Hi Everyone - haven't updated in a while but glad to see everyone is doing well on the whole.

Jacqueline am Shock at your doctor, but thank goodness you have something now. Hope you feel better soon.

Username I read your post then had to lift my top up and check my belly-button out. I hadn't noticed it had shrunk!! I wonder how many of us did that when they read your post Grin

I had a very sad weekend. I had to have my beloved pusscat put to sleep on Saturday. We'd been treating her for cystitis, but it got very bad and her kidneys were failing. I am bereft. The house seems so quiet without her and I keep thinking I hear her, or look round to where she likes to sit and just see an empty space. Am very, very sad and it's just as well I have a day off work as I still keep crying. I miss her so much. DH also cried and is trying to keep strong for me Sad Sad

In terms of prams, I wasn't really bothered by the name, but wanted something versatile, long-lasting, easy to use as I'm clumsy big basket and good value. I opted for the Mothercare Movix system and got everything I needed, including Group 0+1 car seat, for £425. The carry cot is also suitable for overnight use and you can choose a variety of colours and options. Pack includes changing bag, footmuff, hood, etc etc. I'd recommend it - probably not the most trendy, but great value for what you get I think. It's currently residing at my sister-in-laws as DH is superstitious (17 years together and I find this out!)

Interesting to hear how some of you have got on at NCT sales too. We went to one last week and were really disappointed. We're members, were first in the queue, which theoretically should have meant we got best pickings. However, we were let in after queuing 30mins (15 mins past when we should have been let in) and had watched the volunteers leave the hall first with bagfuls and bagfuls of stuff for themselves. It was like a swarm of locusts; when we got in, there wasn't much left that wasn't grubby or dog-eared. Plus, some of the advertised stalls that I had specifically wanted to see hadn't turned up. Not sure that we'll bother again tbh.

In terms of names, DH doesn't like anything. Everything I suggest is 'too gay,' or 'too Irish' (I'm half Irish!) etc. Grrrr. All he comes up with his the name of his footie team or 'Killer!' Men!

Started to feel definite movements this week too. Glad to know baby's OK in there and it's not just wind!!

Blimey, I seem to have written War & Peace...

22+3

Mama1980 · 03/12/2012 15:32

Hi everyone, hope you're all well Smile
magictorch I'm so so sorry to hear about your cat. I have a dog and cat who are both my shadows normally. Glad your dh is being supportive. How are you doing? Thinking of you.

kellestar that is so so sweet, I would've cried too!

jj247 I hope your scan goes well.

jacqueline what a nightmare! I'm so glad you have some pain relief now. Are you feeling any better?

havingalittlefaithbaby I hope you feel better/ get everything sorted soon.

giddy I hope your scan goes well

missmufett your mil sounds a nightmare, sending sympathy!

toobreathless yes bless her dd did take the choice of name very seriously. There were some less great options too but love the ones she chose. She is desperate to go baby shopping but I've said no until babe s here safe. Plus I know from experience he won't be wearing cute baby clothes for a while anyway.

Sorry if I missed anyone out I wrote a list to try to answer everyone. All is much the same here I had look drawn earlier for them to check the bleeding from the placenta. I'm so tired I can hardly even hold a conversation, I hate it. But I'm 23 weeks today. I have a scan on Wednesday then they'll give me the first lot of steroids for baby's lungs on Friday all being well. To be honest I just want to sit and sob I want my children, I want to go home. I want my baby born In April. But I also know I can do this i ave to believe it will be ok. Sorry for the self indulgent rant there but if I write it here I can smile in real life. Thanks

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 03/12/2012 15:57

Bless you Mama! Vent away. It's such a tough circumstance for you. Try to hang on to the positives like being 23 weeks! It's ok to cry if you need to :)

Damn you lot, I have checked out my belly button and it is smaller! It's not as deep! Shock

Curled up under a blanket on the sofa watching Dawson's Creek :)

bext · 03/12/2012 16:22

Oh mama it's not self indulgent at all. You're so strong most of the time but you can't hold it all together all of the time. We can all be your ears for the rants so you can be strong in RL Smile

And magictorch so sorry for you too. I'm full of cold so am in bed today and my two cats haven't left my side. I would be bereft if they weren't here.

Has anyone else seriously fallen out of love with their work since getting pregnant? I was starting to get to the stage where I was thinking about new possible career change anyway but since getting pregnant I really have lost my interest. I'm finding it so hard to motivate myself. I've always been really career oriented so it's an odd feeling. Is it just me?

And yes re belly buttons - how weird!! I've got mine pierced and just looked and realised the holes have moved to both be completely outside of my belly button now. (tmi sorry!). Freaky!

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 03/12/2012 16:27

bext work is just something I do to earn money at times. I changed roles back to my old job. I go in, get it done, come home and collapse. I don't hate it most days but I don't love it. Before I fell pregnant, I was desparately looking for another promotion opportunity b jobs have come up and I haven't even applied! I'm just happy to earn a living and come home and wait to have the baby :)

Missmuffet28 · 03/12/2012 16:31

Lol!!! I actually checked mine out this morning too I don't think mines changed much i don't know though I didn't really take much notice before how did u test deepness did you stick your finger in it tehee!Grin I too took my piercing out prob only 4 weeks ago or so it looks funny I don't like it :( let's hope I can get back into shape after April and have it redone yeah right haven't got back into shape after having the last one 10years ago!

Mama you are officially allowed to self rant as much as you like we all sat at home can only imagine what a hard time your having I only wish I could help you other than send my wishes on mn!

Sorry to everyone else feeling poopy jaqueline and having and anyone else I forgot! And sorry about your puddy tat magic I know what it's like one of mine went missing not so long back I cried for weeks I still don't know what happened to him and the one before that got poisoned at 9 months and didnt make it my poor little bert! I still have my ernie tho and my pooch but doesn't make it any less sad!

Thanks for those who sent sympathy re: the mil she really is hard work and funnily enough I spoke to her this afternoon on the phone for 20mins and she actually for the first time this pregnancy asked how I was and how it was going! That's a small clue to how funny she is for you!!

Missmuffet28 · 03/12/2012 16:45

Oh my! Just also read Kate and prince William are expecting, she has been taken to hospital with ACUTE morning sickness and is expected to stay there a few days!! Lol royal toilet not good enough I guess! I can hear the Pregnant women all over the world chanting suck it up princess Grin
I'm just being mean I obviously don't know whole story! It just tickled me a bit

milktraylady · 03/12/2012 17:36

Hi joining the new thread.
Missmuffet I will see you a MIL and raise you an even more annoying mother! Mine refuses to know if it's a boy or girl (it's a girl) because she wants the surprise at the birth. Totally disregarding what me & my husband want. Grr.
Then puts the phone down because I didn't do what she said- v v controlling.

Mama I'm so glad you are still ok, really hoping you are staying pregnant for as long as possible.

I just read in Preg forum Kate is in hospital with Hyperemesis. Maybe this will mean more people hear about the condition- ie it's NOT just ms. I had it for 10 weeks and I'm a wreck now.

Saw a lovely doctor about all my anxieties today, will be getting some CBT treatment. Thankgoodness, as I am still worrying about everything!!

Giddypants · 03/12/2012 18:17

Hello everyone, mama I admire your patience, I couldn't manage more than 2 nights in hospital before self discharging and going home! You have done so well, if letting off steam here helps, then rant away, we can't do much else to help.

jhyde hope you manage to get on top of your pain.

magictorch sorry to hear about your cat Sad

I had my scan today, bp and urine all fine, the notches on my arteries seem to have gone, however there is restricted blood flow on my right artery, but my left one appears to be in good nick, I also asked if it was possible to tell the sex, she said she would write it down for me, so me and DH could find out together.
Anyway, put the probe on my tummy and got the biggest eyeful of willy and scrotum between a pair of legs!
His legs were stretched out over his head, she asked if I still wanted it writing down, I said no but please can I have a picture of that so DH can see what I've just seen! I should really put it on my profile, I will do later if I can get on the laptop, (MN doesn't like the iPad uploading pictures)
So I need my surprise changing to Boy!

Giddypants · 03/12/2012 18:27

milktray my PIL are like your mum, they don't wish to know, I know they are desperate for a girl in the family, (3 grandsons so far, and another boy on the way)
My FIL said to his daughter when she went into labour, bring us home a little girl won't you? No pressure then!
I'm telling my friends on Wednesday at our weekly coffee morning, they have all said girl, they are going to get a shock!

Bambino29 · 03/12/2012 19:03

Hey everyone, fleeting visit as off for dinner but thought I'd share our news - had our scan today and all's well. Having a little girl! So excited. Really makes it all seem much more real, doesn't it?!

Magictorch - sorry to hear about your cat - so sad.

Mama - so glad to hear you're hanging in there. Often think about you - so amazed by how strong you seem to have been. Keeping everything crossed for as long a pregnancy as possible.

EmpressMatilda · 03/12/2012 19:05

missmuffet Haha! The whole media obsession is annoying me already. I just saw a headline saying 'Kate and William expecting baby -live coverage'. Of what? 'Here's Kate puking into the loo', 'here's Kate attached to a drip'

How horrible to have the world watching your pregnancy. Especially before the magic 12 weeks are up.

Giddy So pleased it went well. What a great pic!

bunnygirl80 · 03/12/2012 19:19

magictorch sorry to hear about your cat Sad

jaqueline hope you get some pain relief sorted out soon.

mama keep on hanging in there, not long now till you hit the magic 24 weeks, then every day your little boy stays inside will make him that little bit stronger

havealittlefaith hope you feel better soon. Could the vomiting be down to baby's position? I had a work colleague whose baby wedged itself near her stomach and she ended up projectile vomiting when baby moved, poor thing

Loving all the talk of change bags, although I'm not a bag person. I got a very functional looking cheap change bag for DS that's still going strong now. Has lots of pockets and a built in change mat, and it's black so suitable for DH to carry too. My friend's DH is very envious of it, but then she conned him into getting her a $1000 Louis Vuitton one Shock

Not much exciting going on with me. Feeling lots and lots of movement now, which is responsible for getting me up at 4am every day. Was the same with DS and he's remained similarly active all his life, so looks like I'm getting another bouncy child. You'd think after all these weeks of constant wriggling they'd at least be tired and want a little rest when they come out Grin

OP posts:
Trishstar · 03/12/2012 19:20

Giddy my scan was the same! Saw willy and balls before the sonographer even mentioned it!!! No mistaking baby is a he!!! x

JaquelineHyOnChristmasSpirit · 03/12/2012 19:31

Mama you post on here as much and as often as you need to. I don't care if you rant, scream, cry, shout or just talk and talk and talk. Anything that makes it easier for you in the real world is ok by me. Thinking of you everyday and hoping Alexander stays put for as long as possible.

I'm also sick of the royal pregnancy already but DH and I think that Wills and Kate are stalking us and want to steal our lives as they ended up getting married the day after us and now they are trying to steal our pregnancy thunder Grin

Still in pain here but the pain killers have relieved it just enough so I can be comfortable for about 3 hours at a go. Has anyone on here had whiplash before? What are the chances of me waking up tomorrow and being perfectly ok?

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 03/12/2012 19:44

Maybe bunny?! I think the suggestion of the night time sickness being due to reflux might be right - it was more like regurgitation and only a bit. There's norovirus at work (mostly patients) so it could be partly that. Doc seemed quite unsure.

jacq I've only ever had mild whiplash but I suspect it's something that'll ease off gradually.

I would hate the speculation that Kate and Wills have. I told a close colleague when I was 8 weeks (we shared an office and I kept running off to vom!) but I'd have hated the world to know. I've seen reports in the papers saying they weren't expecting it to happen so quickly. They've been married 14 months. If they've been TTC since they got married its actually taken a year! I saw a report speculating about how soon she'd get diffed because 'all royal couples in recent history had conceived within 18 months'. Poor woman just wants to stay with her head down the loo and there's all this speculation!

magictorch · 03/12/2012 19:59

Thanks for all your kind thoughts. I'm still very weepy Sad and really not looking forward to work tomorrow.

Bext completely get where you're coming from. I've always been quite career-orientated and have given my all to my company, but they're being pretty crap with me and I've lost all interest now. Biding my time and having an internal monologue as to whether I'll go back there or not after baby arrives. Most unlike me, but meh.

I feel quite sorry for Kate - she must be feeling like poo, worried about the 12 week point and now will have cameras pointed at her belly for the next nine months. Will be like having 10million interfering MILs at once. Happy for them though, they seem like a nice couple.

Thinking of you and Alexander, Mama

photochick · 03/12/2012 20:03

mama moan away - I think you deserve it!
Magictorch we have gone for the Movix too - seems a good deal for everything you get, plus I am hoping to use the carrycot overnight in the early days, even if I have to get a proper sleeping mattress for it.
jaqueline sounds like you have had a bad time lately - hope you are feeling better with the painkillers.

Have been getting an irregular heartbeat but all the bloods and ecg have come back clear. No-one has seen that bothered by it and I feel ok but its disconcerting. Guessing I need to take it a bit more slowly and 4 days in London baby shopping last week didn't help! Smile

Giddypants · 03/12/2012 20:57

photochick I also have an irregular heartbeat, sometimes it skips a beat! I've been told its linked to stress, and I do feel that when I'm stressed the more it happens. Try not to worry about a lot of people have it and don't really notice it

Rivergirly · 03/12/2012 21:56

loving the MIL talk - i think i can beat you all my MIL refuses to even speak to me and I have never entered her house - I don't take it personally though - she wouldn't like anyone that dared to take one of her sons away from her!!! I should note that the eldest son (in his 50's) is still living at home.

The girls I work with were all shocked when I said she refused to get in my car or speak to me recently at a family dinner - yes I am nice in RL it's just her that's the problem!

So unless my OH takes our baby girl to see her it is unlikely that she will ever have anything to do with her!!

and Mama I am sooooo pleased that you have got past the 23 week stage - now just hope your little man can hang on a bit longer and get stronger.

Teapig · 03/12/2012 21:57

mama you can rant all you like, you are doing amazingly well and we'll all here for you any time.

magic I'm so sorry to hear about your cat, I have two and can only imagine how you must be feeling. Thanks for sharing your pram choice, I'm going to check out the Movix, sounds like a very good deal.

jaqueline I hope the pain goes soon, it sounds horrible and sounds like you've been utterly messed around by the Drs.

Congratulations bunny and giddy (and anyone I've missed) on your scans today, fab news!

bext I know what you mean about losing interest in work. I'm usually very career orientated but I've found my motivation is dwindling which is really unlike me. I feel like counting down to my maternity leave already even though it's yonks away.

toobreathless · 03/12/2012 22:02

Lovely news giddy and bambino

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 03/12/2012 22:04

I've never met my MIL. She and DH were estranged until very recently (we think she has MH problems). We are gearing up to the introduction but she lives a long way away so it's tricky logistically. DH met up with her and told her I was 8 weeks pregnant - she put it straight on FB and couldn't understand what the problem was! Shock

FlaminNoraImPregnantPanda · 03/12/2012 22:39

I'm very lucky with my MIL, she's lovely. She's very excited about becoming a granny and wants to be involved as much as possible but is also extremely mindful and nervous about interfering. Having AS I'm not very good at picking up subtle hints but the hints she was dropping about being around when the baby is born were more like sledgehammers. Once it dawned on me what she was hinting at and I told here she was welcome anytime, she was besides herself with excitement. I just found out that she has told her employer she is retiring when baby is due so she can fly over and spend a month here getting to know him and helping us.

Missmuffet28 · 04/12/2012 08:56

Morning all hope all is well good luck to any scan people today!
