Having a wee giggle to myself:

DH came home tonight with a pack of size 3 nappies (9-20lbs) "just incase our baby is born now"

Haven't the heart to tell him the nappies are probably bigger than our baby right now!! Note to self, do not let innocent man watch The Midwives!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 29/08/2012 21:38

Always if I get into a really comfy position in bed the ace reflux starts and I have to move to get the gaviscon.. Sad

applepieinthesky · 29/08/2012 21:38

I only used to drink on holidays or special occasions but I could sooo drink a glass of wine right now stunt. Been craving one for a few weeks now. Think it's just because I know I can't.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 29/08/2012 21:39

Defo not ace reflux, acid you stupid iPad, ACID.

eversomuch · 29/08/2012 21:39

Hi everyone. Finally finding time to post. DD had the chickenpox just as we were supposed to go on holiday to Wales. Had to postpone, then only got a few days up there instead of a week. Had a very nice time, though, despite lots of driving.

Also went for a GTT. Happily, it came back normal. My iron is low, as usual, but I haven't got the latest results back yet. Last time it was around 10.2, I think. I take 400mg of ferrous sulphate and 2 packets of Spatone per day; this really helped keep my levels up with pg1, so I hope it will do the trick this time, too.

Am now organizing a house move for the end of September and preparing for a week-long visit from my brother. Just too much going on! When is it that I'm supposed to put my feet up and relax?

I'm also 30 weeks today. A big yippee and \o/ to passmethecrisps, kirrin and all my other fellow due-date buddies as we head into the final ten weeks. It won't be long now until we're holding our little bundles.

applepieinthesky · 29/08/2012 21:42

sophia I keep a packet of indigestion tablets right next to my bed for the same reason. It's been really bad the last few days.

StuntNun · 29/08/2012 22:30

Kissyfur there's none in the fridge so it would have to be warm white wine. Envy

I have a bottle I'm saving for Christmas dinner. Grin

Just been educating DP financially. Man that guy is clueless. On the plus side, me educating him has made me see that things aren't going to be as tough as I had imagined while on mat leave, provided the house doesn't fall down. I knew it wouldn't be terrible, but I knew that we would struggle if a big bill came in.

Still have to get rid of the gardener and buy a lawnmower though Grin

I'm quite grateful that I have quite a few presents stashed away for christmas already. We've just set a budget for gifts for those left to buy for, so that makes me feel easier. I also pay for a policy which gives me cash back on my optical/dental care, and I claim back more than I pay, so for me it's very worth it. Even better, after having a baby, I get £350. That's a definite bonus Grin So that can go in the saving pot.

Car insurance is halving for DP from October too, from £150 a month, yippeeeee! It's a bloody killler that cost every month! Also, by the time my pay drops, we will have finished paying off another large bill. And if we can manage to pay off the remainder of the council tax, then that's 2 months council tax free, and my car insurance isn't payable in those 2 months either. Which is feb and march. While on crap pay.

So, even though it can't extend my leave as we won't have enough to manage another month or so off, we won't be as badly skint as imagined. I hope. Well, all bills are accounted for, and there is extra money spare each month, and we will have a small amount saved, plus credit card with a small limit if it really goes tits up. Failing that. Bank of dad I guess...

I'm sure it will be fine.

TheDetective · 29/08/2012 23:45

I wish I could just bury my head in the sand. Like DP.

I've always been the one to take charge of the finances and everything else though, I don't think I could relinquish control I've been doing it so long now!

How can anyone not know where they are up to with money?! I don't get it!

Iheartpasties · 30/08/2012 03:59

I would have thought a pregnant lady with small children would be a priority for the RAC, or AA whoever it was, sounds awful. But then I have never had to use either so I dont really know. Hope you got home safely.

I had a flat inspection today, seemed to go ok. I hate them really but I do understand why they do them, we rent out a house in the UK and I wish they would do proper inspections etc but the letting agent is tubbish, but better the devil you know at the moment as we cant be arsed to change now.

I suddenly this last few days feel huge. Very heavy bump. How did this happen, just three seconds ago we were less than half way!

My mum has been shoping in M&S to buy a few new bits for the baby. She can't resist!

kissyfur · 30/08/2012 06:51

Urgh drinking 410ml of lucozade was not what I felt like doing at this time of the morning! Bleurgh

Hope everyone else's day starts better!

DesperateHousewife21 · 30/08/2012 07:18

missmummy bless your dh buying the nappies! At least he's interested :)

I'm spending the day with my mum today, she's got a rare weekday off which is nice.

Also need to go to tesco and double up my voucher, that'll give me £10 to get nappies or something. That's one good thing about tesco it feels like I'm getting them for free when they do their big exchange!

Passmethecrisps · 30/08/2012 07:25

Yuck kissyfur!

My morning involves wearing wet clothes. I have a parents' evening tonight and the only outfit I feel is parent-suitable was wet. An iron and body heat will soon sort it out.

Slightly concerningly, I have noticed a huge amount of sniffles and sneezes at work followed by absense due to being unwell. I hope I don't pick anything up. I am fairly immune usually but am I more likely to catch things? Feeling pretty breezy today - hope it stays that way!

Have a good day all.

horseylady · 30/08/2012 07:30

Detective I totally agree!!! Dh thankfully like me though!!

Why did you have to drink lucozade kissy?

FatimaLovesBread · 30/08/2012 08:12

I slept like a log last night! Didn't wake up once til my alarm at 5:50am. Only problem was when I dd wake up my bladder was so full all my bump hurt Confused if I was that desperate why didn't my body wake me up earlier, good job my alarm went off or could have been waking in a wet bed Grin

We bought a TT breast pump from tescos last night, reduced to £12.49!!

misslaughalot · 30/08/2012 08:33

Morning everyone, feel like a big pile of poo here today. I have a cold coming and it's at that horrible first stage where my nose is itchy, my throat is sore and my back aches. Oh, woe is me! Hope everyone else is feeling better.

Got to meet my friend's newborn twins last night. They were born at 32 weeks and their due date was only 2 days ago! Sooo small, 6lb and 4lb at the moment, but perfectly formed and very beautiful. Can't wait to meet my little one now.

Horsey I suspect Kissy is having the GTT. I have it tomorrow and the Lucozade is awaiting me in the fridge. Can't stand the stuff, yuk!

WaitingForMe · 30/08/2012 09:15

I feel rubbish too. While I rarely lose consciousness my body will sometimes go into a faint (pre-dates pregnancy). I've been ok for ages but was really dizzy last night and kept going floppy. Felt really cold and was very pale as well. 3 tablets in and I think the iron is helping a bit but I just opened an email confirming six months worth of work and my heart just sank. It's great for the business and I have my team lined up but the idea of getting it started (today I need to do maybe half an hours work if that) is just exhausting.

Looking after DSS1 (7) today and all he really needs from me is for me to make him lunch but feel very low about that as well.

Fortunately baby is kicking the hell out of me so it's just a case of him being a wee little parasite and sucking the life out of me Grin

kirrinIsland · 30/08/2012 09:22

I think I have a cold starting too - there seems to be a lot of them about :(

Well, last night was surprising painless! DD slept on (or near!) her mattress all night and woke at about 6.40, which is a little earlier than normal but not too bad. Hopefully she'll carry on being so good.

detective your DP does sound a bit clueless when it comes to finances, good job you're on the ball! Good news that it's not quite as bad as you thought.

kissyfur · 30/08/2012 09:24

Yes it was the GTT I had today horsey and laughalot

I recommend undoing the bottle of lucozade the night b4 and letting it go flat, drinking something that fizzy that early on wasn't fun! I don't like fizzy drinks anyway so why I didn't think to do that b4 I don't know!

Anyway it's done now, fingers crossed my sugar levels will be ok Smile

Catbag · 30/08/2012 09:32

Another one feeling crappy here. I've lit the open fire for the first time in probably six months as the weather is hideous (wet and windy). It's almost as much for the friendliness of the fire as the warmth emitted. Caught DH putting the central heating on this morning and got very cross, since we are Atlantic Energy customers and our bills are going up by 9%. He can be very lazy when it comes to keeping warm and will put the central heating on at 2am because he's cold (he'll be up, 'gaming' on his PC), heating up the entire house rather than putting on a pair of socks or a bloody jumper. I then wake up at 4am, unable to breathe properly because I'm too bloody warm. Grrrr. Sorry all, rant over!

StuntNun · 30/08/2012 09:42

Detective you sound like you have a good handle on the finances and that will get you through a lot better than people that may be a bit better off but have their heads in the sand. My DH lost his job just before DS1 was born and we were poor as church mice for a while but we got by. It was a tough time, e.g. the car failed its MOT and we had to scrap it, couldn't afford £400 for repairs. We got £20 for it as scrap! But it teaches you how to cope. I'm lucky to be in a better position now but I make sure I know where every penny goes. I took the boys to McDonalds yesterday (cost £9) but thought that will be the last time we go spontaneously, future trips will have to be part of a planned day out post-redundancy. My parents and in laws both got themselves into trouble with credit cards at one point and I really don't want to be in that position where the money's all going on paying the credit card bills. I always vowed I wouldn't end up like that FC as it's difficult to get out of it unless you get a windfall. So I have put my redundancy pay into cash ISAs for DH and I and some into the boys' accounts in case they have school trips or need something expensive (DS1 swears he'll need his own iPad when he starts secondary school!)

ditsygem · 30/08/2012 09:46

Catbag you are making me eye up my fire now - even though its not cold it is horrible and gray and rainy here.

For all of those of you moving house - a word of warning, its mighty stressful!

We moved on Saturday and it still looks like a bomb site. It doesn't help that I had over zealously stripped all the walls before we moved in so lots of decorating needs doing now. And then me and DH had an argument last night (one of those ones that escalates from very little to being about everything) and then I got all hormonal emotional and went for a cry in the bathroom. I think DH couldn't understand why I was so upset over an argument (I very rarely cry).
Feeling really rough with SPD, a house to decorate, almost nothing sorted for baby and alot going on at work as well (and I am having to work from home as cant get to the office often with this SPD) I feel like poor baby has been sidelined at the moment!

applepieinthesky · 30/08/2012 09:51

Good luck to those with GTT tests today. I haven?t heard anything about mine so assume it was negative. They already told me they would only contact me if there was a problem.

My car?s in the garage this morning for an oil change. More expense. It needs to be taxed next month as well.

Woke up in the middle of the night with terrible leg cramp again. I?ve never known cramp like it before. I was laying in bed thinking fuck, if I can?t cope with a bit of leg cramp how the hell am I going to get this baby out of me? But he?s got to come out somehow! I've not given it much thought until now but I'm just starting to panic. Fuck.

horseylady · 30/08/2012 10:00

Does everyone have this test then? No ones mentioned it to me!! 31 weeks today!!! Argh!!!!

Need to paint nursery and collect furniture!! Need to go to asda baby event too!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 30/08/2012 10:03

Sorry to all those feeling crappy, can't be fun while pregnant.
