · 07/02/2013 08:37

I'm now remembering why I logged on yesterday before I started ranting - weight gain!!! So my scales suggest I've gained a good 8 or so kilos already. This seems like a massive amount. I like to think its all bump but a fair amount is on my boobs, thighs and arse. When I got pregnant I was super fit and active so I like to think half of it is more to do with my big decline in activity. I also ate really badly. These days I eat all my fruit and veg AND the junk I was eating before! I don't really care what I look like but don't want to end up the size of a cow! I've gained 3kgs in the last 4 weeks, that can't be good! What has everyone else gained?

SunnyL · 07/02/2013 09:06

Hi Sarah

I was feeling very smug cos I didn't change weight at all during trimester 1. I've gone up since Christmas though - 5 lbs so far (not sure what that is in kgs). Still no 'bump' though. As my sister put it I just look like I've eaten too many mince pies at Christmas as I'm fat all over my torso. I'm eating practically nothing healthy at the moment - unless you count chocolate as a fruit cos technically some of it once grew on a tree.

My bright point this morning was opening a random pocket on my laptop bag and finding a whole uneaten Yorkie (the chocolate bar not the dog). Sigh - if only every day could be like this!

Olimoss · 07/02/2013 09:39

Morning all.

Re: weight, I didn't put on a single pound till week 21, now at 23.5 weeks I've put on about 6!! Bt scary. But after that initial rush it seems to be slowing down again. Who knows. I'm basically trying not to worry aBout it and just mostly keeping active at gym and swimming, eating what isn't but not massive portions, etc.

We went to a v posh restaurant on Tues night and I ate all three courses and had some prosecco (bloody delicious) and bread and felt like I was going to explode. Still, had to be done. Been taking it easy since then.

Congrats to all on scan news, can't be too many left now....

I'm tempted to seriously consider a 30-week private scan, just to keep things ticking over. Seems so long to wait! Anyone else?

Olimoss · 07/02/2013 09:39

God, bloody iPad typos - sorry!
