Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
marthahm · 29/03/2006 12:06

twinkle, i'm so sorry. my message must have crossed yours and i've only just seen it. a horrible loss.

wuzzlefraggle · 29/03/2006 12:12

thanks martham...so im not the only one then?lol. glad that yours is subsiding...hopefully mine will too in the not so distant. im 10+2 today.

how far along did you lot have your first scans????

Gingeme · 29/03/2006 12:47

wuzzlefraggle if its any conselation I was just nearly sick waiting to pay for my shopping in Tesco. Had to run outside for some fresh air. A realy nice lady bought me a chair and some paper towels just in case. Bless her! Had a quick packet of Hula Hoops and was fine after that. Could have been embaressing. Usualy first scans are done about 12 weeks. Hope so cause then Ive only got 2 weeks to wait. When I had my first scan with my last ds the sonographer let my older ds have a go. He thoght it was briliant especialy when the baby moved. He keeps on about it with this one.

Gemmitygem · 29/03/2006 12:47

Twinkle, am really sorry.. Sending you virtual thoughts and sympathy.

wuzzle, had an early scan at 8 wks cos had quite a lot of bleeding at 5 weeks, so just for the reassurance. Won't have another till 15 wks though (going back to the UK then).

Interestingly, the doctor here said you don't need a full bladder if you're (fairly) slim, and sure enough everything was perfectly visible through the normal ultrasound. So why the bladder torture!

SKYTVADICT · 29/03/2006 12:48

Twinkle, so sorry to hear your news. x

Wuzzlefraggle - I have scan next Friday 7 April when I will be 13 weeks (11 + 5 today). Really nervous already so don't know what I'll be like nearer the time.

majormoo · 29/03/2006 13:31

sorry to hear your news twinkle. take care.
Totallyfloaty sorry to hear about DDs school. We so want everything to be perfect for our children.
Congrats on scan Hana. I am off to Harris Birthright tomorrow morning for mine and am DREADING it.
Gemmity-you don't need a full bladder for scans at Harris Birthright or the one I had down here in Brighton-perhaps it is if they are using older machines? not sure.
Tigerlion-government want new maternity/paternity rights to kick in from April 2007 I think so no good for us.
gingme-I think I had thrush-had white bits in my wee which has now gone. I just switched to sexy cotton pants and seems to have helped. I thought you could still take pessaries-best to ask midwife. I bet i get it back again. Don't mind that so much-with DD I got the dreaded piles and it was AGONY.

booge · 29/03/2006 13:40

Twinkle,I'm so sorry to hear your news. Take care.

marthahm, Seraphine is great isn't it, I splashed out and bought a pair of their jeans and a wrap around top online, both are great. They're best maternity jeans I've had but at £60 they need to be. (Plus the extra to get them shortened when you are a short arse like me)

Gingeme, she loves it, she wasn't sure at first because she had so liked her Jane powertrack so much but then she was comparing it to a dedicated single. She reckons it is great now she is using it as a double. The little one goes straight off to sleep as the bottom part swings and as it is enclosed she feels he is very snug and warm. It folds up really easily and of course it is very narrow so it fits in the car like a single.

booge · 29/03/2006 13:41

I forgot to mention she is a big walker so it does plenty of miles.

Gingeme · 29/03/2006 14:10

Excelent thanks booge. I think thats made my mind up. Will show my dh this too might convince him to stop moaning about the expense. Still if I start saving now should have enough.

Just out of curoisity though has anyone used a 'buggy board'? If so are they any good?

paow · 29/03/2006 14:11

Hello everyone,

Sorry to hear that Twinkle, take care and I hope you can be around family or friends, it makes it better.

Re: rash, Last weekend I had a really bad cold and stuck a lump of Vicks Varporub on my chest and neck, next day the skin was really red and sore.
DH went to Holland & Barrett looking for a natural remedy, and he told no to rub anything on the skin as pregnant women are very delicate.

Just been to Hennes to buy a couple of bigger sized tops for the office, as now it's getting hard to hide the bump I have, specially towards the end of the day!!
Can't wait for my scan! Only 12 days to go...

paow · 29/03/2006 14:13

Gingme, dhs moan about the cost of the pram but they got to understand that it's you who's got to be happy with it as you'll be pusshing it everywhere!! Better to buy one who lasts, you can always sell it when you finish with it!
Those boards look ace, I see the kids on them behind the little bros and sis better than dragging them along if they get tired!

Gingeme · 29/03/2006 14:47

KNow what you mean paow. Ive got a good pushchair which my parents bought from Mothercare when ds number 3 was born with a car seat on it so not sure what to do cause a buggy board would fit on it. Know what I mean? Well see what happens nearer the time.

Gemmitygem · 29/03/2006 15:50

Good luck with your scan tomorrow majormoo! Keeping everything crossed!

Prams/buggies: hadn't even thought! except kind of have an image of those old fashioned ones (which they cutely still have in Denmark, when we went on holiday there). But seem to belong to the era of Norland nannies in Hyde Park, too bulky I suppose...

Just went to gym, but only did 20 mins very gently on stepper, then had massage, but now my stomach's aching and feel paranoid I've damaged something.. maybe need to take it easier. DH wants me to literally lie on the couch until I give birth Smile

Gingeme · 29/03/2006 16:10

Take it easy gemmitygem especialy if youve had a bleed! Know what you mean about those prams I think theyre so grand looking . My Mum said how long they lasted and basicaly the baby stayed in them till it was ready for nursery! Well maybe slight exageration (cant spell) but it seems baby slept in it night time too. Thats value for money. Masage sounds real good. I could do with one of those.

marthahm · 29/03/2006 16:53

my dad has got so excited with the prospect of being a granddad that he has brought our huge ancient pram out of hibernation and polished it up. don't think i'll be using it in central london though! my friend had a buggy board and it worked really well. they're v. sturdy.
gemitygem, i get an achey tummy at the gym too. i think it's because all the stomach muscles etc. are already tight because they're being stretched by the bump growing. it's an uncomfortable feeling, i wasn't sure whether to stop.
gingeme, for the thrush, you should try reducing your sugar intake. also incl. fruit juice in this category. and you could take a good probiotic like solgar or biocare-be careful which one as alot of them are rubbish and the bacteria are dead eg. yakult drinks-what a swizz! this might be too much, but if you're desperate, they do sell probiotic pessary type things which app. are more effective.
i used to get it all the time until in desperation i bought a biocare friendly bacteria-expensive but worth it. i think sometimes it comes back and back because all the friendly bacteria are wiped out each time as well as the bad bacteria by canestan cream. good luck

Gingeme · 29/03/2006 16:59

Ok thanks marthahm. Someone did suggest live yoghurt but they didnt say eat it they said put it somewhere else. Dh cant wait for me to try that! It seems to be subsiding a bit now though thank goodness. I got it at the beginning of my pg with ds3 but it didnt last this long. Oh well just something to add to the piles and heartburn and itchyness and sicness................

mmmmchocolate · 29/03/2006 21:53

Hi all. Hope you don't mind me gate crashing. found out today i am pregnant and i have managed to get to 11wks and 4 days with out knowing!!!!! so shocked but pleased. its my 2nd aswell so surely i should of known!!

jamiesam · 29/03/2006 22:32

So sorry about your loss Twinkle, sending you lots of love.

Do hope those of us who have bad sickness will feel better soon. I'm afraid I have just enough nausea to be annoying (and re-assuring) but not enough to be even inconvenient. My heart goes out to those who are really suffering.

I have my first scan a week tomorrow at 10 weeks and 5 days. Also nervous but excited and impatient too. Good luck for your scan tomorrow majormoo.

Welcome to mmmmchocolate and big congratulations! (Now try and rustle up some pg sypmtoms can't you! Could you try for a small paunch at the end of the day maybe? Grin}

Hmm, thanks for advice about my armpit rash Blush but it's not itchy (yet?) Won't use any inappropriate products on your advice paow! - wondering now if I should try a different anti-perspirant?

OK, today's off the wall question from me is - has your hair stopped falling out yet? Isn't that supposed to happen when you're pg? Over to you...

Gingeme · 29/03/2006 22:34

Congratulations mmmmmchocoate. The fun starts here! he he

Gingeme · 29/03/2006 22:38

Thats a good idea jamiesam. Try an unperfumed one for a while. Body reacts to all sorts when your pg. Or better still try a sprinkle of talcum powder for a week or so instead see if that calms it down.Thought hair was supposed to fall out when youve had baby cause of all the extra you grow while our pg!!

jamiesam · 29/03/2006 22:59

gingeme - not sure that I could bring myself to use talc instead of deod? Sounds vaguely old ladyish (no offence!) Do use an unperfumed anti-perspirant but it's Mitchum which is a bit industrial. I'll go and buy some sure or somethingn...

And surely if there's going to be a lot of hair to fall out after the baby is born, it shouldn't be falling out now? What do you mean by growing extra?

Gemmitygem · 30/03/2006 03:53

jamiesam, you could try the 'Lush' deodorant bars which don't have any nasties in, are basically like talc bars but stronger. I use it cos I'm paranoid about the aluminium thing, and also worried when preg about nasty chemicals permeating the skin etc (I am a big hypochondriac though).

King of shaves does a very very mild women's non-aluminium deo, but it unfortunately doesn't stop you sweating at all!

funny others have had the same aches in the gym. I wasn't sure if it was the movement or the rise in heartbeat, but it basically starts to feel uncomfortable quite soon. I guess it's sproglet's way of saying 'get back on that couch!' Grin

Gemmitygem · 30/03/2006 03:59

forgot to say.. congrats and welcome mmmchocolate!

Gingeme · 30/03/2006 08:32

Good morning ladies. You make me feel so lazy keep going on about your gym aches and pains. Talc is an old fashion thing. My Mum always taught my sisetr and I to use it in the summer under our boobies(Im quite a large busted ladie) and its always kept me fresh. Anyway they say your hair volume doubles in your second trimester. Thats when you 'bloom'. Your hair looks glossier and your nails grow stronger.Hope so cause my hair looks like I could fry eggs in it at the moment :(

totallyfloaty35 · 30/03/2006 08:38
