Wow another couple down and more on the way, we really are moving fast now aren't we?!

Managed to finally get some sleep last night and feel loads better today. Still a bit sicky but putting that down to things all moving about now and trying not to think about it too much. Real prob is trying to remember to eat when I feel like poo, just not what i want to do and then I get stuck in a loop of feeling sick cos I haven't eaten instead! Oh well, got me out of dinner with the in-laws last night anyway!

Bonus

Hi everyone, just a quick update from me, i have been to see the midwife and she said baby is still in the correct position, she's only 4/5 engaged, heartbeat and movements are fine, all the advice she could give me to bring on labour is to have sex as an orgasm releases the same chemicals as labour, so it looks like having sex every night until she makes an appearance. :)

Good luck the rest of you ladies, we need some more babies to be born!!!!!!

AbiGilby · 18/05/2006 14:13

Congratulations Inkyminky

squidgeymiller · 18/05/2006 18:24

Hi all, sorry haven't been on for a while, had my hands full!

Niamh Moira finally made her appearance Saturday 22.07pm, weighing 8lb 6oz (not bad considering she was 14 days late) by emergency c-section.

Full story is on Birth annoncements but basically was similar experience to Asur - had Prostin gel to induce me thurs afternoon, fri morning and fri afternon, and then waters broken sat morning.

As no progress was made at all (was still 3cm and only 3/5 engaged after 2days) and she was in back to back position.

We had to stay in hospital until Tuesday pm and although I'm still pretty sore from the operation we are now all happy to be home.

Congrats to all the other new mums and arrivals and good luck to all expecting imminent arrivals. I still can't believe she's finally here!

sorry, should read; As no progress was made at all (was still 3cm and only 3/5 engaged after 2days) and she was in back to back position, The Dr's decided at 9pm Saturday to go for an emergency c-section.

brain not functioning properly!

fenny1 · 18/05/2006 20:42

Congratulations SquidgeyM I am so jealous now!!!

Well, waters broke 27 hours ago now. Have felt like I am wetting myself constantly Blush Ended up going to bed with HUGE pad inside one pair of pants, then a newborn size Cotton Bottom nappy inside another pair of mega pants (don't say Cotton Bottoms don't have their uses!!) Worked a treat and had quite a good night except for the usual 2 hourly toilet trips and nappy changes, for me unfortunately Grin
MW visit to check me out etc and decision to repeat sweep Friday, even though it increases infection risk. If that doesn't work its hospital for synto drip and constant monitoring, which as a hoebirth girl is not in my grand plan.

Considering its not the text book delivery I had dreamed about (well a girl can you know) I feel pretty chipper. That may just be the suger rush from the enormous amount of food I have eaten today!!!!!!

Good Luck those of you who are having niggly signs, I'll try not to be too green when you still all beat me to the post!

momamia · 19/05/2006 08:00

Congratulations Squidgeymiller on the birth of you baby. :)

fenny1 - I hope you body kicks starts for you soon, Good Luck.

Hows everybody else feeling?

4 days to go......I had a good night sleep last night, not really had any niggles yet, just uncomfortable, thats why i've got a feeling that i will go over my due date. I just want my baby now.....Come out baby Macey!!!! :)

bubbles28 · 19/05/2006 12:39

Hello Mums to Be..... still waiting but have been feeling 'odd' for the last couple of days kind of 'fluey' or a bit 'Pre-Menstrual', I went for Reflexology yesterday and she seemed to think Labour is on it's way (she suggested maybe Saturday.....) also Braxton Hicks grew quite strong last night and seemed to be developing a regular pattern..... but thay seem to have stopped today although am still feeling a little 'odd', maybe that's just me!!!!!Smile

Schmoo · 19/05/2006 12:42

Congratulations to all the new arrivals. I don't think my baby is ever going to come out.

fenny - hope exciting things are happening for you right now. Good luck.
Momamia - my EDD is 3 days ... race you?! (If only we had that much control over the proceedings, hey ho). Like you I've a sneaky feeling my little one is going to go over, in my case, by quite a few days. I've had niggles and signs for weeks....I've become so obsessed with bodily feelings, every bubble of wind is being noted and hoped upon.

Has anyone else put on heaps of weight? It's suddenly hit me that I've some chocolate disciplining to do, I've gained over 4stone Blush and feel quite embarrassed with myself.

Schmoo · 19/05/2006 12:44

sounds like you could be in for a busy weekend bubbles! :)

bubbles28 · 19/05/2006 12:46

schmoo I'm due on Monday aswell..... hpoefully it'll be a busy weekend in 'Babyland'.....

fenny1 · 19/05/2006 15:02

Been to MW this am, very disappointing. She didn't want to do sweep, did on my insistance and it was so gentle as not to have been worth risk. Am now booked to hospital for tomorrow am. Feeling very miserable.

ladyoracle · 19/05/2006 15:27

Really sorry for you Fenny, I had HB booked for dd2, my waters broke and nothing happened, 5 days I wandered round leaking Blush and contracting on and off. Bugger. Hope you're in labour really soon. x

franch · 19/05/2006 15:48

Sorry to crash ladies - first of all big hugs to you all - can't believe it's already 8 months since I was last in your shoes - seems like yesterday ... Waiting is HARD, you have all my sympathy!

Just popping my head in because I'm looking for copies of this month's Boots parenting mag for newborns (0-3m) - you get it if you've signed up for the Boots Parenting Club. There are photos of little DD2 in it and I'd love a copy or two for ourselves + grandparents :) Please post on \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1915&threadid=172712\my 'wanted' thread} or CAT me if you can chuck a copy my way.

GOOD LUCK to you all :)

momamia · 19/05/2006 16:28

AbiGilby · 19/05/2006 21:05

Congratulations Squidgeymiller on the safe arrival of Niamh. How is that pronounced, and does it have a special meaning? Take care of yourself.

ladyoracle · 19/05/2006 22:06

Momamia...ditto feel like i've been kicked quite hard, don't worry too much, it's only your pelvic floor giving up the fight against gravity Wink

Every time i get a BH I'm hoping it's the start...it never is. Tick tock tick tock.

momamia · 20/05/2006 08:52

Hi everyone,
thanks for you reassurance ladyoracle re pelvis it doesn't feel too bad today but then again i've only just got up.

3 days to go......was convinced something was gonna happen last night, i had loads of tightenings about evry 15 mins, but wasn't painful, i've happen nothing this morning :(

Has anybody else got any exciting news yet?
:)

bubbles28 · 20/05/2006 11:23

No exciting news..... feel a bit grumpy and teary PLUS had a restless nights sleep with very disturbing dreams so feel a bit irritable too..... I must be such a joy to live with.....!!!!!

squidgeymiller · 20/05/2006 15:39

Hi AbiGilby, it's pronounced Neev and is from Irish mythology, the story is..

In Celtic mythology, Niamh (pronounced /niːəv/ or /niːv/) was the daughter of Manannan mac Lir and Queen of Tir na nÓg. She came down on a magical horse, Embarr, one day and asked Fionn mac Cumhail if his son Oisín (pronounced /ˈɔʃiːnʲ/ or 'USHeen') would come with her to Tir na nÓg. Oisín agreed and went with her to The Land of Youth, and promised his father he would return to visit soon.

Oisín was a member of the Fianna and, though he fell in love with Niamh and returned with her to Tir na nÓg, he became homesick after what he thought was three years. Niamh let him borrow Embarr, who could run above ground, and made him promise not to get off of the horse or touch Irish soil.

The three years he spent in Tir na nÓg turned out to be 300 Irish years. When Oisín returned to Ireland, he asked where he could find Fionn mac Cumhail and the Fianna, only to find that they had been dead for hundreds of years. Whilst travelling through Ireland, Oisín was asked by some weak men to help them move a boulder. He tried to help them from his horse, but he fell, and upon touching the ground he instantly became an old man. He is then said to have dictated his story to Saint Patrick, who cared for and nursed him until he died. Meanwhile, Niamh had given birth to his daughter, Plor na mBan. Niamh returned to Ireland to search for him, but he had died.

Apparently the name itself means "Bright". We really liked the name and although neither DH or myself are Irish, DH is Scottish, so is happy to have something with a Celtic link, albeit not a Scottish one.

AbiGilby · 20/05/2006 16:48

It’s lovely to have a story to go with a name. It sounds such a pretty name too, but my goodness will she have it spelt a hundred ways? I’ve already had Isaac spelt more ways that I thought possible – including Izak!

Imafairy · 20/05/2006 18:18

Greetings all!!
Well it's been an eventful few days for me. After my second sweep on Tuesday I had lots of niggles and was was passing lots of bloody mucus till Wednesday night (sorry if TMI Blush). Woke up Thursday morning (EDD + 5) to discover DS covered in spots - drasted chicken pox, so he stayed at home from nursery with me, which of course meant that at about 9am I started having contractions!! They were quite far apart so i managed to ignore them for a bit, but then started passing blood period style so phoned the MW's pager to try and get some advice.

Contractions were starting to get closer together, so with DS safely situated in front of the TV I did the usual of having a bath, taking paracetemol etc.

At about midday I phoned DH who was in a meeting about 2 hours away to tell him to come home. He and my FIL arrived at about 2pm. still hadn't heard from the MW so phoned the labour ward and was told to come in - at this stage I was really quite worried about the blood, and was thinking the worst.
Arrived at the hospital, but there were no beds so was sent back to the waiiting room for about 30/45 minutes where I think I probably provided the best contraception advice to a group of about 4 20yr old girls who were waiting to visit a friend, and were pretty terrified as I knelt hunched over the seat Grin, TENS machine and hynobirthing CD providing good but not total pain relief. Was taken off and examined at about 3.15 where baby's heartbeat was nice and strong, and I was told I was 6cm dilated!!!

Pain was getting a bit stronger so I requested a mobile eipidural, which went in at about 5pm. This time around I made a big effort to remain upright and move around, which definitely helped.

At about 6.15 I was only 8cm, and my waters still hadn't broken, so they broke them. At this point my DH decided to pop home to go put DS to bed (on the basis that there was still a few hours to go!) By 7.15 I was fully dilated, and no sign of DH, so I basically waited to push till he arrived at about 8.10!!! I started pushing and Benjamin was born at 8.32 and weighed 8lbs and 8oz. He came out superman style with an arm by his head, and I only had a small tear.
It was such a different experience from last time around which was 30hours and resulted in episiotomy and foreceps delivery. This time I was able to feel what was going on, and Ben was delivered onto my stomach and we had good skin to skin for a couple of hours.
Came home from hospital yesterday evening. Am feeling so positive and healthy it's great, although am havig problem BF again, so have been supplementing with formula, but am not going to beat myself up about it this time around.
The only downside to the whole event is that DS1 still hasn't been able to meet his little brother because of his pox. am sitting at home, DS1 is down with the inlaws, I haven't seen him since Thursday and he still doesn't know that he is a big brother, and I really miss him Sad. Hopefully the boys will get to meeet either tomorrow or Monday.
Sorry, I have rambled on a bit, but I can't believe that it's all happened.

Positive vibes to everyone who's still waiting, trust me, having your little bundles in your arms makes it all worth while!!
xx

louismummy · 20/05/2006 20:19

congrats imafairy, sounds like a much more positive birth experince.

momamia · 21/05/2006 08:40

Congratulations Imafairy on the birth of your baby, well done on the labour.

2 days to go now for me, i've had no more tightenings, i don't think she wants to come out, i'm a bit disapponited that nothings happening, i know she will come when she is ready, but i don't think i can wait any longer.

I had a good night sleep aswell which is unusual.

Hows everybody else feelin.

:)

sniff · 21/05/2006 13:07
