Swiss DS1 was almost two when he stopped falling asleep with milk. DS1 was about eighteen months. I agree with DH21 that cold turkey was the best way. I got some new stories and read until DS's went to sleep, ignoring pleas for milk! I don't think you can get them now but I also swopped bottles for those amadeus cow pattern beakers. For some reason DS2 loved those, possible because the spout was wide but free flowing. I hope they are still about because I loved those beakers!

DH I am feeling wobbles and jabs too and I think I am 27 plus 2. I did feel a pair of hands or feet in my side last night which gave me the biggest boost. Feeling a bit low at the mo but from the sounds of it most of us are. Stupid because I am on holiday with my boys which I love but just stupid hormones I guess.

Sorry to hear the sad news about your grandad jaylee. It's a lovely idea to include his name in your daughters.

I spoke too soon about stretch marks - one popped up this morning. Gah!

Have got my solicitors appointment this morning to talk about the compromise agreement I have to sign for my redundancy. Not looking forward to it and HR are being very slow at providing information which is quite stressful. I would just like to get the agreement signed, get my money and forget about it all but instead I'm having to chase down HR and liaise with the solicitors.

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/08/2012 10:13

I measures around my bump today and it's 39in! That's what it was nearly at the end with ds, I'm going to be huuugge!

blonderthanred · 23/08/2012 10:18

Very sorry for your loss Jaylee. It's a very difficult time to process any emotions but particularly grief.

I had my first proper baby-dream last night, I used to dream whole pregnancies, births and childhoods when we were ttc but nothing since I've been pg apart from one where I gave birth to a grasshopper. This was a proper baby though with a lovely face and beautiful eyes. I even dreamt breastfeeding (which went well), quite surprised I didn't sleep-lactate! Woke up worrying how I was going to tell my boss...

TitsalinaBumSquash · 23/08/2012 10:18

I've managed to cheer up a bit this morning Blush
I've managed a few bits of housework and made a few phone calls I needed too.

Still not quite got round to getting out of DP's pjs. Smile

I am praying this 10 weeks hurries up!

Thanks for the replies DH and Brockle - Not sure what i'm going to do as she's such a fidgety baby (16 months now) and I think she just wants the bottle for comfort rather than the actual milk. It's getting ridiculous now as she's having a bottle in the day for nap time, then 1 - 2 at bed time, then waking once or twice a night for milk and it doesn't seem to be doing anything now, as last night she was up for hours! It's also stopping her from eating a decent amount of food. I tried putting the milk in a beaker today but she made such a fuss about it :( I'm dreading having to get up for two all through the night so I might just try stopping it completely!

Jaylee So sorry for your loss, but what a lovely name for your DD, and i'm glad you've got people around you for the support you need.

I remember the baby dreams from last time, one of them was about me being pregnant with a dragon! Won't go in to detail but it wasn't nice!

ValiumQueen · 23/08/2012 10:42

swiss DD2 weaned herself off boobie at 18months, and was fine to settle in the cot by herself, until she went to big bed and has been a nightmare ever since. DD1 had warm milk at night until about 18 months, having weaned off boobie earlier, and I swapped it to a beaker, so sitting more upright, then swapped it to downstairs rather then bedroom, then gradually gave it cooler to eventually cold milk. She has always been an angel to settle, but I did it gradually.

DD2s best friend is 2 and still has a warm bottle to sleep. I have friends who still give their 4yo a bottle at night. I personally think it doesn't matter a jot. So long as the child is weaned and drinks from a beaker or cup most of the time...

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/08/2012 10:52

swiss I think you're options are to either go cold turkey at bedtime/ during the night and say no more milk/ milks all gone something she'll understand.
Or slowly water down her milk so it's just water eventually and she should stop asking for it as she know she won't get any milk at night time.
Personally I'd go cold turkey, it's quicker and you know you'll get results.

ValiumQueen · 23/08/2012 10:52

swiss I think you really should drop the night bottles. Just give her water if she wakes and she will soon realise there is no benefit to waking. At that age she needs to get calories from food, and you need sleep! I would encourage you to just give a milk bottle to settle at night, but offer milk during the day in a beaker, and water if she wakes overnight. Her appetite for solids should improve, and she can refuse the milk in a beaker if she chooses. She may well struggle to settle for a nap. Night sleep is the most important thing, and she could perhaps nap in the pushchair or car? I think to drop all milk bottles at once, especially with a new baby on the way, would be too hard for both of you.

ValiumQueen · 23/08/2012 10:54

Lots of different opinions! swiss just pick and choose which bits of advice sit right with how you feel. You know your child best, and they are all different. My girls are very different even with the same parenting.

gardenpixies32 · 23/08/2012 11:06

We have had our first November babies!

Thereistheball who hasn't posted for a while had her twin boys last night at 29 weeks exactly! She started contracting and they were born the next day! Both are ok thankfully.
Double congratulations to her!

Has made me panic ever so slightly!

MissMummy1 · 23/08/2012 11:09

Wow congratulations to her! Glad to hear they're all doing well xx

DonnaDoon · 23/08/2012 11:10

Gosh thanks for letting us know Garden...lots of love to them all x

kissyfur · 23/08/2012 11:12

Ahh congratulations to her! Glad to hear they are all doing well Smile

Elizadoesdolittle · 23/08/2012 11:16

jaylee sorry to hear of your granddad passing. What a lovely idea to include his name in your daughters, and such a nice name too.

brockle I know the cups you mean and they are still around. I got one for my DD from amazon and she loves it. She still has her bed time milk from it now. swiss I'm afraid I don't really have any advice to give from experience as DD was very easy to drop any night time milk but you're right to try and knock it on the head now before the baby arrives. If it was me I'd probably go cold turkey as that's what I've always done with DD whenever anything in her routine needs to change, but you know your DD best and that may not work for you. Good luck with it.

Elizadoesdolittle · 23/08/2012 11:21

By the way I meant still give milk at bedtime, just not during the night. I thought children had milk just before bed until quite an old age? Not sure how old but at least up till the age of 4?

Wow congrats thereistheball although I doubt she will see these messages after having twin boys! Glad to hear all is well.

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/08/2012 11:25

Wow that's early, glad to hear they are doing well. All the best to thereistheball and her tiny twins!

Iheartpasties · 23/08/2012 11:35

oh wow, my heart is beating fast reading about novemeber babies being born!!! Congrats!

jaylee89 · 23/08/2012 11:59

wow thats lovely news im glad they are all doing well. thank heavens.

thank you all for your kind words it feels so lovely to know i have support from family but also my fellow MNers.

swiss with my DD i had exactly the same dream she had a tail and everything was so strange. with this one ive had a couple of different ones ranging from her having loads of ginger curly hair from birth and from me giving birth really early and her being a him! so very strange tbh.

i just hope these last weeks hurry up now and we can all start sharing our labour stories with newborn snuggles.

jaylee89 · 23/08/2012 12:16

ok just a little post if i can make it short and make sense.

it all started yesterday around 3ish i kept feeling like little trickles and everytime i went to toilet there was alot of wetness in my underwear. didnt really worry as thought it was normal discharge but a little more watery, still having it today but it doesnt smell like discharge iyswim (sorry tmi)

and about hour ago have been having tightenings with mild pain in lower belly area about 3 fingers width below my belly button also a little pain in my lower back!

is this normal?? please tell me it is!

i dont know if its stress just causing these pains o god my head is all over the place.

Catbag · 23/08/2012 12:19

Oh my word pixies- great news that they are all doing well, but holy crap! I'm 28+3, and despite all my whinging about pregnancy, I absolutely do not want to meet these babies for at least another 5 weeks! Do pass on our best wishes though :)

kissyfur · 23/08/2012 12:19

jaylee I think you need to give your midwife a call. I had tightenings with some back pain a week or so ago and had to go in and have tests done. All was fine. Best to go and be safe x

ValiumQueen · 23/08/2012 12:21

jaylee call triage. It could be your waters. Best get it checked, otherwise you will worry more, and pains more likely to be worse with worry. May be nothing, may be another arrival. Get it checked honey x

Iheartpasties · 23/08/2012 12:21

jaylee - please ring your midwife and get cheked out! Not sure what it means but I think medical advice is probably needed. xx

Catbag · 23/08/2012 12:24

jaylee That sounds like waters leaking to me- I would call midwife straight away. Although it doesn't sound like your in labour, those do sound like niggly early labour pains and should be checked out straight away. Especially after hearing garden's news. Don't wish to alarm you unduly, it absolutely would be sensible though. Let us know what the mw says xx
