Thought I would start the thread.

HC Sorry that our MIL is like that. I guess theres not much you can do apart from telling DH to stick up fo you. My Mil is ok but has her odd ways. She was against me bfing and was determined with DD that she would be dressed in pink frilly dresses. Soon put a stop to all that and I just used to ignore her comments.

The kicks argetting a lot stronger now. They are still fairly low down and sometimes in my bladder.

Im glad im not the only one breaking wind like a trooper. Im almost afraid to bend over in work Blush

Im hoping to go back to work 3 1/2 possibly 4 days a week. Im going to put DD in nursery 2/3 mornings but mil will have both the rest of the time. Id love to do less but when I work out how much id lose its shocking and weve just extended our morgage for the extension. The other option ive got is to work in the call centre and do shifts but I dont fancy the weekend shifts. Im too frightened to tell my mnagaer yet.

ok so it's end of quarter at my company, 3 days left to get all our deals in to try and hit targets, my house is a muck pit, loads of washing ironing and cleaning up to do, I've got a meeting tomorrow morning I haven't prepared for yet and what am I doing? Measuring my bump in the bathroom with loo roll HAHAHA! 8 sheets by the way.......

Sick sick and sick again of work. 13 and half weeks to go till I can quit. Sorry to bang on about it, I know lots in the same boat, tell me to shaddap if I get too boring.

DH has nearly finished decorating downstairs, he has put up the dark brown silk drum lampshade I ordered from John lewis and says it's too dark and doesn't let enough light thru but I am going to stick to my guns, it looks lovely and matches the chairs. I reckon being able to see your food is overrated, especially if I've cooked! Grin

Going to my cousin's house this weekend with my sister to sort through all her little girl clothes as my sister knows she is having a girl. I will have to continue to pretend I don't know I am having a boy and yet insist that my sis get's all the nice girls clothes! I bet they suss me.

Feel big and waddly, and not sleeping that well, but compared to all you SPDers and those with other pains I am fine really. I'm up for the WW thread with you Bumpy! Will need some group motivation by then.

Take care everyone.

Hello ladies

You have been busy again and I've only been away a couple of days. Brands Hatch was great but wet, muddy and windy. Felt shattered at work yesterday though. DD spent the night with MIL and my 'lovely' MIL seems to have decided to style DD's hair differently as she thinks it looks a mess the way I do it. She is there today while I was at work so have sent only one hairclip to put a stop to her restyling-hmmm wonder if it works. GGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have tried to catch up as best as possible.

IamBlossom-my DH has a thing about being able to see what he is eating-I could never have a romantic meal in a dimly lit corner. ((xx))

bumpybel-I will deffo be joining in with the WW programme as won't be able afford to rejoin a proper class also it will be a problem leaving the girls. (DH hates me saying the girls and calls me Sally from Corro). I am just under 10 sheets of loo roll. Have asked the girl at work who is due 1st of June and still in her size 10 work skirt to do this test so will report back. ((xx))

kayzed-nice to see you back and glad you had a brill time. ((xx))

lilianna-please take it easy hun-it sounds really nasty. So sad about your friend. ((xx))

pinkdolly-really sad news about your friend as well. Having been there I know how distressing and sad it is especially when all your friends are expecting. ((xx))

Welcome to kay1981 and congratulations. Do you know what you are having? ((xx))

Also welcome and congratulations to catherineskelly. ((xx))

Hello to everyone else-hope you are all OK.

Well, DD 'forgot' Mother's Day again this year. Strange that she never forgets Father's Day.

Also counting down until my last day on the 30th May. Can't wait. Really suffering with what I call walking legs in the evening. Have to sit a hot water bottle on my legs but don't know what I will do when the weather gets hotter.

Have updated the list. If there are any updates I have missed please add them.

Evening girls...

HC your walking legs thing.. is it like a jittery feeling that you cant keep them still? If so I'm getting that loads too! My legs feel really restless early evening and i normally end up stamping about to try and make the feeling go away! Maybe thats whats causing my cramp!

Blossom... I've got thirteen weeks left till mat leave.. Am going to try and go as late as possible, but in reality dont know how easy it'll be!

Kay, I'm the opposite of you... I'm set on a boys name, but cant decide on a girls name! Have you done the ring dangling test, to see if you're tending towards a boy or girl. HC will have you believe that its fool proof, but I'm holding off from buying pink, just in case!!! Grin

HC i'm not far off ten sheets either... by the end of the day it seems to have grown quite a bit!

lilianna - Thinking of you. Hope everything is ok. I started contracting with DD at 23 weeks and luckily everything settled down and she was eventually 4 days late. I hope its just a one off for you too.

spub - weve got the avent steam steriliser as well but is it me or do you burn your fingers trying to prize the lid off.
bumpybel - Im not going to classes this time. I may go to the breathing in labour one though as that was really helpful. My hospital is caerphilly miners but im having the baby at the heath as caerphilly wont accept me as im not low risk.

Im currently cooking rice on a camping stove in the study and doing the dishes in the bath. Oh and the cookers still in the kitchen but theres no lights so we have to bring everything into the hall to see if its cooked. Oh the joys of decorating.

Hi Everyone. Am relatively new here, and am enjoying hearing the experience of other women due in July.

Have been chuckling for days about the loo roll test, but haven't had the courage to do it yet. I am sure that pre-bump I was already more than 8 squares!

HC - Nice to meet you. I am due 14th July, and having a girl. This is my first baby, and I am 35.
Please add me to the list!

Kay and Bumpybel - I had chosen a boy's name before my 20 week scan, and now its back to the drawing board for a girl's name. If this was a boy it was going to be Oliver.

Kayzed - where in Oz are you from? I grew up in and around Sydney. Dad is a pom and I was born here too. Have been living with my Aussie DH here for almost 7 years.

I am going out to by maternity swimwear tomorrow. Its a very daunting thing, but I have just gotten over a horrible 'flu. I was in bed for nearly 3 weeks, and started to feel like rigourmortis (sp?) was starting to set in. I need some exercise, and don't care who sees the freaky fat woman at the pool. Am going to Blooming Marvellous which is near home. Hope they have something that fits!

evening all
kayzed - i don't think your bump looks that big at all - and your boy's a real cutie (i can see how easily he'd tan) ........ i spent a couple of years living in sydney back in the early 90's and i loved it but i know what you mean about the sun

my lo has decided to be v active today which is lovely and i'm eating like a horse, bit worrying really as pre-pg i had a relatively small appetite hope that comes back after or i'll remain the size of a horse .....
we've had to resort to buying a microwave oven yesterday (our first ever) to cook our food (in the bedroom) as kitchen is now a shell with bare bricks and rubble for a floor, so i've had tesco finest for dinner - not very good really when now more than ever i should be eating balanced fresh nutritional food - not microwave dinners and ice lollies!!!!!

Morning all. Far from being huge, I'm a bit paranoid about being small! According to mw I'm measuring spot on for dates but it doesn't seem to really show. I know I shouldn't be complaining, but it would be nice to for people to know that it was a baby bump, not just a bit of a potbelly :). Think it may be because I'm fairly tall so it doesn't notice so much.

Today I am wearing obvious maternity clothes (tunic over long sleeve top) to draw attention to bump. And I'm definitely not pg enough to get a seat on the tube (was in London yesterday), but knowing the reputation of Londoners you'd prob have to go into labour on the floor of the carriage for anyone to take any notice!

Envy kayzed-you are soooooooooo in proportion and 2 of your legs equal 1 of mine. I am 5ft and haven't weighed myself for a while so here goes .............

.......................... Shock 12st 9lb. Think I was just under 11st when I got PG. Am trying to cut out biscuits at the moment-think I need to cut everything out! lol!

Hope you all have a good day.

Byee for now.

Hi all,
Kay - that bump is positively modest and beautifully proportioned!
TBH,I can't remember whether I got scalded by the Avent steriliser or not! Feels like AGES since I used it (2 years!) but I have a feeling that it was tricky to open wiithout a steam scald!
Commiserations to all those living with DIY/Building works. We had major renovations done when dd was 8 months and had no kitchen for about 4 months so the washing dishes in the bath scenario! We were also having an attic conversion done for the first 3 months of this pg. Nightmare at the time but so worth it in the end. My nesting instincts have started up big style again recently and i can't seem to stop nagging dh about everything that needs doing before the baby arrives! This includes landscaping the front garden (tiny but awful). I got 2 quotes last week for £500 and £700!!!
How's everyone feeling? Anyone else very breathless going up stairs? I'm thinking I may be anaemic 'cos I'm so easily puffed and also very very tired right now. Started taking spatone sachets yesterday so hopefully they'll hold me over til next m/w appt 2 weeks today!

Hi back in the office today. Went to physio re sciatica on monday. Got some exercises and do's/don'ts to do which didn't work when I had DS all day yesterday. Think I did every don't on the list!!!

Oh well see how it goes. Seeing midwife this afternoon and just realised I forgot to do my sample this morning.

Liliana hope you are doing better, let us know how the checkup goes tomorrow.

Re prams we got a Jane Powertwin on ebay a while back as DS will still need the pushchair on long walks. Its very light to push and has a car seat in the back for the baby and a toddler seat which reclines on the front. The back seat also goes flat. It was highly recommeded to us and cheaper on ebay than the shops.

Hope everyone else is ok, and welcome to newcomers.

Hi Girlies,

Anyone else feeling ab-so-lute-ly knackered? Like yo, Spub. God love me when I reach the third trimester and the tiredness kicks in...

Spub, I also get very breathless going up the stairs. I'm training someone at work at the moment, and as I show her round, explaining as we go, I'm huffing and puffing by the time we get up the stairs! And I'd be roasted as well.

Maewest, I go to work every day on the tube, and I find I nearly always get offered a seat. I tend to stick the belly out a lot to be sure, as sometimes if you're wearing a coat or even a loose top people aren't sure, so they daren't offer in case I'm just fat!! I offered a girl a seat once, as I thought she was pg, but she wasn't...oops! It's true though, some days, specially the one where you're absolutely conking out, then nobody offers. And I'm not brave enough to ask yet.

HC I get your walking legs thing too!! DH gets itchy feet when it's bedtime, and it used to drive me mad cos he'd just fidget and fidget on the sofa until we gave in and went to bed. Now it's my turn to fidget!!

Hello to the new people, Smile and hope everyone else is feeling good

Annie (24+6), must do loo roll test again...

Kayzed - Lovely pics! You look like one of those women who only put weight on actually on the bump. Am sure you'll spring back into shape after the birth. I am the other type of women, the type where the weight gets spread all around the bum, hips, thighs etc. Mind you i'm my own worst enemy and do tend to eat too much when pg.

So the idea of a post natel ww is definatly appealing to me. I haven't weighed myself for a few weeks but am due to see my rheummy next thursday and they always weigh me Angry, so will find out exactly how much I have put on so far.

Does anyone know what the recommended weight gain is for this stage in pg? Just interested.

Report
Chat2Ali · 29/03/2006 17:31

Hi Everyone.
Sometimes I get puffed going up stairs, but also can feel the extra weight in my knees as I climb.

Stretch marks - yes, and have been slathering on Dr Palmer's cocoa butter for stretch marks since the first one started to peek out, and they are slowly multiplying. I wonder if it would be worse if I hadn't used the Dr Palmers?

My bump is quite low and, this afternoon, I saw my aunt who said I looked like I had put on weight, but didn't look pg. I have to say, after buying maternity swimwear today, I have to agree. I'd rather look pg than just like a slob. Second thoughts about swimming tommorrow...

Kayzed - it sounds like we have been here about the same time. We arrived summer '99, but had been here for a year in '96-'97. We are in London - SW6. I am having the baby at Chelsea Westminster. How about you?

About weight gain, I think I read somewhere that the "average" woman has gained 8 pounds by 20 weeks. That doesn't sound like much does it Shock
