Err plastic sheet for our bed??? What is that for????

You are going to scare me now aren't you?

littlemisspiggy · 22/03/2006 09:36

Runtus, in case your waters break in the middle of the night (as mine did with DS.

TheIncubator · 22/03/2006 11:32

Yuk! What a charming thought!

fenny1 · 22/03/2006 12:35

My friend said I should be thinking of putting on the waterproof mattress cover. DP will hate it as he is already a sweaty being. However, I love my bed and would be gutted if my waters broke all over it!!!
What do people think about monitors? Do I really need one or will I just jump at every tiny if its on?

littlemisspiggy · 22/03/2006 12:49

I did tend to jump at every sound the monitor made especially in the first few weeks. In reality there was no need as I could hear him perfectly well without the monitor when he was in his room next to ours. But, it was useful when we were in the kitchen which is 2 floors down from the bedrooms while he was napping.

runtus · 22/03/2006 14:23

No way am I going for the plastic sheeting thing, the whole odea makes me gag......I love my bed but I'll take the risk on that one. I already feel like an incontinent old woman, what with all the creaking, huffing and puffing and loo trips - without adding that to the situation!

Just had a play in the nursery and changed all the furniture around - much happier now!

sniff · 22/03/2006 14:26

I must admit to never using my monitor either. I have just dug it out again. those ones where you can see the baby are good arent they but to be honest I could hear my baby in the house so it didnt get plugged in very often

my jaw is still hurting where I had my teeth out!! and I am very tired all the time and my oldest son is driving me barmy so my patience must be decreasing !!!!!!!

this baby doesnt seem to move as much as the boys maybe its because I am not as big this time

littlemisspiggy · 22/03/2006 14:28

Ok Runtus you just go ahead and wet the bed. Bet your DH will love that too! Grin
BTW you don't sleep directly on the waterproof bit you put it under the normal sheets.

helsi · 22/03/2006 14:29

Well 33 weeks and SPD as bad as ever but I feel to have more energy. I feel better now the spare room is decorated. Just need a new cot mattress but that is not urgent as moses basket will do in the first months.

Midwife said head was down 3/5 last week. Not going to hospital again until 36 weeks where I will plea my side for elective c-section.

Need to pack hospital bag as that is something else that I will worry about so must start soon.

littlemisspiggy · 22/03/2006 16:08

Does anyone feel as though their sides are so stretched by their belly that they are about to split? My belly actually hurts.

TheIncubator · 22/03/2006 16:20

Yep - especially as the day wears on. I usually end up looking substantially bigger when I go to bed than I do when I wake up the next day...

inkyminky · 22/03/2006 20:30

Hello all, cant believe how quickly the time is flying, yikes. Ordered my tens machine yesterday, thought it was great last time so def going to use that again. Have been waiting 8 wks now to exchange on our new house, am having kittens let alone a baby as am getting seriously concerned we will be in before the baby comes. Never mind the decorating, unpacking and new furniture arriving...cant have baby in our little flat we are already exploding at the seams in there.

Midwife appt agin yesterday confirmed baby still breech and placenta still at front of tum...has anyone else got the placenta here or am I completely weird? I cant help but think it is going to make it harder for the baby to turn but they cant confirm or deny either way as they are unsure. So back again in 7 days for another scan.

I think it may be all the stress but I cant stop craving junk food now, not good I know but syrup on ice cream, bags of chips, curries, pizza's oh yummy yummy. No wonder have got to wash it all down with about a gallon of milk to hold back the heartburn.

Since the horrible midwife told me the sex of the baby by mistake I have been driving DP mad by looking at all the names on the credits of tv programmes to try and find a boys name that will jump out to me, tis tricky when you've already used your favourite for your first son.

Have a lovely relaxing night everyone.

hockeymum · 22/03/2006 20:57

Hello everyone - glad to see some of you are feeling like humungous whales too. I'd forgotten what an expedition it felt like just to turn over in bed these days!! Thankfully at least this time I have dd to help me put my shoes on and pick up anything i drop (keep dropping things all the time!) I'm glad she's so helpful. Yesterday I was retching away in the bedroom in the morning (anyone else's sickness got worse again?) and concentrating really hard on not being sick as I knew I wouldn't make it downstairs to the toilet in time if I did start! she said "don't worry mummy" and legged it into her bedroom to get the potty from under her bed (where we keep it for her sickness incidents!) and brought it back to me for me to throw up in. Bless her! don't know how I got one as good as her, it worried my luck wont last through to the next little chap!

Had a midwife appt yesterday and unfortunately got the stupid midwife that no one likes! she said she couldn't feel the baby's position and then she couldnt find the heartbeat, so she sent me to the hospital for an ETG trace. It was annoying because I knew everything was fine but she kept trying to make me worried about it in order that I would go to hospital and she would feel better. Plus she wants me to go back to her next week, where the same will probably happen again! Still it was nice to hear the heartbeat (eventually) and hear him reacting to the machine and kicking it a lot! Only 30 days to go to the section now so am beginning to get very excited about the baby, we have decided on a first name but just need to be sure about a middle name now. Glad I'm not the only one looking at all the tv credits!!

Had a scan yesterday to establish how big my fibroid is re having home birth. They said it couldn't be seen due to size of baby but unlikely to be any bigger. Going back to cons in April to plead my case.
I thought of a nice name if my friend has a boy, well I thought it was nice, Milo. Spot the woman with no children as this is a big kids TV name apparently. Also was taken with Flora til they pointed out its a margarine, hadn't even crossed my mindBlush
Is anyone else bursting out of their clothes or am I just a hefty 32 weeker? Don't want to spend money on clothes I will hadly wear but there is no way these will fit til mid May and I've still got 3 weeks at work! Any tips??

runtus · 23/03/2006 08:35

I know what you mean about the sore sides and feeling like you are going to burst at thye seams, been feeling that way for a couple of weeks now. I was trying to explain it to an uninterested DP last night and could only come up iwht feeling like I've been inflated with a balloon pump! Getting out of bed is like trying to raise the Titanic these days.........and I've got 9 weeks to go Shock

Suppose I should count myself lucky though, had my first ever trip to the loo in the night last night - no idea how I managed to avoid it for so long up til now..........

cori · 23/03/2006 09:45

Hi everyone, am 34 weeks today. I had an antenatal appointment yesterday and a scan. Dr thought the baby was a bit big, but turned out to be bang on average. Am getting a bit nervous about not having everything ready on time. We have a few jobs to do in the house and having probelems with the builders etc. Bought chest of drawers for baby clothes but had to send it back because it was the wrong size. Cant finad anything else I like, and the cradle/crib I bought on Ebay still hasnt arrived. ahhhh

littlemisspiggy · 23/03/2006 10:36

Morning! Fenny, Milo is a good name on its own but he is one of Tweenies. No no no. Grin
Hockeymum how old is your DD? She sounds like a sweetie and like she's going to love being a big sister.

crumpet · 23/03/2006 10:57

Hi everyone - I thought I was going to be lucky this pregnancy as I was with my last, but oh no - my new best friend is a tube of germaloid ointment. Is anyone else suffering?

HandbagAddiction · 23/03/2006 11:36

Hello all! Been absent for a while mainly due to illness and just working too flippin' hard! However - managed to grab a few minutes now to catch up. I'm now 31 weeks - can't believe there's only 9 more to go...and best of all only 5 more weeks at work!

We are as ever totally disorganised and ill-prepared at home - we have the plasterers in right now, the landscapers starting in May and the new windows in the lounge being fitted late April/early May. But then with dd, I didn't pack my hospital bag until after my due date..so I'm not feeling too stressed about it. I have written a couple of a lists though. DD is moving bedrooms in about 4 weeks, so I have a list for her - new carpet, furniture delivery, curtains on order, etc. etc. and then a list for the new baby and me....new cot bed mattress, nappies, breast pads, etc. etc. At least I've got that far! I just need to coordinate my shopping with all the special offers and mid-season sales that are happening, so Mothercare for example are going to running a 10% off everything offer for cardholders between April 10th and 24th...so for some stuff I'm going to hang on until then!

Have also made the decision to get a double buggy as although dd is 2.5, she's still very reliant on her single one for long trips and walks out. Very taken with the Phil & Ted's E3 explorer - so that's another thing on my list.

Pregnancy health wise - I'm actually not feeling too bad right now. Still feel more uncomfortable generally that last time but my insomnia hasn't been too bad recently - I'm putting that down to the ante-natal yoga I'm doing which is fab.

Glad to see that everyone else is hanging on in there despite the aches and pains.....

littlemisspiggy · 23/03/2006 12:46

Oh no Crumpet poor you!!

cori · 23/03/2006 14:46

Just like to let everyone who is suffering from indegestion/heartburn that Zantac (available over the counter) is safe to take in pregnancy. Consultant prescribed some for me yesterday. Much better than Gaviscon.

crumpet · 23/03/2006 16:18

Hm, it's not been a good 24 hours - I bought gaviscon yesterday too, at the same time as my first ever purchase of germaloid... but the heartburn is very minor at the moment. - I'll bear zantac in mind.

Still, on a positive note, the last 12 hours have been comparative bliss!

lovecloud · 23/03/2006 21:15

Hello

How is everyone this evening?

I am so full from eating too much :)

My belly has been so itchy and sore today on one side and quite red. I was hoping to get away with stretch marks again but I think this might be the beginning of them Sad

It just feels like I cant stretch anymore but I have six weeks of growing to go yet!!!

Mandymoo · 23/03/2006 22:49

Hi all - 34 weeks pregnant and feeling ok i guess - not sleeping that well due to having to go to the loo about 23 times a night but apart from that i'm just fine!

Havent packed my hospital bag yet(cant even remember what i need to pack!), nursery isnt ready yet and i havent finished work yet - so no panic then!

Hope you are all ok and resting as much as you can!

fenny1 · 24/03/2006 08:24

Morning everyone
One of the girls on my antenatal course swears by dried papaya for indigestion. Haven't tried it myself as I hate dried fruit but thought I'd pass it on. I find icecream in the evenings helpsGrin
Thought baby was trying to get out last night with the somersaults going on, it was a bit bizzare actually, they have never been so big or consistent before.
