Hi Will - that sobbing sofa is a big roomy place, help yourself :)

Prenatal yoga yesterday was brilliant - I would go more if it was on more than once a week - I feel much, much better and calmer about life. Still got a bit of 'oh fuck' going on re: work but better than yesterday!
Helps that DS slept in till nearly 7am and I didn't have to get up to pee in the night, so got nearly 8 hours of unbroken sleep. AMAZEBALLS!

MyDaydream · 19/08/2012 18:59

Sounds yummy, might get some none alcoholic cocktail ideas off Google before I go and buy some umbrellas! Every drink is more fun with umbrellas.
DPs run lasted 15 minutes now he's back on the computer.

HoneyMum21 · 19/08/2012 19:46

Those on the sobbing sofa - DH has arrived home with blueberry muffins and brownies for us :)

WillYouDoTheFandango · 19/08/2012 20:24

Just attempted an Indian but my integration was too bad and had to abandon!

One thing that did cheer me up today though was a massive delivery of 2nd hand baby stuff from my uncle accompanied by my cousins 8 and 3 DP being the fool that he is turned them upside down and made them walk in the ceiling. They were shrieking with delight while we cried with laughter! Smile

Maybe a forage in the biscuit tin will sort me right out.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 19/08/2012 20:25

Haha must proofread - indigestion!

whatmess · 19/08/2012 20:46

Just thought I'd pop in and say hello to everyone. I've been silent for ages. I'm 23wks now and it's all going well. I have been feeling lots of movement since 18wks which have now turned into proper kicks. DH felt his first strong kick last night. It was great to see the look of sheer wonder on his face. Finally he can share this with me.

Spotty I measured my feet today while dd was getting her school shoes and was a whole size bigger than normal. As if they were not big enough anyway. I am blaming it on the heat and hoping they shrink back soon. Hope springs eternal.

Anyone else using a bump belt. I'm having trouble with my bump this time as it's all in front, fairly high and feels like it is dragging down and heavy. A friend suggested the belt but I have heard they are not great for your back muscles. What do you think?

Sorry to everyone who's been feeling down. Hope it passes quickly.

itsMYNutella · 19/08/2012 21:03

I'm fine and don't need a place on the crying couch, but wasn't someone making fudge brownie muffin things? Any of those left???

Having said I don't need a space DP and I had a good chat this morning. We've been searching for a new larger flat so that we can have a proper baby room. The other must on the list was a decent bathroom, because ours could in a biscuit tin! And honestly we haven't seen anything nice :( so even tho we don't really like our building (neighbours are old, horrible, miserable people) and would love a change we can make do with what we have. But today talks about it (DP was being a little stubborn about some points) I did get a bit worked up and there may have been some crying... But all good now! Had some chips for dinner :o I know, I'm soooo healthy!

Lovely evenings to you all and Woohoo Blackcurrants on your 8 hours sleep! I bet it felt great! :)

MyDaydream · 19/08/2012 21:34

Haven't felt baby move much this weekend until now when I ate my very spicy curry and he started kicking. I think I'm going to have a little fatty, he always moves about when I'm eating nice food. Spent part of this evening cuddling a fluffy jacket imagining it having a baby inside!
whatmess the physio I saw earlier in pregnancy said that they can make the back muscles lazy because it does part of the work for them. He also said that if it's needed then it's needed and being comfortable is more important.

emilyeggs · 19/08/2012 22:25

niewiem I think we should put it down to that maybe they have moved and are facing our backs and any kick that way we won't feel.

ISpyPlumPie · 19/08/2012 22:51

Belated Happy Birthday Utopian!

Had a lovely Saturday - took DS to a picnic with some old friends in Yorkshire Sculpture Park and he had lots of fun getting us all to play chase and hide & seek with him - and a fairly productive Sunday as we've started decorating the baby's room. Still lots to do, but finally starting to believe it'll be ready in time!!

Also started using hypnobirthing CD. It seems good is very relaxing. Perhaps a bit too relaxing though as I ended up falling asleep Blush. Maybe it'll still work subliminally or something clutches at straws

knottyhair · 20/08/2012 06:51

Hope you had a lovely birthday Utopian! Went to my sister's yesterday and my niece was there with 2 big bags of baby clothes for us, and she's lent me her doppler. Heard the heartbeat Smile whilst DS held my hand bless him, he was so excited. He held my great-niece and told me on the way home that "she's cute but I want to cuddle MY one" Grin. Hope those of you feeling low over the weekend feel better today xx

Walnut8 · 20/08/2012 07:02

Sorry happy belated birthday Utopian, I missed that post!

I used the hypnobirthing cd last time Ispy but, despite being nice and relaxing, I'm not sure it helped much. Am tempted to try again however, as have heard a lot of success stories.

Thanks for the info about the pregnancy belt Mydaydream. My specialist suggested it to me, but no mention of making the back lazy.

Walnut8 · 20/08/2012 07:04

Also ...anyone else looked in the mirror lately and felt totally crap about themselves? I know I put on weight when I'm pregnant, but this time my hair is frizzy and skin is bad as well and i look like I haven't slept in a week. I guess that's what happens when you already have one to look after?!

annelid · 20/08/2012 07:53

Ellie - we use travelodge, they have good deals once in a while, and even if there are no deals on, they tend to be the cheapest.

kate2boysandabump · 20/08/2012 08:15

Happy Birthday Utopian Smile

My baby was quiet yesterday too, maybe the heat is bothering our babies too. He's making up for it now though! Last night I dreamed he was kicking and I woke up and he was! Very weird...

I started knitting some baby bootees yesterday, I'm trying to use up all the wool I've used for friends blankets over the years. Got a ball of pink going spare! DH and I went looking at baby clothes yesterday, ready for when we're 24 weeks, which is this Saturday. It was all so cute, can't wait til I can buy some and then have a baby to fill them Smile

Hope you are all feeling a bit better today, surely cake is a cure all Wink

emilyeggs · 20/08/2012 09:09

Morning ladies, hears looking forward to an empty sobbing sofa today Grin

utopian99 · 20/08/2012 10:17

Hi all, happy (??) Mondays..

Thanks for the happy birthdays - we now own our first baby-related item! My brother gave me a tiny tiny bathrobe and slippers (look like spa slippers, not sure they'll stay on long!) for the Crumb, once he's born, which will make him look like a tiny white jedi. DH was in bits over it, I swear he's more maternal than me.. It is very cute though.

plum what do you think of the hypnobirthing? my oldest friend's downstairs neighbour went in for all that and she borrowed the CD (she's not pregnant, just for curiosity) and said it was so relaxing she almost feel asleep doing the washing up! Am quite interested in the whole idea as I use a fom of self-hypnosis/meditation to get me through turbulence on bad plane flights, so would be interested to hear what people think. Those of DC nos 2 onwards, has anyone used it before? walnut did you say you did?

hope those of you on the sobbing sofa are feeling better today? Sending my mother's virtual brownies just in case for those in need.. Am feeling almightily mahoosive as have been eating non stop all weekend, and one of my work colleagues who's been away for two weeks came back today, took one look at my stomach and made the Shock face!! (There is a LOT of similar banter in our office, he wasn't being mean, just cheeky)

SpottyTeacakes · 20/08/2012 10:39

Argh I've got a sore bit down there Blush not sure if it's a spot BlushBlush or my episiotomy/tear scar I'm at work so can't look!

I had a hypno birthing cd but only listened a couple of times it was a bit weird

mwahmwah · 20/08/2012 11:55

Don't know who was talking about looking like shit but yep I was feeling a bit like that too. Half a bottle of st tropez later I feel miles better, but these two huge cold sores are wrecking the illusion. Swollen lips are meant to make u look like Angelina jolie right? WRONG Grin

mwahmwah · 20/08/2012 12:01

Oh and btw primark have a nice array of tops that'll flatter the bump, all around the 4 quid mark. I just spent 28 quid and that'll do me till little UN makes an appearance! Just incase anyone else's eyes are watering at the piece of 'real' maternity clothes!

Clarella · 20/08/2012 12:21

Hi all,

Happy belated birthday utopian!

Sorry to hear about everyone's tears over the wkend :(

been with my parents for a couple of days at a cottage near us they always rent for a hol. Was lovely to see family, wish they were nearer. DH went (boat) sea fishing with DF and caught 20 mackrel proceeding to bugger up the gutting of via 'experimental' techniques' so we have 10 fillets in the freezer and smoked a couple more on DF's camping smoker. Nhs didn't clarify if this was ok so I reckoned freshness topped any dangers - they were well cooked!

Had a good dose of soppy spaniel too :)

It was very lovely but then DFs heart went a bit nuts in the night due to the over exertion - this has been happening more frequently and he's starting warfarin next week. He looks v frail and sis not great either (she was there with my niece) so consequently was in floods of tears when we got back. I was quietly perched on end of the sofa with you all, hope you liked the pizza.

It's also looking like I'm going to be signed off for the last 6 weeks of my preg from Sept prior to maternity leave, which would start on Oct 15th due to the sign off which, although I'm now beginning to accept is probably for the best I'm still finding difficult to deal with. Just feel a failure :(

BUT positive thinking, on massive tentahooks about what I've decided is my Perfect Pram on preloved and stupidly cheap, though if don't get that one there are others the same make about. Very happy I've finally decided on one!

I've been given a hypnobirthing cd, as yet to try. Also find blueberry has quiet days but I reckon my placenta which was upper right interior is now just anterior as feel kicks in top right under ribs or bottom left or not really at all. Little monkey.

26 weeks! Ahhhhhh! Still no kitchen/porch/nursery/functional bathroom!

Hope everyone has a happier day today xx

PrunellaDeVille · 20/08/2012 13:12

non maternity clothing - H&M have some great simple stretch jersey tube skirts in at the moment which are hugely comfy, look good and are only £4 each, also very grateful to whoever mentioned them ages ago - they also have lots of draped front and ruched sided jersey tops which look elegant but are very practical. Apart from jeans i wouldn't bother with maternity sections as they seem to think suddenly pregnant women give up all sense of style.

is anybody else thinking of not getting a pram? i'm drawn to the idea of investing in a couple of slings/carriers to fit walking/slouching around at home and hoping that they'll cover me for baby transportation. am i kidding myself?

just come back from first ante-natal class so my head is full of baby issues - great to confront the reality of it though

happy belated birthday utopian

Clarella · 20/08/2012 13:29

Prune, I seriously considered/am considering no pram and just baby wrapping, only getting a second hand one - just struggled to know which one to get!

Bubbless · 20/08/2012 13:34

daydream my DPs very good at things like that, sorry to hear yours is a bit crap. however, he doesnt seem to understand that playig on his xbox whilst sat next to me is not spending time with me Hmm

neiwiem if your worried then call the mw..... she will probs give you a checkover?

spotty sounds stupid, but have you tried to shave recently? i only use the word tried because i did the other day and ive cut myself for the first time ever!! had to get dp to finish as i couldnt see [dies of embaressment]
