Mama1980 · 21/09/2012 09:26

Ratbag I'm bored I'll talk names Smile

ratbagcatbag · 21/09/2012 09:30

Haha me too mama,
Boy we love
Zachariah Chase
Girl we think
Lucy Savannah
I also like felicity but DH not sure.
You?

Teapig · 21/09/2012 09:31

Glad to hear you should be home soon Mama. Boo to the grumpy physio though he sounds like a total eejit.

I'd prefer think a pink baby and think DH would prefer a blue one but obviously we'll be over the moon either way. A healthy baby is everything we could possibly want. I think we'll find out the gender as there's no way I'm patient enough to for it to be a surprise.

ratbagcatbag · 21/09/2012 09:32

Hmmm only definite surprise so far then is me :)

aufaniae · 21/09/2012 09:33

mama keeping my fingers crossed you get home next week.

ratbagcatbag we're thinking about names already. DS's name is a fairly unusual (but not totally unheard of) Scottish name. (DP's Scottish) I'd like another Celtic name I think, so they go together. There's more than a little pressure from my Welsh side of the family to go for a Welsh name this time! Perhaps I'll ignore both and honor my Grandfather's Estonian origins instead?!

We tend to like similar boys names but quite different girls names. DP wanted Storm or Freya if we'd had a girl last time. I wanted Elodie. We would have had a girl's-name-fight if DS had been a girl I think Grin I think I've gone off Elodie a bit now though, I still think it's lovely, but I'd prefer a Celtic name.

DP's come round to the thinking that Storm is just asking to have a really timid girl who hates her name. So this time, he's made up hos own, ridiculous sounding girl's name which he claims he wants instead Hmm (it's not happening!). Can't tell if he's being serious or winding me up! His list last time was full of far-out names (e.g. Manga references, his football manager's surname!) among some more sensible suggestions. Still not sure how serious he was before. Maybe I should call his bluff this time Wink

Cadmum · 21/09/2012 09:38

I prefer a surprise in the delivery room. I have no preference as we have 2 dds and 2 dss. Our youngest is a girl so a boy might be less apt to dethrone her. I am out of names for either so that doesn't help either.

Scan tomorrow am for me. I am nervous beyond words...

Mama1980 · 21/09/2012 09:41

Thanks all Smile
Ratbag, For a girl I'm thinking maybe Mary, Doris, Mara, Hera. Second name will be Louise after my sister, my ds's middle names are for my brothers already.
A boy is more difficult, love the name Vix but other than that not sure. Only being very tentative though as I had decided in name for ds then changed completely after his birth as it didn't suit him at all. plus dp is barely speaking to me now so we can't really discuss. Men!

SneezySnatcher · 21/09/2012 09:44

If we have a boy we have the name picked out from last time - William. We agreed on it early on and love it.

Girls names are harder (DD's was a last minute decision but I think it's wonderful)). I really like Georgina this time, and it goes beautifully with DD's, but DH isn't keen. I'm hoping I can work on him!

ratbagcatbag · 21/09/2012 09:44

Aww mama what a pain about dp, mine just has to listen when I start talking abut this, he just nods in the right places though :)

Good luck cadmum, I was exactly as writes for a whole week before and then it was amazing :)

ratbagcatbag · 21/09/2012 09:45

I like Georgina, I know one who's nn is Gee which is lovely :)

Teapig · 21/09/2012 09:45

We haven't properly talked names yet, want to get to that 12 week mark first but names I like are

Harris or Finn for a boy
Isobel or Fionnula for a gril

ratbagcatbag · 21/09/2012 09:46

As writes = the same (obviously) :)

MrsJohnDeere · 21/09/2012 09:47

Sneezy - great choice Wink

I love Georgina too, and Georgia, but it really wouldn't work with our surname.

HaveALittleFaith · 21/09/2012 09:48

MrsJohn welcome! Yes I'm fricking freezing. DH bought me a slanket as my anniversary in September, already come in handy. I love the fact that the box said 'one size fits most'! :) I guess it'll depend on how far along I am?!

I think we're going to find out. DH hates surprises. I'm not sure we'll tell anyone though....
We've not really talked about names, only in a 'What do you think of....?'. I really like Megan though. We know the middle names though! Faith if it's a girl, DH's first name (and my Dad's middle name) if it's a boy.

aufaniae · 21/09/2012 10:09

Teapig ooh, I love Finn. It was on our list the first time, DS was very nearly Finn.

It's off the list this time though, as in the ancient legends, Finn is DS's namesake's dad IYSWIM, so it would be a bit weird!

I also really like Nia - but as she's DS's lover in the same legend that's definitely off the list too as it'd be like calling your kids Romeo and Juliet!

(If any of you know your Celtic mythology you'll know my DS's name now Grin)

HaveALittleFaith I really like the name Megan :) I went to school with a lovely girl called Megan.

MrsJohnDeere yes I'm really feeling the cold atm! And I usually don't, I normally prefer to be a room that's a little cold rather than too warm.

usernamegoeshere · 21/09/2012 10:14

I think we will find out, I definitely think its a girl though, since seeing the positive result I don't think it even once occurred to me that it might be a boy. So best I do find out first cos I would probably end up traumatised if I was unexpectedly handed a boy.

Although, in fairness... a boy would be completely fine & loved etc, just I really think I'm having a girl.

trying2bpos · 21/09/2012 10:24

Blimey you lot so many posts this morning already. Will have to pop back on in a bit to catch up before I post properly.
Hope everyone is cool calm and collected today! I have next week off hooray!
PS Nia is gorgeous aufaniae short for niamh or just as it is?

aufaniae · 21/09/2012 10:27

trying2bpos Nia is the Welsh version of Niamh. It can also be spelt Nya / Nyah I think.

I'm here as I am spring cleaning the house from top to bottom as have potential housemates coming to see the room (we sublet two rooms). As you can see I'm doing a really good job so far! Grin

Must go get on with it! ...

BonaDea · 21/09/2012 10:31

Ooooh goody! We're talking about names! I find the girls names easier to choose.

as for the questions above, I don't mind which sex we have as it's our first and of course more than anything health matters. However,. growing up I always wanted a big brother, so I guess my ideal scenario would be to have a boy for our first (although, undobutedly the girls clothes are WAY cuter!). We won't find out sex.

Names wise, we had also thought Scottish (I'm Scottish) so at the moment like Isla (though this seems to be very popular), Iona, Eilidh (pronounced Ay-lee, although Mr B says she will be nicknamed as 'eyelid' at school!!). I also like Imogen and Camilla.

For boys, we're going very trad: William (Will), Adam and the one Scottish curveball, which I love love love is Lachlan.

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 21/09/2012 10:43

Ooh, I like Finn too.
As we were TTC for so long, many of the names I liked have since been taken by others :(

DH & I haven't really had a proper chat about names yet (frightened to get too carried away) but we like nice traditional names for a girl. I really like the name Sarah, but then I also think is it too boring?
Boys - I haven't a clue!!!!

Also, we have quite an unusual surname, so certain names don't fit very well. Even when we married I was unsure of whether my new name sounded daft!

BonaDea · 21/09/2012 11:02

I really like Sarah and Sara. Would be on our list but has been 'taken' by a family member!

Mama1980 · 21/09/2012 11:12

Love Finn but my nephews a Finn. A woman in here had a boy last night called Eden which I quite like?

aufaniae · 21/09/2012 11:22

One of my friend's children is called Eden. He's in his 20s now, I've known him since he was 2 :) He likes his name AFAIK!

Great name IMO.

trying2bpos · 21/09/2012 12:14

Right I'm caught up finally.

Cold- yes I'm cold and was worried as all lit says you should be warmer when pg so glad not shivering alone. It is cold for time of year though isn't it?

Sex- I am not going to find out, we didn't with DS and enjoyed the surprise but towards the end I would have been so shocked if it had been a girl.

MJD you made me laugh so much Thanks, I've never heard of a renovated uterus but I definitely want one! I have a retroverted uterus is that the same?

Names- they are so hard to agree on, we had a few girls names last time that we both liked but one of which is referred to in a couple of older songs and she was a showgirl or a transvestite so not good! I mean don't get me wrong I know it is highly unlikely than any of her peers would know this but would I be able to stop myself singing the songs to her Grin.
Boys names we never agreed on I like Gabriel and William but I have a friend called William and one of our friends has a William too, does that matter?

I think I do have a preference but don't really want to admit it to myself as this will definitely be our last!
