Thought I would start the thread.

HC Sorry that our MIL is like that. I guess theres not much you can do apart from telling DH to stick up fo you. My Mil is ok but has her odd ways. She was against me bfing and was determined with DD that she would be dressed in pink frilly dresses. Soon put a stop to all that and I just used to ignore her comments.

The kicks argetting a lot stronger now. They are still fairly low down and sometimes in my bladder.

Im glad im not the only one breaking wind like a trooper. Im almost afraid to bend over in work Blush

Im hoping to go back to work 3 1/2 possibly 4 days a week. Im going to put DD in nursery 2/3 mornings but mil will have both the rest of the time. Id love to do less but when I work out how much id lose its shocking and weve just extended our morgage for the extension. The other option ive got is to work in the call centre and do shifts but I dont fancy the weekend shifts. Im too frightened to tell my mnagaer yet.

I couldn't see the pic either, so looked it up and it's \link{http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1012548/posts\here} - you need to scroll down a bit for the original picture as there's some follow up about the boy in question (it was taken 4 years ago) - a bit of a churchy site but amazing photos.

By the way, I'm 8.5 squares of loo roll now (was 8 before) - think the average was 8-9 last time. If being pg with dd was anything to go by, I'll be measuring in whole rolls by the end!

DD was really upset going into preschool today - she was crying real tears (I'm used to her hystrionics, but this was the real deal) but couldn't tell me why she didn't want to go, and the staff were mystified too. It really upskittled me - I'm so emotional at the moment. Then I saw a report about that Gonzales serial killer guy they recently put away - it was reporting what he'd said about going on the train to Worthing, buying a butcher's knife and deciding to kill as many people as possible. He described following a guy from the station and planning to kill him but then had to stop as he turned on to a main road. We live 3 minutes away from the station, and my first thought was 'God, that could have been DH', then 'or me and dd', and then I was off on a horrible paranoid, scared and vulnerable train of thought that has infected my morning. I was just like this when pg with DD - 9/11 happened at that time and I was convinced every day would be DH's or my last. It's so not like me, and I hate it Sad. Please cheer me up and remind me that most people aren't crazed psychopaths who go after innocent people (of course, I do know that, it's just that sometimes I need help to readjust a scary frame of mind...)

AggiePanther · 24/03/2006 11:43

SF ..here I am reminding you that most people aren't crazed psychopaths who go after innocent people :)
In fact the only reason they make the news is because its rare - nice people doing nice things for other people just isn't news because it happens every day :)

Straightforward · 24/03/2006 11:54

Thanks AggieP Smile

Morning ladies

Wow, that picture brought tears to my eyes.

Straightforward-hugs (((xxx))) to you hun. It is amazing how emotional we become when PG and worry about things.

spub- hugs (((xxx))) to you too, hope you are resting as much as possible.

bumpybel-lol at your post especially about antenatal or parentcraft as it is now called classes. I didn't find out any of your questions at the one I went to so not bothering this time. You can't make them sleep and still don't always know why DD cries even now. No-one showed us how to hold a baby or change a nappy-I had to insist on being shown when she was born. It really is a steep learning curve but lots of fun and enjoyment. Cramp not too bad but heartburn is chronic.((xx))

pinkdolly-your potty training seems to be going brilliantly. It is such a relief to only use nappies at night and for the odd trip out. ((xx))

entropy and MummyZena-good news about your scans huns. ((xx))

Am 9 3/4 sheets of loo roll. Ripped loads off to wrap round and I was just under 1 sheet short Shock.

When I was having DD I just didn't feel the need or urge to BF. Neither my mum or MIL BF so when FIL got on his high horse about it and lectured me it made me more determined not to. All my friends had a go but just couldn't do it so their midwives told them to bottle feed. At 8 weeks or so I did have small pangs of guilt so that is why I might attempt it this time. Have heard lots of stories of mothers up in the night for hours trying to BF-at least with a bottle you know when they have had enough. We bought one of those little fridges so carried the bottles upstairs with the bottle warmer so never had to go downstairs to heat bottles.

Wet and horrible here in Lincolnshire so time to iron. Looks like Brands Hatch will be a washout for the 1st round of the British Superbikes this weekend. Better pack my waterproofs.

Have a good day.

xxx

Good morning ladies - have just spent the last half hour reading all these messages.
I am 8.5 loo roll sheets last time I measured but seem to have ballooooooned in last few days - even had someone say "can't have long to go now" the other day. The thought of another 17 weeks minimum (dd's both a week late) makes me feel like an elephant.
Bumpybel - m-i-l gave me an old German cure for cramp which is to wrap some corks in a muslin cloth and sleep with it by your feet (tucked under the fitted sheet to stop them ending up all over the place) Was plagued with cramp first pregnancy and was very sceptical but against all odds it seems to work and have not had any bother this time round either.
Have just started to feel blooming now too but fear it might only last a week or so given the rate at which I am expanding - got treated to dinner at Claridges yesterday for my 40th so must be up to 10 loo roll sheets by now.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend and a lovely mothers day.

IamBlossom · 24/03/2006 12:33

HC, I breasfed DS for about 3 months but even when on bottles after that I didn't have to store them in a fridge or warm them up. I just took the powder up in one of the those little divided plastic pots you can get in Mothercare and the cooled boiled water in bottles, and when he needed a bottle just mixed one up and there you go! It never seemed to bother him that they weren't warmer than room temp. And i did buy a bottle warmer but it always seemed to heat the bottles too much so stopped using it after about a week. Just my 2 pence worth.

IamBlossom · 24/03/2006 12:34

SF most people aren't crazed psychopaths that go after innocent people. Wink

Straightforward · 24/03/2006 12:45

Thanks. Am a bit Blush by my paranoid outburst (but it felt really good to write it down and for you guys to be so nice about it Smile)

MummyZena · 24/03/2006 13:01

Hi All BF DD for 9 months till the teeth appeared, she has to nthis day never taken a bottle just beckers, so sterlizing was never too much fuss. Hope to BF this one, I loved it but it is not for everyone and it did mean that I had no freedom at all for a full 9 months. This little lady is going to have expressed and boob so I can get away if I need to, just for a few hours at least!!

Feel horrid, cant wait till next week on Holiday, work busy and stressful and have nasty cough which is bringing me down a bit.

Enjoy feeling good ladies see you in a week or so.

puddytat99 · 24/03/2006 13:05

Hi everyone

Where did the sun go?

SF - Don't worry, there are more nice people out there than nutters.

I gave my notice at work today for my maternity leave, makes it feel so much closer now!!!

As for antenatal, I'll have a chat with my mw next week. I was going to a refresher class at the hospital but they are not running it now. I'm not allowed to go to their other ones, first time mums only. Even though it'll have been 12 years since DS.

I didn't BF DS but I'm going to give it a try with this one.

Also got to go in at 28 weeks (12 Apr) to check for gestational diabeties. Diabeties in family and baby seems a bit big, but DH is 6ft 4in. Would make a great rugby player.

Hope you all have a great weekend and don't get too wet with this lovely weather!!!!

agalch · 24/03/2006 14:04

puddytat99, do you have any symptoms for diabeties? my last baby was 9lbs 14oz which was huge compared to my first two which is why they are testing me.will need to google for info cos i nothing about it.

pinkdolly · 24/03/2006 17:12

Hiya girls,

I had a little tear in my eyes looking at that photo.

agalch - I spoke to my MW at my booking in appointment about me having a homebirth, they have noted it on my records but we havent really talked about it yet. My next appointment is 5th April so don't know if we'll cover it then.

Potty training still going well, so far all wee wee's since yesterday 4pm have been in the potty. Although she did do a poo on the living room floor, she was disgusted.(lol)

When is the nice weather coming?, have got loads of bulbs to plant and DDs want to start a strawberry patch.

SF- I've decided the best way to avoid bad news is to not watch it. There is never anything nice on there anyway.

Have a nice weekend.

Wallace · 24/03/2006 19:49

What an amazing photo!

I BF both ds until he was 14 months and dd until she was almost 2! I will BF this time, but I might also try expressing sometimes so ds and dd (and dh!) a=can have a turn.;

Alychef · 24/03/2006 20:17

Hi all, just popping in to say hello. I shouldn't be here really as am due in June, but I heard Aggiepanther lives near by....I thought it would be nice to introduce myself.

A x Anglesey

AggiePanther · 24/03/2006 20:44

Hello Allychef ...yes I live in Bangor ..hurray another welsh mumtobe. Kath mentioned she'd spoken to someone from anglesey ...welcome to mumsnet :) Have you found many more north Walians around here ... I think moondog is from north wales, not sure who else :)

AggiePanther · 24/03/2006 20:47

Re Breastfeeding ..I'm planning to do it again this time but also want to express so that DP and DD can help with feeds (they don't want to be left out!) I didnt try DD with expressed milk from a bottle til she was about 3 months and she just wouldnt take it ...what's the best way round this? Anyone know? Should I introduce a bottle early on? Do they get confused?

jom · 24/03/2006 21:51

'Hand of hope' photo is amazing! Don't want to get too contraversial but it does make you stop and think about abortion!

I introduced DS to a bottle (of expressed breast milk) at around 2 weeks purely just to give my nipples a break and he took to it well. I had him on the bottle for a couple of days and then had a couple of days of both boob and bottle and then back onto the boob only. I think it was a bit confusing for the poor thing but did it as a last resort as I was in such pain! It certainly didn't effect his eating, he was such a hungry little one (still has a healthy appetite). Unfortunately I only BF overall for 5 weeks as I found it very hard to get him latching on correctly and had constant pain. I didn't have much support but am hoping for more success this time. Smile

Good luck with the potty pinkdolly, sounds like you're ,well your DD2, is doing well. DS had a good day today after a couple of accidents yesterday. After me saying how well he'd been going as well! Blush

bumpybel · 24/03/2006 22:57

Evening girls!

Clara! Corks!!!! I'm all for a bit of superstition type remedy, so will go on the hunt for some corks this weekend! Anything to help!

HC... you'll need to wrap up warm this weekend. It's been bucketing down with us. Hope you have a good time regardless of weather!

StraightF... hope youre feeling a bit safer this afternoon. If in doubt, scream and go for the bollocks! It must be horrid knowing something has happened so near to you. Prob much lower risk of it happening again in same spot. Did you find out what dd was upset about?

Aggie... 8 rolls is tiny!!! I'm not far off a whopping ten sheets now... and thats Andrex, not crappy work type loo roll!

Hope everyone else is happy and well. Have a yummy weekend! x

AggiePanther · 25/03/2006 00:35

8 rolls??? sheets you mean

AggiePanther · 25/03/2006 00:36

:)

Wallace · 25/03/2006 08:33

8 rolls LOL Grin

I am 7.5 (sheets that is!) but I am sure I am a lot bigger than when I last measured (7 sheets). It is different looroll this time though.

HC - have a nice time at Brands - dh would be sooo jealous.

maewest · 25/03/2006 10:23

gaaarghhhh cramp! Woken twice last night (once for each leg). I've been drinking gallons of water too! Time to find some bananas, as we don't get these in our veg box very often.

grump!

agalch · 25/03/2006 13:34

Was feeling brave this morning and measured with loo roll, and i'm only 8 sheets which is a whole sheet smaller than before. Very strange as it's the same loo roll. Must differ depending on which way baby is lying or something?

Alychef · 25/03/2006 14:24

Hi ladies!
Wow, this place is much more active than the June thread...anyone mind if I hang out here sometimes? I', due 16th June :)
I'm having a dilemma with my sis in law, she wants to give me a cot..and it doesn't sound too nice, we're not allowed to sand it or paint or anything! Am I being ungrateful?
Anyway, I have found something I like, brandnew on kiddicare.co.uk and it's price all in costs only a bit more than buying a new mattress. I think I may have solved my issue.
Is anyone else having any in-laws problems?

maewest · 25/03/2006 14:49

I solve my in-law probs by having at least 200 miles between us most of the time! It's difficult when people offer you stuff that you could really do without (happened when we bought our house a few years ago). I'm accepting all offers pretty much at the mo (it's our first), but my mum works for Homestart and so is in on a network of pretty good stuff. We already have 2 bags clothes and a cotbed, not bad going!
