jaylee agreeing with everyone else, call your mw/ maternity unit I think you need to be checked.

YellowWellies · 23/08/2012 12:38

Jaylee get checked my love. That's what triage is for - they would much rather you came in - and if it is early labour they can give you steroids which will mature juniors' lungs and vastly help them on the outside world. The earlier you have steroids the better - so make sure you go straight away, just in case!

I've been having tightenings and a rock solid bump (no waters or discharge and more uncomfy than pain) and it's been enough for my midwife to book me in for an emergency scan tomo (I love Orkney for quick appointments!) to check the escape hatch is still closed. I'm just so glad my bump was hard when I went to my 28 week appointment this morning as normally my symptoms disappear on sight of a medical professional! I too could be having steroids tomorrow (or a stitched cervix, or a one way trip to Aberdeen to stay there until the birth - gah) if there is a sign of travel from junior.

Good luck hon - but get it checked. I'm so glad I did. I am paranoid about early babies due to my family history - but the best advice you can get is to not worry about bothering the docs and just get there early xxxxx

YellowWellies · 23/08/2012 12:42

For those with hard bumps and tightenings it can also be a sign of a UTI, a uterus that has grown and stretched too quickly (an irritable uterus hahaha), that you are carrying more fluid than normal, that you are sitting incorrectly and engaging baby / irritating your cervix, that you are doing too much - so it's not necessarily a sign of early labour!!!!

Apologies for stressing anyone out by not qualifying my last post

Brockle · 23/08/2012 13:04

Congrats thereis! Really quite excited!

I am sure you have already but give your MW a call jaylee. At the least it puts your mind at rest.

So glad those beakers are still around eliza I love em!

applepieinthesky · 23/08/2012 13:16

Wow, November babies being born already! Glad to hear they are doing well Smile

Jaylee Get it checked out. It may just be a UTI or something but always better to be on the safe side.

I had my GTT this morning. Apparently they only have time to call people that have abnormal results so unless I get a phone call by next tuesday or wednesday then I'm fine. Also asked about ante-natal classes but they don't do these at the hospital anymore. All the community midwives 'do their own thing' and mine only run a one-off all day session in October which is disappointing. I might have a look around for private classes.

Wow Lane that's super early for a prem to be discharged - normally they keep them in until their due date just in case. Wow what a little trooper!

jaylee89 · 23/08/2012 13:39

Iheartpasties · 23/08/2012 13:54

phew - jaylee you had me worried :) so happy for you, except the kicks in your foof!!

applepieinthesky · 23/08/2012 14:14

Good news Jaylee x

TitsalinaBumSquash · 23/08/2012 14:22

I get awful kicks in my foof, sometimes they cause discharge to shoot out Blush the midwife has checked though so I know I'm safe.
I have a new maternity pillow from amazon that is allowing me some sleep, I keep it tucked between my legs then under whatever side I'm laying on, the kids call it my "foofnana" Grin

applepieinthesky · 23/08/2012 14:22

30 working days left at work. 29 if I go to my antenatal day class. Ooooh it?s all so real now Smile

Good news jaylee

TMI ALERT!!!!
I've just done a biggish poo, haven't been in a few days and now bubba is moving about loads.
Honestly, can a baby be squashed by a poo enough to make the movements less obv?!

I should really eat more fibre Blush

jaylee89 · 23/08/2012 15:16

lol desperatehousewife i had a little chuckle to myself then bless your heart.

try pure orange juice sweetie that usually helps me to move things along as regular as i can my DH calls me "dump a month" because i dont usually have very often bowel movements lol.

at least baba is happy and doing somersaults in there. its amazing to feel isnt it, nothing quite like it if im honest :D

MissMummy1 · 23/08/2012 15:24

Quick question, is it normal to still not feel a huge amount of movement at 26 weeks?

I know you shouldn't really be monitoring movement until 28 weeks but junior has been rather quiet the past few days. Was only really feeling some kicks in the evenings, and still getting that although they're higher up and not nearly as strong or frequent. I have an anterior placenta so trying to put it down to him/her moving position. Used my doppler and heartbeat still really strong.

Am I being paranoid for no reason??

ValiumQueen · 23/08/2012 15:37

Just completed all my paperwork for Mat Leave so officially start at 37 weeks so this lovely broken leg has given me two extra months on full pay Grin having just calculated the figures for my Mat pay, that is a really good thing. I plan to go back to work next September on reduced hours if my boss is agreeable and Nursery too.

ValiumQueen · 23/08/2012 15:41

missmummy Movements varied a lot with me too at that stage. I am 30 weeks now I think and they still vary a lot. So long as you are feeling movements then I would not worry, but trust your instinct, and if you are concerned, just call triage.

Thechick · 23/08/2012 15:53

My movements vary a lot too, I'm 27+4 weeks. I've never had really strong kicks, its most quite low down. He does a lot of squirming and pushing outwards. If I lay on my back I can usually get movement, but there's no pattern for me.

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/08/2012 16:21

Same here with movement, hence why I thought a big poo was squashing her!
She's low down on my bladder/ bowel all the time, I'm starting to feel slight kicks higher up but generally she wobbles and jabs that's the best I can describe it but I wouldn't say the movements were huge.
