mygirllolipop · 30/03/2006 10:48

Thanks betty, I know usmothers do just cope with whatever's thrown at us but I was wondering if I'd come out of the other side with my hair still intact! I'm still trying to get DD3 to stop BF as she bites on purpose now and doesn't really need milk anymore. I'm going to the baby clinic this pm to ask for advice. Will also have to look for a double buggy too.

fatbetty · 30/03/2006 11:05

Ah the search the double buggy. We spent ages looking for one and ended up getting ours during a trip to Holland. Don't use it much now as ds1 can walk everywhere but i'm sure it will come into use again once no.3 is here. A friend of mine just got the Marco Sky and that looks great - very small and light!!!

NatalieJane · 30/03/2006 15:29

Harrogatemum, and everyone else feeling rough, I hope it has got better for you throughout the day. I am still sat here wondering if I should stay close to the bathroom!

Northerner, enjoy the weekend you lucky thing Envy! I think DS will be fine, he only knows a little bit about the baby at the moment but he is already really excited and keeps kissing/stroking my belly! He says he want's to help changing nappies and feeding (should be fun because I am hoping to BF!) I think he will be in for a shock if he ends up with a baby sister instead of a brother though!

Good luck tomorrow Stacey if I don't speak to you before!

Sorry this is so long! Hope eeryone is having a good day :)

staceym11 · 30/03/2006 16:20

what age gap will those of you have who are looking for a double buggy?

dd will be just over two and im going to try desperately to keep away from the double buggy idea as i have nowhere to put one, the isnt enough space on public transsport for them and i dont drive and the shops round my way dont have wide enough doors, and i wouldnt want the two in front of each other.

is anyone else not going to be having a double buggy? or am i deluding myself, iv got dd walking a fair way now, even tho she only started a month ago so surely she'l be able to walk all i need her to??

Northerner · 30/03/2006 16:25

Stacy, I think you'll deffo need a double buggey if dd will be just 2. My ds is nearly 4 and we stopped using his buggy at anout 3.5ish. 2 year olds still need a buggy IMO - but you know your dd best. Would she be happy with a buggy board?

NatalieJane - yes my ds has already ordred a boy one! Does not lke the idea of a sister at all. Smile

fatbetty · 30/03/2006 17:21

We had a buggy board too for ds1 but it was nice having them both in a stroller and I could strap ds1 if he was wandering off where I didn't want to go or if he was having a tantrum (nothing worse than trying to carry a squirmming, screaming toddler out of a store while trying to push a stroller). Is there anybody you could borrow one from? That Marco Sky that I mentioned before is an umbrella type stroller and is very compact.

Feeling awful today. Spent the majority of the afternoon in bed with ds1, trying to get him to watch videos while I slept. Don't feel any better for the little I did sleep. Have a MW appt next week and wonder if she could give me some of that medicine spinach has......or am I just being a wimp?

Jen1209 · 30/03/2006 19:47

Hi all, got my date for my early scan today - APril 19th!!! Shock I will be over 9 weeks by then so hardly as early as I would like (I wanted one next week :o )

Sorry to hear you are feeling bad Fatbetty, I must admit my ms seems to go away by about 11 am but I am SO tired in the afternoons.

You lot are really organised aren't you? I haven't even thought about prams / buggies etc yet!!! I am trying hard not to think to far ahead until I get to that crucial 12 week point...

I won't be on now until next week as we are going to DP's dad's for the weekend. I am really looking forward to it - I also have next week off work to help my best friend with her brood, 2 DS's age 8 & 4 and DT's at 6 weeks - give me lots of practise!!!!

Have lovely weekends everybody

Northerner · 30/03/2006 19:49

Jen - that's really kind of you helping your friend out like that. Bet she'll be grateful of an extra pair of hands. Sounds like she has her hands full!

I'm off to pack now for my weekend away. And dropping off ds with SIL soon.

spinach · 30/03/2006 20:53

is anyone thinking of havin a nuchal fold scan?

OP posts:
velcrobott · 30/03/2006 21:07

I am not Spinach, are you ?
How are you feeling ? is your extreme tiredness sorted ?

spinach · 30/03/2006 21:10

well, i cant decide, i'd have to pay private fees. I'm not 'at risk' per se, the only reason I'm tempted is that I would get results at 12 weeks rather than 16 weeks, and then i could relax. The scan is much more detailed too.... will have to decide this week though.

I'm still tired, but its better.... now I'm not getting any sleep cause dd in my bed with a cold! How's you?

OP posts:
lucy5 · 30/03/2006 21:15

I have had a very faint bfp today but I think i will be December rather than November!

spinach · 30/03/2006 21:18

congrats lucy!

OP posts:
lucy5 · 30/03/2006 21:19

Thanks, I'm going to do another test just to be on the safe side but there was a definite circle although faint. I did the same thing with dd. I knew I was preggers so I tested really early.

spinach · 30/03/2006 21:20

do you know when your due date is?.... my tests were feint too! drove me made!

OP posts:
lucy5 · 30/03/2006 21:29

Around 4th to 6th of December. I can't remember exactly, doh!

velcrobott · 30/03/2006 21:44

I'm OK Spinach Smile
Had a bad cold but it's much better but I did look after myself.
Congrats Lucy Smile

NatalieJane · 30/03/2006 22:38

Congratulations again Lucy, I am so pleased for you! :)

Am I just being a complete stick in the mud, or is anyone else feeling quite deflated and down in the dumps?

Don't get me wrong I am so pleased to be PG, and happy with everyhing, but I just can't seem to pick myself up, which really isn't like me. It is probably a mixture of tiredness (have been in bed since 9 o'clock just couldn't get to sleep) feeling sick all the time, DH has been unwell and so we have been moping around the house.

I got in the bath wih DS earlier on, and we were having a water fight with an empty shampoo bottle, he was giggling and laughing, I was doing the same, he ended up in bed late because I just didn't want to get out of the bath and go back to being so bloody miserable.

Roll on second trimester!! Sorry for the moan!!

Hattie05 · 30/03/2006 23:04

Hi everybody. Congratulations Lucy! Smile

Had midwife appt today, booked to have midwife led care and hopefully a homebirth - dp says its ok! Grin.

Previously i had nuchal fold scan with dd but now i've moved areas, apparently they just do a blood test at 16 weeks to check for the same things. I got a leaflet and so understand about it, but have no idea how it compares to the scans. Does anyone know more? The midwife told me that both tests give the same results.

Been getting period pains this evening which worry me because i'm 6 weeks so its not 'around the time of my period' which is when i got them last time. Anyone else get this?

velcrobott · 31/03/2006 08:55

Had bad night... took me 2 hours to go to sleep, woke up at 5 and could not go to sleep!
And whilst I lay awake I remembered that my 1st 2 children had 1 thing in common... I laboured on the Friday 10th (different months and years of course)... I am due the 11th with this one... and there is a Friday the 10th.... that would be spooky if AGAIN I laboured on that day !!!! I'm sure it won't happen now that I've thought about it !!!!

twocatsonthebed · 31/03/2006 08:59

Morning all,

Spinach - I am getting a nuchal fold scan done privately, because we don't get them automatically down here, and I'm 40, so fairly high risk. They can do it up to 13+6 so you've got a bit of time to think.

NJ - yes I am sick of being tired and sick and having no energy, and keep apologising to dp for being so dull. Can't get half of what I'm used to doing done in a day. Grrrr.

Hope everyone else is keeping well

mygirllolipop · 31/03/2006 09:07

Velcorbott - spooky!
I'm not getting any extra tests done, just normal bloods and scans. Still no appointment letter btw.
The age gap for the double buggy is 19 months stacey. I might only use it for a bit but at least I know it's there if I want it. We had a double buggy for DDs1&2 where the age gap was 2y5m. Didn't use it for long then.

NatalieJane · 31/03/2006 09:57

Morning all :D

Well after having one of the worse nights sleep I think I have ever had, I am feeling a bit brighter this morning! Have just been to DS's assembly and he was so proud of himself for getting this certificate!

And I think because I had something to take my mind off it, I don't feel as sick today, but I haven't tried to eat anything yet!

Have a good day everyone :D

fatbetty · 31/03/2006 10:54

NJ, I have been feeling the same way. Just have no motivation at the moment. Feel like all I want to do is sit around and the kids are watching way too much telly and the house is a complete disaster. Can't even be bothered to cook dinner or go grocery shopping.

Feeling a bit better this morning but I have this yucky metallic taste in my mouth and I can't get rid of it. Just found my travel sickness bands so hopefully those will help some.

NatalieJane · 31/03/2006 11:09

I hope it gets better for both of us soon! I am getting fed up of feeling fed up now!! LOL

Am about to go and get DS from nursery and take him into town to celebrate his certificate so hopefully that will take my mind off things for a bit! If you can make yourself busy it does help!
