Hugest congratulations on all the positive scans! I'm so envious of everyone passing the 12 week mark, great to hear all the good news.

I have my booking in appointment next Tuesday when I'll be 10 weeks. I'm a bit worried that it'll then take a while to get my scan set up and I don't want to wait for 13 weeks. Camel, if you don't mind me asking was your private scan very expensive? I might get a private one given that I'm booking in pretty late and can't hold out beyond week 12 for a scan.

with DD I only put the 20 week scan up as you could actually tell it was a baby at that scan, the 12 week one just looked weird. In fact I think i stlil have DD's 20 week scan on my mn profile. I did make the announcement on fb after the scans last time. Just got a bit longer to wait until we can go public.

EmpressMatilda · 18/09/2012 20:27

What a lovely happy news day! Congrats to those of you having good scans, good luck to those of you with scans coming up.

Mine is a week today. This time next week I will know whether everything's OK. Very nervous, especially about the tests. Not sure why. I'm just a worrier I guess. I am 33, DH is 38. I think in the pregnancy stakes that makes us quite old and at higher risk of everything Confused

Having gone on about my disappearing sickness it came back with a vengeance yesterday. Today has been so-so. Also, I get dizzy whenever I stand up from sitting or lying down. So I keep standing up and then falling down again. DH thinks it's hilarious.

To those of you past the 9 week stage and with no scan date -I would chase it asap if I were you. Seems very late to me. I've had my scan letter pinned on the noticeboard for about 4 weeks now.

fab news about all the great scans today, got mine tomorrow! cacking myself lol...10+5

We've decided not to put anything on Facebook, either scan photo or the news itself. Partly because the FB love affair has been losing its spark for a while now - just finding the whole thing increasingly annoying and over-engineered (grumpy, grumpy me!) and will leave when I manage to download my archive successfully; but with the baby thing in particular, I found it really hard to see constant news feeds of baby statuses and photos when we were ttc and had the mc that I'd prefer to use old-fashioned ways of telling the world than risk people feeling sad because of our news. Certainly a couple of unfortunately-timed announcements from close friends caused me much trauma in the weeks after mc....wouldn't wish it on anyone.

So when the time comes we'll be on the blower buzzing the world to share the news. Tbh the group of family and close friends who we really want to know isn't massive, and from there word of mouth can do it's merry thing. Oh that and the (hopefully) growing bump!

CamelKnees · 18/09/2012 20:59

Hey teapig no I don't mind you asking at all! This time we're paying £160 (although the hospital did caveat that with "as long as it's a singleton pregnancy. Nuchal testing for twins is more expensive" Shock at even the thought!)

I think that it might be a bit more expensive than some other places as it advertises as the only place in the North West where you can get nuchal screening results the same day (and in fact we've been told we'll have them by the end of the hour long appointment). When we had a private NT scan with DD 3 years ago (because the NHS didn't offer them here then) we paid £135 and the results were back within a couple of days.

I realise it's not cheap but I just can't bear the thought of waiting until 14 weeks to have the results. That's exactly what my friend had to do and I'm terrified of the whole experience she went through (I know the odds are small but it's playing on my mind). Oh and I'm rationalising it thinking that I won't be spending anything on booze over the next few months!!

Hiya just checking in after a few days. So happy for all of you who have had successful scans already. I'm not sure whether to be excited or not my 12 week scan is tomorrow I just need the reassurance of seeing a baby moving in there although I definitely look and feel pregnant finding it really hard to hide my little bump as don't want to tell people till after scan!
The hospital said in the letter I can buy a picture of the scan I will do that for 20 weeks but did anyone else do it at 12 weeks?can you actually see anything?

usernamegoeshere · 18/09/2012 22:51

Congratulations on more great scans!

birdbrain I'm going to get picture of it at 12 weeks (assuming its all ok still by then), I know you can't see much/anything but quite like idea of making a lil scrapbook that it can have when is grown up.

In reality I would lose aforementioned scrapbook in housemove towards end of pregnancy, but I can hope :P

Good news about all the scans. I have my nuchal scan next week, am starting to worry a bit, although I've already had a dating scan where everything was fine. I get all the results on the day though, so at least it's all over and done with then.

toobreathless one of my friends thought she was good enough at reading scans to see a boy at 12 weeks. She ran out, bought heaps of blue clothes, painted the nursery blue, only to discover at 20wks that she was totally wrong. Her dd loves her blue room though Grin

I won't be making a big announcement on fb. I will call/text/email the people I really want to tell, and others can just find out through the grapevine. A friend of a friend on fb posted a link to the website she has set up for her pregnancy. Despite having never met her I followed the link and there is a whole series of photos including the positive hpt, every scan pic, and weekly bump pics from 5wks. Personally I think that's a bit excessive, and maybe just a fb announcement would have done the trick!!

Teapig · 19/09/2012 08:00

Thanks Camel. I had a google and prices round here seem to be quite steep, up to £220 for results the same day. I've found a place that charges £145 for results in 24 hours so now trying to decide whether to go ahead with that, which would mean I could find out before going on work trip, or whether to wait until I get back. Just want to be scanned asap.

Good luck with scan today birdbrain.

Mama1980 · 19/09/2012 08:33

Morning all, good luck with the scan today birdbrain. I have been given pictures of my scan but not sure if that's normal or just because I'm crying a lot after each one and they want to stop me Blush
I'm seeing the physio today for him to assess the function in my legs.
Hope everyone has a good ms free day!

edinfirst · 19/09/2012 09:02

Good luck with the assessment today mama and the scan birdbrain

Re fb, I will probably put it up eventually, but will make sure that people I know well (not random folk from primary school and friends of friends I met on nights out) hear it from me before it's on fb. I have found out about two friends' pregnancies via fb in the last week, one of whom I would have considered quite close, and feel a bit put out by that (not sure if that's the hormones talking but I don't think so). Having read all your comments I will also try not to make too much of a fanfare about it in case it is painful for any fb 'friends' (including a couple of exes, who I think it wil be weird for).

edinfirst · 19/09/2012 09:03

Only 10+4 so a while before any announcements anyway

miarosemum · 19/09/2012 10:17

Had my scan! There really is a baby in there, alls well and moved my due date forward to 8th April. Such a relief Smile

miarosemum · 19/09/2012 10:17

11+2!

Giddypants · 19/09/2012 10:20

Congratulations everyone on they good scan news, I managed to have a quick peek again at work yesterday, have phoned this morning for my dating/nuchal scan and it's booked for next Wednesday, but I'm having a private quad nuchal scan on Saturday so will get to see sprout again soon.
12 weeks yay milestone!

SneezySnatcher · 19/09/2012 10:32

Congratulations on all the good news. Mine is tomorrow and I'm terrified!

BonaDea · 19/09/2012 11:07

Guys - I am all for throwing money at any problem I can to make my life easier, but the NHS standard for NT screening is to tell you the NT measurement at the actual scan and then to provide blood results - WHERE THERE IS A PROBLEM - within 1-2 days.

I feel like the whole of the pregnancy is a waiting game and if you can't wait a maximum of 2 days for some results, the next 28 weeks or so might be a bit of a trial!

Obviously I understand that it might be desireable in some cases if you have been scheduled very late for your scan, or like the poster above, have a work trip in the way.

somewherebecomingrain · 19/09/2012 11:08

mine is day after tomorrow. also terrified!
i would never announce on fb but i'm a different generation to you guys - i'm 40. when i had my ds i knew there were people who it would upset. also if something went wrong - as it can even after the nuchal although the chances are remote - i didn't want that on facebook. i did put the baby pics up however as that's kind of something people can share and have a stake in. i got reactions like 'blimey somewhere i didn't even know you were pregnant'.
xx

ratbagcatbag · 19/09/2012 11:48

I'm so pleased were all getting good scans, mines tomorrow fx.

Teapig, I had my booking appointment at 10+4, scan tomorrow will be 12+3, wait a couple of days after booking appointment and ring hospital all innocent like, saying not sure of the process etc, will I get my scan date for week 12 etc and then they are usually nice and book it fir you then. Which jumps you up the cue four or fives days :)

ratbagcatbag · 19/09/2012 11:48

Ahem queue

trying2bpos · 19/09/2012 12:06

Congrats on all those great scans ladies, wonderful to read.

Had a reassurance scan today which is a week before my official antenatal and NT scan next week. All looks good. Yay, go baby! Lots of movement and measuring me a few days ahead of time too! Not actually sure that's possible iykwim! Makes me feel more confident for next week now too but petrified I'm going to be high risk as I think my age alone puts me at 1/8. And what with my mc history would be reluctant to test further, ah well no point worrying about what ifs now is there?

FB is a tricky one and really depends on who you have as your friends I guess. I'm too superstitious to post much before baby is born, but last time I did put on some pictures of my bump which were exclusive to my friends in the states who wanted to see me pregnant. So that's always an option too. I feel a bit shy about the scan pictures for some odd reason, weird huh?

Good luck to everyone with imminent scans keep us posted.

JessieEssex · 19/09/2012 12:29

Had my scan this morning - all fine, NT measurement of 1.6mm so normal, just need to wait for blood results. Baby was very wriggly and took ages to get all the measurements but meant that we got to look at it for a longer time.

Sonographer was lovely and talked me through everything. My 12 week scan wih my DD was with a bloke who didn't really say anything and made me more nervous than when I went in!

EDD moved forward to 31st March - but pleeeeease can I stay in this group...?!

12+3!

somewherebecomingrain · 19/09/2012 12:31

trying2bpos how old are you? i'm 40 and it's 1 in 83.

i am so nervous too.

good luck i'm rooting for you - the odds are still emphatically in your favour.
xxx

trying2bpos · 19/09/2012 12:56

Congrats jessieE that's lovely news I hope I have a good sonographer next week, as with DS they seemed really angry that he was moving around so much and they couldn't get a good image so much so that I really started to question if it was normal for them to be so wriggly, seems this one is the same.

Thanks somewhere that's really kind of you to say. I'm, dare I say it, 41 and will be just 42 when baby born. Everthing crossed for you too!
