Still no movements for me either I'm 22 weeks on Tuesday but not panicking yet although might be a different story in a few days as I seem to be up down and all over the place Grin

pinkapples · 03/02/2013 13:47

Oh and on the dog front we have 2 and my in laws have 5 and my mum has 1 and all of them come and find me whereas before they weren't that fussed (only our 2 out of the 8 were lap dogs before) now all 8 fight for a lap Grin

arlandria666 · 03/02/2013 13:54

On my twenty week scan they made sure i could see the screen and talked us through everything pointing so much out we were in there over half hour she showed us his face and nose on top of everything else it was wonderful and she was so friendly think it must depend on the hospital good luck those he still have scans to come x x i still can't believe i won't see him again til we have him considering a 4d scan at 30 weeks x x

Q.Question - what changing bags are you thinking of getting? Particularly interested in answers from 2nd timers. I didn;t have a changing bag as such last time, I had a lovely animal bag bought for e, and I had an IKEA washable changing mat (again a gift) and we just never seemed to find something which really worked, esp as we wore DD in a sling a lot. I lurve the Pacapods, I'm not really a fasionista but I do what a smidge more style this time plus I'll need space for DD's things (spare clothes, food & meds). So unsure - DH has said he will buy me one as a gift if I can stay within a reasonable budget.

Buggy wise, we're almost set on exchanging the iCandy for a double Mountain Buggy, or indeed a Mountain Buggy + Buggy Board. We'll see how DC1 is walking when this one arrives.

Changing bag wise, I've still got this one from DS, it was my 3rd changing bag so still in good nick. Will hopefully be enough for this one. However, this time round, I'm not going to use it as my bag as well, sticking a cross body handbag on me as so many times I left the changing bag with my purse, keys, phone etc hanging on the buggy while I carried DS into a baby group was scary! At least that way you've always got your valuables with you, not on the buggy...

OP posts:
Withalittlesparkle · 03/02/2013 16:55

I've bought a kipling one, cus it was in the sale! It matches my small cross body bag, as I was thinking the same about keeping valuables separately but thought I'd quite like to look coordinated (sad I know)

I went on a bit of a spree yesterday and have bought some stuff for baby as I really hadn't done anything!! It's all being stored at my mums house though (and on a slightly more morbid note, she paid for everything on her card, in case anything happens then she can sort it out rather than me dealing with it iykwim)

Anyone else looked at sterilisers? We've gone with a tommee tippee electric one (£39 starter kit in kiddicare) wanted a microwave one but our microwave is too dinky!!!

Withalittlesparkle · 03/02/2013 16:56

Oh and redwelly I bought my friend from work a pacapod as a maternity present

Withalittlesparkle · 03/02/2013 16:57

Whoops pressed too soon!!

She loves it, although its a little bulky

forgetmenots · 03/02/2013 18:07

DH bought me an Orla Kiely one as part of my Christmas, I love it, there's a wee boutique near us that stock the previous seasons bags you can't buy new anywhere else. It has lots of compartments and a changing mat! Given how absolutely frumpy I feel at the moment it's nice to have a nice bag (not to everyone's taste I know, but I love them).

forgetmenots · 03/02/2013 18:08

Love the pacapods too sparkle :)

cyclecamper · 03/02/2013 18:12

I'm not thinking about changing mats and baby stuff yet. I'm probably going to wait till the last minute to see what I get given, or manage to cadge before hitting ebay and freecycle. Smile

I've been on ebay today for some maternity dresses and a swimming costume.

learnermummy · 03/02/2013 18:36

My lovely hubby bought me a pacapod bag for my birthday with absolutely no prodding Smile
Been to kiddicare today to check out buggies and quite like the look of the out n about nipper, just need to measure up for boot space! So hard to make decisions on things when the other 2 ds's are running about the place!
Saw a babybond scan place in kiddicare and am v tempted to have another look!

AmIGoingMad · 03/02/2013 19:01

I'm the one with the scan on 11th- the wait is driving me insane and I've quickly gone from undecided on finding out team blue or pink to not being able to wait a second longer! Smile
With change bags- last time I thought I was ordering the lovely big icandy bag but when it arrived turned out I'd ordered the little one with no compartments! I made do last time but am desperate to get a decent bag this time around! Still undecided which tho and am waiting til scan before getting anything as it really depends on boy or girl as to how much we need to spend on essentials. That'll help decide which one i go for I think as the budget will make my decision for me!
On a different point- are any of you really happy with your bras at the moment- hope you don't mind me asking?! I'm a 36E when not pregnant and last time loved the bravado bras as they have the stretchy band. This time, whilst I'm still loving stretchy band, I'm not as keen on the shape, general square appearance they seem to give me now which I'm sure they didn't last time! Anyone else had a bit more success than me in finding the dream maternity bra?!

MrsBri · 03/02/2013 19:07

AmI, I have some bras from Mothercare which are really comfy and supportive. Friends have said they wouldn't know they aren't underwired I have such good shape / support. They were a pack of 2, one black, one white. I'm rather impressed!

I'm tempted to find out the sex, but want to hold firm (though if we find out by accident I won't mind!).

I hope time goes faster after the scan...want to get to having baby! Thank god I have a house move to distract me a tiny bit :-)

peardrop2 · 03/02/2013 19:24

Wish I could say time flys after the 20 week scan but that is not the case for me Hmm

I've had a good experience nursing bra shopping in M&S. I recommend make an evening appt to avoid crowds! They also have good advice on their website.

On another note TKMAX is selling dream genie pillow half price for £24.99. Looking forward to trying it out tonight Smile Sadly couldn't find any Aden + Anais muslins though!

forgetmenots · 03/02/2013 19:32

Ooh peardrop I saw that, was in TKMaxx yesterday - only a few weeks after I bought mine full price! A good buy, and you will sleep like a queen! I managed to get an A+A muslin grobag for £10 yesterday, and a lovely little grey blanket. There wasn't much 'unisex' stuff this time round, to be honest!

learnermummy · 03/02/2013 19:37

The Anita underwired maternity/nursing bra is definitely the dream maternity bra - have worn through each pregnancy. A bit pricey but really well worth it. Can buy at figleaves and worth waiting for a 15/20% off day.

peardrop2 · 03/02/2013 20:45

forgetme FX I sleep like the queen Smile I have v high expectations now!! I did see the A+A growbag but they only had size 12m+ so I put it down again...the design looked lovely though!

Mutley77 · 03/02/2013 20:59

Havent been here for ages... Just wanted to update on my scan reading all the other scan posts... All seemed well although baby's kidneys are large and i need to be rescanned at 34 wks. Anyone with any experience of this? Have some friends who have had same and by 34 wks kidneys at normal size again so fingers crossed that will be same for me. Dont dare google it but my dh has and says it doesnt look like worst case scenario is too bad. Still a little anxious though, ive been extremely lucky to have two previously who are/were in perfect health.

AmIGoingMad · 03/02/2013 21:29

Mutley try not to worry- easier said than done in pregnancy at the best of times I know. I'm sure everything will be fine and its good that they're scanning you again in a few weeks just to check it all out. Keep thinking of getting to see your beautiful baby again before birth. Maybe try posting on the pregnancy board too as hopefully someone with more experience will see it? Worth a try.

Thanks for bra recommendations- I'll have a look at those now!

Mrsbri- when's your moving date? Can't be far away now!

MrsBri · 03/02/2013 21:38

Two weeks yesterday, AmI...can't wait. DH is currently packing the seemingly 4 million glasses we have! Trying to get it done gradually so I don't get too tired.

A girl at work was told her baby may have kidney issues. He didn't and was just fine at birth. Try not to worry, even though I know it isn't that easy. xx

peardrop2 · 03/02/2013 22:26

I was just having a little panic attack...how likely is it that the sonographers could get the gender mixed up? Now that I know I'm in team blue I'm not sure how I would cope if I was told they got it wrong Shock Obviously I would be over the moon with team pink too but what a shock it would be after giving birth!!

learnermummy · 03/02/2013 23:15

I'm the same peardrop, but he said 'its a girl' not 'I think it's a girl,... I'm not going to go to town on girls things just in case!

Looking back through the thread I'd seen people mention aden & anais. Had not heard of this brand before so just googled - I want it all!! Almost wish I hadn't seen it now the things are sooo lovely. The big muslins would be great for swaddling, esp in summer. DS1 had to be swaddled for months and months whereas DS2 was never swaddled so might wait and see. Hoping this one is more like DS2 in temperament!

ChicaT · 03/02/2013 23:38

Hello girls and bumps! I haven't been on here for a while...nooooo time at all these days. Lovely to read the good scan news, and those baby lists are AWESOME I'll be delving back into them tomorrow and making lists. Thank you experienced mummies! I had the 20 week scan the other day, and everything is great...it's been confirmed that we're having a boy (they gave us an 80% chance last time), and he's healthy with a strong heart beat, good liver and heart function...he's also a GIANT baby (my husband's genes to thank for that) and is at the top end of the weight scale, at 380g at 20 weeks on the nose. Not too big though, all within normal ranges. And although I wasn't sure about having 4D, I highly recommend it - we've now seen our baby's face and he's very cute!

AlohaMama · 03/02/2013 23:54

mutley maybe kidneys are difficult to measure? my sister was told the kidneys of her dd were too big (or something) and they may have to do an operation as soon as she was born. they were fine. I would have thought the margin of error measuring such small things must be quite high, and difficult to get accurate.

redwelly you read my mind. Have just spent about 3 days looking at changing bags online and I don't like any of them, or worry they won't work. With 2 under 3s (hopefully only 1 of which will be in nappies) and using cloth nappies, I'm worried about having enough space. I have decided the only thing I like is a vintage leather flight bag with lots of pockets, that isn't a changing bag but people use as such. I have existing change mats, wipes holders etc I can use. It's not cheap though and I have to get it shipped out here...Otherwise I think the Skip Hop dash looks quite big.
