Congrats on the boys tattooed. A very good friend's son had talipes and he had to wear special boots at night for a few years and is absolutely fine now.
Had quite a bit of snow here this morning and quite skiddy taking DD to the childminder's.
I haven't bought a thing for the baby yet, but we have lots of stuff left over from DD and have been offered most other things on loan by friends!
Think baby has hiccups at the moment - so cute.

Good luck for scans today!

I was going to go Christmas shopping, but the snow has convinced me otherwise... I think Ebay & Amazon will have to do.

Good luck mama

tattooed How exciting! Do they know whether they are identical or not? I have no idea about these things!

Jessie Wow. How can you tell it's hiccups? Mine is being very active right now I can feel a general bubbling with occasional proper thumps that I can see on the outside. But no way of picking out exactly what's going on.

I am reassured by all the movement though. Spent two days in bed with a nasty cold. I kept having these horrible coughing fits that seemed to shake my whole tummy. But baby has carried on regardless. I guess he's well protected in there.

birdbrain17 · 05/12/2012 13:01

omg there's snow in north west london! I woke up this morning with such a shock, it's freezing!!!found my old boots from last year but I wore them so much the grip has totally gone, oh well good excuse for a shopping trip I suppose.
I haven't actually bought anything yet, but my mil (who just for the record of the earlier conversation is amazing and I actually get on better with her then my mother!!!) has told us she's picked up a couple of neutral baby grows and some vests so I guess I'll just get a couple more as everyone told me they grow out of the first stage very quickly so I suppose we'll buy pink or blue for the next size up.

Is anyone else feeling a bit achy like they've overworked their muscles or someone's beat them up?! I feel so sore today but I really didn't do anything too strenuous yesterday....oh well roll on winter hols 2 and a half weeks to go I can't wait!!!!!!

mama good luck, thinking of you with your scan and sending positive thoughts your way. hope to hear good news soon and that you're feeling much better today than yesterday

On the "buying" front, I'm beginning to think my poor baby is going to feel a bit like a charity case. I've been lucky enough to be offered most "big" things such as cot, high chair, travel cot, moses basket, car seat from friends who have children or grandchildren that have outgrown them, then this week I picked up a travel system from freegle. Its a Jane slalom pro, so supposedly brilliant for going on uneven ground and came with the carrycot and car seat attachments which are virtually brand new. It does need a bit of work, (brakes and tyres which DP is fixing/replacing as they are just like his precious bike bits), but structurally is really sound. The main pushchair section and hood is really faded though, so I was contemplating dyeing it, then I thought, does this make me look like I don't value my baby, wandering round with a botched together second hand system and that maybe this is a step too far? Xmas Confused I love little bean already, but I'm conscious that if i can save the £500 on this then I should do really... anyone else getting mostly secondhand?

MyLittleAprilSunshine · 05/12/2012 13:08

I too haven't bought anything. I don't want to jinx it, worried something will happen to her if I start buying. I reckon I will though in January. She'll be around 28 weeks and if she decides to come out, at least she has a fighting chance then.

PIL for all their rudeness are sorting out a moses basket and a few other things. Sometimes I wonder if they are trying to over compensate by spending rather than being nice? Or maybe I'm really judgmental, I don't mean to be.

My Mum wants to buy a nice buggy/pushchair for her and perhaps a carseat. I'll probably get most of the little clothes for her though. But they are so small!

JessieEssex · 05/12/2012 13:17

empress I'm pretty sure it's hiccups as they're little twitches at very regular intervals (every couple of seconds) and in exactly the same place. A very different feeling to the big thumps and somersaults that I get the rest of the time! When I was pregnant with DD I remember the same. Apparently they all do it at some point - it strengthens certain muscles. Love it.
jj go for the second hand, we nearly bankrupted ourselves buying a super-whizzy travel system for DD!

EmpressMatilda · 05/12/2012 13:19

jj Sounds very sensible to me! We are very into second hand as well and my DH is also into fixing things. We will probably be doing very similar to you. I see our thrift as a manifestation of love! There will be far more important things to spend money on when child is older. I'm sure they care a lot more about being able to afford school trips and having some help with uni fees than what their pushchair looked like. That's my take on it anyway and thankfully DH is in strong agreement.
Anyone else's bump growth stalled? Mine grew so much over weeks 18-20 but I haven't noticed much change since then. I know all is well by the amount of kicking going on in there but it's just curious. Is there a pattern to it and if so when should I expect the next spurt?

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 05/12/2012 13:19

I've been buying! Little bits since about 16 weeks. I'm not superstitious and once we knew there was definitely a baby in there we thought we might as well. que sera, sera etc. Jjj most of our stuff will be on loan from my sister who has a DS who is 3. She isn't sure if she'll have any more but can't TTC until after our baby is born anyway (has to get some meds out of her system first) so she said we can borrow anything we need! Moses basket, washable nappies, travel cot, clothes, angel care monitor. Saving us an absolute fortune. Only big thing we'll get new is the travel system which my Dad is buying for us. I honestly don't think kids notice that stuff is second hand! :)

EmpressMatilda · 05/12/2012 13:24

Jessie That's amazing I will scrutinize bump a bit more now. A lot of the movements are in the same place but not sure about regular.

lili86 · 05/12/2012 13:28

jj, secondhand is nothing to feel bad about! Most of our stuff for this baby is 3rd hand as we got given alot from DS. With reguards to your pram, i wouldnt worry. They end up covered in sick, snot and food anyway and most people buy a stroller after 6months or so! No point wasting money if you dont have it spare!

Glad all the scans are going well! Got ours on Monday!eek!

Cant remember who was asking about braxton hicks, but ive defo been getting them for a few weeks!(dc2 and 19wks!)

usernamegoeshere · 05/12/2012 13:30

JJ most of my big things will be presents from family. I know what you mean about baby feeling like a charity case but I think close family enjoy spending time choosing for the lil one, especially for first grandchild so I'm just gratefully accepting all offers and happy that baby will have so many people who obviously love her already!

enjay0811 · 05/12/2012 13:59

bext ikwym bout Xmas works party outfit, can't find anythin tht doesn't look very underdressed like skinny jeans (having trouble finding over bump ones in stock so will chk out gap whoeva suggested tht thanks!) Or looks like a tent ie maternity dresses. Feelin very fat and frumpy atm Sad

jjmy dd2 has lived in hand me downs from dd1 and sum stuff will get passed onto bump too like travel system, cot etc. Already had other things given to us 2nd hand too like bouncy chair and playmat. It wld b lovely if this one is a boy to give me a chance to buy some sparkly new clothes! Don't fork out loads if u don't have to I think! Only thing we've bought so far is a microwave steriliser incase I don't get on with bf.

toobreathless you're doin great job with the stats!

Good luck to all those still waitin for scans, lovely to hear about them.

21+4 I think? Seriously suffering with baby brain lately! [Blush]

Nuttyfilly · 05/12/2012 14:09

Hi all! Had my 20 week scan today and im pleased to say im having a boy!! My son is over the moon as is dp! Hope everyone is pk

Nuttyfilly · 05/12/2012 14:10

I mean hope everyone is ok!

photochick · 05/12/2012 14:12

enjay0811 I have bought myself one nice 'party' outfit from ASOS - I will wear it to all the various events in the next few weeks. You have my sympathy as I am waiting for my roundness to look less like a big stomach and more like a proper bump and I am definitely mourning the loss of my waist!!

QueenofNightmares · 05/12/2012 14:59

Well I've kind of been hiding in despair and anxiety since my last post worrying about the scan. We've had it today everything looks good I cried when I got to see the picture as the lovely woman we had was happily pointing out facial features seemed happy to pose! Despite crossed legs and turning its back on the midwife we are having a little boy! Grin

I feel like I can finally relax and start buying things for him including the teeny weeny little baby shoes I brought today Blush Total waste of time I know but I did cry over them so DH felt we had to buy them. I can feel the kicks more now too and I got a very strong one an hour before the scan which made me relax as if he was letting me know everything was fine

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 05/12/2012 17:16

Crikey Queen, I'm glad its all good now Xmas Smile. Enjoy relaxing and shopping!

How mega cheesy is this - I was shopping for quality Christmas cards on funky pigeon and I found this card in fact they have a variety of cards from "the bump". I know its mega cheesy but I couldn't resist and have ordered DH one! Xmas Grin

usernamegoeshere · 05/12/2012 17:28

omg that is awesome. Its cheesy but I do kind of want to get one now, I mean if you can't be cheesy at Christmas when can you be....

Mama how was your scan?

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 05/12/2012 17:43

After so long of TTC, when I saw it, I decided it just had to be done! Figured this is the first Christmas I can do it!

mama hope you're ok.

birdbrain17 · 05/12/2012 17:57

wishfulthinking1 · 05/12/2012 20:24

mama - any news? X

ILoveNoodles · 06/12/2012 02:57

Hey every one hope you are all taking care in this weather.
I must admit I nearly slipped over and actually felt unbalanced and its only only gonna get worse. So I an off today to get a pair of boots with some proper grip.

You do know with all the talk about second hand I've been thinking and most of this baby's things will be second hand.
The only things new will be practical ie, matresses, bottles, steriliser, etc, when I actually get round to buying anything!
Also hoping mamas scan went well.

ILoveNoodles · 06/12/2012 02:59

*am
*mattresses

Tut! Tut! As my mum would say!
