Thought I would start the thread.

HC Sorry that our MIL is like that. I guess theres not much you can do apart from telling DH to stick up fo you. My Mil is ok but has her odd ways. She was against me bfing and was determined with DD that she would be dressed in pink frilly dresses. Soon put a stop to all that and I just used to ignore her comments.

The kicks argetting a lot stronger now. They are still fairly low down and sometimes in my bladder.

Im glad im not the only one breaking wind like a trooper. Im almost afraid to bend over in work Blush

Im hoping to go back to work 3 1/2 possibly 4 days a week. Im going to put DD in nursery 2/3 mornings but mil will have both the rest of the time. Id love to do less but when I work out how much id lose its shocking and weve just extended our morgage for the extension. The other option ive got is to work in the call centre and do shifts but I dont fancy the weekend shifts. Im too frightened to tell my mnagaer yet.

Hi Maewest, I also have the offer of a cotbed, but it will need a new mattress. his would also be great...but it just seems silly to buy a new mattress (which seem so costly!) when we can get a new cot for a bit more than a new mattress.
How are you getting on with pram ideas etc?

pinkdolly · 25/03/2006 19:20

Hiya Alychef - Welcome to the group, i'm sure no one will mind you joining in. We are a bit of a chatty group. Regards pushchairs I have already brought mine. It a Mclaren techno classic. I do like the bigger pram/pushchairs but with my back problems I needed something easier to push and lightweight to get in and out of the car.
I brought the techno from Kiddicare and saved at least £50 off the rrp. I have tried it out several times on DD2 already and am v.happy with it.
Must go now as dd2 just bit dd1!

maewest · 25/03/2006 20:03

Went to Mothercare this afternoon to try and find some comfy bras. Woman who did 'fitting' was useless Angry. I'm fairly large (32H before pg) and she seemed to think that I'm now a 40DD - wtf! I know you change shape in pregnancy but I haven't suddenly gained 8in around my ribcage that I hadn't noticed. She knew nothing about how a good bras should fit - and all the mothercare ones seemed to be completely s^%t, 'support bra' my eye! Came away empty handed feeling Angry and a bit freakish because I think I came across as a bit of a bra nerd :) Will have to try and visit my mum (3 hr train journey) and go to Bravissimo in Cambridge.

Sorry rant over!

Alychef · 25/03/2006 20:28

Hi Pinkdolly, we also looked at the maclarens, but we really want a 3 wheeler for walks etc...we are looking at the Quinny Buzz at the moment. We were looking at the Quinny Zapp with infant carrier..until everyone suggested we should definitely get a reclining pushchair, which the Zapp isn't.

What a nightmare all these choices create. Plus I guess it's very much down to individual taste. I dunno, we got to go with what suits best, and if that's not right..start again!

Hi. It was fun to find this message board last night and to read your messages. Unfortunately, by the time I finished reading I was too tired to post.

I am due 14th July. My sis says I need to give the baby a French name as I am due on Bastille Day.

According to 20 week scan we assume I'm having a girl, and this is my first.

Very interested to see discussions around pushchairs. Haven't got one yet, but need to find one that will fit in the boot of a mini. Saw a mini with an infant carrier in the back while out driving this afternoon, and wanted to stop them to find out if they had a pushchair in the boot. Anyone else having space issues?

Happy Mother's Day!!!!
Hope you're all being spoiled rottenGrin
DD made me 2 cards and I got a lovely mug with a great photo of her on it and.......the new Charlie and Lola dvd! I love that show more than my 3 year old does!
Am drinking my fresh coffee and eating a cream cheese bagel with fresh strawbs and grapes after a lie in.
Had a lovely massage with my pg massage therapy lady yesterday - I love her. My back is pretty fecked and the whole of the LHS is in a bad way but she has cerainly helped. She recommends I sit and also drape over a birthing ball so I'm off to look for one later!
Re equipment - we're very lucky to have most things from dd(3). We have a primo viaggio Mamas and Papas travel system and a McLaren techno so the pram thing is sorted but I do remember it all being like buying a car last time!
We have 2 moses baskets from friends but I'm going to use one upstairs and one downstairs so that's no problem!!
Have a good one, y'all!

Hi ladies,
Happy mothers day!

Spub - Envy. You sound like youv'e had a fab morning.

I was up early to get the girls ready for church. We got there and dd1 made a pot pourri pouch for me in sunday school but wanted to keep it herself.

I was running creche and helped dd2 to make me a necklace out of coloured pasta but she wanted to keep that too. Nevermind.

They brought a 4 boxes of cadbury cake mixtures (all different), they like baking. I also got a bunch of flowers and a teddy bear. I do love my girls.

Re the pushchairs, I too have a 3 wheeler for taking down the beach and to the woods coz we really like our walks and couldn't live without one.

Chat2ali- Welcome to the group and congrats on your little girl. Re car, we were lucky as just bought a renault scenic at christmas. There's no way we would have managed with our polo and 3 kids/pushchair/baby stuff... i'm sure you'll find something suitable, you just dont want anything to big and bulky.

Was holding dd1 today who was giving me loads of cuddles/kisses and telling me how much she loves me. When baby gave me such a kick it made me jump and I had to put dd1 down for a bit. She thought it was quite amusing. Do you think baby knew she was there and was trying to tell her to get off?

I hope everyone is having a nice relaxing day!

maewest · 26/03/2006 16:49

pushchairs - so many to choose from! And some seem to be more about making a fashion statement than transporting a baby around! :)

DH felt his first proper kick last night! I was lying on my side in bed and bub was really putting the boot in Grin DH quite excited, and he has been busy all weekend clearing out the study (new baby's room). Think a gentle hint that my mum had a cotbed cluttering up her hallway did the trick!

Chat2Ali · 26/03/2006 17:42

Gosh, it is still amazing to me that you are all around the same stage as I am!

MaeWest - my DH felt his first kick this week too, and has been telling everyone we meet!

PinkDolly - I look longingly at Renault Scenics and practical cars like that (Well, anything with 4 doors really). I do love my Mini, but it is looking very impractical now. Problem is, it is quite new & we still have 2.5 years on the lease, so not very cost-effective to change. The one good thing is that is has isofix points to fix the carseats in, and a friend at DH's work has given us a newborn carseat that will work.

Happy Mother's Day everyone,

Ali

Wallace · 26/03/2006 19:34

There was a thread on here a while back about which pushchair fits into a mini, so it can be done.

The pushchair I needs needs to be sturdy with big wheels for lots of walks in woods. And I would like one that can face me, then face out when the baby is bigger.

Sounds like you are all feeling more kicks than me. This baby is definately moving as I sometimes feel a lurch, but I am not feeling the kicks out the front like when it first started kicking.

maewest · 26/03/2006 20:01

I think bump has also kicked the cat, as yesterday she was sitting on my belly while there was a fair bit of activity and she jumped off looking rather aggrieved. She is a pretty spoiled little animal so won't know what's hit her in July!

bumpybel · 26/03/2006 20:04

Evening girls....

Hope you've all had a lovely day. This time next year, I'll be able to expect cards and pressies too wahey!!!!

Wallace... the kicks i've been feeling have been really varied. Sometimes they feel like internal rumblings that only i can feel and other times, like when I'm asleep they feel stronger. Its wierd isnt it!

Maewest...since I've been attacking the water and bananas my cramp has got quite a bit better. I still get the occasional toe curling vile sessions in the middle of the night, but now down more water when one seems to be coming on!

Have been feeling really fat and unattractive today. So many people have commented on how big my tummy's got that I'm now paranoid that I'm spiralling out of control and will have a real job to lose it. Am half tempted to try a bit of gentle dieting now, for a bit of damage limitation. I'm not far off two stone heavier already. Alot of it is my own fault for eating like a horse early on. Having spent most of life dieting it was nice to be able to have the excuse to eat loads! It gathers around my bum and thighs more than anywhere and i can see I'm going to have to run miles to shift it post baby! Sorry for the whinge... was feeling fab yesterday...

On a plus point am getting a new car on wed... a vauxhall meriva... hopefully its big enough for the travel thing we've got... we've gone for an inglesina pushchair pram thing. I didnt have a clue what to look for and had to rely on DH's experience! Am going to do a list tonight for the other stuff we need to start buying.

Whats the consensus... cot or cot bed?

HC did you get soaked this weekend? Hope you had a good time!

maewest · 26/03/2006 20:04

Oh, and I need a pushchair thats easy to get on and off the bus but is sturdy enough to walk a fair distance with. I won't have access to a car during the week (we currently have a Toyota Yaris) as DH has no option but driving to work. Been looking at some of the Maclarens.

maewest · 26/03/2006 20:06

bumpy - swapped cramp for insomnia last night (grr) hope this doesn't become a regular occurence.

bumpybel · 26/03/2006 20:12

I'm finding it harder to sleep too Mae... I keep wedging a pillow under my tummy but as soon as I move, it all shifts about and I wake up! I can only do about an hour on each side, before needing to turn!

kbaby · 26/03/2006 20:50

bumpybel - If I was you I would try and arrange antenatal classes now. They get full up pretty quickly and the last thing you need is to be trying to cram one in just before the babies born.
Deblaca- The builders told us in total it would take 6 weeks to complete. Its now been 18 weeks and they are still here. We seem to get a day where they come and do lots and promise lots and then the rest of the week they disaper. DH is ringing them tonight to say get a move on. The kitchens being installed 18th april and we wanted to lay the tiles and paint before then but its not looking likely.

Im thinking about going to the gp's this week. My cold has finally gone after 3 weeks but left me with a sinus infection and a sore throat so im taking paracetomols every day. Ive also got bleeding piles which are lovely. Quite a shock to see blood on the loo paper today.
AggiePanther- I expressed from about 10 weeks with DD and she took to it really well. I dont know if it was the timing or the fact that she was adaptable. Im hoping to do the same with this one as well because my mum has offered to have both every sat night.
maewest - I found mothercare useless as well. The bras I did buy from there offer no support and my boobs look all pointy and are under my armpits. M&S do really good bras, comfortable and supportive.
Weve got a maclaren for DD and its a light buggy but the only problem is when the back is reclined you cant get in the basket. Im hoping to get a m&p pramette and then depending on how DD behaves herself when walking either a bagypod or a cheap double for her.

A very happy mother's day to all!!!Smile

And welcome to newbies!

Have had a lovely w/e with the in-laws. Unfortunately DD has today come down with another bout of tonsillitis - poor thing. Seems to be getting them quite a lot. I can see her at home with me for a few days... hard work however lovely she is.

8 sheets the other day. Feel huge right now. Especially at night time.

Take care,
Love
Dangirl

AggiePanther · 26/03/2006 22:25

Hello all, happy mothers day :)
I had a lovely home made card and some chocs and cd's and was taken out for lunch ...then we all snuggled up and watched a film and the baby kicked us all!

BTW for those of you getting cramp - have you tried tonic water? It's supposed to help

maewest · 27/03/2006 08:38

We're doing NCT antenatal classes starting at the end of April. We were advised to book as soon as poss, as they get really oversubscribed, and have shortage of teachers. Think there are also antenatal classes offered by NHS at clinic, but these are during the day so not so practical (and yes I know that technically both DH and I are entitled to time off for these classes, but we all know that it doesn't really work like that!). I'm also doing pregnancy yoga, which is a nice way to be in a room with other pg people, quite a bit of chat goes on too!

IamBlossom · 27/03/2006 10:39

Morning everyone! Hope you all had lovely Mothers/Mothers to be days yesterday.

Bumpy, PMSL at ure "go for the bollocks" suggestion. SF I hope you made a mental note.

Hi to all newbies and interlopers, more the merrier I say.

We are going to have to do the new car thing too - we have a Ford Fusion which is great as it has a DVD in the back for DS to watch on long journeys, but is too small really for two kids, and the boot will never fit a double buggy, which I have resigned myself to getting. Probably go and get a second hand estate something or other. To be honest, I really don't care now about what car I have as long as it has enough room, and air con.

I had a nice Mother's Day morning (although I reckon Spub has got to win so far!!) but the day got progressively more stressful as DS must be teething he was so unbearable and we had to vacate the house as DH is decorating and white spirit and 18 month old kids do not make a good combination. Plus had a row with DH as he lost his temper with DS and I hate him shouting at him, (he has no patience at all) so I was in hormonal tears. Not the way I'd planned spending Mothers day. Anyway it got better, and we went to a friends house for the afternoon, so that was nice and chilled.

I have gained 18 pounds and feel enormous. Bumpy I like you walk the diet treadmill my whole life when not up the duff, so I'm buggered if I'm going to deny myself the things I want to eat for these 9 months. Plenty of time to lose it all after, my advise to you is to give yourself AT LEAST 6 months after the baby before you even consider worrying about it. You'll be surprised how much naturally falls off during that time anyway.

14 more weeks at work.

Blossom

xx

hi girls, sorry i haven't been on for a while, been having a bad time lately.
spent last monday in hospital as i had a fluid leakage and was contracting.
baby is also small for dates and the top of the placenta is still bleeding, but baby seems happy and healthy (and has long legs) just can't wait till its born now as i'm fed up with feeling hot all the time.
How are your pgs going? well i hope
Is anyone else counting the weeks down?
