HavingALittleFaithBaby · 02/12/2012 06:21

Eurgh, off to work looking like the girl on the wowcher advert - y'know, the one they suggest needs fake tan?! Wish me luck, I've got a 12 hour shift to get through! Confused

ILoveNoodles · 02/12/2012 07:06

Hi, can I join. Will be 21 wks on tues am due the 16th April. Have had my quads come back as 1 in 9270, will 30 in feb are these numbers ok?
Had 20 wk scan last tues I went with my mother in law as DP couldn't make it so got her to write it down and place it in an envelope, and we opened it when he got in from work we are having a girl! My four yr old son wanted a sister so he is happy!
Was a but shocked convinced it was a boy,but grateful everything seems ok. Wanted to say congrats to everyone here, and give my thoughts and wishes to everyone who has had bad news. X

ILoveNoodles · 02/12/2012 07:08

I meant I will be 30 in feb!

steph2412 · 02/12/2012 07:50

Welcome Ilovenoodles we have the same due date i know trishstar does aswel and a couple of other ladies i think x

kellestar · 02/12/2012 08:15

Hello Ilovenoodles welcome to the April mums to be. I am 31 and had a similar number to your risk.

Trishstar as to change bags, i have a paisley babymel change bag, £60 in MC but bought bnwt on eBay for £15 and its brill, it's a hobo bag with lots of pockets and has velcro mini straps to attach the bag to buggy easily. It easily holds DD's stuff and my bits too. Before that I had the boots one, but it was narrow and couldn't contain my stuff too so had a small handbag in addition. Nosied in MC, price hunted online. It started out with a red and brown pattern, which has faded slightly, but I like the more muted tones now.

My cold has boomeranged back and feel vile again. DD decided 6am was a good time to get up and she came in with us, quite funny as DH was trying his hardest to ignore her but she kept snuggling up to him and being cute.

Off to see the reindeer parade with DD, DNeice and DNephew in Wells today, fancying a hog roast for lunch.

Trishstar · 02/12/2012 08:16

Welcome ILoveNoodles, steph is right we have the same due date, I'm having a boy.

What's the quad test?

Have you thought of names yet and is it your first baby?

Xxx

Trishstar · 02/12/2012 08:18

Thanks kellestar babymel was one of the brands I was looking at actually but I didn't know anyone who actually had one. I will have a look!

Mama1980 · 02/12/2012 08:52

Morning all just marking my place I'll update later.

Trishstar · 02/12/2012 08:56

Hi Mama hope you're both doing well xx

Missmuffet28 · 02/12/2012 09:02

Welcome noodles

I'm still waiting for a due date buddy to join I think I'm the only one without one :(

All this talk of changing bags is making my fingers itch I know what I'm gonna spend Sunday afternoon doing! Searching for the perfect one o those!! Iv got a feeling that dp isn't going to Agree to anything remotely girly though, this bag is just as much for me than it is for babe right?! Means I get final say Grin

SneezySnatcher · 02/12/2012 09:03

Hello! I've started looking at changing bags. I just had a cheap one with DD but this time, as I'll have 2 DCs, I'm considering a Pacapod. They have different 'pods' including an insulated feeding pod, which will be good for DD's snacks. It needs to be big enough to fit baby stuff, plus a change of clothes/colouring things/toys for DD.

SneezySnatcher · 02/12/2012 09:04

Pacapod

EmpressMatilda · 02/12/2012 09:11

Good morning all. Marking my spot on the thread.

I was prompted yesterday by some local ads to start looking into cots, Moses baskets and travel systems. Realised we simply can't afford to buy new but the reviews and prices are all over the place. I am now starting to wonder whether eerie even need a travel system. We have a car seat for car travel and carrying, getting a sling or carrier to attach him to me when I go to the shops and will get a cot for sleeping in. I don't see why we need anything else. And surely if we get a cot Moses basket is unnecessary?!

On another note I've decided to get a car otherwise I'll be housebound in my maternity leave. I mean, I walk A LOT and intend to continue but for day trips and getting up north to my parents I can't rely on DH's fancy car which will be at work with him. I passed my test 10 years ago and haven't driven since. Yikes! I think some refresher lessons are in order.

Sorry for the essay.

22+something.

EmpressMatilda · 02/12/2012 09:12

Eerie?! Naughty spell check.

Crazytictac · 02/12/2012 09:33

Hi ladies and welcome to all the newbies!

Have been thinking about changing bags so will have a look at the pacapod, thanks sneezy. I do have a pink lining one which I love but it has the yummy mummy slogan on which I felt a bit self conscious about and would turn the bag so the slogan wasn't on show.

lutrinae · 02/12/2012 09:34

Hi all - Sorry I haven't posted for ages. Have been busy moving house (to Walthamstow) and getting a new kitten! (she's called Mouse and is trying to help me type this). In fact I think there was so much going on I think I forgot I was pregnant for a couple of hours.
I'm finding it really frustrating not being able to lift stuff though, anyone else getting that? We are also now 15 minutes walk from the nearest station (neither of us drive) instead of 5 and I'm finding my current walking pace not up to scratch!

My 20 scan went great, everything looked normal and the sonographer even said it had 'great vessels' whatever that's supposed to mean Smile
She didn't even offer to tell us the sex but as we didn't want to know, that was ok. It was being pretty awkward about getting into position though.

I don't want to give away names but mine are all pretty traditional. The complication is that we want a double surname AND it's a family tradition to have 2 middle names so it will have a LOT of names! I also do family history as a pastime so there are lots to mine from that.

21+6

Hiya all, just checking in. -20C here just now and mountains of snow. Was supposed to go over to my daughter's today but husband says no. The roads haven't been cleared yet and although we have winter tyres, he still thinks it's unsafe. Guess I'll have to cook my own dinner then :(

FlaminNoraImPregnantPanda · 02/12/2012 09:53

ILoveNoodles I was told that average risk for my age (40) is 1:96, which I believe is much higher than for your age. They also said that I would only be offered further testing if the results were 1:200 or less. If that's for high risk, then as a lower risk you must be fine with your results.

JessieEssex · 02/12/2012 09:53

Hi all
I had a Stortsak Jess bag with DD and it was great - will be dusting it down and using it again. They're not that cheap but I got it as a present when I left my last job (along with the baby monitor that we still use!)
Welcome to all the new joiners - I still haven't got a due date buddy, here or in the March thread (due 31st)
23+0 (woo-hoo!)

Jsa1980 · 02/12/2012 09:58

Hi miss muffed when are you due? I'm due on 6th.

Hohhot changing bags, I was just going to get the free one from boots parenting club but there are so many lovely ones out there I might splash out as we'll be using it for years so it's an investment right?

Trishstar · 02/12/2012 10:17

Thanks for the suggestions on bags ladies!!! Lovely scan news too!!

I'm working today so can't look at bags yet!!!!

Can you please post links if you find anything fab? Thanks! x

angeltattoo · 02/12/2012 11:00

Morning ladies, just marking place.

Went to NCT sale yesterday, bought a tiny pram suit!

I bought a big bag for a hospital bag from Primarni for £10, i may just use this as a changing bag depending in how it fits with my pram. I change things like that quite often Blush

Have picked car seat too, am asking mum for a comprehensive list of what she's bough at christmas (she has been going crazy since I told her at 6 weeks, despite me asking her not to buy anything until after the 20 week scan!) then really getting organised after christmas.

She's been trying to tell me I don't need to buy anything, any ideas how i impress on her my need to prepare for my own baby?!
Sad

FlaminNoraImPregnantPanda · 02/12/2012 11:09

We researched and picked out a car seat too. Thankfully we didn't buy it as I found out last week that our council loans out new ones for £35 deposit, which you can then swap when you need the next one up. Fantastic.

Missmuffet28 · 02/12/2012 12:00

Aww jessie you'll just have to be my no due date buddy instead I'm not until the 14th but that doesn't matter!

angel just tell your mum that you would love to get some bits for yourself as coo-ing over it all in the shops is half of the fun and she wouldn't want you to miss out on that would she! Even if she insists on paying for it! Can't say I'd be upset at that prospect Grin

flamin what a fab scheme that is!!! That'll save you a few hundred for sure! More to spend on a bag eh!!

Bags!! I couldn't resist looking! I'm living the look of pink lining ones all cute and chic on the outside then bam shocking pink inside just my cup of tea! They are really expensive tho even on ebay at the mo, so prob out of my league unless I ask Santa maybe or my birthday is in January hehe! Someone mention they had one of these already? How did you find the practicality of it?

lutrinae great vessels has to be a compliment right!!!

mama as always looking forward to your update

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their Sunday!
