Hallo. Came back from yoga to find lovely curtains up and new lights ring fitted. Very sweet.

I hate Aldi. The bread is ace and the vegetables and fruit are smashing value. What I hate are the piles of tat In the middle of the store. I could handle it if the store only had me in it.

I have had stretch marks a over my thighs since I was a child. There is nothing you can do about them - it is deep skin layer so no amount of cream will prevent them. All it will do is aid healing so silvery. They never go away though. Touching wood, I have no new ones yet. I am pretty pragmatic about it though. If puberty caused them I can't see why pregnancy wouldn't.

Thanks for the bouncing tips - I will try to use it daily but take it easy. It was definitely freaking out the cat. She presumes that me sitting anywhere means she can sit on me (including the toilet). She looked askance at this though.

I was 40 weeks when I found them with DS, I thought I had escaped! But no, they were under the belly!!!!

Then they spread rapidly Grin

Pass The dog is petrified of the ball. And the hoover. And the deodorant. And anything really. If you cover your face, she goes nuts!

FatimaLovesBread · 16/10/2012 20:24

Just trying to catch up again

Just wanted to say YellowWellies that my sister knows an old lady called Fanny Payne Grin

TheDetective · 16/10/2012 20:27

OHMYGOD Don't ever ever ever google for images of toe infections.

MY EYES ARE BLEEDING Shock

applepieinthesky · 16/10/2012 20:30

I've got a massive bump on my arm where I had the whooping cough jab yesterday. I take it that's normal? Confused

StuntNun · 16/10/2012 20:30

Moan alert. I'm having a rubbish day today, grumpy and bad tempered with the kids, moody and irritable the rest of the time. I have just sat about doing nothing but feel upset all day. I tried playing my saxophone but even that pissed me off. I'm now in a lovely warm bath that DH ram for me but I'm feeling aggrieved because my book is rubbish. Is it hormones do you think? I just feel teary and anxious and fretful.

Moan over, go about your business.

OP posts:
TheDetective · 16/10/2012 20:35

Please carry on moaning, because it is making me feel better!!

I think hope it is the hormones, as I feel the same!

YellowWellies · 16/10/2012 20:37

I had pretty high fitness before pregnancy lots of running etc (at least 15 miles a week) and as a non-driver walked everywhere, but feel like I'm 80 now and struggle with walking even just a couple of miles a day (I used to do 5+ every day) - I've given up wearing my pedometer to hide my shame. On the plus side with pregnancy I haven't had a single stress fracture over the last 8 months which is more than can be said for my running career!!!

I'm not entirely convinced that high pre-pregnancy fitness equates with an easy birth. Oddly but every very sporty and fit pal of mine has seemed to have a relatively difficult birth - whereas ladies who are a bit overweight or who don't do much exercise (and I'm not meaning morbidly obese ladies but you know, those of us carrying a few extra pounds) who you might seem to think would struggle just seem to be amazing at birth. Why? my guess is that I think our society's common comparison of labour with a marathon isn't accurate - it's not a cardiovascular event after all but a stamina event more linked to body calorie reserves? I wonder if it's because of higher female hormone levels in ladies with more bodyfat which make them better at producing birth hormones, whereas sporty ladies have higher levels of adrenalin which can hinder oxytocin, and also because labour relies on lots of calories.

I am worried that my running will have knackered my pelvis as it seems to have knackered most other bits of my lower body... Still nowt can be done about it now eh?

horseylady · 16/10/2012 20:43

Yw - I do not think I'll have an easy birth. For those reasons!! I hit the wall, I rely an adrenaline to go. What you don't really need in labour!!

Which sling did you go for? I want one but am at a total loss. So I want someone to tell me which one to buy!!

YellowWellies · 16/10/2012 20:43

Fatima have you been reading our girl's name list!!! That was our number one choice... more seriously our surname has ruled out lots of names... Ruby Payne (sounds like a swelling), Magnus Payne (sounds like a big pain), Inga Payne (sounds too much like 'in pain') - you get the idea.

On the boobage I've gone from a C to an F but due to lack of underwire - think my boobs will look pretty ravaged after pregnancy.

DH has been very sweet applying bio-oil every night and assures me that the stretch marks are a memento of the hard work I've done carrying the wee one. Lovely soppy bugger. From having none on my bump a fortnight ago - they have spread like a rash since.

YellowWellies · 16/10/2012 20:51

I love my mei tei sling (mai tai? sounds like a cocktail apologies for more amnesia)... my sister recommends the caboo too.

On the labour front I think you have a distinct advantage horsey - you've got a really realistic attitude combined with cardiovascular stamina - lots of my pals who were very sporty were looking at it like a marathon, looking smugly at us tubbies and expecting their fitness to give them an edge - when it seems to be a very different beast to say a race?

Knowing my family I'll be ticking not the the 'c section', 'intensive care', 'general anaesthetic', 'blood transfusion', 'forceps' and 'episiotomy' boxes but rather the 'all of the above' box :( For me if I could do it without a section (and this would be the first cousin of the 4 kids in this generation not to be born by section) I would be totally ecstatic. Deep down though as long as they are safe - that'd be wonderful.

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 16/10/2012 21:04

Popping in again so I know where I am! Just laying on couch watching crappy tv whilst hubby watches football upstairs. Im taking my antibiotics and my kiddies cough bottle so hoping they kick in over next few days.

horseylady · 16/10/2012 21:08

From eBay?

Dh read through my 'birth plan' which was basically get the baby with as little damage to both of us as possible. Water would be lovely but in all honesty just tell me what to do!! Interesting talking to my nan, all her kids were delivered with forceps, as were my sister and I. Our pelvises may not open enough??!! To be totally Frank (as I was with my mw!) I have no experience of anything like this so am unable to have any views!! You can't train for it, you can't test your body to see what you're capable of until the time comes. I don't view it as a competition at all. I just need to get through it.

YellowWellies · 16/10/2012 21:13

Hear hear. I just want to get through it. If I can enjoy it or feel I've had a good go - then I'll be chuffed to bits. Equally I've seen my sister and SIL beat themselves up over what they viewed as bad births - when all of their babies ended up safe and sound. We put so much pressure on ourselves.

Yes I got the mei tei from Ebay (one of the cheap copies) my sis recommends the caboo which does look awesome. I'm hoping to get given that from her soon when Willow outgrows it...

kirrinIsland · 16/10/2012 21:23

Wow nervous good luck for Friday!

I have a Mai tei from ebay (about £20) horsey and I love it.

I am home safe from oop north, so feel a bit more relaxed! I'm sure my aches and BHs will calm down now and I will go 2weeks over due.
DP had a bit of a panic earlier, checking that I had my hospital bag totally ready and that I had all possible work phone numbers for him in case he doesn't have mobile reception.............. And then went off to work, leaving his mobile on the kitchen table - doh!

horseylady · 16/10/2012 21:34

From any particular seller? There's loads!!

kirrinIsland · 16/10/2012 21:43

Just had a quick look horsey and I think mine came from "daisy baby shop"
I put in Mai tei, and then buy it now only, and it comes up with loads of different designs, but all from that seller. There are some really nice ones, with pockets and hoods and things - I'm sitting on my hands so I don't buy another one obviously lying as I clearly can't type whilst sitting on my hands

ShellyBobbs · 16/10/2012 21:54

And if you scroll down the listings they have that baby stick on head again Grin

TheDetective · 16/10/2012 22:00

I keep having moments when I think 'shit, when was my last period'. Yes, I am a natural blonde.

Blush
Sophiathesnowfairy · 16/10/2012 22:05

I don't really get stretch marks Grin I do get loads of skin tags though and blotchey upper arms which I hate and am really self concious about. Sad

My piles appeared after my birth experience with DS and although they hibernate they have never fully gone away.

Moan moan.

Baby I think is excited the boys are back in town is doing a right old dance, usually much more self composed than this!

kirrinIsland · 16/10/2012 22:13

I have tonnes of stretch marks now - my bump looks horrible :( I pretty much got away with it last time too, just a couple of small ones.

NervousAt20 · 16/10/2012 22:16

Thank you for all your well wishes. I'm excited but very nervous too, I thought I had 3 weeks until my due date not 3 days

I'm 37+2 today so will be. 37+5 on Friday! They've given me a steroid inj today and I have to go back for another tomorrow and then to fetal well being Thursday for a check up then in early Friday. They've also given me antibiotics to make sure baby doesn't catch any infections

We're basically all ready, wondering if the stuff I have is going to fit her now though, have nothing washed so were running round like loonies tonight with a list as long as our arms that needs to be done but I'm sure well get there

caped my LO was breech at 35w and they booked me my appointment for today and I had a scan too

Hope GT is okay and cuddling her LO now

ComradeJing · 16/10/2012 22:19

I read somewhere that they thought that very fit women can have harder births because the pelvic girdle of muscles (??) are so much stronger so the baby/contractions/whatever it is has to fight against that. Where as with someone of average/less fitness the baby has less to work against.

Or something. Hmm

Having said that DH's exW was incredibly fit and road horses right through her pregnancy and she pretty much had sneeze births with both the SDC.

I haven't written a birth plan yet. Mostly mine will be:

-Give me the drugs
-Let me walk around (walking epidural if possible)
-Don't give me post birth suppository I had last time that made me instantly crap myself for the next 20 minutes.

Hoping that giving birth in Aus will be a better experience than giving birth in China. My hospital in China was great but the birthplan was totally ignored (in a what the fuck is this type way) and I felt very out of the loop.

shanelle5 · 16/10/2012 22:24

Had my midwife appt today, she did it at home so she could check out our "pool room" and bring the stuff over.
Now have 3 large canisters of gas and air laying on the floor and a package of drugs in the fridge Smile She said baby was on the large side and I measured 40 at my 37+6 so the usual 2cm over that I have been all the way through. Im a little worried about HOW big he will be, my largest was 8lb 8oz and this is no 5 plus a boy so Im guessing 8-9lb? Im so ready to get him out before he is too fat to fit and the midwife starts making noises about hospital again with the shoulder dystosia comments.
I get the feeling she isnt too keen but I may be reading her wrong. Well having acupuncture tomorrow and Friday to try and shift things along as Ill be 38 weeks but I know that babies only come when they are ready and fully cooked so Im not holding out any great expectations, just gives me a nice distraction (as being a pincushion would) and I guess you never know Wink

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 16/10/2012 22:24

I have stretch marks but that is because I am a fatty. Don't think I have any baby related stretch marks but have plenty of already stretched skin - so much so that I still don't entirely look pregnant I some clothes (36+4). Am very jealous of the lovely bump photos you have posted. Anyhoo.

Today has been stressful. Ventured to my first ever play group. That was an experience. Noisy, full of unreasonable toddlers, and having to get DD to acknowledge that all the babies are not hers alone. She is completely obsessed with babies. I hope this bodes well.

But the real stress was my very elderly grandparents completed on their house purchase today. They sold a couple of months ago and have bought a house around the corner from my parents. They offered full asking price in cash for a no chain speedy sale. It has taken many more weeks than agreed and the seller is the rudest, most ignorant and entitled person I have ever encountered. The sale completed early this morning. The contract time was 1pm. She is STILL moving out. Not apologised, not cleaned, been aggressive. My grandparents are in their 90s. They are remarkably patient and kind about it all. I could cheerfully thump her. Some people are so bloody rude. Rant over!
